I'm reading into that video WAY too much, but I'm so touched by Oscar replying "mechanic" for Lando's hidden talent. He didn't make a joke out of it, didn't reply something common we know about Lando like golf or photography.
He said "mechanic", a genuine and meaningful answer, a technical useful skill that Lando has and that Oscar probably admires because he looks like the type to value intelligence, and we DID see Lando working on his car during his first year at McLaren when he did a bit of everything.
To me it goes hand in hand with Oscar helping when Lando struggles with his words or reading. He doesn't make fun of Lando for it, never talks down to him like he's dumb, because he knows his intelligence is elsewhere.
It's small I know but it makes me so happy... the care and respect and fondness Oscar has for Lando is heartwarming.
ebay: We all know Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are driven competitors 🏁: Now, find out what fuels their passions off the track.

Law is a lovable character. But I think it blinds people to his flaws.
If Kidd's defeat is considered karma for his bad decisions and bad leadership, the same applies to Law. In fact, in some ways, Law did worse than Kidd. Heart pirates were the least prepared for the race to claim One Piece.
Without Law, Heart pirates had no name and no face. It wasn't because they worked as a team, I think there was an intention to keep them under a veil of protection. Law's appearance contrasted the rest of his crew mates. He pulled the world's attention towards solely himself, perhaps so his friends could mix within the crowd as civilians when he's gone..
Similar to Luffy, Law wasn't particularly looking for strong people. Now take Usopp as an example. He was a regular village boy with great sharpshooting skills. Roughly, he had the same starting point as Penguin and Shachi, but now he's leagues above them bounty and achievement-wise. Straw hats' journey had a clear aim to be the very best, each of them faced the worst adversaries and grew as the crews of the future Pirate king. Penguin and Sachi, on the other hand, spent over a decade with a Captain who they believed was aiming for a great treasure, when in reality, the Captain was stuck in his own world. He was fighting a lone battle with his friends completely left in the dark.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The lack of transparent communication weakened the crew's foundation. They were sheltered by an overprotective captain, it stunted their growth. In fact, it was simply dishonest of Law to lie about his ambition.
Tumblr media
Law's detailed background wasn't decided back then, I think we can overlook this one. When Oda drew the panel above, I'm pretty sure Law in his mind was a much more grey character.
Kidd pirates knew what Kidd wanted. They joined their Captain's reckless adventures willingly and gleefully, Kidd never let them feel like a burden. Zoro and Killer could fight beside their captains on the rooftop, but Bepo - a polar bear mink with a great potential - wasn't ready to be there.
Law realized his goal to claim One Piece only a few days prior to leaving wano, and instead of taking time to grow as a team, he marched ahead to join the flow. I don't think he had many options, but it doesn't hurt to acknowledge his shortcomings.
At the end of day, Blackbeard can't be blamed for playing the game like a pirate. The fault was Law's. His crew was trained to tame the depth of the northern sea, not to find their place in a titan's battle royale.

Not to get autistic about trolls on main but.
(Also i am. Sleep deprived this is half coherent do not even mind me)
SCREAMING- ANyway LUTERALLY and no ome is talking about the bunker either. Yeah the whole thing was skimmed over in the movie how shes dead and he had to raise himself and people get So upset (me too tbh) about it bevause its DEVASTATING but the bunker? It lives in my head rent free
Not only knowing that he originally intended for it to be a safe space for his brothers (also thinking about how upset he was when poppy got everyone in there in the first movie to get him to come with her, which is now a lot more upsetting than it was) but the the writing? On the walls?
Like these are kids movies sure and so they wont go too deep into stuff and will use jokes to lighten and skip over heavier scenes but. It was so jarring to see when i first watched this with 0 preparation or knowledge about the plot. He spent 20 years building it, alone, horrified to the point where he was craving stuff into the WALLS
And also something something rooms/houses being symbolic to someones mental state/trauma like a blocked door indicating repressed stuff too
Its huge that he made the bunker and like its gonna make me cry again to think about it in 10 minutes but can you even IMAGINE how the brothers would react to the place? Okay maybe he changed that bit up by now (and i dont remember if we see the bunker more later on i am. Not as awake as i need to be) but if he didnt can you imagine being lead down by your baby brother into the bunker he said he will build since he was a baby for all of you only to find the most insane room youve seen in a hot minute?
Like yeah everyone was terrified of the bergens but that. That feels like something. That sure feels like Something
Branch's trauma is constantly on my mind right now. The depth of his abandonment issues and how it could be layered on top of itself.
For the longest time Branch was a character defined entirely by loss but with BroZone he's not only defined by his grief but his loneliness and guilt.
The death of Rosiepuff is so much more devastating in the context that Band Together offers. Not only was she all he had left but Floyd tasked him with taking care of her. Floyd's attempt to offer his little brother purpose only gave him more trauma to shoulder. Not to mention baby Branch had already adopted the idea that the band breaking up was his fault, what would that mean if he failed the one thing that was asked of him? He was so little when his brothers left and not much older when Rosiepuff died, he couldn't understand that it was all just a series of cruel coincidences.
Branch and how his past and his issues only get in the way of the healing process that he worked hard to start. How he's spent his entire life taking care of himself and preparing for the worst because he's sure that it's going to come, and how that means he struggles to ask for help even when he knows that he should because he doesn't need anybody. He never has before so why should he now? How it's so easy to regress into that isolationist mindset because it's easier than being vulnerable and allowing people that opportunity to either hurt him or be hurt by him again.
I have so many ideas I want to write really fleshing out how fundamentally hurt he is as a person.

