"They're running towards the house on fire." -Rubin talking about all conversion students after Oct 7th.
A recent notion came to me about a month back. "I feel like a sleeper agent."
Something woke up my Jewish soul. It feels like it has always been there, waiting for me. Nothing has felt more like coming home than working on my conversion.
I've heard from a Rabbi in New York that Judaism's introduction courses have a seven month wait list and have doubled in size.
Hebrew classes have grown and the demand for them is growing still.
Hebrew reading comprehension courses are being introduced to learning apps that have long ignored Hebrew in the past. Prayer book study courses are increasing and attendance to the bigger services this year like Yom Kippur were quite massive compared to previous years.
Not only are we seeing more new faces in Synagogues of people looking to convert or who are curious, but OLD faces are starting to come back.
This past Friday the Rabbi stopped while looking out at the crowd and went, "I see some faces I have not seen in over ten years!!"
I spoke with a man that only appears at the holiday events and he admitted that it had been a while since he had done anything, but he was starting to hear a calling to come back.
Antisemitism is on the rise. Violence towards Israeli and Jews in the Diaspora is growing and there has been a lot of betrayal from former safe places and groups.
Yet there is a sold out Jewish Music concert happening downtown next week. Synagogue tours are still happening and Judaica decor is certainly on the rise. The Jewish Bakery near me today was having a special Hanukkah festival and the line was incredible.
The Jews are Tired. A saying that has been going around any time we read idiotic posts filled with Antisemitism. I think that table has turned. The Jews are Angry.
The Mountain is calling and it feels like so many more are coming home.
#jumblr#just jewish things#jewish conversion#A freaking idiot of a sleeper agent but here I am all the same#Anyone else noticing a rise in Jewish Pride#We will dance again

You mentioned a burakhovsky wedding⦠please share your thoughts on that. Like do they marry as old men or younger? Is it like a steppe wedding or more a symbolic commitment thing? Iām curious
Cracks KnucklesOkay so the deal is
they Would have liked to keep it low-key (especially dankovsky who's used to having to cover his ass all the damn time), maybe the two of them + 3 friends each (rubin lara & grief for burakh, peter andrey and the rotten corpse of farkhad they haul around as a ghost like a noxious cloud over their heads for dankovsky), but burakh Is A Menkhu. he is the spiritual leader of the Kin, he is a vital social, spiritual and medicinal person within his community, so his business is the community's business, and vice versa. a sense of Ritual is deeply important to the Kin (not just to them tbh) and if he and dankovsky are to be seen, in the eyes of burakh's communities (kin and town) as bound by dedicated, committed love, a ceremony gotta be done. he WILL be put into a ceremony. dankovsky comes around to a wedding from a sense of What Happen In The Town Stays In The Town so might as well and when he comes back to the Capital the people don't gotta know and also it would make his mom soooo happy she so would so happy for her son to have a weddig(sic) so he's like oh my god okay fine. he's never been a big #marriagehead in no small part because it is like The institution of heterosexuality (especially within christianity) but he comes to consider that the whole "bride being given from father [her previous "master"] to husband [her new one] to go from domestic servant to domestic and reproductive servant" well Does Not Apply here from the But We Are Both Boys Men.
as far as age goes: vitally important to me that yeva (mamakosvky) get to see it so i think they marry age like. mid to late thirties. she's old but she still attends.
it's a whole ordeal because a Warden officiates a Kin wedding, and in the instance that burakh, The Main Warden, is the one getting married, another Warden must officiate. in my mind it is Oyun [cf this thing he's the one hidden and going over the book (2021 art jumpscare)], who also is in charge of updating the rites for Two Men [cf below] and it's kinda awkward due to the Almost killing each other thing.
there is a lot of motherhood - birth - death symbols within the kin's mythology (cf. Boddho herself, The Mother, the birthing of herbs, the "<o> brand" sigil associated with birth, motherhood, cycle and death...) which to me are apparent within the wedding rituals (not just for the fictional[ized] Kin tbh this is a widespread thing irl too) and as such said rituals have to be adjusted for the Gay Thing. it is not that no Kin member has ever been gay or bi, or even that a menkhu has never been that (i know what isidor did to that old man), it's just that burakh junior is the first one for whom such a ceremony pops up. whole ordeal. oyun has to go over the rites with burakh and a bunch of herb brides about what needs to be changed, what can be left in but adjusted etc. "we should probably take this sigil out of the rite it's for a descendance--" "[herb bride speaking] actuallyā it's technically for sexual potency so it can stay" meanwhile burakh is head in hands begging for it to be over. one of the rites include the husband helping his new wife hop on a bull and then lead that bull to the threshold of their new shared house and dankovsky has to sit his dad down and go "okay so i will be on that bull but this is not because i'm "the woman" in the relationship. you must understand this. not "the woman" because there is no woman. we're doing it this way because it's better for the bull to carry lighter (me) and also because i don't know how to lead a bull but burakh does. you understand this".
yeva brings armenian brandy to the post-wedding feast. there is LOUD singing and dancing. honey cakes also (to bring together burakh's & dankovsky's respective backgrounds).
#[peterstakh blog addition] rubin is burakh's best man & peter is dankovsky's and it puts the thought in peter's head.#later on rubin is like ''look what you've done he wants us to get married now''#wedding....2!!!!!!!!!!!!#allƓ (answers)#anonymous#burakhovsky lore#burakhovsky wedding#burakhovsky wedding lore#<- need to redraw something for it............ pensive

