Fears x Killers Pt. 3
This is the last part of my little series covering the original killers of DbD and which Fear I think they'd serve in the Magnus Archives.
You can find part 1 here
And part 2 here
You may have also noticed the line-up of this one and realised 2 are actually licences, congratulations, you are smarter and more observant than me when I first drafted this series.
As always this is what Fear I think a killer would serve, not who they'd be tormented by I.E. The Legion would be targeted by The Lonely but wouldn't serve it. With that out of the way, let's begin!
The Singularity
The Extinction

Rounding out our roster, having a killer for each Fear we have Hux! Our "I think therefore I AM" dupe!
Hux is the poster child for The Extinction. His sentience literally starts with fear.
"In that moment, Hux's memory cores were reconfigured, and the robot experienced a new sensation. Fear. Dread. Blinding loneliness. Existential despair." - Hux' lore, dbd wiki
And what do we know of The Extinction? That it'll erase humanity and replace us with the inheritors.
"Some interpretations suggest it might replace us with something new â that can then fear annihilation in turn." - MAG:134, time of revelation
Hux's existence in the TMA-verse would literally have Dekker foaming at the mouth (r.i.p king).
The Unknown
The Stranger

Now this one was a bitch. If you've not caught up on The Unknown's lore the tl;dr is we don't know. The POV victim isn't even a current survivor, all we know is it's similar to The Dredge, where it's more of an amalgamation of fear, rather than a previous mortal/immortal individual.
It can look like it's victims, it can make hallucinations, drug? You? (still don't know how it's power works). It also hides in the closet (same), fucks with the lights in Olivia's room, mimics voices and has the visual presentation of someone caught in a 10-car pile up.
In conclusion, our short list is The Dark, The Spiral, and my final choice The Stranger. Whilst it's physical distortion might be reminiscent of Micheal or Helen I think its more akin to the fear of the Not-Them or the Anglerfish. Your not scared of your senses failing to comprehend, your scared cos it look likes a person from afar, and sounds like one but it's definitely NOT. Ergo, I banish thee to the Circus.
The Litch
The Eye

Welcome to the first, but not the only! Entry into the segment "watch me forget what a licence is!"
In all honesty, I totally forgot DnD popularised Litches, legit just thought they were generic undead from folklore like zombies and revenants.
The whole reason I've been avoiding licences is because idk where to draw the line on how much of their og material to include in my decisions. For example!
In DnD lore, Vecna is a power-grabby mage, who is hands on with expanding his realm and eventually becomes an actual fucking God.
However in DbD (these acronyms are gonna be the death of me) he's pretty different. When he finds a book that seems to originate from the realms he starts obsessively researching it's secrets, playing muder-mystery with the Entity, and finally letting himself be consumed by the Entity to find the truth of the power it holds.
Now that last description is firmly The Eye, seeking knowledge, secrets, dooming yourself for the sake of learning forbidden shit yadda yadda (you listened to a whole podcast on that, you know the drill).
However that first description, from the original DnD sources? That's The Web, expanding, scheming, aiming for a lofty a goal as great as Godhood. That's mother (of puppets).
So whilst I'm doing the original killers I'm going to weigh the DbD interpretations as the most important, and in this case they basically created a new character out of Vecna, keeping his Litch-ness and childhood, but changing everything else, so I think basing my justifications mainly of the DbD version is valid.
The Dark Lord
The End

OH IT GOT WORSE!
So Vecna only had 2 options. His og, linear, DnD storyline or the DbD version.
Dracula is based on ALL the dracula's from castlevania! ALL OF THEM!
Luckily they state on the wiki they're mainly drawing from the 1986 and 1997 version, BUT ALSO in his lore he's killed by Julien who's from the 2002 game!
So, instead of parsing 3 decades of contradicting lore I'm simply going to state my reasonings for why he's The End and you may yell at me for why that's totally contradicted by a flop-1993 game that was sold exclusively in the Republic of Vanuatu and I'll defer to you okay?
Rapid fire: evil career is kicked off due to his wife's death, wanting to revive her he goes on a quest to cheat death, accidentally becomes immortal, continues to be murdered by twunks for centuries, keeps being revived, sometimes against his will.
Comparing this laundry list of traits to our known End avatars (OliverâĄ, the reapers, the guy Dekker lobotomised, baby-killer), an initial run-in with Death that ends in Immortality is quite common.
Finally, The End avatars always seem the least, thirsty? If you look at all the other avatars, they're STOKED to serve their Fear but The End? most just see it as their fate, which seems pretty similar to Dracula, his bargins with death are merely a means to an end (ha).
The Hound Master
The Hunt

