FIVE BOLD NBA PREDICTIONS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON
Five Bold NBA Predictions for the Remainder of the Season
January 14, 2025
The NBA season is heating up, and as playoff contention tightens, surprising twists and turns are on the horizon. Here are five bold predictions for how the rest of the 2025 season could unfold.
1. Detroit Pistons Will Advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals
After years of rebuilding, the Pistons are poised to surprise the league. Cade Cunningham’s All-Star-level play, combined with the toughness of Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren, has provided Detroit with a foundation that’s both gritty and dynamic. Malik Beasley and Tim Hardaway Jr. are hitting threes at a lethal rate, adding a critical outside dimension to the Pistons’ attack.
Though they’re still seen as underdogs, their current momentum could lead to an upset against any team not named the Cleveland Cavaliers. If their young core plays with discipline, Detroit might very well find themselves in the second round or, improbably, the Eastern Conference Finals.
2. Boston Celtics Will Stop Cleveland Cavaliers’ Finals Dreams
While the Cavaliers have dominated much of the season and look like strong contenders, Boston’s experience gives them the edge. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have taken the painful lessons of past playoff losses to heart, much like other eventual champions before them.
Add the Celtics’ balanced roster, including Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, and Cleveland’s lack of playoff-tested depth becomes a concern. The Celtics are well-equipped to grind out victories, making them favorites to edge the Cavs in a potential matchup.
3. Russell Westbrook Will Deliver a Legendary Playoff Performance
Russell Westbrook’s resurgence with the Denver Nuggets has been one of the most captivating storylines this season. As Jokic’s pick-and-roll partner, Westbrook has found his groove, averaging impressive numbers while bringing a burst of energy to Denver’s rotation.
Expect a jaw-dropping 30-point, 10-assist, and 10-rebound performance in a crucial playoff game. Westbrook’s ability to thrive under pressure and his renewed confidence make this not just possible but likely against a formidable opponent.
4. Lonzo Ball Will Shine in the Play-In Tournament
After a long and arduous recovery, Lonzo Ball’s return to action could serve as the emotional spark Chicago needs. Should the Bulls find themselves in a play-in game, expect Lonzo to shine brightly, inspired by his brothers’ success off the court and his own journey back to form.
Whether it’s knocking down threes, dishing precision assists, or locking down on defense, Lonzo’s contributions will be pivotal, even if Chicago doesn’t progress far. His performance will solidify his value as a leader and motivator.
5. A Cavs vs. Thunder Finals Will Mark the Lowest-Watched Series Ever
While both teams have the talent to reach the Finals, their relative lack of superstar marketability could hurt viewership. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Donovan Mitchell are undeniable stars, but they don’t yet have the mainstream appeal of LeBron James or Stephen Curry.
Moreover, the NBA has struggled to build new icons, with SGA lacking a signature shoe and Mitchell overshadowed by the likes of Anthony Edwards in the Adidas lineup. Purists will enjoy the series, but casual fans might tune out, preferring the narrative of proven champions or established dynasties.
Conclusion The NBA thrives on unpredictability, and this season is no exception. From Detroit’s underdog rise to the potential viewing challenges of new-market Finals contenders, these bold predictions capture the drama and excitement of the league. Whether or not these scenarios come to fruition, one thing’s for sure: the rest of the season will be a wild ride.

DENVER (AP) — It’s often said music is the universal language of humanity. Now a 12-year-old Houston boy is putting that to the test for an unlikely audience — man’s best friend.
Yuvi Agarwal started playing keyboard when he was 4 and several years ago noticed his playing soothed his family’s restless golden doodle, Bozo. He grew curious if it also could help stressed homeless animals.
With help from his parents, who both have backgrounds in marketing, he founded the nonprofit Wild Tunes in 2023 to recruit musicians to play in animal shelters. So far he has enlisted about 100 volunteer musicians and singers of all ages and abilities to perform at nine shelters in Houston, New Jersey and Denver.
“You don’t have to understand the lyrics to enjoy the music. Just enjoy the melody, the harmony and the rhythms. So it transcends linguistic barriers, and even it can just transcend species,” Agarwal said recently after playing hits like The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” and Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” on his portable keyboard at the Denver Animal Shelter.
Agarwal, who was playing for an elderly miniature poodle named Pituca — Spanish slang sometimes used to describe a snob — said many of his four-legged listeners, which include cats, become excited when he enters their kennel. But after a few minutes of playing, they calm down. Some even go to sleep.
He remembers a rescue dog named Penelope that refused to come out of her enclosure in Houston to be fed.
“Within a short period of me playing, she went from not even coming out of her kennel to licking me all over my face and nibbling my ears,” Agarwal said.
