Hey! Today on #malcified, Iâd like to share this sketch called #SustainedDisability focused on the #UN #SDGs and corporate #ESG policies that are key drivers of major transformation toward a more #green and #sustainable future. And of course our collective disability, when it comes to over-reliance on fossil-fuel and the awesome machines (#ICE) that run on it.
Disability: a physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities. - Oxford
Renewable energy is energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed. Sunlight and wind, for example, are such sources that are constantly being replenished. Renewable energy sources are plentiful and all around us. - UN
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) is shorthand for an investing principle that prioritizes environmental issues, social issues, and corporate governance. - Wiki

As the world transitions toward renewable energy to power their daily needs, #Transportation and #Logistics being a major contributor of COâ and other toxic emissions that are cause for #pollution, #climatechange, #globalwarming, and other major #naturaldisasters that are increasing threat, exposure, and impact financially and reputationally to businesses, organizations, economies, individuals and communities through the actualization of #PhysicalRisk and #TransitionRisk, itâs imperative that #PolicyMakers act with prudence and #Policymeasures at National Government Level, Industry and Sectoral Level, and at individual Business levels are implemented and enforced without delay.
#TonefromtheTop is always an essential driver for change and when leading global #MNCs and #Consulting firms pave the way to this necessary transition, raise awareness and enable transformation by implementing Policies and Initiatives that accelerate the culture of transition, the effects cascade throughout the sector creating an environment of #peerpressure, while enhancing business Reputation, Stakeholder engagement, Employee pride and ownership, Share values, Top and Bottom Lines, Goodwill and Asset Valuations while protecting and preventing a #HotHouseEarthScenario in the long run.

Enhancing CSR Impact through Collaboration with MARPU Foundation
Whatâs to Read:
Integration of CSR Goals with respect to corporate giants SDGs.
How MARPU impacts these strategies?
Partnering with MARPU.
MARPUâs SDG Initiatives.
Integration of CSR Goals with respect to corporate giants SDGs:
In todayâs world, the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become more crucial than ever. Companies worldwide are acknowledging their role in promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and realizing that their responsibilities extend beyond just shareholders to encompass communities and the environment. Integrating CSR initiatives into business operations can create shared value, benefiting society. However, the true impact of CSR can only be unraveled via strategic partnerships with organizations that bear the passion and resources toward leading change in a sustainable way.
How MARPU impacts these strategies?
The SDGs provide a universal framework through which businesses can structure their CSR strategies. But setting specific targets also helps big corporations make a dent in broader, global efforts while enhancing their reputation and social impact. MARPU Foundation, with its work by way of provisioning clean water in rural communities, manifests this best. Their initiatives are detailed into SDG 6: ensuring clean water and sanitation.
In todayâs digitally driven society, the use of new technologies can develop volunteering activities to their fullest potential in both efficiency and reach. Technology also enables the broadening of the volunteer base through remote volunteering by opening opportunities for people to participate regardless of where they may be located, thus aiding companies in engaging diverse individuals.
Therefore, overlaps between the values and goals of the corporation and the NGO are a must for the strategic partnerships to work. A notable example is the collaboration between a tech giant and the MARPU Foundation to promote digital literacy.
One of the major attributes the MARPU Foundation employs in establishing the impact of its programs is quantitative and qualitative measurement of data. Likewise, corporations must adopt strong analytics to capture direct and indirect results for their CSR interventions.
Partnering with MARPU:
CSR âCORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITYâ:
Unleash Positive Change: Adopt a Project
Powerful Impact with Corporate Donations
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT:
Volunteerism: A New Chapter in Employee Engagement
Payroll Giving: Empowerment through Generosity
BRAND DEVELOPMENT:
Event Sponsorships: Merge Visibility with Impact
Donation Boxes: Simple Giving, Significant Impact
Cause-Related Marketing: Where Business Meets Compassion
MARPUâs SDG Initiatives:
The MARPU Foundation adheres to their work theme of supporting the SDGs:
â Environmental Sustainability:
1.    SDG6(Clean Water and Sanitation)
2.    SDG7(Affordable and Clean Energy)
3.    SDG11(Sustainable Cities and Communities)
4.    SDG12(Responsible Consumption and Production)
5.    SDG13(Climate Action)
6.    SDG14 &SDG15(Life below Water & Life on Land)
â Economic Development:
1.    SDG1 & SDG2(NO Poverty & Zero Hunger)
2.    SDG8(Decent Work and Economic Growth)
3.    SDG9(Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure)
4.    SDG10(Reduced Inequalities)
â Social Development:
1.    SDG3(Good Health and Well-being)
2.    SDG4(Quality Education)
3.    SDG5 (Gender Equality)
â Partnership for Goals:
1.    SDG17

âď¸
Coorg Public School and PU College in Gonikoppal, South Kodagu, Karnataka, has taken an inspiring initiative through their UN SDG Lab activity, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
Their dedication to promoting responsible consumption and production is exemplified through their creative approach of making paper bags. These eco-friendly paper bags not only serve as an environmentally conscious alternative but also contribute to reducing plastic waste in their community. What's truly commendable is their commitment to spreading awareness about the importance of sustainable consumption and production practices.
The involvement of students as UN Volunteers in this endeavor demonstrates a profound sense of responsibility and global citizenship. Through their efforts under the banner of COPS-UNV, they are making a meaningful impact not only within their school but also in the broader context of sustainable development.
Coorg Public School and PU College's dedication to SDG-12 serves as an inspirational example of how educational institutions can play a pivotal role in fostering positive change, both locally and globally, by actively engaging in initiatives that align with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

