so i watched episodes 1-4 of Murderbot yesterday and I'm enjoying it so far. It's taking a minute to get used to how murderbot sounds bc I listened to the audiobooks and keep expecting to hear Kevin R Free instead of Skarsgard 😂 also Gurathin is very different from how I pictured him but I am enjoying this interpretation so far

I did have to pull up my copy of all systems red while watching the 1st ep bc I was like wait a minute Arada & Pin-Lee are together since when??? Looks like they merged Pin-Lee and Overse (and no Volescu) which is interesting. I understand wanting to condense the main cast down (and Volescu is only in the first book anyways) but it'll be interesting to see if that will really impact any future seasons bc Overse has a bigger role in later books that's different from Pin-Lee (who appears to have retained book personality & job just seems to have taken Overse's wife lmao)

An RS is a unique type of scruffy found in the underbelly Off Market of Azil, specially geared to locate, return or “recycle” rogue robots. Most operate in certain regions alongside the laws in place regarding Awakened Rights but scruffy varieties are more “freelance” in their endeavors.

He doesn’t think too hard about the marks he’s paid to “reacquire”, as each collection is a step toward his own freedom.

RS’s do not have Guild affiliation and are considered the “acceptable” alternative to Retrieval-class military units.

Guys I really just wanna drive around a big robot or fly an airplane, and I think another core component of the desire is just expanded senses, like, a HUD would be sick, give me a sensor readout with a laser rangefinder, distance / time estimates and an onboard GPS, let me analyze rocks and metal alloys and plants and look at cars drive by and get all their make and model information with a few thoughts, god what I wouldn't give
