The first day I ever knew freedom,

Stopped trying to be who I’m not

I left my faith in a train station restroom

And my name in a mall parking lot

I carefully ripped out the labels

From the worn lining sewn in my soul

But left the horns and the tail that you gave me

Cause without them I’d never feel whole

I shaved off my shame and my sorrow

Replaced them with crowns made of bone

Carved myself the teeth you’d imagined

Of piercing and flesh tearing stone

I slowly turned into the monster

You saw when you looked in my eyes

I gave up my name and religion

And finally came back to life

your bedroom is mostly empty, with off-white walls chosen by your angel and a mattress laying on wooden pallets. there's a huge window above your make-shift bed, and a wardrobe by the door. the giant windows are a common theme throughout the apartment and, in your opinion, one of the only good things about it. the only exit is your east and it leads to the main room. the room feels even emptier without your angel, who's been at the hospital for an Authority-mandated stay for too long. you miss him, and you're a bit worried. the Authority doesn't have a good record for taking care of the angels, or even just ignoring them. you've heard too many horror stories.

you're tangled in thrift-store sheets, alone, and you kinda want coffee.
