Psssst! Hey! Yes, you! We need to talk about clubs:
Using the Clubs for Immersive Gameplay
Of all the systems that Sims 4 has, the club feature is probably one of my favourites (Restaurants are a close second, but they're not why we're here today!) Clubs are one of the easiest ways to increase your immersion when you play and make the random townies that show up on community lots just a tiny bit less random.
The Basics
Often, people are mostly concerned with the groups their active sims are in. You might already have a club to keep track of your sims' closest friends, study group, or baby daddies, we don't judge here.
Clubs are also a great way to automate what you want your sim to be doing with less micromanaging, but for immersion, we're actually more interested in clubs for the sims you don't (or rarely) play.
WTF are the neighbours doing?
Most of the pre-made clubs are kinda meh. I prefer to add my own so I can make my community lots just a bit more lively and make sure people's activities make just a tiny bit of sense because the autonomy in this game is not great. These are just for inspiration based on clubs I often add to my own game:
A group of teens who meet at the retail clothing store to try on clothes and gossip about Nancy's nose job or whatever.
A local bowling league (complete with uniforms) who meet and bowl - just don't fuck with The Jesus.
An HOA of Karens who meet at the park to clean, raise property values, and be mean to people.
Geeks and gamers who meet at the local arcade to awkwardly flirt over pizza.
Comedians who meet at the local comedy club - you can even use the club doors to make a VIP backroom only for the performers.
Sports teams - such as a basket team who meets at a local basket court, or a swim team who meets at the local pool (you can even give them tiny matching speedos!)
Scouts! The scout feature is cute but it's a rabbit hole, boo! But you can make a Scouts club, complete with uniforms, and have them show up in parks where they can do various activities and work on their badges. Add a teen or two to supervise the younglings, their parents will be so proud, aww.
A sorority or fraternity in university who meet up at the local bar in matching varsity jackets to make all the other students feel inferior.
A group of old ladies who meet at the park to knit or cross-stitch and brag about the accomplishments of their descendants.
A "business" club, usually CEOs, lawyers and such, who meet in fancy bars to hold important business meetings and probably commit white-collar crimes, so predictable.
If you have a sim with an office/work from home job and you'd like to pretend they actually go to work, you can make an office building and a group of "coworkers" who'll show up to drink coffee, chat, and work on computers next to them in the office. It'll even simulate rotating desk assignments for an instant capitalist hellscape!
The possibilities are endless, and I find the club feature really useful to add little interesting scenarios to the background of my gameplay.
Thanks to SQOTD for inspiring this!

daniel jacobi in the wolf 359 finale is in the fucking scenario of all time. imagine. imagine that, after a tense hostage situation, you get shot in the leg, even though you did nothing to deserve it. this is a non-issue, of course, because thankfully your evil science overlords brought an automated surgery system with them. leg gets patched up. you take none of their meds. eventually your team figures out that they probably popped a tracker in your open wound while their spaceship was playing operation™️ so, either by your own volition or someone else’s suggestion, you end up with the job of distracting the super dangerous dude who basically specializes in murdering other super dangerous dudes while everyone else handles the rest of the station. you decide to do this by locking yourself in a room with him. you probably have a little hand-to-hand combat training, but making shit blow up isn’t necessarily an intimate activity. you are only moderately dangerous. also, you still have a bullet wound. also, you’re a bit of an asshole. and for some reason you brought confetti into space.
so you get the absolute shit beat out of you for probably the better part of the day while everyone else does their part before the bomb you planted earlier finally joins the party and blows up the room you’re in. thankfully, you’re an expert, so you get out of the way in time to not end up in bits and exit this room probably feeling pretty good about how the plan turned out. only to join the rest of the crew to find that your captain is asleep, your commander is bleeding out in a pool of her own blood, your comms officer has no memory of what the hell he’s even doing here, the AI in charge of the station is rebooting, there are 11 minutes before you all end up freefalling into the star you’re orbiting, and someone fucking harpooned your (ex) boss. so you, your bullet wound, and your various injuries from several hours of losing at physical combat and surviving a bomb exploding gather everyone up into the one functioning ship you have left and take off into space. and somehow you still had the most normal day out of everyone else there

The Rise of DeFi: Revolutionizing the Financial Landscape
Tumblr media
Decentralized Finance (DeFi) has emerged as one of the most transformative sectors within the cryptocurrency industry. By leveraging blockchain technology, DeFi aims to recreate and improve upon traditional financial systems, offering a more inclusive, transparent, and efficient financial ecosystem. This article explores the fundamental aspects of DeFi, its key components, benefits, challenges, and notable projects, including a brief mention of Sexy Meme Coin.
What is DeFi?
DeFi stands for Decentralized Finance, a movement that utilizes blockchain technology to build an open and permissionless financial system. Unlike traditional financial systems that rely on centralized intermediaries like banks and brokerages, DeFi operates on decentralized networks, allowing users to interact directly with financial services. This decentralization is achieved through smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement directly written into code.
