Fun fact: In Sega's House of the Dead series, the "dead" are not zombies but mutants. Yes. Somehow, science was able to create mutants people wearing plaid lumberjack shirts wielding dual axes and big guys wearing overalls wielding chainsaws dangerously.
games and movies will do anything but say zombie or undead it's always something corny like oh no the turned. the unlifened. we must set up defenses against the deathified. don't let the gurglers bite you. everything changed when the moldies came

I've seen it suggested that the 1970 Doctor Who serial "The Ambassadors of Death" derives its title from Wilson G. Knight's essay on Hamlet "The Embassy of Death", and, while I doubt if the serial's name has any literary pedigree (it was originally titled "The Carriers of Death" and the production team at one point apparently considered calling it simply "The Ambassadors"), I think it's worth noting that the phrase "ambassadors of death" appears in the anonymous Elizabethan play Edward III, published in 1596:
"These iron-hearted navies,
"When last I was reporter to your grace,
"Both full of angry spleen, of hope and fear,
"Hasting to meet each other in the face,
"At last conjoined, and by their admiral,
"Our admiral encountered many shot.
"By this, the other, that beheld these twain
"Give earnest penny of a further wrack,
"Like fiery dragons took their haughty flight,
"And, likewise meeting, from their smoky wombs
"Sent many grim ambassadors of death."-Scene 5

I don't think I've ever shared this guy here before! He's a Ramcube Q-Bi 03 on A Pettimal giant sheep body 鈽猴笍

Dude. You know all these facts that you have about this game, do you keep them in your head? In a notes app? Do you research them every single time someone asks a question? Is there a quick way to research this stuff? I am SO confused
it's just in my head. the amount i can remember about just about anything genuinely freaks my irls out. i sometimes have to check what card story or event episode a specific fact is from because i don't always bother to remember the source (need to work on that) and i keep a spreadsheet of events/song data so it's quicker to pull up the numbers but yeah most of it just goes in and stays forever.
#also read magazine articles and blog posts that are posted online about the game. even if you just use google tl#i find a lot of trivia from stuff like that#asks#the trivia obsession thing comes from watching too much pointless as a kid#mod talks

Because people seem to be nuts over the Grimmace Puree, here is the second of the Klask Csupo Ronald McDonald cartoons about Grimace's backstory that is still McCanon (I guess):
youtube
New faces you will have to grapple with existing include the following:
I really wish I was popular or something, and had like my own discord because I've been watching McDonalds cartoons because McD has resurrected Grimance in his own GBC game to sell Purple Shakes. Regrettably, none of what I just wrote was fake.
https://grimacesbirthday.com
Also regrettably true is the prevalence of McDonalds Animated Cartoons in the late 1980 through 2003. See, I knew about the McDonald's cartoons that were done by Klasky Csupo, the animation studio from Rugrats and Ahh Real Monsters. I have the first three on VHS still! I knew there was one more that I never got...
However, there is more. There are SIX into total!
Even wilder, there was two that happened in the late 80's, with only one of those being found recently!
youtube
Please watch that video above, if only for the stupid faces like the following:
So yeah. I want to get popular so I can force...er...show my members how weird it gets (BECAUSE THE VERSION RONALD I WATCHED WAS MUCH MUCH WEIRDER THAN THIS)

Espio says a lot of proverbs and idioms.
And here's a couple Japanese ones you might not know about:

"Being kicked by a horse" is a Japanese proverb. It's based off an old poem (dodoitsu) from the Edo period:
浜恒伄鎭嬭矾銈掗偑榄斻仚銈嬪ゴ銇Μ銇勾銈夈倢銇︽銈撱仒銇俱亪 Hito no koiji o jama suru yatsu wa uma ni kera rete shinjimae
People who meddle in other's love affairs, get kicked by a horse and die.
When you get a C rank in Sonic Heroes, Espio says the Japanese idiom: 骞冲钩鍑″嚒 heihei bonbon
Heibon (骞冲嚒) means "ordinary" and repeating it like this emphasizes something as very ordinary or mediocre.
When you get a D rank in Sonic Heroes (he also says it in some event dialogue in SHTH 2005) Espio says the Japanese proverb: 娌规柇澶ф暤 yudantaiteki
This is translated to: Carelessness is one鈥檚 greatest enemy. (in this case) It can also be translated as: don't let your guard down / danger comes soonest when it is despised.
#espio the chameleon#sth#sonic heroes#sonic x#screenshots#dialogue#informative espio post#now THIS is NICHEPOSTING!!! hello does anyone care about this random trivia on idioms and proverbs or is it just me hello hello hi#i LIVE for pointless trivia on my favs. also sorry the sonic heroes quotes are unreadable from the thumbnail#there's probably more but if you think im willing to sit through 3+ hours of Espio audio files JUST to see...#if he says another proverb or idiom that i haven't heard before... you'd be right!!#i'd TOTALLY do that but i both dont have the time and i'd rather be focusing my attention on other things#i have to slow down jp audio files 100 times to understand things still and look up a lot but i try pls forgive#i kinda want to talk about all of espios ranking quotes in full later just for fun#i'm pretty sure his e rank is an idiom too but i'm not as confident about it xD; he just does this...