people on that child support post are talking as if patho classic daniil is great with kids and it's pathologic 2 daniil that people are getting this negative idea of him from, which got me thinking...
daniil's main characterization of how he treats kids in patho 2 comes from artemy's POV of him, which is biased against daniil due to daniil making a really dickish first impression, and is also based off of unreliable narrator accounts:
first by some kids outside of rubin's house who lead artemy to believe that daniil refused to treat poisoned children when it was actually just dying dogs, which can be followed by artemy confronting daniil himself where he continues to misunderstand the situation and assumes daniil is calling children animals, until he finally visits the kids' warehouse and learns it was just the soul-and-a-halves' pets. which, obviously it would be a nice thing to save pets from dying, but he really ISN'T a veterinarian and there's a deadly plague starting. he's doing triage.
and then another early incident with the kid in the warehouse dying of sand pest, where notkin passes along a message telling artemy not to bother trying to save him that makes him sound very dismissive ("Don't waste your time on Patches, it's over for him"). reading between the lines though, it's pretty clear that he came to that conclusion not because he doesn't want to save people from the sand pest, but because this is a seemingly incurable disease with no medical cure, and at that point he probably hasn't had the chance to test the schmowders on himself so would have no reason to believe in their effectiveness, and assesses that loading patches up with drugs will just kill him. which, he's literally correct! whether you treat him with tinctures, pills, or a whole schmowder, patches dies that night. obviously trying to treat him or at least ease his suffering is a morally good dead, but you can also see the implied basis of daniil's actions, that every second is precious in the early stages of trying to prevent a widespread outbreak, so you shouldn't waste time on a patient who ultimately can't be saved. (which fits in really well not only with his arc in both games where he comes to the conclusion that the whole town is unsalvageable, but with the bigger emphasis on time management and manipulation that his remake has been described as having. hell, maybe from daniil's POV he knows for certain that patches will die due to whatever time manipulation that's going on with him, and that spending the time on that patient allows for a larger disaster to happen elsewhere). so, the situation is framed by notkin (understandably, because he's just a kid and that's his friend dying) and artemy (because he's honestly pretty petty about daniil) as just "the bachelor is an asshole and abandoned these kids" when it's more of a genuine ethical quandary.
he's also pretty rude and dismissive in how he talks about grace to artemy later on, but again, it's pretty clear that he's not just being a hater to a 15 year old for no reason, the point he's making is that she shouldn't be left in charge of a graveyard filled with potentially bio-hazardous corpses.
all that to say, the main canon info about how he treats children in patho 2 basically comes from the fact that a lot of kids end up disliking him, because he's extremely pragmatic to the point of being heartless, but still ultimately pretty understandable in what he's trying to do (stop a plague).
meanwhile when we do get to see his POV in the marble nest, i would say the way he treats children is pretty much consistent with how he talks to them in pathologic classic -- if anything, he's a bit nicer to them? he has some fed-up, yelling sort of dialogue options to the kids, but pretty much all of those are based on being upset that they're out breaking quarantine and putting themselves at risk of death. meanwhile other dialogue options make him come off very much willing to humor them and talk to them on their level. and when another adult is much harsher about the kids being irresponsible, he defends them, with no dialogue option to agree with corporal punishment:
meanwhile in pathologic classic, i do think that on the whole daniil is pretty nice to kids and willing to go out of his way to protect or help them (to the point of risking death, such as the late game sidequest where he can agree to go take on several soldiers to keep the father of two children from being wrongly executed). but he does also have some really unkind and spiteful dialogue options, like some of what he says to clara both in his own route and hers, and on the topic of corporal punishment...
#yes yes i know it's silly that this came out of a stupid poll about daniil dankovsky paying child support#i could talk about this game for hours unfortunately#also this isn't really a pathologic 2 daniil defender post or a daniil hater post#i actually just think that his attitude towards kids and the concept of childhood in general is pretty key to his arc as a whole#and a lot more complex than him just adopting stray urchins#sure i don't think you need to take every dialogue option as 'canon' seeing as some of them contradict each other? it's up to interpretatio#but those lines to notkin are interesting enough in the context of his background and everything else going on with his arc that like. yeah#patho meta#daniil#mine#pathologic