Key Components of DeFi
Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs): DEXs allow users to trade cryptocurrencies directly with one another without the need for a central authority. Platforms like Uniswap, SushiSwap, and PancakeSwap have gained popularity for their ability to provide liquidity and facilitate peer-to-peer trading.
Lending and Borrowing Platforms: DeFi lending platforms like Aave, Compound, and MakerDAO enable users to lend their assets to earn interest or borrow assets by providing collateral. These platforms use smart contracts to automate the lending process, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
Stablecoins: Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies pegged to stable assets like fiat currencies to reduce volatility. They are crucial for DeFi as they provide a stable medium of exchange and store of value. Popular stablecoins include Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), and Dai (DAI).
Yield Farming and Liquidity Mining: Yield farming involves providing liquidity to DeFi protocols in exchange for rewards, often in the form of additional tokens. Liquidity mining is a similar concept where users earn rewards for providing liquidity to specific pools. These practices incentivize participation and enhance liquidity within the DeFi ecosystem.
Insurance Protocols: DeFi insurance protocols like Nexus Mutual and Cover Protocol offer coverage against risks such as smart contract failures and hacks. These platforms aim to provide users with security and peace of mind when engaging with DeFi services.
Benefits of DeFi
Financial Inclusion: DeFi opens up access to financial services for individuals who are unbanked or underbanked, particularly in regions with limited access to traditional banking infrastructure. Anyone with an internet connection can participate in DeFi, democratizing access to financial services.
Transparency and Trust: DeFi operates on public blockchains, providing transparency for all transactions. This transparency reduces the need for trust in intermediaries and allows users to verify and audit transactions independently.
Efficiency and Speed: DeFi eliminates the need for intermediaries, reducing costs and increasing the speed of transactions. Smart contracts automate processes that would typically require manual intervention, enhancing efficiency.
Innovation and Flexibility: The open-source nature of DeFi allows developers to innovate and build new financial products and services. This continuous innovation leads to the creation of diverse and flexible financial instruments.
Challenges Facing DeFi
Security Risks: DeFi platforms are susceptible to hacks, bugs, and vulnerabilities in smart contracts. High-profile incidents, such as the DAO hack and the recent exploits on various DeFi platforms, highlight the need for robust security measures.
Regulatory Uncertainty: The regulatory environment for DeFi is still evolving, with governments and regulators grappling with how to address the unique challenges posed by decentralized financial systems. This uncertainty can impact the growth and adoption of DeFi.
Scalability: DeFi platforms often face scalability issues, particularly on congested blockchain networks like Ethereum. High gas fees and slow transaction times can hinder the user experience and limit the scalability of DeFi applications.
Complexity and Usability: DeFi platforms can be complex and challenging for newcomers to navigate. Improving user interfaces and providing educational resources are crucial for broader adoption.
Notable DeFi Projects
Uniswap (UNI): Uniswap is a leading decentralized exchange that allows users to trade ERC-20 tokens directly from their wallets. Its automated market maker (AMM) model has revolutionized the way liquidity is provided and traded in the DeFi space.
Aave (AAVE): Aave is a decentralized lending and borrowing platform that offers unique features such as flash loans and rate switching. It has become one of the largest and most innovative DeFi protocols.
MakerDAO (MKR): MakerDAO is the protocol behind the Dai stablecoin, a decentralized stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. MakerDAO allows users to create Dai by collateralizing their assets, providing stability and liquidity to the DeFi ecosystem.
Compound (COMP): Compound is another leading DeFi lending platform that enables users to earn interest on their cryptocurrencies or borrow assets against collateral. Its governance token, COMP, allows users to participate in protocol governance.
Sexy Meme Coin (SXYM): While primarily known as a meme coin, Sexy Meme Coin has integrated DeFi features, including a decentralized marketplace for buying, selling, and trading memes as NFTs. This unique blend of humor and finance adds a distinct flavor to the DeFi landscape. Learn more about Sexy Meme Coin at Sexy Meme Coin.
The Future of DeFi
The future of DeFi looks promising, with continuous innovation and growing adoption. As blockchain technology advances and scalability solutions are implemented, DeFi has the potential to disrupt traditional financial systems further. Regulatory clarity and improved security measures will be crucial for the sustainable growth of the DeFi ecosystem.
DeFi is likely to continue attracting attention from both retail and institutional investors, driving further development and integration of decentralized financial services. The flexibility and inclusivity offered by DeFi make it a compelling alternative to traditional finance, paving the way for a more open and accessible financial future.
