"what kind of fandoms existed before Larry" fandom oldy here! Started consuming fandom when I was 13yo, am now 32 so ...

Larries fancy themselves big thinkers but they're nothing but a degeneration of bandom slash shipping (archaic terms I know lol). Back in the 2000s there was lot of shipping among pop punk band members (MCR, FOB, etc.) and actors too.

When Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movies came out, shipping RDJ e Jude Law was a whole thing. They milked it for promo, then it quietly died out after the second movie came out and no third one was in sight. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal were briefly shipped after Brokeback Mountain, but that was respectfully put to rest after Ledger's death. I'm sure there're weirdos everywhere, but not to the level I saw in larry. There was no mainstream desrespect or questioning the validity of their real life relationships (Susan Downey, Michelle Williams ...) nor horrid theories about like, Matilda Ledger not being Heath's daughter.

Shippers of Supernatural J2 were a lot more degenerate, but then again, shipping the actual characters (who were BROTHERS) in the show was huge. Then there were the deranged shippers of Cumberbatch and Freeman from BBC Sherlock, that was very insane and disrespectful from what I remember, but I was never part of the fandom. Nowadays you've got some huge idiots cospiracist in Kpop fandom, but never to the Larry levels.

I grew up on Tumblr, I'm very fond of this place, cos' fandom was a huge source of comforts for the questioning ace girl born in a conservative family I was - but the echo chamber structure of this site did a lot of damage to people's critical thinking. It was especially insane in the first half of the 2010s, before mainstream media and the pop culture industry started addressing fandom directly and milking it for money. Things went quieter after than, and my generation too, we've grown up, matured, things have just changed a lot in the way media is consumed.

Larry is nothing special, but I got to say, the levels of delusion ARE insane, considering it's been YEARS since 1D disbanded. All the communities I've talke about? You've got a handful of "believers" left, very isolated, most people just have fond memories of it all. All of them died out slowly after the corrisponded piece of media ended. The lenght of Larry is what makes it so insane to me.

But yeah, Larries are nothing new or special, they can seat their asses down. Down to the bones of it, it's nothing but another RL shipping category on fanficion sites.

Fantastic summary. I forgot about the Cumberbitches, and then there are the Robstens who to this day think that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are secretly married and have three children together.

Oh, you sweet innocent lamb. The sad answer is YES.

Every woman Sam has dated, including his longest girlfriends, Abbie Salt (1 year 2015) and Mackenzie Mauzy (2 years 2016-2018) have been mercilessly attacked and bullied by Extreme Shippers, who still think Sam and Cait should be, or are together. Extreme Shippers' modus operandi has always been the same when a new woman enters Sam's life: leave hate comments on her social media, create fake accounts attacking her on social media, contact her family, friends, employers, ex-boyfriends and harass them, make up lies, pretend to be someone from their past, and then say horrible things about them. It's LITERALLY the same thing every time. It's like they have a blueprint or something...or they share the same demented brain. Extreme Shippers will deny this, but it is well documented on my blog and other blogs, with CONCRETE PROOF, that identifiable Extreme Shippers have engaged in this terrible behavior. Not to mention, it is also illegal to engage in cyber bullying.

Soooo, given that past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior, I'd say it's 100 % guaranteed that if Sam gets into another serious relationship, they will both be harassed by Extreme Shippers. Luckily, Sam's SANE fans support him, and the women he dates. And we have no problem calling out the assholes in this fandom aka Extreme Shippers.

And I don't hold out hope this assholery will change even after Outlander is over. If you look at other fandoms that have shippers, for example the Fifty Shades of Grey and Twilight fandoms, they still have shippers pining over Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. And Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, when all four of them are in long term relationships not with their costars. And the Damie and Robsten shippers are STILL being jerks even years and years later.

At least the numbers will dwindle once Outlander is over because there won't be anymore Outlander related events to "swoon" over Sam and Cait being in the same room. But, the truly delusional will never give up. Never. Sad, but true.

Do you like how often Chris calls Sebastian 'Seb'? No one else really seems to, it's so sweet. It reminds me of how Chris will call everyone in the Marvel cast by their last names except for Sebastian, or Seb. And how both of them use each others names when asked about their characters. It really shows how close they are.

