See, these expeditions are a conundrum.

One that no amount of "There's nothing to be afraid of, Woods" helps.

Xavier lives by very strict "don't be a white family man" rules. If a white father in a horror film does it, he actively tries not to. Graveyards might be more in the territory of dumb partying teenagers, but that's beside the point. The problem is that with only two people, he can't really just stay at the gate, because then that would qualify as We Should Split Up.

God, what if he got mugged?

What if he got mugged BY A DEMON?

He's probably safer with Bray in the graveyard than with his cat on a leash he got for twenty bucks on Etsy outside it.

Besides, his battery is on 13% (probably definitely the ghosts fault) and his anxiety breathing aid ~hold button for ten seconds and exhale~ app won't even open. And Bonkers really likes to sniff the flowers at the graves.

It also helps that another couple kinda wander in with them at one point, college kids or something who look unfamiliar with the territory, assuming this is an actual lantern light tour.

Bray dramatically announces the stories of the poor souls in their graves and the grand lives they lived in somehow still a hushed whisper that just *carries*. When they finally make it back to the exit, and the couple thanks him and leaves, Xavier asks if any of that back there was true. To which he gets a laugh and "Hell if I know, I was just trying to make you feel better."