Am I the only one who thinks about how impersonal Bell’s death was?
Like, from their perspective, the man who’d been their best friend for decades, fought alongside them, betrayed them. Even if they had some time to process it between the interrogation and Solovetsky, it had to have hurt.
Especially because he didn’t even give them the decency of an intimate death. That was phrased weird but let me cook.
It was just a bullet wound. He didn’t even give them an emotionally charged death. Not even point-blank. Adler was standing few feet away from him. I feel like they would’ve been more content if they’d been, say, stabbed or strangled. Because at least then they’d know Adler felt something towards them. But Adler didn’t do that. He downed them like he would’ve any other target. Quick. Disinterested.
Even after giving up everything, he still took more. He put them down, just like what he thought they were. A dog.

adler can’t stop holding bell’s face when he kisses them.
and not gently, either, not the caress of a flower petal, delicate and sweet- bell’s barely a rose if not for all their thorns, and he wrings a hand round their jaw like one might wrench out a weed. rid and tossed to the dirt with all the rest. with all the red. with all that makes them wrong. with everything that came before.
if he can’t muzzle his dog, who can?
he bends their head upward in the interrogation chair, thumb dug into their cheek, squeezing the blood from their mouth into a sanguine rivulet between the web of his fingers; he jerks bell’s face toward the evidence board when their empty eyes fix on him a moment too long, enough to unsettle him; he stamps their chin under a hard thumb when he turns them to the light, soft pupils blown wide as he watches the sweet drug take hold; he digs his fingers into their jaw when they bark too loud at their duly master, shaking sense into his dumb mutt’s whistling hole of a head.
when he deigns to let them go, he makes a point to tear his hand away, sharp and spiteful, so even with the sting they still manage to find suffering in the loss. to yearn for the hand they bit back.
so the rest comes violent, too. the rest comes hungry. the rest comes when he wants it, and he wants bell, with such a blind fervour it drives him mad. where better men might leave, kick their losses to the curb and go elsewhere to get their fill, adler digs his heels deeper in the mud, the dirt where he buries all that red he carved out of them. if it’s tenderness he wants, he can take it for himself, and leave them with the hurt. it isn’t stooping to their level if he’s the one with the leash.
he kisses bell like he’s eating them from the inside. one hand squeezed tight around their flushed face, mouth forced open into an o-shaped pucker. he nicks their lip as smirking proof of his callousness, snags it on his sharpest canine. a peck that mocks affection. licks his way inside their mouth like it’s a threat, a proclamation. you let me do this to you. you let me in, bell. let me in, let me in. such a good dog when they do, loll their tongue out pathetic and starving. he drives his thumb inside, hot, wet, forces their mouth open by the hinge of their stiffened jaw- the last laughable vestiges of their reluctance, crumbling into dust fine enough to sift like sand between his fingers. guess science still has its limits, but so do you.
when he’s worked bell’s mouth nice and wide, he flattens their tongue with a thick finger, face clamped between the rest, and while they’re just about learning to make peace with it all- the humiliation, the degradation, submission made sanctification through the eager expectation of praise- he spits inside, and makes them swallow.