A few stalls down from where he was jamming on his keyboard at the Denver shelter, volunteer Sarah McDonner played Mozart and Bach on her flute for Max, a 1-year-old stray boxer that tilted his head when she hit the high notes.
“The animals having that human interaction in a positive way, I think, gives them something to look forward to, something that is different throughout their day,” said McDonner, a professional musician who met Agarwal in Houston.
She helped bring the program to Colorado after moving to Denver a few months ago. “I think it’s very important to give them something different from what they’re used to in their little tiny cages ... and makes them more adoptable in the long run,” McDonner said.
While the effect of music on humans has been studied extensively, its role in animal behavior remains murky.
Several studies suggest that classical music generally has a calming influence on dogs in stressful environments like kennels, shelters and veterinary clinics. But some researchers warn there is not enough data to support the claim.
“We always want these really simplistic answers. So we want to say that music calms animals, for example, and I think that it’s much more nuanced than that,” said Lori Kogan, a self-described “dog-person” who chairs the human-animal interaction section of the American Psychological Association. “There’s a lot more research that needs to happen before I think that we can unequivocally say that music is a great thing for animals.”
Kogan, a professor and researcher at Colorado State University, has studied for more than two decades how animals and humans get along. Research involving the effect of music on dogs often produces mixed results, she said, because there are so many variables: the setting; the volume, type and tempo of the music and the breed of the dog and its previous exposure to music.
She suggests a case-by-case approach to introducing music to animals.
“If you play music for your pet, and they seem to like it and they appear calmer, then I think we can say that that’s a positive thing, that you’re providing some level of enrichment for that pet. ... I would encourage people to give it a try and to see how their pets respond,” she said.
For Agarwal, his firsthand experience at shelters is undeniable evidence that music helps comfort stressed animals, and he plans to grow Wild Tunes into a nationwide program. The volunteers get something out of it, too, he said.
“You get a really great way to practice your instrument or sing in front of a nonjudgmental audience, which can boost your confidence,” he said.

part six
2.4k she's a shorty i'm sorry :(
Denver passes by without incident, without much exchanged between them. She doesn’t even go on stage during their set, and she’s better for it, considering the way Eddie is singing, brooding, furrowed eyebrows, muscle tee hanging off his frame, showing off his toned arms, the tattooed skin of his torso makes her mouth go dry, and she has to leave the side of the stage and go into their green room and press a chilled mini water bottle against her chest.

Denver, Colorado
Surprise sex with Eddie came with a few consequences.
One, being fifty-six dollars and forty-three cents spent at the nearest CVS on Plan B, Gatorade and a bag of watermelon sour patch kids.
Two, some oddly shaped bruises, ones on her mid thighs, the shadow of a bite mark on her trapezius, among others.
Three, and most lingering, a complete inability to stop thinking about it.
She’d wake up, sweaty and needy in her bunk, phantom presses of lips haunting her. She’d be on stage and see him in the wings, and her hands would slip on the neck of her guitar. She’d walk past him in the narrow hall of a venue and smell his cologne and her knees would go weak.
She tried to chalk it up to loneliness - which is easy to do since she’s the only single one in the band. Just yesterday, she’d walked into the back lounge on the tour bus to find Nancy and Robin feverishly making out, hopped up on newlywed bliss.
If she wasn’t so oblivious, and if she didn’t have so much on her plate and hanging over her head, she would have probably noticed that Eddie was suffering too.
So hell bent on avoiding him, she hadn’t noticed the way his eyes followed her when she’d walk off stage, all sweaty and out of breath and smiling with the girls. She hadn’t noticed the way his knuckles would turn white against a clenched fist when he’d see her loading gear onto Daisy Chain’s bus, in plain clothes with her hair back, toned, tattooed arms flexing as she lifted the heavy amp. Or, when she was quietly humming to herself before a show, tuning her guitar, sitting cross legged on a Pelican case, entirely in her own world.
Simply put, it was torture for both of them, yet neither of them had approached the other with the intent to talk about it. Sure, their limited interactions had gone too polite, causing the members of both bands to exchange dubious and curious looks.
It’s untenable, utterly insufferable and it’s only a matter of time before one of them breaks. It’s a game with absolutely no rewards, and a performance that neither of them are going to be able to keep up for long.
It’s when they cross the border into Nebraska that she resolves herself to it being a one time thing - something they needed to get out of their systems, something he now regrets. Which is - which she doesn’t really know how to feel about it, doesn’t actually know if that’s how he really feels about the whole thing, about her; how can she, they haven’t really spoken since.
The air gets colder the further North they travel. Stepping off the tour bus sends goosebumps careening up her arms, and by the time they’re checked into the hotel and heading to the venue, her nose and cheeks are irritated from the biting chill, but it’s easy, somewhat, to fall into the same routine.