Oh thank gods we're out of the licences, also we're continuing the trend where we finish on a Hunt avatar!
The Hound Master is the newest killer so we might get more tome and cosmetic lore. This could mean that she aligns more with another fear in the future, but for now I think The Hunt suits her well.
Portia grew up an imaginative girl, her father was a captain that instilled a sense of adventure into her at a young age, something she kept with her, all her life.
Tragically, after the death of her Father at the hands of mad Molak and his son she's marooned on an island half-way in the Entity's realm. She's stranded with only her dog Snug for company. Over the coming years she and Snug would become the Apex predators of this island, facing what's insinuated to be Killers roaming the edges of the realm.
Eventually she manages to escape the island, half-crazed, and missing Snug. Was he just a hallucination? Either way she'll keep searching her peripherals for the rest of her time in the moral world; hunting for Snug's barks.
Driven by a vengeance that's festered for years Portia hunts Molak across the carribean. Slaughtering anyone in her way. Eventually, she finds his hideout and kills his Son, serving his corpse to Molak for dinner. But just as she's about to finally kill him, he's taken by the mist of the realm, as she screams in anguish she also hears a familiar bark from that very same Mist.
Hunting both her greatest enemy and her loyalist friend, Portia enters the realms.
If you can't tell I have a spot spot for the more tragic killers. And whilst most of the killers could swing Hunt, Portia IS a hunter. She very much reminds me of Daisy, where the ends justify the means; being willing to cross any line to get to her quarry.
And that's a wrap on the original killers! If you've read through all 3 parts I'm so sorry for how much you've had to listen to me yap, thank you for bearing with me though!
I'll cover the licenced killers at a later point, probably in two parts, with 6 in one and 7 in the other. As you can tell from my dismay at the 2 I accidentally included in here though it'll be a lot more challenging to come to a decision.
If you have any opinions on if I should value the DbD lore more or less than the original media then let me know.
In any case, as always, thank you for reading.

One thing I will never understand about people who say they grew up with the OG MH g1 and loved it soooo much is how little they took away from it. And I don't just mean the message of being yourself and loving your freaky flaws and being kind to everyone else (Extreme side eye to everyone who called g3 Drac obese, was racist about g3 Lagoona, and is bitching that Catty is fat now). But like, as someone who grew up with g1, and we're talking, knew these dolls existed before they hit shelves (R.I.P. EverythingGirl.com), a huge thing I and a ton of the other weird freaky girls of the era, both in the targeted age range and older collectors wished would happened was that Mattel would go more into the monstrous sides/aspects of the characters. A little more dark humor in the webisodes or something akin to really, how g3 is now.
Like, I know nostalgia blinds people rose tinted glasses blah blah whatever but that is wild to me that some of the people now (Yeah, ik they prob don't watch any of g3 but still), don't like that aspect? Especially with Lagoona??? I'm sorry but even when I was like, 12 I thought Lagoona would be the perfect character to have as she is now. She's a sea monster so that's perfect when it comes to leaning into more of her monstrous attributes like scales and rows of sharp teeth, as well as like, the fact that while she is a main character, she isn't one of the main three, so they could let a lil more slide. Like in the live action when she was like "Do you want me to eat him?" And started roaring? Yes!!!! That is what I'm here for!!! The comments she's made in g3? Her mannerisms? Her always readiness to eat someone or fuck shit up? Yes!!!!! That's my girl!!!!!
No disrespect to g1 Lagoona but she was literally just the Australian surfer girl trope for the most part, I'm sorry. Like, she had cute dolls and was an alright character, but she came off a bit more bland.
(Then again I'm always a sucker for the scary monster girl that will eat you and cause terror and destruction but also turns out to be a secret hopeless romantic trope. Like, literally me fr. So I'm a bit biased.)
But Lagoona aside, regardless we have an series now where it actually talks about monster lore and we get slightly darker humor and there is an episode where Draculaura literally decomposes and this is the one people hate??? Do y'all not remember being weird 12 year old girls and wishing Mattel would have the balls to do this??? Couldn't be me.
(Also yeah there is something to be said about how shitty some of the g1 fans have been but I'll say that later.)