ZoÅka Dankovskaya information please? š¤²
Yay!! Youāve got it boss!!
Alright obviously gotta explain her connection to our beloved bachelor and thatās his little sister!! They are nine years apart in age!! Daniil has eldest daughter syndrome unfortunately which absolutely makes his issues with ocd revolving around control worse She has very little memory of their mother since she died when ZoÅka was rather young (hc she passed when Daniil was thirteen) but Daniil ended up taking care of her most of the time as their father was frequently out of the house.
Sheād mainly be a post canon character she goes to the town after her brothers correspondence randomly stops/she learns of thanaticaās destruction, she wants to make sure heās fine or pick up his ashes whichever comes first and as theyāre fairly close she really hopes heās okay we arenāt gonna think about her coming to the town during the events of marbles nest okay She might get into a polycule with Eva and Yulia after getting into town it depends on what healers route is considered canon lol. Sheās also an engineer we love a woman in stem!! Other than Yulia and Eva I think sheād be scared of everyone else in town especially grief actually maybe sheād get along with Rubin?? Maybe?? I dunno. Sheād also find the twins scary but I do not think Daniil would ever allow either near her considering how Andrey acts to another family member of his. Also suppose if I consider that homunculus idea thatās another character for her to play off of!! Let her be an auntie!! Sheād fucking spoil any niece she has rotten lolļæ¼
Okay hereās just some random fun facts about her now!! Since sheās fairly new character lol. Sheās like 6ā4 she is taller than everyone in her family and sheās very cocky about it, she has heterochromia one of her eyes is a muted green and the other a dark brown. She also has a unibrow itās very important i mention her unibrow!!. ZoÅka made Daniil get spiders out of her room when they were kids because she developed rather nasty arachnophobia and their father would just hand wave her away, their dad would also force Daniil to bring her with when he went out so imagining very married university Daniil having to bring along his eleven year old sister to go out with his spouse. She inherited the Dankosvky trait of talking with hands. Sheās very much theatrical doing lots of gestures leaning in when she thinks sheās got a nailed with a great point of logic/when she believes sheās beaten you in the mental game of chess you werenāt aware was happening. She has a Monroe piercing and an eyebrow piercing ļæ¼
She has a decent relationship with Falin there was probably a bit of idolization in the early years where she wanted to hang around him because this is my older siblings partner and I really want him to think Iām cool and I want him to like me. She absolutely did her own piercings because her dad forbid it and then went crying to Daniil once they got infected. She is the reason he refuses to ever have children but unfortunately he has a big soft spot for her so he does end up bailing her out of alotta her antics. She probably accidentally started a fire at thanatica once while visiting lord Daniil canāt catch a break in that regard between having someone drinking formaldehyde and someone else with fires he needs to start banning people.
#not much info for her yet lore lore wise#but still have some fun stuff involving her!!#asks tag#mutuals tag#oc tag

Top Albums Of 2024: #20 - #11

The second post of my albums of the year! The first post also exists!! More will follow!!! Now read on!!!!
#20. Fred Thomas - Window In The Rhythm
Indie rock

