Review Rating System
Hey everyone!
For any of my reviews, I will be using a 5 star rating system based on how much I would recommend the resource. Here is my breakdown what each star represents:
★ = I really did not like it / Would not recommend
★★ = I did not like it / I probably would not recommend
★★★ = It was okay / My feeling is neutral
★★★★ = I liked it / Would recommend
★★★★★ = I really liked it / Would highly recommend
Personally, I tend to like a lot of the books I read and I often find it hard to give 1 star reviews. There is always someone who might be interested and think what I deem 1 star to be a 5 star book. All reviews are based off of my own ideas of what good writing, interesting storyline and if it is genre appropriate.
I hope you all enjoy my reviews as much as I enjoy reading the books to review!

the rating system explained
Dear traveler, come closer!
I am going to tell you a little secret - I am not only going to talk about the books here in the Refugium... I am also going to rate them, so that you know what to expect when picking up these stories yourself.
But take everything I say with a grain of salt, friend, because the rating only conveys my opinion about a book. You will find I am not a strict critic - I read mainly for my enjoyment.
Alas, let me walk you through the rating system that I use.
There are five categories that are most important to me: worldbuilding, plot, characters, writing style and overall vibes. Each of these - except overall vibes - can score a minimum of one and a maximum of five stars. After giving points for each category, I add all the points and divide them by 4. That is going to be the average rating of a book.
Overall vibes is a special category that can give up either 0, 0.5 or 1 bonus point depending on how much I enjoyed reading the book.
What it takes for one, two or five stars, you ask? There should be at least some mysterious powers at work, friend (aka I do not want to bore you with a very subjective and very boring matrix).

President Marcos Jr. Pushes for Digital Transformation in the Country!

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. fully supports the Paleng-QR Ph Plus Initiative and wants government agencies to educate Filipinos on the use of e-wallet and other digital payment apps. He feels this will prop-up economic activities, particularly with the inclusion of micro, small and medium enterprises. The President expressed his view on Thursday during a meeting in Malacañang with the Private Sector Advisory Council Digital Infrastructure Cluster discussing recommendations to further improve the country’s digital infrastructure. Private Sector Advisory Council Member Ernest Cu, President and CEO of Globe Telecom, who met the President described the use of quick response (QR) codes and other digital payment apps as something like a “home run” for the government, saying that they are excited to start serving the public markets using QR codes. Private Sector Advisory Council Convenor Sabin Aboitiz, President of the Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc., was also present during the meeting along with Union Digital President Henry Rhoel Aguda, Bank of the Philippines Islands COO Ramon Jocson, and PLDT Inc. President Alfredo Panlilio. The e-commerce platforms including the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas have teams going around the country conducting information and education campaigns on Paleng-QR Ph Plus, which was launched in 2022, in different cities and local government units. Ernest Cu, President and CEO of Globe Telecom said: “We have to do it. It’s a grassroots level approach. There are also videos on YouTube and we also have Tiktok to get people to educate themselves. And if you use the app regularly, you will see it being offered to you on the app,” The adoption of QR codes and use of digital payment apps will make savings and loan applications in banks a lot easier for the public, especially the farmers, fisherfolks and small businesses, according to PSAC members. At the same time, the government could eliminate the 5-6 lending and similar money lending businesses thus making the cost of running MSMEs, which are the main drivers of the economy, go down. BSP Governor Felipe Medalla expressed support to the project saying, “Mr. President, this one has a big impact on financial inclusion because the problem is there’s no way for banks to assess their credit scores, but if we have a digital database with their payment habits, that will be a substitute and a good proxy for credit scoring. This actually helps in the financial inclusion advocacy of the BSP and the government.” Aside from rallying support for Paleng-QR Ph Plus Initiative, PSAC made new recommendations for the President’s approval. Among the new recommendations are the adoption of the National Cybersecurity Plan 2023-2028 and the Connectivity Index Rating System. Sources: THX News & PCO. Read the full article

