Radio Free Monday (March 17, 2025)
Good morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday for March 17, 2025! RFM posts links to peoples' personal fundraisers asking for community assistance, on bothĀ TumblrĀ andĀ Dreamwidth.
Ways to give
Redbud-treeĀ got hit with a $350 heating bill due to a drafty apartment building. They're on a fixed income, but are really close to having it paid for and just need a little more to be able to have it paid off by the end of this month.Ā Read more, reblog, and find the donation link here.
LeopardbonesĀ mother was hit by a sneaker wave and some debris in the wave. She's badly injured and needs financial help.Ā Read more, share, and find the donation link here.
Recurring needs
TransgendzĀ is is struggling to keep itself and it's roommates afloat. One of it's roommates will start chemo to fight cancer. Meanwhile, transgendz needs help with food, rent and a new washing machine.Ā Read more, reblog, and find the donation link here.
Remy, who is multiply disabled, is currently experiencing homelessness after domestic violence. They're currently in a motel, which has taken up all their SSI; and their application for housing assistance was denied. They need funds to stay in the safe housing of the hotel while they await a court date.Ā Read more, share, and find the donation link here.
ChingaderitaĀ is raising funds to cover necessities and vital healthcare for themselves and their family. She is without cellphone or computer, making it almost impossible to apply for jobs. They're still living with mold, and are hoping to make repairs before the rainy season begins, which will make the mold much worse. You canĀ read more and support the fundraiser.
Community resources
(I haven't gotten the "resource" sections set up yet. That will go live on Monday, March 31 - so in two weeks. Until then, this is a bit time-sensitive, so I'm posting this here now, shortly after the link was submitted.)
NerdykeppieĀ shares information about Keshet and the Hebrew Free Loan Society, who are partnering to offer interest-free loans of up to $10,000 for individuals and families to support relocation costs to another state because of anti-LGBTQ+ laws, policies, and climate in their current state of residence.Ā Read more, reblog, and find the link hereĀ or go straight toĀ the Keshet page, which links to a screening form for interested folks.
=====
And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. Post items for my attention at theĀ Radio Free Monday submissions form.

Radio Free Monday
Good morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!
A note before we begin -- normally I don't do this (as you all know) but I happened to see a comment on one of the RFM posts this week by someone offering help in their crowdfunding campaign, and it reeks so strongly of the worst kind of predator that I wanted to get the word out --Ā kendrajanesblogĀ is apparently running around fundraising posts offering to help, but the only post on their own blog is an offer to build an email campaign on kickstarter for $20. I don't think this is reportable but it is absolutely appalling, so I suggest blocking this person and passing the word if you see them commenting on a fundraising post. I'm hoping this is not a new trend but given the last spam trend on Tumblr was people sending asks about fake fundraisers, I can't be sure this isn't the next wave.
Ways to Give:
AnonĀ linked to a fundraiser for Jack "Rocky" Payne and his wife Cloie, who are trying to offset the cost of his care for ALS, including medical bills, equipment, and accessible renovations to their home. He is no longer able to work due to the disease, and she has had to take leave in order to care for him full-time, which has obviously left them struggling financially. You canĀ read more and give to the fundraiser here.
kitsumoĀ linked to a fundraiser for his family, a single autistic mother with five neurodivergent kids, which has recently become homeless in California and need funds for necessities like food, covering phone bills, and shelter. You canĀ read more and reblog hereĀ orĀ give directly here.
grindthebonesĀ linked to a fundraiser for Kelsey and her dog Annie; Kelsey is a young disabled woman who isn't on social security yet, and her family recently stopped paying her rent and will not allow her back in the home; they're trying to prevent homelessness while she finds housing and aid. You canĀ read more and support the fundraiser here.
gorkhandsmcschmuckĀ is raising funds to cover an overdraft; due to some banking nonsense around Memorial Day he ended up with a negative balance, and needs to raise $50 to cover it, hoping to raise $100 to help with food until the first paycheck comes in. You canĀ read more and reblog hereĀ orĀ give directly via paypal here.
wolfsbanesparksĀ linked to a fundraiser for friends who just lost their house in a flood, including almost all of their possessions; their insurance is balking at covering anything, so they're having to pay for repairs out of pocket. You canĀ read more and support the fundraiser here.
News To Know:
blackestglassĀ is running the fourth annual Chromatic Characters Podfic Anthology, which collects podfics of stories of less than 1500 words and center characters of color. This year's optional theme is "solidarity" and the due date for submissions is September 12th; this is a final call for volunteers of color who would like to lend their services as contextual content betas (formerly known as cultural sensitivity listeners) which is their biggest need at this point. You canĀ read more and comment hereĀ to volunteer or ask a question, DM the mods on twitter atĀ ccpamods, or email ccpamods at gmail.com.
Recurring Needs:
AnonĀ linked to a fundraiser forĀ dee-the-red-witch, a trans woman who needs to raise $10K to keep her home. You canĀ read more, reblog, and find giving information here, giveĀ via paypal here, orĀ purchase her leatherwork here.
frenchroasted's cousin, who has been fundraising for a used wheelchair-accessible van after herniating her back lifting her stepson's wheelchair and had to have surgery for it, has partnered with MyDMDHero which is now hosting their fundraiser on GiveButter so that their donations are tax-deductible. You canĀ read more and support the fundraiser, formerly at GoFundMe, here.Ā (Also to Frenchroasted -- got your request, can do.)
alirhiĀ linked to a fundraiser to get herself, her mother, and her sister stable housing; they are currently staying in their cars in a a dangerous parking lot. They have a friend who will let them park a camper in her yard, but the camper there currently is unlivable, and they haven't been able to find an affordable replacement. With two of the family on disability it is difficult for them to keep up with bills and also save for housing. You canĀ read more, reblog, and find giving information hereĀ including a few new ways to give.
And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can post items for my attention at theĀ Radio Free Monday submissions form. If you're new to fundraising, you may want to check outĀ my guide to fundraising here.