Conclusion
Decentralized Finance (DeFi) represents a significant shift in the financial landscape, leveraging blockchain technology to create a more inclusive, transparent, and efficient financial system. Despite the challenges, the benefits of DeFi and its continuous innovation make it a transformative force in the world of finance. Notable projects like Uniswap, Aave, and MakerDAO, along with unique contributions from meme coins like Sexy Meme Coin, demonstrate the diverse and dynamic nature of the DeFi ecosystem.
For those interested in exploring the playful and innovative side of DeFi, Sexy Meme Coin offers a unique and entertaining platform. Visit Sexy Meme Coin to learn more and join the community.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Ruins of Aschimos (PMDA) is both a tabletop campaign and system I've been working on for the better part of three years, now. The first year was spent basically entirely on my own as I worked on the vision and intent of it- after that, testing with some of my friends began. Things quickly climbed from there. Today, I'd like to discuss the system- though, a lore post will come later.
Part of the reason I wanted to make PMDA as a system myself rather than take the easy answer and use someone else's was that a lot of systems chalked up to: A) Dungeons and Dragons with a thin veneer of Pokemon B) A system that is very unique, but not very much like Mystery Dungeon C) A system that was intended for a different kind of Pokemon game entirely, but was workshopped, homebrewed, or otherwise supported to be able to be transformed into a PMD format.
While projects like Pokerole and Pokemon Tabletop Reunited are great in their own rights, it's not the kind of game I wanted to host. I wanted something very close to the games- an ally phase, an enemy phase, tile-based dungeons and similar enough gameplay where one could feasibly run the actual game itself in an engine like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Origins with a small amount of tweaking.
Thus, I started work on PMDA. Throughout the entirety of development, the core idea has remained the same: This should be a tabletop adaptation of PMD first, and its own system second. As such, every hallmark of basic PMD is here, from Reviver Seeds to tile-based grids and even the functionality of turns. There is no initiative. You choose the action order of your own team, then all enemies act after your team has. Moves have their own PP pools, you don't have a single agglomerate pool all of them pull from. Your Treasure Bag has limited space and gets upgraded as you complete missions. The same is true of your vault. All the things that seem like they should be a bit obvious for PMD to have.
But there's still a lot of custom content. New Looplets. New consumables. Almost every item from the mainline games has been adapted to PMD rather than adapting PMD to suit them. Here's a couple as an example.
Tumblr media
All information about the game is stored in a single location. From Abilities and how they work to IQ skills, a lot needed tweaks to function in a tabletop rather than a video game, and I enjoy a lot of them. My players have been too. Abilities that were missing some of their mainline-game effects (Like Super Luck's item influencing powers) get re-included and adapted to PMD, as well. Jaze has been a big fan of that one, but Beatrice, their Ralts, is a lot more direct about it. I think, in executing the idea of making PMD work for the tabletop, I've succeeded. I've had more than one of my players tell me that it feels like they're playing the game, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, with their friends online. And that's the highest praise I could ask for.
In storing everything in one place, making an automated character sheet with Google Sheets was very very simple... At first. I could go on for hours about automation woes, but suffice it to say, everything works, which I didn't suspect would be possible without some custom programming for Foundry VTT. I do hope to make a VTT module for it eventually, but I haven't done real programming in years. But the ease of use has only increased as time has gone on and I've updated the sheet more and more. It's the kind of project I'm not sure I'll ever 'finish'.
So what, then, is the game actually like? PMDA is a game of stacking benefits and highly customized builds that reward specializing above all else while punishing your glaring weak points individually, but rewarding coverage as a team. Everyone is strongly encouraged to take a role, and while it isn't necessary, life gets a lot easier. Strangely, the best comparison that comes to mind is Final Fantasy, of all things. Jaze, the team's Absol, has been a mixed member of their team ranging from their Ice Beam attack to hit at a range to Knock Off to pry problematic items from the enemy. Their Future Sight attack is powerful but difficult to use. I'd call them akin to a Rogue job with a splash of magic, for an analogue. Their greatest asset so far has been Perish Song- something they've used to great effect against enemies they absolutely should not have feasibly survived, which is its own thing. Its status as a high-risk move is largely mitigated by their greatest supporting passive- the IQ Skill Nontraitor, which prevents their Perish Song from reaching allies' ears. Their greatest asset by far, though, has been Double Team, allowing them to align their stats to raw offense and evade attacks with quick thinking and good alignment of multiple clones rather than some nebulous evasion chance increase. All around, very well built for a level ~25 Pokemon.