Itās been 6 years since his last proper album and much has changed regarding how much I bother with DiY indie, but I go back a long way with Fred and so Iāll always be excited when he brings a new record out. And all told, Window In The Rhythm is really very good! Most closely resembling 2015ās All Are Saved of his many previous albums, it consists of 7 largely lengthy art rock grinds that take the minutia of relationships and picks away at them remorselessly (there are one or two softer songs in there but most of it is pretty unforgiving stuff). The appropriately titled āHoursā is a bit of a drag but everything else here sounds fantastic and works very well for drifting away to on the grim winter afternoons. Given how the songs kinda melt into each other, I tend to engage with it all as a series of classic Fred set pieces, with my current faves being the way the gentle, ringing guitar arpeggios of "Season Of Carelessness" at first gradually and then suddenly give way to its fizzing, intense electronic coda, and also the bit in opener āEmbankmentā where Fred does his fast talking about 90s acts party piece, singingĀ āI made you a tape - withthesamesquarepushersongonitfourtimes - but not in a rowā and I know that my favourite indie dude is back for real.
#19. Aespa - Armageddon
K-pop

I tend to struggle to focus on k-pop - i can never remember who's who, partly a function of not being able to buy them here on CD - but mercifully Aespa did a cheap retail version of Armageddon and i've managed to give it more time than most things. And their first full length album turned out to be a game of two halves: the first five songs feature a harder, hip hop influenced sound, full of drama and flash but with a hint of Britney here and there, while the remainder takes a lighter, more girlish tone, with "Bahama" coming off like a kind of k-pop "Kokomo" (which is good, not bad like you think) while "Live My Life" goes full pop punk but with a characteristic, slightly restrained quality that makes it all the more charming. A strong debut and an entertainingly distinct calling card that'll make it easier for me to distinguish them from their peers from now on.
#18. Beabadoobee - This Is How Tomorrow Moves
Indie rock; Singer-songwriter

Beaās third full album was recorded in LA with Rick Rubin and often seemed as in thrall to America as that would suggest, with the guitars rocked up for a 90s alt vibe and her accent set to a mid Atlantic twang. "Take A Bite" and "Beaches" were both terrific anthems that confirmed her status as burgeoning indie icon but it was her more delicate material that came off best, as "Girl Song" and "This Is How It Went" showcased her huge talent as a singer-songwriter of the old school mode.
#17. Doja Cat - Scarlet 2 CLAUDE
Rap; RnB

Last yearās Scarlet was a terrific album but one where its massive hits failed to carry it to general success. Continuing the era is a brave move but one suspects that this might be a final hurrah for Doja in the rap game before going back to paying the bills. The tone is similar on Scarlet 2 but perhaps a little more lowkey, with songs like "MASC" exuding a melancholy rarely seen on the more bravado infused OG record. But thereās still a lot of fun to be had here too, like on the poppier "OKLOSER" where Doja uses that cute, mocking voice that she does so well and takes it all to some hilariously petty places
#16. Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department
Pop/rock

āHow much sad did you think I had in me?ā Taylor sings after about 20 minutes here and ngl, thereās quite a lot. Her 11th album has been divisive and understandably so: thereās a sense in which the Antonoff and Dessner partnerships feel a bit played out and its often lugubrious and downbeat tone can get a bit exhausting at times, especially when you tie in the 15 (count 'em!) bonus tracks (which I have mostly tended to avoid). But once you warm to its themes a little, Taylor is still a terrific songwriter and "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart", "But Daddy I Love Him" and the sparkling title track are among her best in whatās largely a strong set, at least til the occasionally lacklustre final third. At heart, TTPD knits together an engrossing narrative which plays on the loneliness of breaking up when yr the most famous woman in the world. Whether you have much sympathy for that is yr own call but for myself, I still think itās pretty fascinating
#15. Remi Wolf - Big Ideas
Funk pop, rock

I came to Remi Wolfās second album for the funk bangers but stayed for the hooky indie rock tunes too, at least after Iād gotten over how much i wanted there to be more funk bangers. The most immediate material here is definitely in her sunshine RnB pop style, with "Cinderella", "Pitiful" and "Frog Rock" being some of the catchiest songs Iāve heard all year. But, given time, the rockier "Alone In Miami" became a huge favourite too, with Remiās diaristic lyricism adding a dimension beyond the hooks and riffing. Big Ideas is comfortable reaching across the stylistic spectrum, being the first record i've heard for a long time that takes in both Prince and Daniel Johnston as notable influences. In summary: there are two Wolfs within this album and both of them are good!
#14. Jessica Pratt - Here In the Pitch
Singer-songwriter; Folk pop; Retro
Her third album Quiet Signs felt a bit hazy and nebulous at times but Here In The Pitch returned to the strong melodies of Jessās earlier material, a mid century pop record that frequently feels like a warm summer night somewhere in Latin America circa 1962. Tho itās sometimes as minimal as its small hours vibe might suggest, Here In The Pitch contains plenty of pop energy, full of Spectorish rumble and swaying bossanovas as well as being as packed with hooks as any of this yearās big sellers. While the atmosphere does sometimes tend twds eeriness, Pratt's distinctive babyvoiced coo always feels welcoming on an album where she sounds like she's really enjoying herself.
#13. Tyler the Creator - Chromakopia
Rap; Hip Hop
Iāve never managed to connect much with Tyler before but Chromakopia really blew me away. I'm a sucker for the kind of upbeat funk and soft soul beats that he tends to use here, but his extremely in yr face, percussion heavy approach is also a big draw and the way this album comes at you right out of the gate is hugely impressive. Lyrically, thereās some of the usual bragging that Iād expect but Tyler also gets into the kind of awkward personal and moral quandaries that make up life's grey areas too. Songs like "Hey Jane" and "Take Your Mask Off" have a real depth of character to them, exploring issues like unwanted pregnancy and personal disillusionment in a thoughtful way that doesn't look for neat answers.
#12. Lizzy McAlpine - Older
Singer songwriter; Folk-rock; Retro