Set up, soundcheck, go back to the dressing rooms to get ready, listening to the growing roar of the crowd singing along to the pre-show playlist. She’s alone in the green room for a change, Nancy and Robin had gone to shower and Chrissy had wanted to get ready on the bus so she could facetime with her boyfriend back home.
This affords Reader a great deal of privacy, which she uses to her advantage for a while, traipsing around in her bra and panties. She’s just pulled her dress up past her hips and over her shoulders when the door opens to reveal Eddie, who looks distinctly like a deer in headlights when he realizes that he’s walked into the wrong green room.
“Sorry,” he manages to choke out, and she shrugs, twisting her shoulders to try and zip up her dress.
“It’s fine,” She says, straining a little, “Actually, can you- can you help me?”
It doesn’t seem to immediately register what she’s asking him to do, but once it does he nods, stepping into the room and closing the door behind him with a soft click, and soon, the sound of the zipper is the only thing that fills the room, besides his slightly ragged breathing on the back of her neck.
She catches his eye in the mirror, slightly in shadow from standing behind her and smiles softly, “Thanks.”
She makes to move away, but stops when she feels his hand curl around her hip.
Warmth radiates from the spot, sending pins and needles shooting across her skin. Though her body is reacting like this is new, the quick breath, the quicker heartbeat, her brain seems to know that this is achingly familiar, and she takes a half step back against him, her hand coming to cover his.
He presses himself behind her, winding his arms around her waist and pressing his face into her neck, pressing a long kiss there.
He watches in the mirror as her eyes slip closed, and she tilts her head to the side to allow him room, sighing softly in relief.
“What took you so long?” She asks, turning her head to look into his face. He uses the opportunity to kiss her, one hand snaking up her body to grab hold of her chin, keeping her there while he kisses her rather thoroughly, tongue slipping against hers.
“I dunno, just been…been thinking a lot about,” he says, in between kisses, “Salt Lake.”
“Mmm,” she hums, accepting another searing kiss, “What about it?”
Eddie tsks at her teasing cadence, tracing his fingers down her neck and along the smooth line of cleavage, before abandoning all pretense and shoving his hand underneath the fabric of her dress, past the cup of her bra so he could grab a handful of her tit, groaning softly at the way her nipple hardens against his palm.
“Been thinking about,” he mutters as he’s pressing rough kisses to every bit of skin he can reach, “How I didn’t get to have my way with you nearly as much as I wanted to.”
The show is in an hour. There’s not a lot of time, she’s not quite done getting ready, all of which she tells him between soft groans as he gathers the hem of her dress in his hand, pulling the tight fabric up her thighs.
“I’ll be quick,” he promises, running his hand along her clothed cunt, which has already gone puffy and wet from the few minutes he’s been touching her.
She moans, deep and guttural, and catches his eye in the mirror, faces pressed together, “Promise?”
“Scout’s honor, sweetheart,” he whispers against the shell of her ear, pressing a kiss there before delving his hand underneath her panties.
She gasps, her head falling back on his shoulder, exposing the pretty column of her neck even more, and he fixes his mouth to it, pressing even closer.
She’s so wet, which pleases him beyond belief. It’s amazing that with a few touches, a few kisses and some words that he can get her like this - falling apart in his arms, completely at his mercy. It’s a sensation that he’s growing increasingly addicted to, parts of his brain lighting up that never had before.
He rubs her clit in circles, quick and calculated as he whispers dirty little nothings into her ear.
“We - holy shit - we can’t fuck,” she warns him, “I’m not spending fifty bucks on Plan B again.”
”Wasn’t planning on it,” Eddie says, pressing a kiss to her temple, “And I’ll Venmo you.”
Her protests are lost in a surprised gasp as he turns her around to face him, bending to lift her onto the vanity,
Her dress has slipped off her shoulder enough so that more of her breast is exposed, and as he mouths along the soft flesh there, he tugs it the rest of the way down, along with her bra, looking up into her face through his lashes as he darts out an experimental tongue, barely flicking the sensitive bud.
She groans her approval, fingers twisting in his curls, and soon, he’s got both tits out, switching sides every couple of minutes before her nipples are hard, slick with spit and kiss bruised. She sighs, the back of her head bumping against the mirror as she lets it fall back, expression soft and open.
He drops to his knees in front of her, earning a surprised look as she gazes down at him. It takes her half a second to realize what’s about to happen, but once she does, her expression falls into desperate lines of need, her eyebrows furrowing and her lip jutting out in a small pout as she nods eagerly, brushing his hair out of his face,
He can’t really help himself when she looks at him like that, so he grabs her hips and helps her scoot forward, draping her legs over his shoulders for stability. He can feel her shivering a little, so he presses a kiss to the side of her knee, tracing his hands up her lush thighs, taking the hem of her dress with it until it’s bunched up around her hips.