The greatest student of specialization, however, is a Pokemon on another team altogether- player Flare, a Torchic with a streak of fury, she immigrated to Aschimos from a land far away, over sea and mountain. Her build is all offense, all the time- and though she has no points in Speed to facilitate accuracy or evasion, her offense is so finely focused that she can annihilate even Water-Rock types in just one attack. To get her melee build into the fray fast, she uses Flame Charge, which serves as a dash similar to Quick Attack over a far, far larger distance in this system- a unique move among its class, it doesn't stop until it hits something. If she misses, she goes careening into a wall- but this also serves to keep her out of danger if she does miss, a deliberate tactical decision. She makes use of Flame Charge alongside her Egg Move, Low Kick, to keep all enemies well out of arm's length between turns. Often, if one even does survive, they struggle to actually attack her at all. Combine that with her Agility, to cover glaring weakness (To great cost- it still has very low PP) and you have a berserker nuker who acts twice a turn with Speed Boost to no penalty. If you hit her and she's still standing, Blaze ensures she's hitting back three times as hard. And once you factor in her first (and only, thus far) IQ Skill, Sweeper, she restores a PP to the move that defeats an enemy every time- so her relatively low count of PP in Low Kick is rarely at risk. Specialization to the ninth degree, though, she's very helpless against any enemy at a poor angle to attack at- as this system has moves that affect at splash, or even direct-target orientation, if she isn't aligned enough with an enemy to charge at them she's in trouble. She knows this, expects it, and even anticipates it by letting their team's 'tank', a Totodile with the ability to take damage for their allies, handle the problem for her while she gets into position.
All of this to say- so far, the system has encouraged team play, and most of my players have eagerly participated in and facilitated that. Leveraging its existence as a tabletop system, a team of just one or two Pokemon doesn't work very well, though three can get by just fine. Mono-themed teams still work thanks to the fact stats are rather divorced from the species possessing them- you could build a physical Gardevoir here and make use of the elemental punches she got thanks to Gen 3, you could build an Absol that leans into their Special move pool while maintaining the supportive qualities rarely used in their species, or even take a Lucario and make a brave and unflinching tank out of them instead of a glass-cannon bruiser. I love that. You can really shape the Pokemon you love into working the way you want YOUR character to be, manifesting their personality into their build and vice-versa. It makes no sacrifices in customization to make characters work, giving Pokemon all manner of Looplets, Emera (which are permanent, here), IQ skills and more to characterize and build with rather than any complicated skill webs or arbitrary ability trees.
I could gush about the mechanics for hours- goodness knows I have- but in truth, the rules themselves are very much WIP while we play the campaign. And what a world it is. Stay tuned for insights on the first adventure module being written for the system, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Ruins of Aschimos.
If you want more right away, please, check out one of my players' blogs, as seen reblogged today- they've been running an in-character daily blog for PMDA and it's been a treat to see, not just for their insights and perspective, but because their passion for the world and characters is just so, so welcome.

Can you give us more descriptions about the casino? And mayhaps some headcanons about how our ocs and characters interact with it? <3
Regarding Alex's casino,
I don't have a lot of details or solid plans about how it will look or function in the story,
Right now, I'm calling it the "King's Crown Casino", although I don't know if that's permanent or not yet.
I liked the idea that the color palate is lots of black, and grey, and purple, I think that palate is kind of fitting of the vibe Alex himself would give off.
When Alex delivered Evangeline (@skyrim-crossing) to the Lucky 38, House offered him a reward, and Alex requested that House help rebuild the casino with the aid of the Securitrons
Tumblr media
After some arguing about improper utilization of securitron models, House eventually relented at the request of his daughter, and The King's Crown was rebuilt, the top floor renovated into Alex's personal workspace, and the warehouse redesigned (without House's help or knowledge) to serve as the base of operations for Alex's raider activities.
He keeps the raider and casino businesses separate, for all intents and purposes the Casino's work is extremely professional and 'legal' (if legality is even a concept that has any meaning in this new world)
Tumblr media
The casino itself sits on the way to Freeside, but far enough away that most caravanners and travelers use it as a rest stop before continuing their journey, as such as it has all the amenities that a good rest stop has - there's restaurants, there's a mall, kind-of, sort-of, it's a small handful of opened shops selling the bare essentials, weapons, ammo, armor, food, chems, so on and so forth, but a vast majority of this mall is closed off and abandoned.
It tends to cater more towards the average wastelander, as opposed to most of the casinos in New Vegas that thrive on glitz and glamour,
The showroom mostly has the same cast of characters, a couple singers and actors doing their own thing mostly unsupervised, but that also means that they lack any true vision in what they are doing, so it's not the most popular aspect of the casino.
As far as security goes, Alex spares no expense, he has automated turrets at every entrance and on every side of the building, and due to his close friendship with The King, that faction oftentimes serves as hired guards, and when the King needs a break from the stresses of Freeside, he has a nice fancy suite in the Casino's hotel.
There's an indoor pool if you don't mind the rads, the purification systems are on their last legs, and until Evangeline eventually takes it upon herself to fix them so she can experience a clean shower again, Alex just kinda leaves em to rot away.
(This requires some context, after the death of Frank Horrigan in Fallout 2, the Chosen One is given a quest to bring his body parts to a merchant to sell as memoribilia. Alex got his hands on Horrigan's helmet, and it is his prized jewel, kept in a heavily guarded display in the game room.