Lizzyās third album, while coherent enough in its focus, finds her stylistically split between a Laura Marling type singer songwriter vein and something more obviously retro focused. In all truth Older is rarely a cheerful record - a young womanās odyssey thru a time of change type of thing - but it is beautifully rendered, either in rich Fleetwood Mac-esque arrangements or spare, delicate solo accompaniments which reinforce the desperation at its heart. Iāve struggled a little with some of the final third, where the backing tends to drop to a bare minimum and thatās probably kept this out of the top 10 here. But the strength of the melodies and the real character and power of her delivery are getting me now to a point where Iām more consistently enjoying all of it: itās just the kind of record where some parts of it take a little longer to come into full focus than others. This sort of folky, soul bearing singer songwriter is not always the kind of thing that i can get along with but, far more than most albums of its kind, Older is an absolute gem.
#11. Halsey - The Great ImpersonatorĀ
Pop/rock

The Great Impersonator was largely inspired by Halseyās struggles with life threatening illness and much has been made of her āmain character syndromeā by some, regarding the way she places her fears and trials at the centre of the record. In truth it can feel quite jarring at times - and occasionally exhausting - but what it actually made me think of is the way that I, as someone with long term disabling illness, often donāt bring things up, in fact make myself small and donāt talk about the basics of my life, for fear of not being heard or accommodated. So when Halsey talks about her issues here, then it really does feel genuinely moving to hear someone making that space for herself and refusing to be silent.
None of this would matter much if The Great Impersonator sucked but - lucky for us - itās absolutely fantastic. The multi-decade concept feels a bit hard to parse but generally you can just ignore it and focus on the songs, a clash of genres to rival her masterpiece Manic but with an even greater depth of emotional turmoil to draw upon. Aside from illness, there are the usual self hating bangers like "Ego", and a mix of the two is often welcome too: āDog Yearsā especially bristles with fury as Ashley growls āthey say all dogs go to Heaven / well, what about a bitch?ā and indeed the record is well stocked with good one liners throughout. It's fair to say that the consistently downbeat focus can make for a grim listen and also that the returning "Letter To God" songs can come off as a bit repetitive and boring. But thereās sweetness here too as well as harsh reality - especially on the glorious, featherlight title track - and I suspect a bit more time with this would have shunted it into the top 10.
And that Top 10 is coming soon! i have actually written the posts! Maybe starting tomorrow! Bye for now!

This Day in History: Tibor Rubin's Bravery in Korea
At about this time in 2005, a hero receives the Medal of Honor. Tibor āTedā Rubin had survived imprisonment, both during World War II and the Korean War. āHow did I make it?ā he mused. āThe Lord only knows. . . . there were so many times I was supposed to die over there, you know, and Iām still here. Itās a miracle.ā
The Hungarian-born Rubin was just 13 years old when he was seized and taken to the Mauthausen concentration camp during World War II. āEvery day so many people were killed,ā he remembered. āBodies piled up God knows how high. We had nothing to look forward to but dying.ā
He didnāt die, though. Instead, he was among those liberated by the U.S. Army in May 1945.