Her thighs are pressing in on the side of his head, and he can’t bring himself to lose that feeling to pull her panties off, even for a second, so he moves them to the side enough to allow him room, before diving in and wrapping his lips around her clit.
She covers her mouth to stifle the groan that falls from it, eyes fluttering shut as her heels dig into his back and as her free hand grazes through his hair, nails dragging bluntly across his scalp.
He keeps going, dragging the flat of his tongue through her folds over and over again, watching through his eyelashes as her chest heaves, a fine mist of sweat making her skin shine under the lights of the vanity as her eyelashes flutter against her cheek. She’s so pretty, so soft and warm in his arms that it feels a little overwhelming, sticking in his chest so he closes his eyes, gathering her hips in his hands and pulling her impossibly closer and doubling down on his efforts, one hand sliding from her hip, down the expanse of her thigh and working itself between her legs before he’s slipping a finger inside.
Her foot kicks in surprise at the feeling, but as he’s pulling away apologetically, she fusses, her hand darting between them to close around his wrist and pulling it back where she wants it, and he huffs out a laugh into her thigh before curling two fingers inside, biting his lip when her cunt flutters around his fingers in reactivity, bending back down to pulse his tongue against her clit.
The hour is waning to a close, and the lights above flicker rapidly a few times to indicate that they have ten minutes until curtain call, and she hisses out an expletive and urges him to go harder, faster, and so he does, the tendons in his forearms flexing with the effort, and just as an ache is blooming in his wrist she’s slamming her own hand over her mouth to stifle the near-scream that falls from it, her free hand digging into his shoulder and twisting in his shirt as she comes.
He stands on sore knees and tugs her dress back down her thighs and generally helps to put her somewhat right, and she’s giggling a little stupidly as he adjusts her bra strap for her, and he really can’t help but smile at the way she gets a little touch-drunk. It’s a way he’s not used to seeing her, vulnerable and unencumbered by insecurity, and he’s finding that he wants to see more and more of it, of her, as much as she’ll let him.
“You son of a bitch,” she croaks, tugging her hair off her neck and into a low bun at the base of her head, “I have to go sing now, and my voice is completely wrecked and it’s completely your fault-”
He shuts her up with a kiss, one that she melts into, and her fingers are skimming the buckle of his belt before the lights flash around them again and she sighs against his mouth, letting her forehead fall against his cheek.
“I have to go,” She whispers, slipping off of the vanity and standing on tiptoe to press a quick kiss to his mouth before rushing towards the door.
She glances over her shoulder, “Come find me later, yeah?”
And he does.
By midnight that night, he’s been inside her once more, and is dozing off with his head on her bare breast in the back lounge of his bus, the door locked even though the members of both bands went out drinking without really noticing that their lead singers weren’t there.
They have a few hours, at least, to rest but she only gets an hour or so of sleep in before her body, ridden with that old anxiety pulls her into wakefulness. Even in sleep he’s wrapped around her, and it takes a great deal of effort to extricate herself from him, easing him back down onto the couch and adjusting a pillow under his head and a blanket around his shoulders before she goes about finding her clothes.
He’s still asleep by the time she’s dressed, and she’s half tempted to wake him to say goodnight, but he looks so peaceful, and she knows that he would ask her not to go, that she could stay, that they wouldn’t know, or if they knew they wouldn’t care-
But she cares. So, she presses a kiss to his cheek and takes her leave, making the journey from his bus to hers, slinking into a shower and then into bed. Her bunk feels distinctly cold, and she does too, so she cuddles up to her pillow and closes her eyes, chasing down sleep once again.

Hey, how was your day? Tired from work? Annoying boss? Come to reso- music! We'll heal you with music.
We gonna share some classic folk songs with you today. Folk music has always had a unique way of connecting with people, and they often feature slow, simple, repetitive melodies that allow the lyrics to take center stage and convey a message.
🎵
Can't get enough of 《Five Hundred Miles》.
Melodic, natural and fresh. Life is hard, and you're not 500 miles from home. If you listen to it when you are lost and confused, your mood will be calmed down...
If you miss that train I'm on, it's the one I've left alone and in dismay; listen to the whistle that stretches for a hundred miles, a hundred miles, and a hundred miles ......
🎵
《Take Me Home, Country Roads 》 is a 1971 song written by American folk singer John Denver with Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert.
The inspiration for the song came from Bill Danoff, a musician friend of John Denver's, and his wife, Taffy Nivert, who told him that he was accompanying Nivert on a trip to join her family in Maryland; on the way there, he remembered a tune that would be suitable for a folk ballad.