Tumblr media
The Casino has an 'inner circle' of people who take care of most of the responsibilities while Alex is away, they're something of a family of their own, with each member having dedicated tasks; one handles the merchants, one handles the gambling, one handles security, and one handles guest services and the hotel.
The showroom also serves as a psuedo-nightclub, when there aren't shows or performances happening, and the VIP booth is reserved pretty much only for Alex and his closest friends, because the price is too high to get in unless you are in the post-wasteland's 1% equivalent.
Alex's fondness of Sunset Sarsaparilla, lead to him distilling and creating an alcoholic moonshine variant of it that is sold exclusively in the Crown, aptly named "Sunshine" (this was inspired by Nukashine from 76, sue me lmao)
Tumblr media
There's also a vintage diner right by the front door to the left when you walk in, they sell all kinds of pre-war foods made with post-war ingredients; brahmin burgers, gecko dogs, iguana on a stick (the iguana kind, not the Fallout 1 kind lmao), it's probably the most popular part of the casino, and entirely thanks to Evangeline's pre-war sassy ass being devastated that she couldn't find good burgers anywhere on the Strip.
Tumblr media
I might add more to this and expand on the casino later, as time goes on, but for now, this is all I've got to offer,
Thank you for the question, Sugar. Love you! 🧡🧡🧡

MagnaPool vs. Saltwater Pools: Which One Should You Choose?
Tumblr media
Are you considering changing your pool system? You are not alone. Many pool owners are starting to look past the traditional chlorine systems. Two of the most popular options today include the MagnaPool mineral system and saltwater pools. They both have their advantages. The decision comes down to what is most important to you - comfort, water quality, maintenance and extensive cost.
Let's simplify this as much as possible so you can determine which system is better suited to your needs.
2. What Makes a MagnaPool Different?
A MagnaPool® uses a blend of magnesium and potassium minerals instead of traditional salt or chlorine. These minerals are specially developed to keep the pool clean and to make swimming more enjoyable. The result is water that feels soft, looks sparkling clear, and is gentler on your skin and eyes.
The system does need specific equipment. You’ll need a Hydroxinator, proper filtration (glass media is recommended), and genuine MagnaPool minerals not just any mineral mix. What you get in return is a pool that feels like a day at a luxury resort every time you swim.
The MagnaPool® system, available at VIPool, doesn’t include added salt, which sets it apart from other systems. It’s designed to give you clean, clear water without causing irritation or dryness.
3. How Saltwater Pools Work
Saltwater pools are more common and work by turning salt into chlorine through a process called electrolysis. Even though chlorine is still present, it’s produced in smaller doses and released gradually, which means it’s softer on the skin than standard chlorine pools.
The water in a saltwater pool doesn’t taste overly salty like the ocean, but it can leave a slightly dry feel on your skin over time. It also means your pool equipment, like metal fixtures, may wear out a bit faster because of the salt.
4. Water Quality and Comfort
MagnaPool water is often described as silky and relaxing, offering a resort-like swimming experience right in your backyard. It’s gentle on your skin, won’t sting your eyes, and leaves your hair feeling soft. People with sensitive skin or allergies often prefer this option.
Saltwater pools, while an improvement over chlorine, can sometimes leave a slight salty taste or feel. Prolonged exposure can also cause issues with certain metals and pool finishes.
5. Maintenance Needs
When it comes to pool maintenance and repair, MagnaPool® requires fewer chemicals and offers a stable system if set up correctly. The use of glass media filters helps keep the water clearer and reduces the frequency of deep cleans.
Saltwater pools need ongoing checks to maintain the right salt balance. The chlorinator cell also needs to be cleaned regularly to ensure efficient chlorine production.
For both systems, having a spa maintenance service is recommended to keep everything running smoothly and to avoid long-term damage.
6. Environmental Impact
MagnaPool stands out for its eco-friendliness. When diluted properly (5:1 water ratio), the backwash water can be reused for gardening or irrigation. It also requires fewer added chemicals, helping to reduce your pool’s impact on the environment.
Saltwater pools, on the other hand, can contribute to soil and plant damage if backwash water isn’t managed correctly. The salt can accumulate in the surrounding soil and affect nearby vegetation.
7. Equipment and Long-Term Costs
Installing a MagnaPool system might cost a little more initially due to the need for specific minerals and a proper filtration system. However, many homeowners find that the lower maintenance and fewer chemical purchases make it more cost-effective over time.
Saltwater systems also come with some costs, including the regular replacement of the chlorinator cell and possible damage to equipment due to salt corrosion.
Both systems work well with cleaners like the Polaris Cleaner, which helps to keep debris and dirt out of the pool, reducing manual cleaning time.