I do 🥺 I love it a lot. It really feels like Chris has a soft spot for Sebastian, and Sebastian has something that sets him apart from all of Chris's other co-stars 💓

They do both conflate themselves and their Marvel characters a lot, and yes, they also do it with each other! Case in point 👇🏼 I've always felt like Chris was talking about both Bucky and Seb here. So cute 🥰💕 (he does call Seb Sebastian here, but you're right in saying he very often uses 'Seb', and not many other people do!)

do you ever worry you're too old to be a fangirl? idk someone i know said i should outgrow my interest in twilight and it made me feel sad.

short answer? no. but i thought for a while what my long answer would be. here goes:

ever since 2009, i've always been the only person from my friend group who's ever felt so intensely about twilight. i've also been mocked about liking the series since i was 13. so why should i feel any different about my love for it at 27, when i'm still the biggest twihard in my social circle, and considering i keep it down to making text posts on tumblr or reddit and gushing in front of my closest friends?

also, back in the day when, let's say, i was at an acceptable age to be a fangirl, and when the movie hype was in full force (i.e. while i was on tumblr in 2010-2012), nobody in the twilight fandom seemed to care about twilight itself and it was all about the cast, and specifically - i get war flashbacks as i type this - robsten. oof.

additionally in 2013 i stepped away from the fandom and from twilight in general, and that lasted 7 years. but then the first lockdown happened, then youtube started recommending me synthetic rose's videos, then midnight sun was announced. and it was like a dam broke. it was a time of big changes in my personal life, and for the first time in 7 years i jumped into my old feels for twilight and found so much comfort. i went to reddit, i came back to tumblr, i was amazed by how many people are here to talk about twilight's characters again - and not the movie cast, but the characters and all their feral decision-making!

the fanbase had aged and matured, and was drawn back in by nostalgia just like i was. my own skills for articulating myself, analyzing and critiquing had improved so much since i was 15 and participating in online discussions was so much more fulfilling. so i found myself sticking around for 4 years now, and doing so makes me genuinely happy.

and lastly, we're in that good moment of pop culture where everyone has an "oh, twilight is cool again!" kinda tongue-in-cheek demeanor. so even if i slip up and get a little bit insane about twilight on main, oh i'm just going along with the trend. it's hoa hoa hoa szn.

and that's why i don't think that, being a grown woman with a fully developed brain, i should have any issues with being judged for my love for twilight. it's my little island of comfort and brings me too much joy to bother beating myself up over it.

I think it's very funny how how the nonstens and robstens are willing to ignore all the reasons they've called each other crazy for years, just so they can hate Suki together. Cause repeatedly using robsjaw or candykisses as some kind of insider sources when they're total whackjobs kind of shows how low some of you have sunk. Back in the day, you guys rightfully mocked those kinds of conspiracies when they were directed at RK. But now, you'll take the word of anyone who'll feed your delusions. Even the ones who think RK were never a real couple.

My Darriet Timeline Theory

Hello interwebs and welcome to my madness. Please only click this post to read if you ship Damian x Harriet in real life! If you don't please carry on and ignore this little delulu person!

I have effectively spent my entire weekend on Darriet and there are certain things that a madwoman cannot do on Instagram, like post multiple pictures and explain each one which is why I created this Tumblr woohoo!

My introduction to Darriet (not Bellfort) was when the internet went crazy over their boat pictures and they got featured on Deuxmoi.

LIKE HELLO after this picture you expect me to not ship them IRL? The way her hand is on his pecs, and she's almost in his lap, and they're like sunkissed and laughing and honestly they did not need to do this, but they just look so happy and in love. I remember seeing this and thinking OMG are they actually dating? That hand placement, the proximity of their heads, how they look so so utterly happy?

And then I saw she had these pictures of him:

If this is not the most girlfriend coded picture that there every existed on the internet? Like and that;s her leg underneath him and he is taking a picture of her, and there is so much skin and so much sun and so much smiling it still makes me giddy to this day because this was such a wholesome couple moment.

And then I find out, THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST PHOTOS ON A BOAT THAT THEY HAVE OF EACH OTHER? I find out that before Maxton Hall even aired there were already boat pics

AND I'M LIKE OMG THIS IS THEIR SUMMER THING, this is what they do in the summer.

But I tamped that excitement down and I told myself, no matter what, remember the great big Robsten heart break? DO NOT SHIP PEOPLE IRL, that is something on a crazy woman does.

So I try to keep my shipping professional (LOL), I only keep my eyes on Bellfort, and I'm like, I know Darriet is around, but I was trying to ignore it, until the moment I found the bloody LA pictures:

And also I am a sucker for the strong independent woman but she is so tiny and she does get cold a lot, so the big strapping man has to hug her to keep her warm sometimes, and it was something that made me fall in love with James and Ruby in Maxton Hall in the pool scene and it is definitely something that made me love Harriet and Damian because look how this is giving protective BF energy?