After hearing the demo tune, John Denver was intrigued enough to talk to Danoff and Nivert about revising it for his next album, Poems, Prayers and Promises.
Every time we hear this song, it always evokes strong feelings of homesickness. country roads, take me home, to the place I belong... No matter how unsatisfactory life is, as long as the home is still there, our souls and bodies will have a place to return to.
🎵
...How to appease the lonely soul on a long night? In the face of the darkness of silence, natural contemplation is the greatest solace, the stars in the hazy moonlight, full of dewdrops of flowers, have given us the freedom of tolerance, soaring thoughts, so that loneliness has become a kind of enjoyment in the journey of life.
Accompanied by the melody of the bass, loneliness becomes a rare luxury. In loneliness you hear the sound of gurgling spring water? In loneliness do you see the round dance song gliding through the grass on a summer night? “Hello, darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk to you again.” ...... Let's use the key of 《The Sounds of Silence》 to open the door of loneliness in our hearts, and in loneliness, experience the depth and breadth of life, and welcome the bright dawn of your own.
As the theme song to the Academy Award-winning film 《The Graduate》 and one of the most iconic pieces of music of all time, this song has touched the hearts of millions of people around the world, spanning more than half a century, and has been sung for a long time.
🎵
Every time I hear this song 《Valder Fields》 by Toams Wells,
It's like sitting alone in the soft grass.
The warm afternoon sunlight is spreading gently on you.
White clouds roaming in the blue sky
The breeze smells of earth
and caresses your face.
In front of you are mountains and lakes.
Cows and goats are grazing.
It's peaceful and quiet.
The upbeat yet serene rhythms and gentle yet moving lyrics quiet every restless soul.
🎵
This is a Scandinavian ballad about a two-way crush called 《Say Hello》, sung by Roise Thomas and Sufjan Stevens.
The whole song is sweet and youthful, perfectly illustrating the nervousness, hesitation and anticipation of a crush.
If you meet someone you like, look them in the eye and say hello.
🎵
《Happy (I Used To Be)》,sung by the Norwegian singer-songwriter Egil Olsen, unique Nordic temperament, warm and continuous voice, slowly flowing with the sadness of the lazy mood, with minimalist and moving songs known as one of Norway's best live performers!
This song is a slow way to grieve, perfect for a quiet night or drunk moments to enjoy.

Listen to reso-music! Listen to how folk songs make the world feel right. Joy, sadness, frustration, secret love, homesickness, friendship, etc., there is always a feeling that can RESOnate with you.

Take Me Home, Country Roads — Geoff Castellucci music video
youtube
Although his family moved to Florida when he was little, Geoff was born in Virginia and spent the first several years of his life there. So this iconic John Denver tune has long had a special place in his heart. Fifty years after its initial release, he decided to take things a little deeper.
Details:
title: Take Me Home, Country Roads (bass singer cover)
original performer: John Denver
written by: Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert, & John Denver
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
release date: 2 April 2021
My favorite bits:
those lovely legato opening harmonies
leaning into his natural Southern accent to fit the genre
the way lead Geoff lets a touch of vibrato in at the end of each phrase
having a closeup shot featuring his flowing mane just starting to be tousled as he sings ♫ "growing like a breeze" ♫ 🌬
simple snapping under the first section expanding to an actual drumbeat in the second verse
that smooth descent on ♫ "teardrop in my eye" ♫ 🥲
his wistful expression as he looks around the sunny ranch emerging from winter dormancy into springtime green
how comfortable he sounds on that falling riff of ♫ "yesterdaaa-a-a-aaa-a-a-a-aaa-aaay" ♫ at the end of the bridge
the gorgeous rising canon of ♫ "I belong" ♫ starting from that luscious subharmonic and ending with a tenor trill
having the clones go first on the penultimate chorus with lead Geoff taking the echo position
all the clones glancing over to acknowlege lead Geoff when he joins them at the gate
those soft hummed tones behind the final deep ♫ "roaaads" ♫
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
This video was flimed at Big Oaks Ranch in Chuluota, Florida. He had previously recorded two VoicePlay projects there, "Daddy Sang Bass" and "Billie Eilish in 3 Minutes". He returned there two years later for "Man of Constant Sorrow".
Knowing his audience (and being a cat lover himself), Geoff included the name of the farm cat who made a cameo in the YouTube description. Hi, Tigger! 🐱
He also joked that there was "No need to thank me, your comments about the wind blowing in my hair are thanks enough."
The "west Viginia" in the lyrics isn't meant to reference the U.S. state of West Virginia, but rather the western part of Virginia from which the former separated in 1863. Nevertheless, the song has been embraced by denizens of both states.