8. Spa Maintenance and Cleaning Support
Regardless of which system you choose, regular spa maintenance service is important. A professional service can:
Check mineral or salt levels
Inspect and clean filters
Maintain your Polaris Cleaner or other automatic devices
Ensure your pool equipment is running properly
Routine pool maintenance and repair help extend the life of your pool and keep the water safe for swimmers.
9. Which Pool System is Right for You?
Choosing between a MagnaPool® and a saltwater system depends on your personal preferences, budget, and how much maintenance you're willing to do.
Choose MagnaPool if you want:
A premium swimming experience that’s gentle and refreshing
Reduced chemical use and softer water
An eco-friendlier system with reusable backwash
Choose Saltwater if you prefer:
A slightly simpler setup with widely available equipment
A system that still uses chlorine but is less harsh than traditional pools
A more budget-friendly option upfront
10. Conclusion
Both MagnaPool and saltwater systems offer great alternatives to traditional chlorine pools. If comfort, water quality, and environmental care are important to you, the MagnaPool system may be the better choice. It offers a unique and enjoyable swimming experience with fewer chemicals and lower ongoing care.
No matter which system you choose, reliable spa maintenance services, a good Polaris Cleaner, and consistent pool maintenance and repair will help you keep your pool sparkling and safe all year round.

This is not a complete thought, but it seems as though what people want is not so much a job, but something like a feudal title to a job. This would involve some sort of system where when an industry loses jobs due to automation, part of the difference in price is passed on to those put out of a job by the new machines, "buying them out." Likewise, narrowing the pool of resumes to consider would make job searching less humiliating for employees.
Obviously, this isn't in tune with the nature of markets, which are about the constantly shifting underlying conditions of the world.
Markets produce immense prosperity (when laws against dumping toxic waste are enforced), but a lot of people find them intolerable. In practical terms as well, people benefit individually by insulating themselves from brutal capitalist competition while forcing it on their suppliers.
A good project for politically or philosophically-inclined economists might be to figure out how to make markets more psychologically comfortable, or hide market mechanisms from those who find them psychologically disturbing, while retaining overall efficiency, in order to avoid declining standards of living from political interference.
Obviously, no system can completely prevent political interference, as it's a matter of individual and collective will.
I already have my work cut out for me with other projects.
(This may be something for @regina-bithyniae specifically to chew on.)

Why Choosing a Propane Pool Heater is the Best Decision for Your Pool
Installing pool heaters is important because they help keep the water in the pool warm throughout the year, particularly during winter. With a number of options available, propane pool heaters are becoming the standard due to their efficiency in performance and quick heating at an affordable rate.
Tumblr media
Propane Pool Heater Installation Near Me
If you have searched for "propane pool heater installation near me," you probably are on the right track of investing in something really worthwhile for your pool. We consider below some of the key reasons why a propane pool heater can be one of the best decisions, how it will serve you for comfort and wallet ease in return.
Fast and Efficient Heating.
One benefit that propane pool heaters have over the rest in terms of speed is water heating. Whereas electric heaters normally take a few hours or even overnight to warm up your pool, propane heaters increase the temperature of the water in a very short period and hence you can always swim warmly any moment. They work properly for any pool that is used either on short notice or very infrequently. Besides, if you have a propane heater in your pool, you won't need to wait all day to plunge into the warm water on cold days.
Energy Efficiency and Cost-Effectiveness
Other goodness with propane heaters is that they are energy-efficient. It is possible to have such a unit convert as high as 95% of the fuel to heat, thereby being one of the efficient ways to go for pool heating. Such efficiency will translate into lower consumptions of fuel, and consequently, operational costs.
Generally speaking, if you were to compare the costs of energy, especially for areas where propane is much more accessible, propane would likely be much cheaper coming from electricity or natural gas. This efficiency could very well equate to savings that are significant over time in your energy bills.
Therefore, "propane pool heater installation near me" such a search is an excellent way to help you save money over time. Although the initial cost of installation can seem highly daunting, it usually pays for itself back rather quickly when you come to realize the reductions in cost each and every month.
Environmental Benefits
Another advantage of a propane pool heater is its environmental benefit. Propane is a clean-burning fuel, meaning it produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to other fossil fuels such as coal or natural gas. Using propane translates to an easy way of heating your pool in an eco-friendly manner. In addition, propane heaters can be used with solar pool heaters for αυ ).
END.
Reliability and Durability
Propane heaters are also very reliable and last quite a long time. Since they are manufactured to work efficiently in varied weather conditions, from the driest to the coldest of climates, if one did their routine maintenance well, a propane heater would last well for many years with not too many problems. Of course, like any other device or equipment, regular maintenance would be required to keep it well.
That is where a dependable service for pool equipment repair becomes beneficial. Pros can do regular inspections and maintenance so as to not only prolong this investment in your propane heater but also prevent any very costly breakdowns. In case you experience any problems in your heaters, such as heat malfunctioning, improper heating, or strange noises, then it is time you called a professional repair service company right away.