I took these pictures myself. Some of these books are old, some were just poorly handled over the years, and all were thrifted across the second-hand stores of Dublin.
Some classic Asian literature I own:
Monkey: The Journey to the West by Wu Ch'eng-en, translated by Arthur Waley.
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong, translated by Martin Palmer.
Rashomon and Seventeen Other Stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, translated by Jay Rubin.
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms summary:
A Chinese historical fiction piece that seamlessly weaves together the fictitious and legendary aspects of the historically documented rise of three powerhouses vying for total control of the country. Full of treachery, court intrigue, ambitious characters and deceptive ones alike.
Some lovely quotes from The Romance of the Three Kingdoms:
āTo kill deliberately is very wrong,ā said Chen Gong. āI would rather betray the world than let the world betray me,ā was Cao Caoās reply.
"A man plans. The heaven decides the outcome."
"Let me ask, my lord. Would you rather give yourself to the world, or would you rather make the world yours?"
"Work hard and even harder! Do not carry out the evil just because it is small, and do not hesitate to do the good just because it is small. Only virtue and benevolence can move the people's heart. Your father lacked virtue, hence don't emulate me as a model."
"In peace you are an able subject; in chaos you are a crafty hero!"
I made another two similar posts, one for Monkey: The Journey to the West and one for Rashomon and Seventeen Other Stories.
I reblog bookish content and since I have a home library I also make bookish content myself; aesthetic book pics, reviews, recommendations, quotes, excerpts, hauls and cats.

So if jaspis is the Swedish word for jasper, then what do you guys use as Lapis Lazuli and Jasper's ship name?
Good question! Sadly, there are two fundamental misconceptions at the basis of this question, two assumptions you made that are not true.
It implies there is a swedish fandom. There isnāt. There are swedish fans. Iāve found forum posts discussing how bad the dub is, there was enough of an audience to make a fuzz about an iffy translation choice, and Iāve even found some fan translations and covers of songs. HERE is a whole playlist.
The truth is that most swedish fans who were old enough to want to engage in a fandom, look at fanart, read fanfic, etc, they probably did what I did: watch the show in english and then join the english-speaking fandom. I only started watching the dub out of morbid curiosity, and then I watched the entire thing with my little brother who doesnāt know much english yet.
You give the dub too much credit. You are correct in assuming they would translate the gemsā names, because they did do that. So Garnet is called Granat, Amethyst is called Ametist, and Pearl is called PƤrlan (a translation Iām not fond of for reasons I wonāt go into now).
Your mistake is in thinking that they would be consistent with this. Like, at all. The dub is consistently inconsistent with its naming scheme. I have a conspiracy theory, that the show was translated by three different people who took turns doing different episodes, but they did not talk to each other and they maybe also hated each other.
The worst offender is what they did to my poor cotton candy-haired goddess Rose Quartz. Rose Quartz is āRosenkvartsā in swedish. You could call her Ros for short. Maybe Rosa, if you wanna be cute. They did not do that, oh no. They called her, drum roll⦠Rose Kvarts. Which is some swenglish nonsense and every time they say that, it inflicts psychic damage on me.
So what does this mean for everyoneās favorite Big Buff OstbĆ„ge? Well, they did not bother translating Jasperās name, they just call her⦠Jasper. They also do this with Ruby, Sapphire, and a few others. However, remember, consistently inconsistent. There are, according to the notes I took while watching the show with my brother, two episodes where they DO call Jasper āJaspis.ā Super Watermenlon Island and Crack the Whip. And again, Ruby and Sapphire suffered this as well, occasionally being called āRubinā and āSafir.ā
Conclusion Letās construct three scenarios wherein there is a swedish fandom of Steven Universe.
In the first scenario, the swedish-speaking fandom uses the names as they are given within the dub, prioritizing the first or most common name used. In this scenario, the Jasper/Lapis Lazuli ship would probably still be called Jaspis. I can imagine it being bit of a meme with people being like āYou ship Jaspis? D-do you ship her with herself?ā and everyone has a sensible chuckle about it.
In the second scenario, the swedish-speaking fandom uses the original english names for the characters, as well as the ship names. In this scenario, the Jasper/Lapis Lazuli ship is still called Jaspis.
In the third scenario, the dub was not a nigh-incomprehensible mess, but translated all the gem names properly, as it should have done. In this scenario, what would the swedish-speaking fandom call the Jasper/Lapis Lazuli ship, or rather, the Jaspis/Lapis Lazuli ship? I donāt know, but Iām partial to Jazuli. Maybe Laspis?
Final Thoughts This ask reignited a dormant hatred within me, hatred I thought I had outgrown and left behind. I was certain I didnāt need it. But it is a part of me, the part I always have to repress. I donāt know that I can do it much longer.