The Shenandoah River mentioned in the first verse also inspired Geoff's first recording the following year.
His pals in country a cappella group Home Free had released their own version of the song two years earlier on their "Dive Bar Saints" album.
Geoff posted a live excerpt "that nobody asked for" as his first TikTok video a few weeks later. If anyone doubts he can really hit all those notes in quick succession, subharmonics and all, there's your proof.

Jake Xerxes Fussell - Nelsonville Music Festival, Nelsonville, Ohio, July 22, 2023
More great live music! Jake Xerxes Fussell kicked off his most recent tour in Denver last night and — as always — he sounded so good. Jake plays folk music if you want to put a simple tag on it, but he's a master at communicating the complicated soul, wit, beauty and weirdness of these tunes. He's also comfortable stretching the definition of folk music; last night he covered both Nick Lowe and Arthur Russell, and, in Jake's hands, those guys fit right in. Finally, Fussell is an unassuming guitar genius, every note perfectly placed. Anyway, go see him if you get the chance — he's headed out west as we speak!
You can also check out a great solo performance beneath the sycamore trees in Nelsonville from a few years back. Someday I'm going to have to go this festival, it just looks so cool. And hey! At the time, Jake was touring with singer-songwriter Sam Moss, whose fantastic Swimming LP I wrote up recently for Aquarium Drunkard. Can you watch Sam's set, too? Oh yeah, you can.

Blog Post 7
Music and nature, in turn, are related in such a way that it would appear to spring from the same language-that of speaking to our emotion and experiences with no words. As we start to make an exploration of the role that music might play in environmental interpretation, we may observe how both music and nature evoke something more than or beyond facts to take us closer to the heart of the matter.
The first beginning of trying to be conscious of the place of music in nature has something of the effect of tuning into an ongoing concert. The rustling of leaves, the whispered caress, and the chorus of birds at sunrise: all part of a natural symphony. One soundscape ecologist, Bernie Krause, has long advanced the idea that ecosystems have an acoustic signature-or "biophonies." He says each landscape has its own unique mix of natural sound-its own song, essentially-and those soundscapes can tell us much about the health of the environment. I feel that when we take time to listen, it would seem that nature has always been "composing" music; we simply need to be attentive enough to hear it.
Next, we consider the reverse: Where is nature in music? For many, certain songs immediately transport them to a natural landscape. Personally, the song by John Denver, "Take Me Home, Country Roads," evokes memories of road trips through mountains and forests, further reinforcing the emotional connection between music and place. This is not unique to me, for music has long been used to evoke place or connection with the land. Songs, stories, and dances are deeply rooted in Indigenous cultures with the natural environment and are tools to help in the conveyance and transmission of relevant knowledge about nature. This in turn reinforces the view that music, like nature, is a connecting entity to comprehend and conserve the world outside.
Nature interpretation with the inclusion of music might also afford new ways of engagement. According to Tilden's third principle of interpretation, "Interpretation is an art, which combines many arts". If we combine music with our interpretive programs, the experiences become educational and touching. Especially, attention should be drawn to how Ben Mirin used the recordings of birdsong within his performances of beatboxing, to creatively blend the arts and environmental interpretation in both engaging an audience and fostering a deeper connection with wildlife.
Music and nature are powerful interpretive tools; together they allow us to create transformative experiences. By borrowing from natural soundscapes or using music as a storytelling device, we can facilitate others in seeing-and more importantly feel the need to conserve the landscapes we interpret. We interpreters should embrace the arts not just for entertainment, but to inspire stewardship and connective relationships with the natural world.

NFL Update: August 21, 2024
As the NFL preseason heats up and teams inch closer to the regular season, several key storylines are emerging. Here's a comprehensive update on the latest news, standout performances, and notable injuries from around the league:
1. Quarterback Controversies and Competitions
New England Patriots: The Patriots have been closely watching the quarterback battle between incumbent Mac Jones and rookie standout Tyler Jackson. Jackson’s impressive preseason performances have put significant pressure on Jones, who has struggled with consistency. Coach Bill Belichick has yet to name a starter, but the competition is expected to intensify as the season opener approaches.
San Francisco 49ers: Over in San Francisco, Brock Purdy continues to recover from his offseason elbow surgery. Sam Darnold has been taking the majority of first-team reps, and the 49ers are hopeful that Purdy will be ready for Week 1. The team remains optimistic but cautious as they evaluate Purdy's progress.
2. Standout Preseason Performances
Rising Stars: Several rookies are making waves this preseason. Chicago Bears running back Jamal Williams has been a revelation, showcasing explosive speed and agility that could earn him a prominent role in the Bears' offense. Likewise, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Nate Williams has been a favorite target in the preseason, suggesting he could become a key playmaker for Dallas.