Pool Equipment Repair Service
Finding the Right Installation and Repair Services
Installation of a propane pool heater is better left to the professionals, while there is a level of risk if the installation is done wrongly. In your search for "propane pool heater installation near me," make sure to hire an esteemed company with experience in pool equipment installation and repairs. A good installer will not only install your heater correctly but also extend upkeep and repair services in the long run. Whether one plans to take advantage of an in-ground pool in dead winter or even to expand that swimming time in which he spends, a propane pool heater is a very valuable investment. Fast heating, energy efficiency, and high reliability-these are just a few reasons why it maintains a position within the top selection among the pool owners. Just make sure your heater is installed by a professional and schedule regular maintenance through a trusted pool equipment repair service, and you'll be able to run it without problems for many summers to come.

dagger-and-blowgun-fused-into-spear pamaagi
or: the transfer from dice pool to the violence dice in GUBAT BANWA
Tumblr media
i've written about this in a longer devlog, but i wanted to take a secondary abridged (and personal) dive into the change. also i'll probably start releasing devlogs and essays back on my patreon soon because damn if that place isn't barren
gubat banwa is a game of larger than life martial heroes fighting for their convictions in a setting rooted on southeast asian folklores and cultures. before december, and even during its kickstarter, i was pretty set on the game being a dice pool system. i felt it accurately conveyed the feeling of that sekiro-esque back and forth: one attacks, the other defends. every dice is an attack launched, a sword swing, a gun breath to aim or part of a gun's loading sequence, an arrow trained on an enemy. every defense dice is an attempt at a parry. it was a cool concept! and there's definitely ways to make it sing and shine
Tumblr media
unfortunately as with all game design choices, not every cool idea fits snugly into the greater whole--if i wanted my game to sing and shine, each component must work in tandem with the other components. it's a choir, or a puzzle--one mechanic slightly off is fine, one that's completely off kinda wrecks the entire thing
i found that the dice pool back and forth interaction more or less worked better for a more non-grid based combat game. one that works perhaps with zones and rules. one where the fiction zooms in to a specific exchange between the attacker and the defender. while this is also a game design objective of gubat banwa, it had to be in tandem with the fact that it is a tactical grid game as well. it had to put in mind that the mechanics were also focused on forced movement, collisions, reactive moments from other players, etc.
Tumblr media
in a non-grid based combat game, where the focus is on that flurrious exchange only, then it might have worked. but that is unfortunately not the only important thing in gubat banwa's design goals.
additionally, sussing out and feeling out one's own tactical consequences were hugely obfuscated by the dice pool. the probabilities weren't as clear, the attack forecast was esoteric, and was even hard to properly model in an automated system. this detracted from the simple and tactical design of the game.
Tumblr media
so the Violence Die was established. Each technique had a die or a number of dice that was rolled--this determined whether the attack hit and how much damage was. it was the attack roll and damage roll in one.
Essentially, making an attack goes like this: Roll Violence Dice (can add any bonuses to the Violence Die here) -> if higher than target's EVADE, keep going. Otherwise, the attack is avoided -> Add the defined attack Prowess (FEROCITY for physical attacks, SPIRIT magick attacks) and any other damage modifiers, including any additional damage dice -> the target then reduces that damage by their Defense (PARRY or RESILIENCE, as defined by the Technique) -> Apply the final damage to the target. This keeps going until the target gains Damage equal to or greater than their POSTURE, in which caste they are defeated as they are struck with a decisive blow.
Tumblr media
The process of adding damage replaces the process of counting Hits. The process of reducing damage replaces the process of counting Parries and cancelling Hits. They reside in similar design mindspaces, and so with a simpler rolling mechanic I was more or less able to transfer the math to a more linear math while keeping the "exchange" feel of an attack. All because of the forced processes one must go down when rolling an attack that strikes home and is not avoided.
Tumblr media
In the fiction, rolling Violence Dice is the attack attempt. The swinging of halberds, the lightning arrows loosed from the bow, the sword swings as the swordsman advances. If it is avoided, the target manages to back away, use the environment to avoid the attack, flip away, vault over, or otherwise completely avoid the attack.
Tumblr media
If it hits home however, the target is forced to reckon: the damage applied and the bonus damage is the number of attack launched in the assault, or perhaps the precision of an attack, or perhaps the number of mantras and mudras uttered to cast a spell. They must attempt to PARRY it away, or they must test their RESILIENCE as the attack washes over them. Fireballs they block, with their armor or their shields or their bare forearms. Sword strikes they quickly move to meet with their own strikes, parrying and ducking and flipping over them.
Tumblr media
Then, their Posture is shaken of course as they receive Damage. As they gain more Damage, the more they know that they are going to be open to a Decisive Blow, and so they must be tactical.
