Coincidentally another “tape drive” this one for the sleeper hit of the Far Cry franchise, Far Cry Blood Dragon. A pitch perfect satire of over the top 80s sci-fi action movies, it’s the kind of game Ubisoft should be making more of.
This 4GB drive comes with a cassette case that, since the drive comes with the game soundtrack, really sells the throwback illusion. This is a very nice piece from Limited Run who show they care able the details even beyond the game itself.

Remember the days when we all thought Far Cry Blood Dragon's premise was an April Fools joke and that it was gonna be a DLC expansion about Jason fighting the triads on Rook Island?

Pulp Crossover Fodder: Sujan
Source: The Adventures of Rex and Rinty (1935)
Sujan is a large island in the Indian Ocean where the Seychelles would be on our Earth. Its climate is tropical, and the culture blends Arabic and South Indian influences. While it has been a colony of various European countries, the strong local religion means that Christianity and Islam have made few inroads.
That religion is the worship of the Horse God (whose name is not spoken aloud.) All horses (the ones on Sujan are primarily of the Arabian strain) are venerated and protected, but only one at a time is worshipped as the current incarnation of the Horse God, the God-Horse.
In 1935, the high priest of the Horse God and effective ruler of the island was Tanaga, and the God-Horse was a black stallion that became known to Americans as "Rex." The evil polo player Crawford came to Sujan to buy some of their fine horses, but of course the locals would not sell their sacred beasts for mere money. Taken with the beauty and power of the God-Horse, Crawford contrived to steal it and take it to America.
Once in California, Rex contrived to escape, and befriended a highly intelligent German Shepherd named Rinty. As Crawford repeatedly attempted to recapture the God-Horse, the two animals were assisted by the good polo player Frank Bradley and his friends. Tanaga also sent a junior priest named Pasha to America to rescue the God-Horse.
After many perils and adventures, Rex was returned to Sujan, accompanied by Rinty and Frank Bradley. But Crawford had one last card up his sleeve. He convinced an ambitious underling to make it appear that Rex had died, and that a new God-Horse had been chosen, overthrowing Tanaga and making himself high priest. (It should be noted that this underling had been denied promotion in the cult because he was not a true believer but only desired the wealth and power membership in the priesthood conferred.)
Naturally, Rex and Rinty foiled this last plot with some help from Frank. In gratitude for their actions, Tanaga granted Frank a colt that the God-Horse had sired.
Rex appeared to be merely a very fine specimen of Arabian breed horseflesh, with a high intelligence for a horse. His speed and jumping height were very good, but within champion horse limits. On the other hand, he was apparently able to communicate in some way with Rinty on a nonverbal level. It was stated repeatedly that the absence of the God-Horse was injurious to Sujan, but no specifics were shown.
The priestly caste of Sujan are all highly trained in horse riding and handling, and proper care of horses. True believers are able to calm horses with simple words and gestures, and make requests of horses which the horse will comply with within their physical and mental limitations. The priests of Sujan are pledged never to harm horses, and will not abuse their charges. They also speak fluent English in addition to their native Sujanese.
Pasha was able to communicate telepathically with Tanaga halfway across the globe for short periods. It's not clear if this was Pasha's power, Tanaga's, or something all true believer priests of the Horse God are able to do. He otherwise did not show any special powers and was very much not bulletproof.
Sujan as a location would be a good place to visit for other animal-themed franchises such as The Black Stallion or Lassie, or for adventurers who otherwise hang out in the Indian Ocean.
Thoughts, comments, story ideas?

It’s really funny how like every single important character in Captain Laserhawk is either from a another Ubisoft title or based on something from another Ubisoft title except for Laserhawk
Laserhawk’s boyfriend Alex Taylor? Literally the main character from The Crew which out of all of them is the weirdest because they’re nothing alike (except Laserhawk does go on a mission of vengeance like Alex does in the game but Alex ends up not killing the person he wanted to kill)
Jade and her uncle? Main characters from Beyond, Good & Evil and the entire concept of Hybrids comes from that too
Just straight up WWE wrestlers but they aren’t Ubisoft so they don’t really count
Sarah and Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell
The entire DedSec crew from Watch_Dogs 2 although only 2 are name dropped other than Marcus
You already know about Rayman
The Rabbids are giant alien monsters
The Ninji 6 are Rainbow Six
Pagan Min the literal main villain of Far Cry 4
A fucking frog apart of the Assassins Brotherhood from Assassin’s Creed and Eden being the fucking Templar Order
They don’t even use actual characters from Blood Dragon like Rex Power Colt or his daughters not even Omega Force like I don’t even think the guns from the Blood Dragon game are in the show
It’s pretty much the UbiVerse crossover I’ve always wanted but wrapped in a goofy ass capitalist hellscape world

I have a crack/serious theory that dolph is the son of Rex "Power" Colt and Elizabeth Veronica Darling from Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
Both characters are similar to the people who are 'supposedly' dolph's real biological parents in the first episode, see the similarities?