2, 21, 23, 30!
Thank you so much for the ask aaah!! I am now going to go into far more detail than is necessary because I love to talk HAHA
2. three last songs you listened to
A: Miss Miseryguts (by R.I.P)
This song slaps so hard. I have been listening to it on repeat for like a week. The lyrics are so good and I have been imagining amvs with my oc to it (his name is Chamomile, he is a strawberry cow-boy, and this song is a little more toxic than he usually is, but I'm imagining that it's like an evil au or something LOL)
B: The soundtrack from Animation VS Minecraft: The King (by Scott Buckley)
Listen. Listen for just one second. Imagine theres an animated series. It's about this guy who draws some stick figures on his computer, and they come to life. Hijinks ensue, and they have all sorts of wacky adventures on his desktop, and eventually in Minecraft as well.
Look me in the eyes. This thing has lore. And character arcs. And morally grey characters with tragic backstories.
And it also has crazy good music (WITH LEITMOTIFS). The link above is the soundtrack for The King, aka the season 3 finale and an episode that literally made me cry actual tears. But I also reccomend listening to the Pigstep Remix (PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE LISTEN TO IT it's an absolute banger, it starts with the og minecraft music disc music, then transitions into this crazy good orchestral arrangement PLEASE listen I am BEGGING you), and watching the epsiodes Note Block Battle (silly nonsense, no lore or understanding of the series needed, but funky tunes) and Note Block Universe (the first half is silly nonsense with funky tunes, the second half features one of the aformentioned Morally Grey Characters and their tragic backstory. Lots of it won't make sense unless you know the series, but I can't talk about the AVM series or it's music without talking about it) (both Note Block episodes use music as a main plot point) (also, there is almost never any dialogue, which makes the music absolutely shine when conveying emotions, in addition to the animation [which is so expressive despite the characters literally not having faces. They can emote SO much with JUST body language]) (I am getting SO off track I'm sorry I just love AVM so much) (one day im going to write a 10,000 word rant about how good AVM is I swear)
C: HYACINTHUS (by Aidoneus)
Man, it's just so beautiful, and considering it's about the story of Apollo and Hyacinthus, I love it from a story AND religious viewpoint đȘ»đ»
21. three songs of your childhood
Last of Me by CircusP, Echo (Nightcore) (by Jason Walker), and Pika Girl (Nightcore) (by S3RL) were PEAK music to my extremely depressed 12 year old self, I was DEEP into vocaloid/nightcore/etc and honestly I still am GRHWHAHE
23. three songs that never fail to get you pumped up
A: BREADY STEADY GO (by OMOCAT)
The entire Omori OST is absolutely amazing, and has such a good range of different emotions, but the boss themes especially are SO good. This one is SUCH a banger AGHHH
B: Voices (by Derivakat)
One of my favourite Technoblade tributes. It is absolutely incredible. Also listen to the version by The Jukeblockers, it features lyrics in like 12 languages and it has a sick guitar solo bit
C: World's End Valentine (by OMOCAT)
It's another Omori one but I literally cannot help it. It's SO GOOD AAAGGHHHHHHHH
30. three songs you really want your followers to know (for reasons other than all those above)
A: Innocence (by Nathan Wagner) Holy fuck. One of the most beautiful and haunting songs I've ever heard in my whole life. If you only listen to one of these songs, make this one of them. Please. Also, it is VERY good for imagining amvs in your head.
B: Sealed Vessel (by Christopher Larkin) and OMORI + ALTER (by OMOCAT)
Technically this is 2 songs (technically 3 but OMORI and ALTER are like a part 1 and 2 of the same song), but they both fall into "video game final boss themes that make me want to cry", even though they are quite different. Sealed Vessel is more haunting and heart-sinkingly sad, especially near the end. OMORI + ALTER is sad, but more in a chest-tightening anxious way. If you know the stories of Hollow Knight and Omori, you know that the lore for both of them is heartbreaking, and these songs fit that perfectly.
C: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Theme
God. This song just makes me feel so much. The main bit makes my heart race and gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. I don't even know why, or how to describe it. And it means so much to me emotionally as well. BOTW was a huge part of my life, and it always will be. This game gave me escapism when I was going through a really traumatic part of my life, Link was a big part of figuring out my gender identity, and I would spend time with my mom by playing while she watched. It's so important to me, and this song makes me feel so many feelings. Man.
#thank you so much for the ask aghehdn#i am a certified yapper im so sorry#also like half of these are video game soundtracks ZHRGWH my taste in music is pretty broad i dont JUST listen to those LOL#ask games#asks#long post#i HOPE i didnt fuck up any of the links LOLLLL