In physical play, rolling a single die has made things much snappier (and even in online play). The excitement of the roll is still there: there's a chance you might EVADE the attack completely, after all! the change has become beneficial for everyone--for those that like to describe their attacks, for those that just interface directly with the mechanics, and much more. this piece of tech arose after a particularly grueling game of D&D Onslaught.
before this, i even played with an attack - counterattack system, kind of like pbta "if you roll mid you also suffer harm", but it felt pretty counterintuitive for a tactics game where you're already using up a lot of resources to do things, and also one where the initiative is alternating (which already does the whole, you act the world reacts feel pretty well). attacking becomes a dangerous proposition for any fighter, which does not feel well when you're martial heroes.
the dice pool was a good idea but it was detrimental to the larger process of the tactics game. i had to balance that to really achieve the "martial arts tactics fantasy" that gubat banwa really wanted to achieve with its fighting mechanics.
i called this blowgun and dagger to spear because in seasian martial ways their blowguns were long enough to be shafts and their daggers were often placed on top of staffs to make spears. i combined the fictional sensibilities of the dice pool system with the easier and more transparent math of the Violence Die system to create a veritable spear of a mechanic

Don't you realize this is all just pointless? He's too far gone to help. You know that, too, Vee; you're smarter than this. It'll be easier to just… say your goodbyes now.
Vee looked over at the Toon Twisted in question Glisten.
He laid on the couch next to her bed (having been moved closer to her for both of their sakes), ichor dripping from his torn-apart midsection and pooling onto the blanket and cushions that had already long since been stained black by now. He slept fitfully; trembling, shivering, as black-blooded tears streaked down the one eye he had left.
However... He was still sleeping. All things considered, this was one of their better nights.
She wished she could do more for him. To better offer comfort, to ease his pain in some way. Hold him close. Do something more than just watch him suffer all night.
But she needed to 'sleep', to charge her battery, too. Staying awake all night to keep an eye on him already placed some strain on her, forcing her already slow charging process to take much longer than if she simply entered her low-power sleep mode overnight. She was rarely able to reach a fully charged battery these days, or even come close to it. To forgo charging entirely for a night? That could spell disaster for the next day.
Still, she shifted positions, and though she couldn't move from her charging pad bed, her microphone reached out toward Glisten, resting on his shoulder as if it were a hand. And that contact seemed to cause him to still, somewhat. Calm him a little, if only very very slightly.
That was good. If only very very slightly.
How many times had it been now? That his Twisting would complete, and, his mind lost and turned to a violent desperation, she would be forced to abandon his husk down below? Only for him to be brought back (manually, for even the Reanimation Station's automated systems seemed to have given up on him) in an even worse state than he'd started last time.
How many times did they have left?
How long, before his reconstruction left him hostile from the start? Before the ichor drowned out all traces of Glisten for good?
...
She knew.
It was risky. Dangerous. For everyone. If anyone else had tried to do anything like this, she'd have vehemently argued against it, no doubt. Twisteds were confined to the lower levels of the Center for a reason. If there was one thing she and Dandy could agree on, it was his "no Twisteds in the elevator" policy.
She'd had enough respawns of her own lately to prove her actions stupid, too.
She was being irrational. The most logical thing to do would be to accept her loss, let him go, and to try to move forward.
But...
Vee gripped her thin bedsheet tightly in her hands. When she spoke, her voice was quiet, nearing a whisper so as not to wake her best friend from his already precarious rest.
"...𝙸 𝚌𝚊𝚗'𝚝."
Not him.
To live without Glisten... Yes, she could imagine it. She didn't even need to; she lived it once, years ago, in that time before he was even a concept, let alone a living being. She could replay those memories in her mind at any time she wished.
So she knew.
It was not a life she ever wanted to go back to.
She may have thought that she got along just fine back then, but now?
A world without joy, without light, as though her very soul had shattered like glass was all that would await her.
She did have bonds with the other Toons, ones that she certainly valued greatly, but Glisten was different. Special. He always had been. She'd never been quite sure why that was, but it didn't matter. The thought of losing him forever...
It would be like losing a piece of herself.
'Saying her goodbyes'—a permanent one, to him—was one of the hardest things she could possibly do. And for once, she found a challenge that she wasn't willing to step up to.
Surely it wasn't too late. Surely there was something she could do for him. Some way to reverse, or to at least stabilize, his condition.
"𝙸'𝚕𝚕 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚊 𝚠𝚊𝚢 𝚝𝚘 𝚏𝚒𝚡 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜. 𝙸 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚝𝚘."
She held several human libraries' worth of information stored within her databases. She had more tools and knowledge at her disposal than any other Toon could ever hope to contain. She was supposed to have everything and anything she'd need to know recorded in her data banks.
What good was any of it, if it couldn't help her save her best friend?