Using Data Analytics to Improve Customer Retention in D2C Ecommerce
Getting a customer to buy once is hard enough. Getting them to come back and buy again? That’s where real ecommerce success lies. In the Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) space, customer retention is more cost-effective and scalable than chasing constant new acquisitions and ecommerce data analytics is the key to making it work.
Gone are the days of guessing why a customer left or hoping they'll come back on their own. With the right data strategy in place, you can build a clear, actionable picture of buyer behavior, preferences, and friction points.
Let’s break down how data can help you keep your customers happy, engaged, and loyal.
Why Customer Retention Matters in D2C
It costs 5–7 times more to acquire a new customer than to retain an existing one. But that’s just the start.
Repeat customers:
Spend more over time
Are easier to upsell or cross-sell
Become brand advocates
Retention isn’t just a post-purchase phase, it's a growth engine. And for D2C ecommerce brands trying to build community and loyalty in a crowded marketplace, it’s everything.
What Ecommerce Data Can Tell You
The beauty of selling online is that every click, view, and scroll generates a data point. With smart analytics, you can use that data to answer critical questions like:
Which products drive the most repeat purchases?
What’s the average time between first and second orders?
Which marketing channels are producing high-LTV customers?
Where in the funnel are customers dropping off?
Ecommerce data analytics helps uncover patterns that can be used to build targeted retention campaigns.
Top Data-Driven Strategies to Boost Retention
1. Segment Your Customers by Behavior
Group users based on their browsing, purchase history, and engagement. Are they loyalists, one-timers, or window shoppers? Tailor your messaging to each group.
For example: Send loyalty rewards to high-value customers, win-back campaigns to inactive users, and upsell offers to recent buyers.
2. Predict Churn Before It Happens
With predictive modeling, you can identify when a customer is likely to stop engaging and intervene. Look for signs like reduced email opens, longer gaps between purchases, or cart abandonment.
Set up automated flows to re-engage these users before they disappear.
3. Personalize Communication
Use data to personalize everything from product recommendations to email subject lines. Tools like RFM (Recency, Frequency, Monetary) analysis can help tailor offers based on spending behavior.
The more relevant the message, the more likely the customer sticks around.
4. Optimize Post-Purchase Journeys
Retention starts right after the first order. Analyze your post-purchase data to understand what works: Should you follow up with a review request? A how-to guide? A reorder reminder?
A smooth, engaging post-purchase experience increases satisfaction and reduces return rates.
5. Measure What Matters
Track key retention metrics like:
Repeat purchase rate
Average order value (AOV)
Customer lifetime value (CLV)
Churn rate
Over time, these metrics show whether your retention strategies are paying off or need tweaking.
How We Help at Yashus
As a results-driven digital marketing agency, Yashus doesn’t just build campaigns, we build smart systems. We help D2C brands use data intelligently to increase not just traffic, but retention and LTV.
Our approach includes:

Segmenting customers by behavior and lifecycle stage
Automating personalized retention campaigns across email, SMS, and paid media
Retention isn’t luck. It's a strategy and we make sure yours is backed by data, not assumptions.
Final Thoughts
If you’re not using ecommerce data to understand and improve customer retention, you’re flying blind. Your competitors are already watching, measuring, and optimizing. It’s time to do the same.
With the right analytics in place, you’ll stop guessing and start growing.
Yashus is here to help you turn every transaction into a long-term relationship. Let’s turn your data into a retention powerhouse.

Why Most Salon Booking Startups Fail– And What We’re Doing Differently
Over the past few years, dozens of startups have tried to crack the salon booking space in India.
Some raised money. Some scaled to multiple cities. But most... quietly shut down. šŸ’”
This made us pause and ask: Why? What went wrong — and what can we learn from it?
At Nearz, we did a deep-dive analysis of 7+ past salon-tech startups to understand where they stumbled. Here’s what we found:
Common Failure Points:
1. No Real Onboarding or Support for Salons Many platforms assumed salons would figure it out themselves. But salons needed more than an app — they needed trust, training, and hands-on support.
2. Poor Fit for Real-World Salon Workflows Most apps were built for "ideal salons" — the ones with digital payments, full-time receptionists, and fancy UIs. But real salons operate with walk-ins, UPI + cash combos, stylist preferences, and staff turnover.
3. No Loyalty or Retention Tools They focused on customer acquisition, but didn't help salons retain those customers. No loyalty points. No smart re-engagement. No long-term growth engine.
4. Weak or Delayed Monetization Some stayed free for too long, others tried to monetize without showing real value. Result: burnout, bad unit economics, or investor fatigue.
5. Zero Salon Community or Feedback Loops Most didn’t build with salons — they built for them. And that created a gap. No feedback. No upgrades. No relationship.
What We’re Doing Differently at Nearz:
Dedicated onboarding & success team
Real salon workflows > hypothetical features
RFM-based customer loyalty & WhatsApp automation
Freemium model → paid plans with clear value
Relationship-first onboarding & growth support

Auddia Signs Purchase Agreement to Acquire Radio FM
Tumblr media
Auddia Inc., an AI platform for audio identification and classification, signs a definitive purchase agreement to acquire Radio FM (RFM), an AM/FM streaming app. Closing the acquisition remains subject to financing the acquisition cost. In early January, 2024, Google selected the Radio FM streaming app as an Editor's Choice app in the Play Store, making it only the third app in the Radio category to get an Editor's Choice badge alongside iHeart and Pandora. Auddia CEO Michael Lawless said, "We are seeing strong subscription conversion numbers off the faidr free tier which is solidifying our confidence that a large number of AM/FM streaming listeners are willing to pay a subscription to avoid commercials while listening to their favorite stations. The challenge now becomes how to grow the free tier user base in the most cost-efficient manner possible to increase our pool of potential subscribers." He added, "The Radio FM acquisition allows us to acquire 4.6 million retained users at a customer acquisition cost (CAC) that is approximately 70% lower than the cost to acquire a free tier user through our direct marketing methods. This is obviously a far more economical and faster way to build revenue, reduce burn, drive subscriptions, and achieve sustainability. We look forward to engaging with investors to secure the financing needed to close the transaction." The Radio FM asset consists of $2.3 million in 2023 revenue with $1.4 Read the full article