i will say im not super invested in the idea of the show giving us too much information on c&a. like itll be super cool if we find out about it! and im sure itll be relevant information if we do but i think the information we get is going to be not super indepth, because im not sure itd match the tone of the show? its less about mystery and like The Lore and more about the characters and examining how different characters respond and have been responding to the environment set up by the show
(it WOULD be fun to learn more details about c&a and i AM curious i just dont think itd actually enhance much abt the show itself, and as such, i dont think its super important writing wise for the audience to learn about it either)
that SAID i do ascribe to the idea that ALL of the cast members worked for c&a before the ended up in the circus, no exceptions. i dont really know how say gangle or zooble wouldve ended up there, but i feel like they all ended up there one way or another. and i think most of the cast doesnt talk about their life in the real world bc its gone and theres no reason to dredge it up (or theyve forgotten it or most aspects of it), but it does make it fascinating that not even pomni, who has the least reason to avoid these topics at least early on, broached the subject of what in the WORLD is c&a UP to. it literally is never brought up ever as of ep 4. which makes me think the company was probably always super shady in some way to the pt that its employees were kinda desensitized to the idea that its c&as fault that horrible things happen
#tadc#i do think any discussion or reveal abt c&a is gonna have less to do w lore#and more abt like... the role that exploitative companies have in the harming of their employees#we see a little bit of it in how gangle has been affected by the same concept in ep 4#and i think theres hints of it in caines character but not enough for me to make a super concrete point about that#point being that i think c&a isnt going to be much of a 'literal' figure in the show so much as what it represents#hence why i dont think well actually learn too much about it. bc itd be kinda pointless and redundant#circus discussion#i think the way gooseworx has described abstraction honestly ties into it#its one of the first pieces of like. 'trivia' (i guess it counts as trivia??) i learned that gave me this feeling w c&a#'you get stripped of every bit of individuality you have and become something completely unrecognizable'#really leans into the idea. also makes sense why gangle being back in a job she had in the real world#would be implied to bring her so close to abstracting then really#i think in general the show is very much centered around people reacting to a bad environment and how different people like. Survive That#and c&a as a company epitomizes that. the circus is an extension of it after all#everything that happens in the circus is the responsibility of c&a#they dont need to tell us about c&a the circus does enough#and it serves to add a grounded element to the setting. cus like yeah theres already many elements drawing from real life#but the idea of working for a shitty company that treats its employees horribly is like. thats smth very grounded in reality#theres more i could go into on that front but i was drawing oc concepts so ill stop this post here#OH YEAH#and also i think the lack of discussion from characters generally implies that they know minimal about what role c&a played in this#so i think it also makes sense for the audience to not see this. pomnis confused abt the setting first and foremost and is adjusting#but the rest of the cast has no reason to question something they know they have no answers to#and if they did talk about it it wouldnt give anything to the audience anyway#except maybe kinger? but i feel like he doesnt actually... have the answers that one might assume he would#certainly involved in some way with c&a computer science wise but we dont even have confirmation of what he specialized in#just that it was computer science. he literally couldve just been the guy who made sure the servers were running at all and thats it#i feel like well never know but apparently pomni being an accountant is relevant so? who knows? maybe we WILL learn about their jobs!

Game shows i have watched ranked by how good i think i would be at them from worst to best
Make some noise - I think I would be extremely bad at this because i don't like noises
8 out of 10 cats do countdown - I would not be bad at this game except that the ticking clock and jimmy carr both really fucking piss me off. Again, Noises.
The Chase - Listen I think I COULD do this, except there are a lot of questions about british geography and I've never been to britain and I haven't bothered to study it
Tipping point - let's be real this one is 90% luck and 5% questions about british geography
Game changer - How could I possibly know how good i would be at this one
The Hard Quiz - I would cry but I might be okay at it if i picked the right topic (the crying is because I cannot take a joke and the host is mean)
Taskmaster (any version*) - I think i could be uniquely funny in this because of my disabled body, and my autistic transgender swag. Would I win the series? No, but I might win one episode.
Who wants to be a millionaire - I COULD win this. I could. Watch me. I might flunk out. But I think I'd get at least a little money. Again. my Autistic Transgender Swag is important.
Um actually - Obviously I am the ideal candidate for this show, because my family is always telling me that "Actually" was my favourite word when I was four years old and also I'm an incredibly huge fucking dweeb.
*taskmaster Australia is hosted by the same man as The Hard Quiz. I reserve the right to cry.
#this is so bullshit#but i have been thinking about it#my deepest most embarrassing secret is that i want to be a celebrity#but im not hot or talented#but I am a little bit funny sometimes#and i like trivia#and fulfilling pointless objectives

