A Corgi for Scale I borrowed a picture of my brothers sweet dog looking into a fish pond for the corgi reference because I wanted to exemplify how small everything in the scene was. I promise he did not look so sad in the reference. When I showed my brother, he asked me if this was a play on the corgi 'lore' The lore based on a 1940's poem describing how fairies ride corgis as steeds and I was floored by the coincidence. Its the cutest thing I've ever heard I swear.

They are uneasy with their lot in life and feel as though a peice of themselves is missing. When they're alone they have trouble keeping silent, they murmur to inanimate objects filling the empty air that often comes with loneliness. They like to collect things, tales, secrets, forgotten objects. Sometimes they relinquish them back into the world. Someone so small can only hold so much and someone so old only has so much space in their mind. The world is full of infinite tales and their own, they often wish they could forget. Lately they have been restless, seeking some measure of influence over the world but they're also dreadfully frightened of what new opportunities might bring with them. OH OH and the millipede is Visk Aurel's familiar/occasional mount ​!

I mayyyyy have gotten sort of addicted to puppet making this week, have a finished version of my lizard snoof puppet Carry Bag and also a mini, very heavily inspired by the little mini snoofs ragmop and goose make bc they're iconic

They're plastic grocery bags stuffed with more plastic trash, tied with twine (for the indents), & covered in paper maché, before painting.

We don't have ren faires here, so I must thank you deeply for posting this glorious ensemble. This is the exact kind of ren faire content I live for.

yaaAAAALLL ok so it's ren faire season in my house. Last year I spent all my effort making gowns for my kids, so this year I decided to make a little upgrade to my own outfit. So I got a purse from the thrift store

And I turned it into a BELT

I'm soooo pleased with how it came out. It's so insufferably unhistoric. I even made a lil pouch with the scraps! I'm going to upgrade the laces and add a few more trinkets to make it truly ridiculous , but I couldn't wait to show you.

So now my fit consists of a dress I made from a bedsheet, a lace petticoat my mom made from a tablecloth, and a belt made from a purse.

The 7 R’s of Sustainability:

Did you know that ‘recycling’ is step 6 of the 7 Rs of sustainability? The other R’s are just as important even if they are often forgotten.

Rethink- Do I really need to buy this? The point of this step is to stop and think.

Refuse- Does this product damage the environment? If so, refuse to spend your money on it. i.e. single use plastics, harsh chemicals

Reduce- How much of this do I really need? Buy less! Buy in bulk when you can as it often equals less packaging to throw out.

Reuse- Can I use this product again? Can I fix what I have so that I don’t need to buy something new? Reuse that plastic water bottle a few times. And instead of buying new, try thrift shopping, flea markets, yard sales etc.

Repurpose- Unlimited creativity! Does this item have another use? i.e. old torn clothes can be rags or plastic cups can be planters.

Recycle- Can I recycle this? Not everything can be. There are also some important steps to making sure your recycling is done properly. If unsure, look up local recycling regulations.

Rot- Can I compost this? Food waste, yard clippings, newspapers and many other items can be composted instead of being tossed in the trash. Composting is surprisingly simple and helps reduce harmful greenhouse gasses from entering the atmosphere.

What is the point of the R’s? The number one benefit of the 7 R’s are the reduction of the amount of waste sent to incinerators and landfills. The EPA website provides a lot of useful information. Other benefits that we can reap from implementing these concepts in our life are (as listed on the EPA website): • Prevents pollution caused by reducing the need to harvest new raw materials • Saves energy from not making a new product • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change • Helps sustain the environment and natural resources for future generations • Saves money from processing our waste • Increases economic security by tapping a domestic source of materials • Helps create jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries in the United States

Community Trash #7

2024-2025

Empty paint tubes and acrylic paint on plywood

For my 'Community Trash' series, I collect discarded or unwanted materials from friends, family, and community members: too-small offcuts and scraps, dried-out or contaminated paint, canvases lumpy with failed attempts, boxes laden with the dust and guilt of abandoned hobbies. Repurposing this creative trash reduces both my effect on the climate and the clutter in my friends' homes.

For Community Trash #7, I collected empty and dried-out paint tubes -- my own, my friends', and strangers' -- over about a one-year period.

real talk. I love when 811 or my art inspires people to make traditional stuff. as an environmentalist.... i think it promotes a fun way to RECYCLE! and use the damn art supplies u might have in a closet or shit. Like if you wanna do something small and fun to help our planet, see if you can recycle plastic into art or use that untouched watercolor set. see if you can paint or draw a damn stick figure. And then tomorrow try something else and explore around. Eventually you might get to the point where you enjoy fixing an old pair of jeans instead of buying a new pair.

Also a great way to battle negative feelings about A///I and art.

Drawing can be mindless fun with crayons too. You can make collages out of old magazines or newspapers. At the end of the day, if all my stickers and drawings will end up in trash, at the least I’m proud to have repurposed a plastic’s life outside of once use and treasured it on my walls when I was alive.

So You Want to be Solarpunk?

If your neighborhood has a vacant lot, get some neighbors together and turn it into a community garden.

Organize a block party.

Create a maker space enabling folks to repair, repurpose, and swap their old stuff.

Organize a bunch of plant-savvy neighbors to help folks convert their yards from resource hungry yuppie lawns into something sustainable that fits the local biome.

Get a few friends together and clean up the trash on the streets. Make sure to recycle.

Set up Little Free Libraries and Little Free Pantries.

Get tool-savvy neighbors together to help folks with needed household repairs and upgrades.

The punk in solarpunk is about resistance to the alienation and consumer culture that makes our communities unsustainable and our environments toxic.