BEGGING you to drop your patho fic recs or the 5 you mentioned on that post please š
(After a long silence, the Haruspex travels to the capital to seek out his old companion.)
I'm pretty sure everyone and their mother has read this but if you haven't you should because it's just that good. It will fuck you up. The ending is like a grand piano being dropped on your head (in a good way).
(āHe wounds, Cub. You are aware of that.ā
āYes. But he also heals. What we saw of him back then was also a reflection of us. He became what he needed to be in order to do his duties. We were hostile to one another, Stakh. Imagine how it was for us and how it was for an outsider⦠how it still is for an outsider.ā Artemy looked down. Itās been months since the plague ended and still others treated Dankovsky like a stranger. He treated himself as a stranger. Calling him any other thing would have felt disingenuous... but it still felt wrong.
āOf course. Humans need to adapt to their surroundings to live and survive. But snakes do not adapt when their skins shed, nor do they become anew. They become more of what they already are.ā Rubin spoke slowly, choosing his words with either care or caution while looking at Daniilās signature coat on the rack.)
Will have you saying "this can't get any worse" and then immediately things will get worse. So angsty but so very worth it in the end. One of the only fics I've read that truly captures the feeling of catharsis in pathologic.
The Town Theatre Presents: Orpheus and Eurydice by PlayerProphet (you need an ao3 account to read)
(Winter falls in the Town-on-Gorkhon. Daniil Dankovsky is told that his peer, Artemy Burakh, knows the secret to eternal life, but isn't aware that he knows it. Daniil vows to learn what Artemy knows-without-knowing, while preparing for his performance as the leading role in the town's production of Orpheus and Eurydice.)
My favourite fic that heavily engages with the meta side of Pathologic, specifically the "theatre of death" aspect of Pathologic 2.
(The blooming twyre dizzies, but the point of touch is grounding.
His words, still, come clouded and vague, āThis has happened before.ā
āNot like this,ā Artemyās voice is rough and curt. Hopeful again. āYou never stayed.ā
He blinks. āI canāt stay. Itās not how this works.ā
[Or; Daniil starts remembering.])
Time. Loop. Angst. Will also fuck you up.
(On the thirteenth day the lights reignite and the actor Artemy Burakh takes the stage once more. In the Theatre reigned death and with them came the birds, seeking bones and carrion.
It was the taste of love that made the blood all the sweeter.)
Artemy must make the ultimate sacrifice to save the children, again.
(the major character death tag is for temporary character death btw)