And in the episode where dolph is fighting a fucking army his eyes glow a pinkish purple color in both his robot and human eyes? In the lore blood dragons are the titular hostile creatures in far cry 3: blood dragon, existing only on the nameless island on which the game takes place, blood dragons are believed to be "Living fossils from the early cretaceous period", according to Dr. Elizabeth darling.
The blood of the dragons also possess radiologically-enhancing properties. Colonel Ike sloan's cybernetics were supercharged by drinking their blood. However, pure dragon blood is unpredictable and can have adverse effects, such as those suffered by Dr. Carlyle, who gained increased mental capacity to "hyper-genius levels," but later experienced rapid muscle deterioration and worse, his genitals dropped off his body.
At the end of the game, elizabeth veronica is seen hugging rex, but she opens her eyes, revealing them to be the same color as the dragon's blood.
In trials of the blood dragon it is revealed that she is a blood dragon herself, but in human form. This explains why she hates sloan (the previous villain of the game) for using the blood dragons for harvesting their blood, as well as her glowing purple eyes seen at the end of the game. She reveals to her husband and children that she had left them in order to help her race. However, when she learned of Rex's "death", she took the guise of General Ryback, and secretly manipulated her children into helping her free her species (blood dragons, or dragornians), destroy the CIA, and lay the groundwork for a full-scale blood dragon invasion of the world under the pretense that they are saving the world. She confesses her love for her husband and children, but then gives them an ultimatum: join her cause or die.
In the secret ending rex refuses to help his wife allow her and the blood dragons to take over the world, and defiantly pulls a gun on her, proclaiming his allegiance to his country. Likewise, Dr. Darling pulls out a gun on her husband, but so do their children, with both Roxanne and Slayter each pointing a gun at their parents. Both parents then pull out a second gun on their children while still pointing their first guns at each other, leading to a mexican standoff in the family.
Both roxanne and slayter are confirmed to be half dragornians and have strong and powerful abilities, maybe dolph, the third child is a half dragornian himself?

Hell maybe the woman in dolph's flashbacks could be rex's younger sister or rex's cousin and she never told dolph about the truth.

Wow this is a really well thought out and put together theory
The only issue is that the manga shows Dolph's mother as an Indian woman, basically confirming the propaganda documentary Eden made to be lies and I honestly doubt that Adi is gonna make a plot twist out of her , especially with the likelihood that season two will be as short as the first season and everything else that's been set up
As much as I would like more kick ass women in this series, revealing Dolph's mother to be a completely different character than what we're told (twice even) would make the spin off manga pointless and even more conflicting with the timeline
Saying that though, we don't yet know who Dolph's father is
And in both show and manga , it's not that subtle that Eden is doing some Eugenics in their system, with Dolph being a prime example of that. The art book even mentions that "Dolph was marked "genetically fit for augmentation"-", meaning that Eden is looking through it's citizens very DNA for it's super soldiers
And someone with dragon blood in them would be valuable, yeah?
Also worth pointing out that in some concept designs, they considered giving Dolph white hair, something that Roxanne and Slayter both have
If season two did explore Dolph's family tree , I think it'd be more likely the show would focus on Dolph's father with his mother being (unfortunately common for her archetype) a foot note. Going with what you brought up ,Dolph's father could be Rex but I'm gonna lean towards Slayter for the fact Slayter actually has dragon blood in him, Rex could still be involved as a a grandfather though
I'm also gonna bet if Rex is related to Dolph (as either father or grandfather) or at least plays a role in season two, he probably knew Sam Fisher. Idk why I just think it'd be fitting and an organic lead way to Dolph talking about and/or meeting his father('s side of the family) with how the last episode ended
#ask me#asks#captain laserhawk#dolph laserhawk#Not gonna lie I really like this theory#If nothing else you should write a fanfic based on this

Character Details
Name: Daemon Phyonix
Age: 17
Fighting Style: BlackDawn, Dark Arts
Powers/Elements: God of Knowledge, Primordial Flame and Frost, Lightning, and Darkness
Origin: BlackDawn City
Titles:
God-Slayer / Apprentice of The Blackened One / Phoenix / Leader of The New Foundation Syndicate / The Last Assassin / Defier of Death / A Legend of BlackDawn / Little-Hawk
Sagas:
The Legends of Blackdawn / The Revolution / New Hell / The Old God / The Dead Roses / The Ripper
Backstory:
Once a boy with loving parents, Daemon would've lived a life any average boy would. But hunted down like animals, his parents were butchered in front of his once innocent eyes by an infamous group. After surviving that event, he was raised by Rex Exaris, The Blackened One.
After wasting his childhood life on training to become a blood-thirsty warrior, he joined Rex Exaris in the revolution war of BlackDawn. He gathered allies and aided factions in the city's underworld. And then he finally hunted down the infamous group but went out of hand in the process- he almost summoned his demon side-
(In BlackDawn, think of it as a Primal Instinct that takes over when a battle-hardened warrior is pushed to a corner or over an edge. Their Demon Side gives them strength, speed, agility, and Demonic Instinct to rival against their powerful opponents.)
-After coming to and realizing what terrible feats he's done, he disappeared. Then began 'the Old God' saga, when a new ally joined the rebels to find Daemon and bring him back. He and this new ally, Valdor Colt, had to join forces as new adversaries have shown themselves- and one of them is none other than Daemon himself. He learns that he was chosen as the host of the god of Knowledge, and his mind has two personalities fighting one another to take control- One is himself, and the other is the god.
After Conquering his inner war and annihilating the new enemy forces, he returned to Rex Exaris, who welcomed him with open arms.
Then came the saga called the New Foundation Syndicate. This was when the revolution was finally over, Chaos-Walker was finally beaten, and the Corrupted scattered across the city with no backing from their once glorious empire, and when the legends of BlackDawn disappeared without a trace- Even Rex Exaris himself. The young Daemon Phyonix decided to bring together a syndicate that would establish a new foundation for the city and rebuild it.
There's more to this than What I wrote here, so stay tuned.