Veteran Showcases: Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has shown he still has plenty left in the tank with the Tennessee Titans. His chemistry with quarterback Ryan Tannehill is evident, and if he stays healthy, Hopkins could be a major asset for the Titans’ offense.
3. Injury Updates
Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs have been monitoring the health of their star defensive end, Chris Jones. Jones has been sidelined with a calf strain, but the team is hopeful he will be ready to go for the start of the regular season. His presence on the field is crucial for Kansas City's defensive line.
Los Angeles Chargers: Chargers linebacker Joey Bosa is dealing with a shoulder issue that has kept him out of the last few preseason games. The Chargers are being cautious with Bosa, but the hope is that he will be fully recovered by Week 1.
4. Preseason Surprises and Disappointments
Surprise Teams: The Atlanta Falcons have exceeded expectations in the preseason, with their young roster showing significant improvement. Quarterback Desmond Ridder has looked sharp, and the defense has made strides under new coordinator Brian Flores.
Disappointments: The Denver Broncos have struggled to find offensive rhythm, and concerns about their quarterback situation persist. Russell Wilson has faced criticism for inconsistent play, and the coaching staff is working diligently to address these issues before the regular season.
5. Looking Ahead
As the preseason draws to a close, teams are finalizing their rosters and preparing for the regular season. The focus will soon shift to finalizing strategies and game plans for the upcoming year. Fans can look forward to the season opener, which promises to deliver the high drama and excitement that the NFL is known for.
Stay tuned for more updates as the 2024 NFL season gets underway. With key injuries, rookie performances, and quarterback battles at the forefront, this season is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing yet.

Okay time to clown about the Starlight performance 🤡
During the performance of Starlight during Denver night 2 on the screens the camera intentionally cuts to a view that shows the number 7 in the crowd i believe 4 times. (I check a few videos and it seems like 4 but please tell me if I miscounted)
Regardless one particular time (the 2nd time) the 7 is caught on camera is in this clip below after she sings “ooo ooo we could get married. Have ten kids and teach em how to dream.”
Most notably is that the 7 is backwards. Which could imply minus 7 from 15 which gives you 8. Then she goes on to perform Back to December on piano which is a track 3. Which is 8/3 Karlie’s birthday.
I just want to note I noticed the 7 in the crowd while I was watching a live stream so it wasn’t just this video or angle. It was on the screen.
Tumblr media
Just for extra clownery 🤡 I’m going to point out what she says during the other times it cuts to the 7
The 1st time is after she sings “look at you worrying too much about things you can’t change. You’ll spend your whole life singing the blues if you keep thinking that way.” And until she sings “he was trying to skip rocks on the ocean saying to me.”
The 2nd time is discussed above.
The 3rd time is while she sings “we were dancing dancing” into the last “oh my what a marvelous tune” (felt reminiscing of DWOHT)
“The 4th time is while she sings the last “Don’t you see the starlight” before the end of the song.
And for the final clown 🤡 bit
The number of times it cuts to the 7 added to 7
7+4=11

Powering Professional Lives Through Leadership & Executive Function Coaching
Tumblr media
What Are Executive Functioning Skills, and Why Do They Matter?
Executive function refers to the mental processes that help us plan, focus attention, manage time, and juggle multiple tasks. These are skills adults often struggle with but rarely get formal training in. When our executive functions—like organization, impulse control, and task initiation—are weak, it impacts our ability to perform well at work, meet deadlines, or lead effectively.
Studies in adult neurodevelopment note that 30–50% of working professionals experience significant challenges in executive functioning—leading to stress, missed opportunities, and reduced well-being.
Where Leadership Coaching Intersects with Executive Functioning
Leadership coaching and executive function coaching both aim to improve workplace behaviors, but they focus on different layers:
Executive function coaching zeros in on habits and routines: How do you prioritize tasks? How do you start projects without procrastinating? How do you follow through consistently?
Leadership coaching addresses broader challenges: communication, delegation, team influence, strategy, and emotional intelligence.
When combined, they become powerful allies. Coaching that includes both builds better self-management and stronger leadership presence.
Common Executive Function Challenges Experienced by Leaders
Difficulty Prioritizing Leaders often struggle to focus on what matters most, burying themselves in low-level tasks instead of strategic priorities.
Time Blindness Underestimating how long tasks take leads to constant overcommitment and stress.
Procrastination Even seasoned professionals avoid difficult parts of their jobs, leading to rushed results and avoidable errors.
Distraction Leaders who can’t tune out noise—notifications, messages, conflicting demands—miss crucial moments of focus.
These challenges don’t just reduce productivity—they erode confidence and clarity in leadership roles.