The Right-Wing Stupidity Hall Of Shame
This is what one might call a living document as well as a sort of ābest/worst ofā for this blog. How this is going to work is that we are going to do this by year and month and every time I cover a right-winger who says something particularly dumb Iāll add that post to the hall. In short, watch this space every time I get ticked off in a post.
October 2024:
Allie Beth Stuckey plugs her book for fifteen minutes and then uses a grocery store checkout magazine to prove that witchcraft is on the rise.
Tim Pool and three other morons discuss government weather control and AI. Itās as bad as it sounds.
Steven Crowder makes agonizingly dumb arguments against feminism and declares that the left isnāt charitable becauseā¦they think that the government is responsible for disaster relief.
September 2024:
Ben Shapiro accidentally comes out against lobbying
Michael Knowles doesn't understand poetry at all and decides that the reason that Trump is being made fun of on TikTok is because Trump intentionally set himself up to be mocked so that he could be associated with "delight"
Dave Rubin discusses the latest way the Democrats are going to steal the election....Taylor Swift.
August 2024:
Matt Walsh tries to go "undercover" at the DNC, it goes about as badly as you might expect and he gets his cover blown on the first day.
Matt Walsh doesn't know what a "holiday park" is, can't seem to decide whether he likes riots or not, spews white nationalist bigotry, and then defends colonialism.
Laura Loomer desperately tries to spin a conspiracy theory about Tim Walz having ties to terrorist organizations
Charlie Kirk has no idea how to handle Tim Walz and advocates for parents to financially abuse their kids into voting for Trump.
July 2024:
Broadcasting live from a Bitcoin convention, Michael Knowles lies about Kamala Harris and complaints about the Olympics and lab grown testicles.
Dave Rubin thinks that Biden isn't president anymore. This has nothing to do with him wanting to walk out of a bet he made in 2020.
Candace Owens compares transgender people to baphomet, cites a guy who talked shit while he was high, and declares that the Beatles were a psy-op
June 2024:
Charlie Kirk hosts a "Young Woman's Leadership Summit" dedicated to how he feels that men are under attack and allows Candace Owens to tell ridiculous lies about the Daily Wire during her speech.
Charlie Kirk interviews a felon who seems to think that COVID was engineered as a bio-weapon.
Dave Rubin knows absolutely nothing about New York's justice system
May 2024:
Matt Walsh's absolutely horrendous take on the dating market.
Tim Pool devotes an excruciatingly long amount of time to using ChatGPT to predict the 2024 election results.
April 2024:
Charlie Kirk speculates that the Pro-Palestine protests on college campuses are Soros funded because "the tents all look similar" and then goes on a bizarre rant about how oppressed he is because he's white.
Michael Knowles defends a Republican politician who admitted that she shot her dog and, seemingly forgetting that he made an episode with a segment praising predictive AI just days earlier, warns that predictive AI will corrupt our humanity.
Tim Pool dedicates an entire episode to yelling about furries in Utah.
The Daily Wire attacks women's sports and accidentally reveals their hypocrisy around trans athletes.
Fox News and the Daily Wire freak out over European Scrabble with hilarious results.
March 2024:
Candace Owens uses old photos, an RT writer, a clairvoyant that defamed the French prime-minister, and an antisemitic blog that says that Emmanuel Macron wearing a pink tie is a sign that he's a satanist as sources to prove that Brigitte Macron is secretly a transwoman.
February 2024:
According to Ben Shapiro, AI is anti-white. To prove this he lies about an executive order, ignores a massive amount of data, and digs through the old tweets of some guy who works at Google.
Chaya Raichik gives a terrible interview where she endorses a white nationalist conspiracy theory and split hairs about how ok it is for journalists to lie (but only her, not everybody else)
Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro attempt to argue that society has abolished all taboos and that's leading to an increase in "sexual boredom"
Matt Walsh advocates for harassing trans kids and tells people who are having difficulty living on the minimum wage to "stop being on the minimum wage".
Tim Pool makes multiple poor defenses for some guy's who defaced a rainbow crosswalk meant to honor the LGBTQ victims of a mass shooting and then calls on Ron DeSantis to commute their sentences.
January 2024:
Dave Rubin accidentally reveals that he may be the laziest journalist of all time multiple times over the span of a single episode.
Charlie Kirk teams up with a guy who collaborates with Neo-Nazis, a guy who got fired from FOX for being too racist, and some guy who works for him that sued Arizona once to declare that all movies are psyops, make disgusting false statements about the border, and praise a white nationalist who works at VDARE.
Tim Pool puts out an absolutely ridiculous episode where he uses jokes from TV shows to prove how AI women are going to lead to the death of society.
Matt Walsh thinks it's gay to love your wife and misrepresents every point he argues in the episode.
Tucker Carlson interviews a congressman who thinks that his wife having a nightmare is proof that COVID is a ploy to take away American liberty about supposed January 6th evidence that we will never get to see.
Michael Knowles wants to create cartoon Nazi propaganda to "own Disney for transing the kids"
Tim Pool thinks that "sneaky fucker males" are turning women lesbian.
December 2023:
Michael Knowles is really concerned that a five second clip from a CocoMelon video is going to turn kids gay.
Dave Rubin casually suggests that 65,000 people being laid off due to the Bud Lite boycott is OK because "They'll just get a job somewhere else"
Matt Walsh fantasizes about misgendering trans people on air and generally conducts himself like an unempathetic child.
Ezra Levant doesn't even bother to read a document he's citing even though it directly contradicts his point
Tim Pool uses an out of context tweet containing disinformation as a source and as a result ends up spreading misinformation about Taylor Swift.
Michael Knowles decides that porn videos turn people trans and gay, to prove this he interviews a woman who tries to push back on his stupidity but ends up getting steamrolled by him
Ben Shapiro has no reading comprehension and declares that everyone on the left worships Beyonce

I donāt know how to even process this yet. 2:19 AM on September 20th, I got the news that my best friend of eight years had passed away. They had been fighting cancer for a while now. Now theyāre gone. We thought we had a few more weeks at least. I was only three hours away from seeing them for the first time.
Their family is reaching out for funds, for a memorial service. If anyone has even just a couple dollars they can spare, it would be so appreciated.
The GoFundMe has since been closed, but Iām leaving this post up for the duration of my hiatus.
Thank you,
ā Rubin