Help /lh
Wanna help me plan the best christmas party by answering a few trivia questions?
Link to QUIZ
You might have heard of the British game show Pointless, in which contestants have to answer questions that had previously been given to the public. Their scores correspond with the amount of people who had also answered the questions correctly, but the catch is that they [the contestants] are aiming for the lowest *correct* score possible, with 0 (Pointless) being the winning score. They have to basically make the judgement call of their own knowledge and hope to answer the questions that the smallest amount of the public knew.
I am trying to recreate this for a family holiday party, but for authenticity's sake, I will need public answers to start with.
The questions will be quite simple in format, only requiring a 1 word/phrase answer at a time, but will differ in level of difficulty (depending on subject's familiarity of the topics) and be mostly about pop music, movies, tv, iconography + a little bit of general knowledge. Just to be sure, at the beginning of each round, there will be short instructions.
You will be able to view your own score at the end, but don't sweat it if you don't know the answer, just go with your gut feeling, and most importantly, have fun
Thank you for participating and helping out.
note: Google Forms is case and spelling-sensitive... unless someone could maybe help me with this? So far i just accounted for various capitalisation options but not sure how to account for spelling in people's individual scores
Edit: description of the game

did you know there's a species of frog that's hairy and breaks it's own bones and fights with them as a defence mechanism
I did know! Hairy frog or horror frog or wolverine frog
Did you know there is a species of frog that incubates its eggs in chambers on the mom鈥檚 back? (Fair warning don鈥檛 google this frog if you鈥檙e not good with body horror or you have trypophobia)
#you鈥檇 be surprised the amount of pointless facts my brain holds#I鈥檓 full of approximate knowledge and trivia

FINALLY got this sussed out. all the gang members' birthdays (and zodiac signs to boot)
some notes:
i determined characters' birthdays by matching sign personalities to their personalities, some less accurate than others. and honestly doing that gave me some inspo for potential further character development
neither screwball nor juicebox went to college. although screwball did temporarily move to the town where the art school the majority of the gang members attended was located, which is how they met
hot-rod took a gap year before attending art school. that should explain the extra length of time between grad years
the assignment of specific days was random at best, with some utilization of my synesthesia (my mind assigns colors to numbers. i tried to find the most fitting color combinations where i could. 6/12 worked out great bc in my mind 6 is orange and 12 is cyan which are screwball's colors :P)
and of course sharky and shipwreck's birthdays are just. mine and boat's actual birthdays bc why change it lol (of course he has the cat sign. of course he does)
i dont follow astrology but i like knowing people's signs and kinda learning a lil about the signs to see how accurate they are. just for trivia's sake. ive never looked at a horoscope i dont think ever
#gangs bay#will figure out scott and amy's birthdays some other time idk#also this is how i found out that of course scorpios (me) and aquarius (my dad + brother) tend to not get along like Yeah thats my reality#oh also i recently figured out that while im usually one of the oldest in my classes boat wouldve been one of the youngest in his#crazy how that kinda thing works out huh. i love knowing pointless trivia about people it's fun

Thomas the Tank Engine trivia time: Although you would think that the iconic windmill from the original title sequence is on Thomas' branch line, thanks to it's appearance in the title sequence, David Mitton's map of Sodor reveals that it's actually located on Toby's old line. This is supported by Toby & the Stout Gentleman, where Toby is seen passing the mill twice in that episode. In fact, proof that the mill is suppose to be on Toby's line can be gathered from the scenery, as the marshland matches that seen on the Lower Arlesburgh set.

Thank you to everyone who liked this. It fills me with a lot of confidence to try more videos. It means a lot.
youtube
People on Twitter were talking about Time Crisis 3, in a meme fashion, which I love Time Crisis 3 (and any light gun games). So, on the spur of the moment, decided to talk about one of my weirdest lightguns.
If you do decide the watch the thing above, please tell me if if you like it. I want to do more videos where talk about things (like essay videos over games) but I am super self coccineous about my voice.

the first Starfinder 2e book has dropped, and i already love it. you have old school giant floating brain aliens with abilities called "infodump" where you use your intelligence skill check rolls to debuff enemies by "stupefying" them
"You muster myriad minutiae that you subsequently use to overwhelm a creature鈥檚 mind with pointless trivia". Good lord

That post about voices and voice training was actually really frustrating to read as a trans girl. I think it's incredibly arrogant to pretend it's some hugely offensive thing that when people don't have an understanding of the effects HRT has on the body. I certainly didn't know how it worked before I realized I was trans and that information became relevant to me, and I'm certain the same is true for most people.
Like maybe this is frustration as someone who's also disabled, but getting angry when a layperson is unaware of an obscure bit of medical trivia just seems so... Pointless?
An ally doesn't need to have an understanding of exactly how my medications work to be another voice advocating for my right to access that treatment. If they're an Endocrinologist treating trans patients, yes absolutely they need to have a detailed understanding of what it does and does not do.
But otherwise?
I feel like we all collectively have bigger problems to worry about than whether or not everybody knows how estrogen works.
If i know anything, I know that living around, interacting with transfems is enough to learn about voice training. What does it mean, then, if one does not know about it? More simply, voice training is hardly niche, It鈥檚 instead a common transfem issue, and expecting non-transfems to know about it is not actually that high an expectation. How can you be an ally to transfems without knowing the slightest thing about us?