Oh, yeah. And it’s not even just the backgrounds. The sheer amount of foreshadowing in S3 was is insane. But to have minute details such as the backgrounds foreshadowing the 4th ring as well, is a whole other level of impressive foreshadowing. And just impressive altogether.
I swear the team working on LMK has my whole entire unfiltered appreciation. Everyone working on it is just so damn talented and amazing at what they do.
As if S3 weren’t amazing enough with just the cast, the plot, the episodes, etc. The writing had to be fucking amazing and the art, the animation, the sound design, the music- Literally every single thing in S3 is my favorite. God, it hits SO GOOD.
S4 was awesome and action-packed and intense, I’m eager to see where we’re headed with the arrival of the 5th season, but S3 remains my favorite to date. Even if I have my own personal gripes with certain things-- such as the writers hyping up the Samadhi Fire and foreshadowing this whole thing with the fourth ring being Mei, as if it were something really important and integral to the story, only to not even really use it and just chuck it in the bin even after building it up for an entire season, essentially rendering the Samadhi Fire/Mei being the 4th ring pretty fucking pointless/useless... Therefore wasting all of its potential- I still love S3, nonetheless
And of course, the show as a whole. Flaws and all. In fact, I’d say there are way more positives about the show than any negatives I could ever even try to conjure up. So while I may have my peeves, what the show lacks, they always find a way to make up for and then some.

"i hate captions they ruin the experience" they weren't made for you. "i can just watch the show, having to read takes away from the scenes themselves" they were made for deaf/hard of hearing folk who have the same issue with closed captions but need them to understand the media. "how can anyone like closed captions?? especially people who aren't deaf / hard of hearing..." because some peolle have auditory processing issues and other people just like to read along. you're allowed to enjoy a quality of life feature even if the feature wasn't made for you. texting was made for the deaf (originating as a TTY, teletypewriter) and nowadays almost everyone uses it because it's easier than calling. it also had the added benefit of helping mute folk and people with issues socializing / communicating verbally. even if this wasn't the intended audience when the TTY was made, we aren't cancelling people for saying they prefer texting over calling, are we?

Thinking about Dadsbach- I mean Ansbach again..
Do you think he would hesitate to take on another pupil? Due to the nature of the blood cult? I wonder if he would accept the idea of someone looking up to him with such admiration. To hold enough respect to call him "dad" even, which means they see him as family. Something the Mogwyn Dynasty values very much.
He tends to humble himself, holding himself to such little regard. So I wonder how he would feel if and when Tarnished Soul uttered the words "Thanks dad." And the immediate panic that follows because that is a very heavy title to carry.
Idk man, I'm emotional. It doesn't help that both of them weild scythes which means Ansbach has every reason to teach them proper/better footwork and techniques. Even how to better handle their fire, even if his is more of a bloodyflame.
It's the possibilities aaaaaaa

YAP SESSION! I wanna ramble about Umi's powers and give a little more context since I've mentioned that she has some fire related abilities and some people questioned it, so here it is
quick note first, obviously since i'm not yet caught up things are likely to change, I don't know to what degree the ideas I have conflict with canon material, like for example i've recently found out that Marco has eerily similar powers to what I've had in mind for Umi, like almost the same damn thing, and I had no idea the whole time, so yeah things are subject to change
anyway, Umi's power doesn't actually come from a devil fruit and some people believed it's the Mera Mera no Mi but that's not exactly the case, although there are some slight connections!
I'm not gonna delve too deep into Umi's past yet but to get the gist of things, I created her with Sanji and his backstory in mind, and so I created some parallels between them, by which I mean Umi had a whole lot of uncanny experiments done on her involving genetic modification/alteration, reused samples of existing devil fruits, the whole thing ya know. the abnormality and brutality of the experiments as well as another factor i'll be talking about later all caused Umi to develop an equally abnormal condition where her blood is literally boiling inside her. yes you read that right. upon exposure to air, her blood immediately lights up in flames as though you're lighting up gasoline, hence Umi is in a constant state of burning and rapid healing, no she has not felt a single moment where there was no physical pain to be felt.
see, the idea was to enhance her body to make her blood heal/regenerate almost instantaneously, and it does, but it was also a very risky and dangerous and quite absurd goal to achieve, resulting in whatever side effect we see now.
Umi is not actually a devil fruit user she's just yet another victim of human modification through scientific experiments like Sanji except unlike Sanji it was physically implemented on her years after birth. she's not a devil fruit user yet. the catch here is that, while her mother was pregnant with Umi she had eaten some blood devil fruit (? I do not have a name for ts yet Im sorry </3) her mother's dead now, meaning the devil fruit abilities can be obtained by someone else, however for years no matter who tried nobody inherited it because it was taking an extremely slow process in settling properly in Umi's body due to the modification. technically however the fact that her bloods specifically is what sets on fire is connected to the undeveloped devil fruit.
in short, Umi has fire powers because her blood is like gasoline, so each time Umi uses her fire powers she has to bleed herself out to do so.