My Rating System
Hello!
As I said in my intro post, I plan on having a rating system ranging from 1 to 10 with a complete description of what details making up a game/product with that rating.
Here it is!
How Ratings Work:
1: A game/product that is either completely unplayable/unusable or otherwise so vile that it isn’t worth the materials or time that went into it. In terms of a game, it has to be absolutely unplayable, or unstable to an extreme degree. Gameplay needs to be barren of all effort or absent, and all other aspects of the game would have to be equally as pointless or misguided to a detrimental level. Products would need to be a scam or outright horrible in physical quality or customer service and advertising to fall into this category. Essentially, this category exists solely to mark a game/product that doesn’t deserve to exist.
2: A game or product that is inherently flawed in several ways, making it nearly useless. Unless specific situations require this product, it has no reason to exist in your collection. Any game with this rating has minimal reason to purchase or play for any reason, and may be broken to a serious fault. While a single aspect of this product or game may be interesting or well-executed, its other faults completely overshadow and devalue this detail.
3: A game or product with some interesting function, reasonable quality, or comparable longevity that is unfortunately plagued with problems from end to end. Typically, one of the listed details above holds greater weight than the others, and while it stands out from the issues that persist with the game or product, it can’t completely justify the purchase of the game/product. At this point, a game will most likely fall into interest with a niche group of people, and as long as that interest is persistent, it could be worth the an investment at a personal level.
4: A game or product that is either interesting to some extent (although plagued with issues to a rather minor extent) or is playable and well-functioning (but lacking interest or depth). Generally speaking, this is a game/product that is flat out below average for whatever reason, and while it may still be well worth investing in on a personal level, I would have to push away from such an action.
5: A completely average game, exactly what you’d expect from its marketing, name, publisher, or subject matter OR an unremarkable product that may function, but be less than useful or simply nothing outstanding.
6: A game or product that pushes its boundaries ever so slightly. Its adventurous nature and delivery of more than what was promised brings out a new level of enjoyment, though a small one. Most of the problems it may have, or that the user will experience, are negligible. Generally speaking, worth an investment for a one-time use/play, and recommendable to a minor degree.
7: A game or product that successfully impresses through great quality and the level of enjoyment it brings to the user. For games, the details that make up the production, like story and graphics, create intrigue and pull you in. As with products, quality and function are greater than expected. The game or product is enjoyable from a genuine perspective, and may be worth multiple plays/repeated use. Something you could recommend to anyone with interest in that genre of game/product. It may not be perfect, but what it gives you is more than enough to keep you invested for a while.
8: A game or product that is truly incredible. For games, something that is expertly crafted, regardless of the few flaws that will persist, and keeps you playing for extended periods of time. A product with this rating will keep you using it and may become a small part of your regular life. Games will be full of life and expansive, or complex and carry significant weight. Products will be of great quality and be capable of withstanding a beating, big or small.
9: A nearly perfect product or game. A game with this rating will pull you in and keep you spinning around in the world it places you in, with a well-written story, complex and varying gameplay, and impressive visuals that immerse you. Products will be something you can use nearly every day, and never feel tired of experiencing.
10: A perfect product or game. Issues, should any exist with the item in question, must be nit-picked or remarkably specific on a personal level to warrant any second guessing. Much like the “1″ rating, this level is practically unachievable. No game or item is perfect, and this level exists, for the most part, to remind us that we cannot be complicit with the products and games we buy everyday and to always expect better throughout the years. I may break the rules a bit and give this rating to a game that is an absolute “must play” or a product that is absolutely necessary to enhance the experiences you have, as opposed to it being an actually perfect production.
So there you have it! A complete list of how the things I review will be rated. Sorry that it’s so long, I just wanted to ensure absolute clarity with how I plan to operate.
With this in place, let the reviews begin!
Be on the lookout for the first review: Resident Evil 2: Demo.
Have a great day/night/existence!

Viewer Discretion Is Advised Buyer warnings have been around for a long time. The Latin phrase “caveat emptor” (“let the buyer beware”) dates back to the 1520s. (Thank you, Online Etymology Dictionary.) The movie industry’s rating system (G, R, etc.) began in 1968. And the phrase “Viewer Discretion Is Advised” came along in the 1990s. Generally, such warnings point to sex and violence and—according to some critics—are a form of self-censorship. But in this frame from “Words,” the caution relates to the video’s kaleidoscopic effect, which theoretically could lead to seizures. We take it as evidence of caring for viewers’ well-being. “Words”—directed by Vasiliy Zhitlov—is the current Mobile Movie of the Week. You can see this highly original dance video at MobileMovieMaking (link in profile). #mobilemoviemaking #ratingsystem #photosensitive-epilepsy #viewerdiscretion #dancevideo https://www.instagram.com/p/CcTOTT9vynS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

You Don't Read the Comment Section #goodreads #authors #readers #ratingsystem
Let’s play a game. Imagine you’re an author. (some of us this isn’t a huge stretch but work with me) It doesn’t have to be Kindle/ self/ publishing house published, let’s say you post your story on Wattpad (because there are some original stories there and I know of more than one story that has been scrubbed and published as an original story). Wattpad has a commenting section, which means…

For cars there are seatbelts, for movies there are ratingsystems, and for websites there are warning about the minimum age requiered to visit.
If you choose to ignore any of those things, you are putting yourself and others at risk. Likewise if a responsible adult fails to warn you about those risks or fails to take action when you cross lines, they are being neglectfull.
