Sitting on the dock.

Originally completed on 24th December 2022.

My interpretation: This piece is loosely inspired by the song sitting on the dock of the bay by Ottis Redding and the book voices by Ursula K LeGuin.

A young man sits on the end of a dock and catches fish for his breakfast while the village across the water starts to prepare for the day of work ahead of it. A fishing boat picks up sail and heads out of the shallow swamps to more open waters where the fishing is better.

The windswept Keep.

Originally completed on 6th September 2024.

My interpretation: A tall castle stands as a lonely sentinel and beacon of an important shipping channel. This remote location is important militarily as it leads directly to the distant imperial capital. The Keep must defend against invasion and prevent trade ships from hitting the rocks. It sits alone surrounded by a vast region of near complete wilderness, but the sun is bright, and the weather is clear even if the north wind blows through its echoing halls.