Benefits of Combined Coaching for Leadership & Executive Function
Benefit - Description
Better Decision-Making - When you pause to clarify what matters, you make stronger choices.
Greater Reliability - Colleagues trust leaders who follow up and show up on time.
Reduced Stress - Structure calms anxiety—leading feels smoother.
Improved Team Modeling - Your team learns focus and follow-through by watching you.
Clearer Professional Development - You know which habits to build next.
Finding the Right Executive Function Coach—Especially Near You
If you're searching for an executive function coach for adults or executive function coach near me, look for someone who:
Holds credentials like ACC, PCC, or a background in occupational therapy or psychology
Clearly outlines their methods for assessing executive function
Provides structured plans: from task lists to time management systems
Shares success stories from adult clients, not just children or teens
Why Leadership Coaching in Colorado Offers Advantage
Whether in Denver or Boulder, leadership coaching in Colorado brings unique benefits:
A culture that values work-life harmony
Networks of forward-thinking companies
Coaches trained in both performance and well-being
Regions like Colorado lead the charge in developing effective, balanced leaders.
Putting It All Together
To build better leadership and executive function, follow three steps:
Assess where you struggle—what daily habits hold you back?
Work with a coach who understands both executive function and leadership dynamics
Practice intentionally—new habits become habits only with repetition and reflection.

Inside the BOA Factory
Inside the BOA Factory https://ift.tt/z4rPSui Why Dual-Dial Ski Boots Might Be Your Next Best Upgrade If you’ve ever struggled with ski boot buckles while juggling poles and dodging the boot-room chaos, it’s time to twist your expectations—literally. We flew from London to Denver to dive into the BOA Fit System Performance Lab and get firsthand insight into how this once-snowboard-exclusive tech is revolutionizing alpine skiing. You’ve seen the dials—on cycling shoes, on golf gear, and yes, on snowboard boots. That’s BOA: the precision fit system founded in 2001 that’s quietly embedded itself into the DNA of over 300 global brands. But now, BOA is hitting the slopes harder than ever before—with a dual-dial ski boot setup that’s not just about ease, but elite-level performance. Why Ski Boots? Why Now? We sat down with BOA’s Consumer Marketing Manager, Brenna Sullivan, and VP of Innovation and Development, Dan Feeney, to ask the big question: why ski boots? “Skiing demands precision,” says Feeney. “You’re transferring force, managing fit, and seeking comfort in extreme conditions. That’s exactly where BOA thrives.” Historically dominant in snowboard boots, BOA’s expansion into alpine terrain has been fueled by a wave of collaboration with top-tier brands and athletes, including Olympic gold medalist Benjamin Raich. And it’s not just hype—BOA’s lab testing tells a compelling story. Inside the BOA Lab: Biomechanics, Pressure Sensors, and Real-World Gains Walking into the BOA lab feels more Silicon Valley than ski shop. Pressure-mapping plates, force-sensing treadmills, and high-speed cameras line the testing area, capturing everything from micro-adjustments in fit to measurable changes in control and stability. Their recent findings? A 13% reduction in peak pressure across the foot, up to 10% greater responsiveness, and improved lateral stability. These aren’t just numbers—they translate to tangible on-mountain benefits, from better carving to less fatigue. Most notably, the dual-dial system (with separate controls for the forefoot and upper cuff) allows skiers to fine-tune their fit mid-run. Forget the buckle dance at the top of the chairlift—this is precision engineered performance. A Revolution in Fit and Feel The real beauty of BOA isn’t just in the numbers—it’s in the feel. By eliminating traditional pressure points and offering micro-adjustments on the fly, skiers can dial in the perfect fit without fumbling with cold hands or stiff plastic. Sullivan adds, “It’s not about replacing buckles for the sake of it—it’s about performance. With BOA, we’ve seen elite racers shaving milliseconds, and weekend warriors skiing longer with less discomfort.” From Snowboards to Slalom While BOA’s roots lie in snowboarding, their presence now stretches across cycling, golf, trail running, even medical bracing. The ski boot application, however, might be their most exciting evolution yet. Collaborations with top brands like K2, Salomon, and Atomic have brought BOA-equipped boots to a broader audience, from powder hunters to park rats. And if you’re skeptical about ditching buckles, consider this: with BOA, boots are quicker to get on, easier to adjust, and far more comfortable for long days on the mountain. Final Turns For the tech-savvy skier or anyone tired of fiddling with four buckles and a prayer, BOA’s dual-dial ski boots are more than just a gimmick—they’re a game-changer. With hard science backing the claims and elite athletes swearing by the results, the future of fit may just be a click away. So next time you see that little twisty dial, don’t just walk by—give it a spin. Your feet (and turns) might thank you. Watch our full factory visit video, hear from the designers, and see the science in action.
