@esperantoauthor some extra notes on Stray, aka things I wish I had known:
So far, I am in chapter 10 of 12 (I think?), I have played around 6 hours, and I am enjoying the game and recommend it. I do have some things to say that might weight in in your decision:
This game has no manual saving option, only auto save. This autosave kicks in a lot: every time you reach a new place, when you find a collectible, when you find a special place, etc. but there have been moments where I walked around for like 10 minutes, hoping to trigger an autosave, because I wanted to quit the game and was tired. At moments like that, I missed the manual save.
The dev say it's best to play this game with a gamepad, and yes, that is true, but the game doesn't recognise any button schemes apart from the Xbox controller, even when you use a different one. I have downloaded a mod so that is shows up the correct buttons for my procontroller, which was a relief. Especially in stressful moments. Kinda sad the devs didn't take this into account. (There is also a similar mod for PS controllers)
This game is NOT relaxing. I was expecting a cute, cosy kitty sim and it can be that, sure, but not all the time. There are stressful moments where monsters can kill your cat, swarm you, and there's stressful music playing in the back. There are also areas with disturbing light (non-human and non-animal) gore with creepy music playing. It's not a horror game! Still far from it! And there are no jumpscares or anything. But if you are going into it thinking it's just "cat walking around game", you'll be mistaken and every person on the internet who has called it a cute, relaxing, cosy game owes me €1000 in damages.
I do REALLY REALLY like this game and the last point is not necessarily a bad thing in my eyes, I just was bamboozled by it, since it was unexpected.
And it still is a cat simulator. I will climb on every surface! I will kick over every bottle! I will scratch every spot I can scratch! I WILL MEOW!!!

Imo I think the GameCube design isn't practical for a lot of games. Maybe the cluster would work better if the A button was smaller but it's awkward to hit the combination of X/Y and the combination of b and any other button.
Diamond design let's you hit most button combos that aren't opposite each other easily, and typically you rest your thumb along some combination of y/b, x/a, or a/b. I think it works well on both joycon or procontroller, may be more cumbersome on joycon if you have larger hands though
gamecube was the best designed controller of all time exclusively for the button cluster that gave you easy thumb roll access to all buttons but also gave you the a button as a thumb rest (because it’s the one you press the most) and took into account the frequency with which each button gets pressed in its design rather than doing the stupid diamond design that gives no button priority and rests your thumb in the shitty blank space between buttons
#i think my fav nintendo controller is the wii remote just bc its so approachable for an audience that hasnt played video games before#also sorry for the random reply. ive just been thinking about this lately

Maybe I should have bought BRCF for the switch because I forgot how cramped my hands get when I play kbm 😅
Hopefully there's a way to connect my procontroller to my computer <- doesn't own any other controllers

@esperantoauthor Okay I've only played, like, 50 minutes of it. I bought it on sale for 40% off, wHICH WILL END ON THE 19TH, on Steam and I will not shut the fuck up about it because I am a Switch girlie and every Steam game I own has the "fuck I wish I had it on Switch" thing going on. But also... 40% off. So Steam it is. And since I am not used to PC gaming, my laptop isn't specifically made for gaming so I only booted it up to see if the game runs on my laptop. If not, I could ask for a refund within 2 hours. This is also why I haven't played a lot, cause I am still deep in Cassette Beasts post-game and I'll continue Stray later.
So far I am having a blast. I am a teeny tiny kitty cat. I can press A (or B, cause fuck the procontroller I guess?) to meow! MROW MEEEEOOOW MLEM MLEM MEEEOWWw!! Someone told me I had to take my time with it and I am. I am embracing the catness. I NEED to climb on every barrel and push off everything from any surface.
Graphics wise, it looks better than Switch, which was to be expected, although I expected the cat to look better (from what I've seen re: comparisons), but the environment looks stellar. I did put it on 30fps to be safe. I can't say I had issues running it on 60fps, but I'm just anxious due to my aforementioned lack of PC gaming experience.
Now for motion sickness... Okay, so, the game tells you it's better to play this with a gamepad instead of M&K so I hooked up my Switch procontroller to my laptop, which is what I did for Persona 3 Reload as well, cause I cannot stand M&K anyway. BUT my procontroller.... has Joy-Con drift. Not sure if you're aware of this, but it basically means the input on my joysticks is shitty and it moves BOTH joysticks (cause life hates me) at rapid speed without my input. As a result, yes, the right joystick that is the 360 degrees camera did start rotating at times at rapid speed, making it unpleasant and dizzing, BUT this is purely a drift problem. When I had the drift under control, or when it wasn't drifting I didn't really get motion sick but I also am aware I don't get motion sick as often compared to others. (Like my friend Ava gets very dizzy from Splatoon 3. I can play it without issues.)
TL;DR: So far so good.

this also has the added thing of "Worlds Worst Setup", you may be wondering what that is. let me paint you a picture:
my desk (not that big) with little trinkets in front of my (main) monitor + my keyboard + mouse + second monitor + my pc tower
introducing: the switch dock. big because its gotta fit a whole switch in there, its extremely annoying having to blindly feel for my monitor's hdmi so i've currently left it in (added bonus of Wire Nightmare 1 and 2, because its got the charger plugged in as well)
introducing: my controller. my joycons dont connect so i have to use my luigi procontroller (fine with this), it uh. also needs to be plugged in though. so thats Wire Nightmare 3
introducing: my headphones. i can no longer hear anything from my computer, but at least i can hear my switch! Wire Nightmare 4
ive created the worlds strangest tripping hazard
doing a rendered piece so that when i post my first chapter of this fic i can have some lovely art accompanying it, however i forgot to take into account that im completely enraptured by playing brothership every chance i can
#majora.txt#but it works so like really whos winning here (still not me)#its almost as bad as my “gaming in bed” setup but without the feeling of being trapped