While this is technically possible, I believe the maybe Deep Lore must be shared. Under the read more because Rob Liefeld's art is a content warning. (Also with the caveat the below is just me rambling about stuff I've seen wandering the Internet, wiser comics folks likely know this stuff far better than I)
(Also the further caveat, Kun seemingly has him with chest hair in the comic, at least judging by the cover art)
This is a page from "Youngblood #1" (April 1992) (Image Comics)
Creator, Plot, Pencils & Inks – Rob Liefeld Dialogue – Hank Kanalz Color Design – Brian Murray Color Separations – Digital Chameleon Editor-in-Chief – Chris Ulm
This is Chapel and an apparently unnamed woman.
I have no idea if this is the exact panel being referenced (particularly given I have avoided Liefeld's art in the wild wherever possible, even though that's admittedly somewhat difficult given how much he's drawn over the years). I only know about this page because of The 40 Worst Rob Liefeld Drawings. (The link not the comic is recommended read, it's very funny, as is the sequel). Notably, Dolph and Alex's pose is nearly identical to that first panel, and Chapel is also apparently hairless.
Captain Laserhawk: Blood Dragon Remix is based on the Far Cry 3 DLC, Blood Dragon, which is an homage to 1980s action films, cartoons, and video games. The protagonist's (Dolph Laserhawk) design is very clearly heavily reliant on the design for the DLC's protagonist, Sergeant Rex "Power" Colt. Rex looks a lot like a cross between Marvel's Winter Soldier (2005) and Cable, another Marvel Comics character who first appeared as a baby in 1986 (Chris Claremont (writer) and Rick Leonardi (pencils)) but later appeared for the first time in his more well-known adult appearance under Louise Simonson (writer) and Rob Liefeld (art) in 1990.
(Though Cable does... seem to have hair on his body, so... RIP Alex I guess).
Alex Taylor also looks a bit like a cross between Sabretooth (another Marvel character) and Shatterstar, a character created by Fabian Nicieza (writer) and Rob Liefeld (art) in 1991.
(This is mostly how Liefeld used to draw him. He looks a lot better under the hand of other artists these days, even just artists drawing for the same issues).
I don't think all roads lead to Liefeld. The guy mimicked a lot of stuff that was popular back then as far as I can tell. But even Kun's cover reminds me of a lot of covers Liefeld would draw (but actually good, because Kun's a good artist, and Liefeld is not).
Hallmarks of Liefeld's covers: lots of weapons everywhere, particularly guns, lots of buff dudes standing close together, giant crotches, and some wild hairstyles. (I like to think a theory for the Laserhawk animated series is "what if the homo-eroticism of all this wasn't subtext").
Statistically speaking, it's probable that first screencap references a lot of things, likely the same stuff Liefeld was inspired by, and maybe only unintentionally appears to look like that panel. But that terrible panel of Chapel was one of the first things in my mind when I saw it, because of how clearly this series is heavily referencing art from that era.
Okay... you got me. They're cute.
(Screencaps from the trailer for Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, featuring the apparent protagonist and his canonical boyfriend whom Ubisoft describes as "the love of his life").
Also Tokyopop is doing the comic adaptation and the cover art by Bayou Kun <.< for the "boys love manga adaptation" - iOS
#I think the hairlessness makes it extra funny as a reference#like if this series is half a fuck you to Liefeld I wouldn't be upset#his art is so bad and he's everywhere#apparently he walked back his views on Shatterstar#which is good#his art's still bad though and it's always neat to see good artists draw the stuff he couldn't#like I can't say I love all the designs but I can appreciate nostalgic art in the hands of folks who can draw#also Dolph and Alex are just adorable so idc#laserhawk

Given the post credit and timeframe of Captain Laserhawk, I would so love it if Rex Power Colt appeared in season 2 as a teenager or a kid that Laserhawk raises and train.
It would be so heartwarming and somewhat bittersweet to see Dolph be a dad.

Hot New Accessory For Me
youtube
Sooooo this happened. I remember seeing a video of someone talking about their rushed arm they made for a con back when MGSV came out and it really inspired me...now years later and as we brace for the release of Cyberpunk 2077, I wanted to be prepared.
This video is documentation of my haphazard workflow and process as I built this thing. I learned a lot and can’t wait to see what else I build...oh! and I talk briefly about some of my favorite cyborg arm clad heroes from video games.
