Had Autism Work training today and honestly its like the only time I feel like my experiences as an autistic person are actually heard but they ARE hears, yknow
And this was actually a conversation with Alfie afterwards but like. Breaking down tasks. This is something a neurotypical person Does Not Consider. They don't need to. For them, something like Wash The Dishes or Do The Washing is one single task! For us, each individual item is a whole seperate at least one task right
And Alfie was so talking about how they literally count the steps between things. So put that I to the perspective of one of put supported individuals and what does that look like? Either of us van easily estimate that, our NT colleagues absolutely cannot and are in fact actively surprised when we do for them
Tldr. If that One Single Task your boss/parent/significant other asigns to you is Actually More Than That when you think about it? You're probably neurodivergent. And if you think that most tasks are a single thing, consider that many of the people in your life CANNOT see it that way.
#i actually had a really good day today#i agreed to cover an extra shift for someone but i also had outstanding physical skills training to do#a class for which was happening today that Alfie was also registered for#so one of the pseudo managers who likes me shuffled things so that i still had a 7am start but only a couple hours in the actual building#and the rest was training with Alfie#making it much less stressful for me to perform the physical stuff#and. yeah! made mw more comfy discussing actual autism things#and without the pressure of Being In Work made people more ready to listen#my manager was part of it and said an excellent job which was nice#also doing it with a guy i dont know super well but. described as both a himbo and a Spicy Boy??#but he was absolutely lovely and with Alfie there i was more comfy and making a few trans jokes#mentioned that one time with my Cis Best Friend at a gaff and the guys just started punching each other#and he was like oh yeah thats a thing!! happens in gyms too did you never get that as a kid??#but in a really friendly welcoming way idk. hes a Good Dude and i hope i can talk to him more#tldr had a lovely day that i get paid for. wish the rest of the care job could feel like this.

3 weeks in and I don't know if I can do this
#you guys gave me less than a week of training and then handed me a key to the building and expected perfection#when i told you i have cancer and worsening symptoms that impede my ability to do tasks solo#so now im getting chewed out MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE MORNING#for something that is ultimately NOT MY FAULT#because of poor management and also. limited oven space.#and you are threatening ME over not being able to have this bread out on time when i just spent the past 10 hours in fucking horrific pain#due to CANCER#and also because. to reiterate.#i had 3 DAYS OF TRAINING#BEFORE BEING EXPECTED TO PERFORM ALL JOB TASKS FLAWLESSLY COMPLETELY SOLO#i know im only reacting this poorly because i was already doing bad but also. again. I WAS ALREADY DOING BAD#WHY AM I GETTING CHEWED OUT TWICE IN UNDER 20 MINUTES ABOUT SOMETHING THIS FUCKING MINOR#WHEN I HAD 3 DAYS OF TRAINING

I'm gonna post this hopefully quickly and then go make bracelets to distract myself bc I wanna get it out but not have to come back to it later . And I will be whining about this on main a lot so I might as well give yall some context first
#i got soft fired.#they said it was bc summertime is slow and they dont have the hours for me#but they also said smth about my 3 month evaluation ? which i was not involved in but i felt like it implied something about my performance#but they didn't say it was about my performance not being good enough#and they also didn't say its just bc of the hours but you're a good employee so don't worry about that#they said they still might call me at some point if they have hours for me again#the words fired and let you go were not used#but. i stg they just hired a new froster. idk for sure but i thought they did#and one of the cashiers (the girl i know actually 😐) said she might get trained in frosting this summer#even tho by company policy youre not supposed to work in the kitchen if youre under 18. shes 16#but there was no warning or critiques or anything#there was when i first started#but not for a long time now#the manager gave me one note like 2 or 3 weeks ago and not since and that was the first time in a while#i had a panic attack when i got home#idk what im gonna do and idk what to think or feel about it rn#i just . yea#thats whats going on in my life lol anyway

the auto aim pulse rifle that they give to our supposedly bad ass female lead in Alien Romulus is the biggest misogyny ive seen executed in a modern horror literally how was that scene supposed to be seen as cool?? she cant aim for shit!!! she doesnt have any gun skills somehow?? and her girlboss scene was just holding a pulse rifle with no detection software that was just moded to auto aim by her just pointing it in the general direction of the alien. come on

But also most Broadway performers are very firmly middle class (if that) while on contract, and while off contract struggle to make ends meet, so I imagine a lot of the more purely Broadway folks were cheaper than you’d think.
#broadway#finances#I know Broadway salaries seem really great#but Broadway actors have to live a commutable distance to nyc#pay their union dues#pay their agent and manager#pay to keep up their training#put away to get them to their next contract#and also eat/live/etc in nyc#it’s expensive as fuck to be a Broadway performer#and the wages do not match comparable performers at the top of their field#or come even close#like honestly the biggest get was probably Stephanie Beatriz#bc of b99 and Encanto#Jeremy Jordan is huge in the Bway community but outside of that people know him bc of supergirl if they know him at all#and that’s what I imagine to be the case for most of the cast#They may be very popular in the Broadway community#But they’re not getting paid the big bucks for a mainstream target audience