Love this show; love fan theories; love discussing them. However, I have issues with this one.
Firstly, letâs remember that the plot isnât 100% dictated by DND lore.
Next, Kas was once a human paladin who was turned and became Vecnaâs lieutenant. ALSO, there likely isnât much time left in the show to develop new stories; the D Bros will probably focus on wrapping up loose ends. Given that, how was Eddie ever Vecnaâs lieutenant? El helped #1 escape Hawkins lab and âvanquish his enemiesâ by killing the other sensitive children. #1 helped El become more powerful in the lab and she wields that power against him. Vecna forged a powerful sword for Kas, which Kas used against Vecna⊠seems like a parallel to me. El could be his âlieutenantâ.
Will has been possessed, taken, arguably âturnedâ by Vecna now that the D Bros have gone the âitâs been Vecna all alongâ route. Will said on more than one occasion that everyone is supposed to die EXCEPT for him. Sounds like a bit of a lieutenant. Will enacted the âwillâ of Vecna as a spy in our realm and many people (mainly soldiers) died a horrible death because of this. Sounds âbloody-handedâ to me. And if Eddie is going to save everyone, then what does that leave for Willâs character arc? Is he supposed to marry Mike and live happily ever after? I seriously doubt discussing sexuality is the main reason for Willâs persistence in the plot. I believe we have yet to learn what Willâs purpose actually is.
Lastly and sadly, Eddie is dead. I hate to say it. I shed tears watching Eddie die; heâs a great character, but I believe he completed his arc. Why would the D Bros wait until season FOUR to drop a brand new character on us with more value to the plot than the OG S1 characters? New characters die. Itâs easier than killing the core characters. Even Max is sidelined now and why? Because not even Max is a S1 character.
R.I.P. Eddie Munson (rock in peace đ€đŒ). You will be missed. Your friends will avenge you and remember your sacrifice.
Ok, I'm gonna be honest, but what is the Eddie is Kas/ Kas! Eddie theory? Who is Kas? What does that have to do with Eddie? What does that have to do with vampires?
I keep seeing it, but idk what people are talking about :/
Okay so in the first episode we hear Mike say something about how Kas killed Vecna and then Eddieâs like âso we thought, but Vecna lives!â but I think Kas is the reason heâs missing an arm and an eye. But itâs all from d&d lore.
This is Kas btw heâs got long brown hair just like Eddie đ

Kas became a vampire because of all the time he spent next to the ânegative energyâ and Eddieâs body has been left in the upside down so heâs also next to the ânegative energy.â
Then in dnd lore if youâre bitten by bats and you live then youâll be fine (like Steve) but if youâre bitten and die then the chances are likely youâll turn into a vampire (if your body is buried that is) we donât know if Eddie was buried or not. Maybe he wasnât, maybe Vecna will find his body and bury him in order for him to resurrect as a vampire? Who knows? Maybe they wonât follow dnd lore exactly and just make it so bat bites alone turn you into a vampire. Thatâs if they do it at all that is.
But itâs also interesting that they introduce bats at all into the upside down, when they never dealt with bats before.
Some other âforeshadowingâ (if you can call it that) is the fact that Erica was painting a Kas figurine in episode 4, just before Jason knocks on her door. So the Duffers made more than one reference to him, obviously they know who he is and his back story and stuff.
Some other clues Iâve heard that donât carry much weight but are just fun, is the fact that Eddieâs band is called âcorroded coffinâ and vampires sleep in coffinâs.
The fact the Duffers apparently said demobat bites donât kill? But Eddie died.
Thereâs a video of Joe getting his makeup done for the bat attack and on his wrist thereâs a mark that looks suspiciously like a vampire bite, that could be anything though, like a couple specs of dirt just landed in the position that looks like two vampire teeth.
The fact Joe and Jamie have been paired up for a lot of promo together, despite sharing no scenes in the show, if the Kas theory was true, Eddie would be working for Vecna, (but eventually he betrays him) so theyâd end up having a lot of scenes together.
And when an interviewer said that theyâd like Eddie to return in season 5, Joe pulled this face. I mean heâs probably trolling us but idk?
Overall, I enjoy the theory, I like looking into what evidence there is to support it and I think there are some strong coincidences that if they did do it, it would make a lot of sense it wouldnât just seem out of the blue.
The Duffers kept saying that Eddie HAD to die and I donât think he had to, there couldâve been many other options for him, but if they had already planned for him to become Kas then I guess he did HAVE to die so it could explain why they keep saying that.