While in New York for a week in mid-July, I visited a few stores for friends who were quick to maximize my trip to NYC. đ One of them being a visit to @patagonia for @farmerenzo to trade in his worn out jacket, as part of the companyâs #WornWear initiative, which allows you to trade in old or damaged items for store credit. . Although not a Patagonia clothing owner myself, Iâve always been a fan of the brand, so I was more than happy to oblige. Initially, I went to their store in Soho (5th photo) but it was unfortunately closed because it was their staff field day (âLet my people surf,â as founder Yvon Chouinard might say). đ . So, I made my way to their Bowery branch (1st photo, with me wearing a beautiful Esmeralda skirt from @anthillfabric, another lovely, eco-ethical clothing brand) where I was met with signs of their new water-saving, low carbon dyeing technology, and their accommodating staff who swiftly facilitated the exchange (or at least as soon as Enzo replied with what item he wanted in exchange, which took a bit of time hence a quick photo op with @yassanchez đ) . I really didnât feel I needed anything in the store, so I didnât proceed to look, but if I ever realize I do need outdoor wear, I believe that money spent on Patagonia would be money well spent. . [P.S. When I was in NYC back in 2015, I also stumbled upon a roving repair caravan of Patagoniaâs, making its way through a neighborhood in Brooklyn, mending clothes for free as part of its #WornWear campaign throughout the country. How can you not love these guysss?] . . . . #bcorporation #mindfulbusiness #consciouscommerce #consciouscompany #scp #sdg12 #responsibleproduction #sustainableproduction #lowcarbon #waterfootprint #patagonia #outdoor #outerwear #sportswear #athlethic #ethicalfashion #consciousconsumption #responsibleconsumption #socialenterprise (at Patagonia)

#MUNIonThis: How can you keep your home waste and toxin-free? Research and try out natural, DIY recipes (like 1 part white vinegar, 1 part water, and a few drops of disinfectant essential oils like lemongrass), and/or educate yourself about ingredients and brands you can trust. . In this photo are: 100% pure lemongrass essential from @ritualph, an old jar with a household concoction, and lemongrass enzyme deodorizer (and surface cleaner) also from @ritualph for those who prefer to buy something ready-made but environmentally-friendly. đ . To use the enzyme deodorizer, dilute 1 part with 5 parts of water, spray and surface and wipe clean. Spray directly on cabinets, shoe racks, storage areas, drains, pet quarters and other stinky places to reduce odors. . Discover and share more zero waste ways at home at our upcoming #MuniMeetup on August 11, 2-6pm at @clockinbgc! @ritualphâs Bea Crisostomo will be one of our featured panelists, but thereâs plenty to learn from other panelists and fellow attendees too! đ . Icons of Change Awards 2025
We are proud to honor Marjorie Renner, a former fashion model turned visionary designer, as the Sustainable Fashion Visionary of the Year at the Icons of Change Awards 2025. Through Renner House of Fashion, she has revolutionized luxury bag design by combining Filipino craftsmanship with sustainability, making a lasting impact in both the fashion industry and the lives of marginalized communities.
Marjorie Rennerâs commitment to sustainability and ethical fashion aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production). She redefines luxury by using indigenous materials, repurposing discarded components, and ensuring that every piece is crafted with environmental consciousness.
Rennerâs innovative approach incorporates termite-eaten wood, fallen leaves, and other reclaimed materials, proving that high fashion can be both elegant and eco-friendly. Her signature minaudières and handbags have captivated global markets while promoting the artistry of Filipino craftsmanship.
Beyond her designs, Renner is a dedicated womenâs advocate. She has trained mothers of sexually abused children in bag-making, equipping them with skills to rebuild their lives. Her Paris-based label also supports educational scholarships and collaborates with Pinoy Sojourners to provide opportunities for underprivileged children in the Philippines.
Renner believes that a womanâs purse reflects her personality, and through her creations, she seeks to empower individuals while championing sustainability, craftsmanship, and social responsibility. Her work stands as a testament to the power of fashion to drive meaningful change.
Join Us in Celebrating Marjorie Renner!

#5: MontrĂŠal Protocol
SDG: #12
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Connected to Big Ideas: B1, C1, F1

âThe Antarctic hole is stabilizing and may be slowly recovering.â (NASA, n.d)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In the 1970âs, the detrimental effects of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) began to surface. Up in the atmosphere, CFCs would break apart into chlorine atoms after exposure to high levels of UV radiation and destroy ozone molecules (Clancy, 2011).
Afterwards, the following reactions occur:
(chlorine reacts with ozone to form chlorine monoxide and oxygen)
(The product of the previous reaction, chlorine monoxide, reacts with another molecule of oxygen, releasing chlorine that can further âdestroyâ ozone molecules) (Brenna & Bressa., 2015)
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:Â
The cycle of chlorine atoms destroying ozone molecules continues. One chlorine atom can destroy thousands of ozone molecules, resulting in the depletion of the ozone layer. Although CFCs arenât the only contributing substances, they are the most abundant. As the hole in the ozone layer increases, more UV radiation can reach the earth. This increases the risks of skin cancer (EPA, 2018) and negatively affects atmospheric circulation (NASA, n.d).
Second CANADIAN CONNECTION:
To combat the effects of CFCs, the MontrĂŠal Protocol was signed. This 1987 international agreement meant to phase out the use of CFCs by 2000 in developed countries (Clancy, 2011). In 2016, the Kigali Amendment was adopted to phase out the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) worldwide. HFCs are a widely used alternative to CFCs (U.S Department of State, 2021).