But what cemented my IRL shipping were these pictures that I found on their Instas:

AND THE FACT THAT DAMIAN APPARENTLY CAPTURED THIS PICTURE AS LIFE - as in Harriet is his LIFE I AM DEAD I WAS LIKE DEAD

So I started shipping them but I swore I would ship in the privacy of my own brain and keep my shipping to myself, but then HARRIET WENT TO GO POST THIS

Re your Louis expressing sexuality anon I was told by a veteran that management knew Louis was gay from audition and they were ok with it but didn’t count on Harry and their relationship so everything changed then. Do you believe that theory?

I think it makes sense. Louis was so camp from very early on, and he really “read” as gay. They wouldn’t have wasted time choosing him only to try and make him “less gay” a couple of years later. When Simon launched Union J the following year, Jaymi was out and he stayed out. But when they pushed George Shelley into the group, they closeted him. Harshly.

Having one gay member of a boyband isn’t a big deal like it used to be (Simon can say, “look how progressive we are! We love the gays!”). But, having two? No. Having two that are in love with each other? No way. Having one of those two be the charming golden goose who we can shape into a massive sex symbol all the girls will love? Absolutely No fucking Way.

If one of them had been a girl, we would have seen Robsten-level romance promo. But they’re queer. So it was never going to happen.

Day 84: Bazaar to Gerudo Town

At Kara Kara Bazaar, the oasis is low. Maika is worried about her little sister in Gerudo Town. Emri advises looking for the lighthouse if I get lost in the sand shroud - I hadn't noticed, but they've erected one atop the Bazaar. 

A Rito called Guy is here - I think he's been here for years. Seems like he doesn't have much on his plate. Must be nice. 

Two merchants, Robsten and Benja are waiting for their friend Ponthos to come back from the desert. I'm not optimistic for them, with those things out there. And apparently there's a sinkhole too - great. Though Robsten says there might be caves underneath them… Interesting. They say their friend went west, and was under instruction to find a tall building if he got lost. I can keep an eye out, but I shouldn't keep Riju waiting much longer. 

Chessica is here all the way from Lurelin Village, which is troubled by pirates. Maybe I should head there after I've helped Riju. 

There's a researcher here as well, Tauma. They're trapped by the sand shroud. Apparently there are interesting ruins near Digdogg Bridge. Noted.

I climb to the top of the Bazaar, where they've put the lighthouse. From here, I can see over the sand shroud to Gerudo Town - there's a shrine atop the Palace. I wonder how far I'll get if I glide… 

Only one way to find out. I jump. 

Hmm. Not fantastically far. I just about catch what must be the far side of a desert rift.

This definitely wasn't here before. There's a light faintly visible through the sand - I can't work out if it's the sun or a lighthouse on the town. It's the right direction for the town either way, so I follow it. 

I spot some ruins and climb them for another vantage point - I'm briefly above the sand shroud before I glide into it again. And then the walls of Gerudo Town coalesce out of the sand. I've made it, with only a brief glimpse of any creatures on the way. There are two gerudo guards at the gate - I don't have my woman's clothes… but Dorrah and Merina don't stop me as I walk in. Things must be really bad.

The town looks wrecked. Abandoned. There's sand everywhere. Shop fronts are either blocked up or buried. The beautifully mosaic water supply is dry. What's happened here? 

At the base of the Palace steps, there are torches, and a hole leads to a tunnel. But here I am stopped - Reeza will not allow a Voe into the shelter. A shelter at all is a good sign, though - it means survivors. And it turns out Riju has sent word ahead - I'm allowed to be here after all. 

I should check the Palace first though - it's likely Riju is there. 

A blood moon builds as I exit the tunnel. Gerudo Town is even more sinister with those wisps of gloom. 

Riju is at the top of the steps. She notes the three gibdo hives around the town, and believes it heralds a massive attack. I fear she's right. 

Golden light in the air, and a summons. I recognise the signs. Riju will be a Sage too. But where can the temple be?

One thing at a time. Buliara, Riju's personal guard, directs me to liaise with the soldiers to work out a plan and get supplies before the attack. She says fire, as well as lightning, will work against gibdos. 

We deploy troops at each of the gates, and barricade the east for good measure. I get kitted out in gerudo weaponry. It is a shame I don't have the matching armor - just the headband.

I do have one spike from Dinraal. Buliara said fire would work. I fuse it to the Gerudo scimitar. 

I think I'm as ready as I can be. As dawn approaches, we wait.