arcane characters dnd classes
because im bored and hyperfixating
Vi: Monk. Pit Fighter Vi is Way of the Drunken Master. Drunken Master monks fight hand-to-hand 'mimicking the style of a drunkard'. Technically you don't have to be drunk to be a Drunken Master monk so maybe she still uses those techniques while sobered up later. I think she starts out as a Way of the Open Hand monk, which is just a monk that is Very Good at Punching. The gauntlets are a magical item.
Jinx: Artillerist Artificer. Very straightforward. Makes bombs and cannons. Can use magic (referring to her use of hextech as bombs)
Ekko: Scout Rogue/Chronurgy Wizard multiclass. Scout rogues are very mobile so I think it fits him. Later on he takes two levels in Chronurgy Wizard, which gives him chronal shift. This lets him rewind time briefly to change the outcome of an action - fits pretty well, I think. He only needs two levels wizard to mimic his rewind ability and that multiclass makes him fast.
Viktor*: Transmutation Wizard. In the DnD world, both Viktor and Jayce (and Ekko!) would be wizards because they can just study magic instead of trying to harness it via technology. At level 14 the Transmutation Wizard can use their 'Transmuter's Stone' to create a panacea - a cure to all ills (plus restore youth and raise the dead. sounds familiar). Luckily, I think Transmutation Wizard fits Arcane-Viktor as well (especially once he creates the hexcore, which could be his Transmuter's Stone).
Commune Viktor is an NPC with a three-phase boss fight. The first phase is so simple you know there are other phases. I'd probably add in a mechanic where you try to talk him down in the third phase.
(Alternatively commune Viktor as we know him does not exist because the spell Revivify exists and Jayce shouldn't have to turn to unlicensed necromancy to get Viktor back**. Speaking of...)
Jayce*: Hexblade Warlock/Paladin (Oath of the Watchers)***. Again, if left to his own devices in a DnD world, Jayce would be a wizard. I'd say Abjuration (tanky wizard with protective shields) because he wants to protect people (and he's tanky), Order of Scribes (if he's focused on learning/harnessing all magic). Divination to pun on the 'Man of Progress' thing or if you interpret his glitches in s2 as visions of another world/seeing the truth of the commune members/arcane spidey-sense, which tbh really works
However, If I wanted to create Arcane-Jayce in DnD, I would make a Hexblade Warlock/Paladin multiclass. Hexblade warlocks get magic from a weapon, so it can be flavoured as Jayce using his hammer to do/cast magic. The hammer blasts can be very easily flavoured as eldritch blasts. Paladin is added narratively after the post-apocalypse world but not needed if you just wanted to mimic abilities. I'd go for Oath of the Watchers because they literally protect the realm from extraplanar threats. I've seen some people go for Devotion. That's fair, but it's a bit too Knight in Shining Armour for me.
Mel: Divine Soul Sorcerer. Also pretty easy - sorcerers come by their magic naturally, divine soul sorcerers get their power from a connection with the divine + has the gold/light/shielding imagery/spells. Hell, she's probably an aasimar? I don't know enough league lore to tell.
However, she only got her powers later. I think before that she was an Eloquence Bard or a Mastermind Rogue. Mastermind Rogues are more insightful. Both are incredibly persuasive - the bard moreso. The bard has magic - could be reflavoured as manipulation or as her sorcerer powers poking out before she knew about it. Later you could even multiclass her with sorcerer - works better with Eloquence Bard, but it's still not the most optimal multiclass (that's Jayce's). It's not bad, though, and if you only make optimal multiclasses in dnd you're going to get bored. I'd honestly go bard, only two levels in divine soul sorcerer for sorcery points, get metamagic adept feat for metamagic, it'll be fine. Divine Soul sorcerers get wings and healing at higher levels but if she's an aasimar she already has those.
Caitlyn: Inquisitive Rogue/Battlemaster Fighter multiclass. If you want to play a gunslinger in DnD the general advice is 'battlemaster with a gun'. She probably has the sharpshooter feat (she should have the sharpshooter feat). Inquisitive rogues are intelligent and focus on investigating, unravelling secrets. Rogue/Fighter multiclasses are very good - you only need three levels in fighter (edit: but maybe go for five for extra attack.) (She should also pick up the observant and martial adept feats if she can.)
Bonuses:
Vander: Vander is a bartender NPC at the tavern all our players meet up at during the first session. He's a retired high-level monk. Way of the Open Hand, of course. Just like he taught Vi.
Mylo and Claggor: I only added this because I re-watched the first episode and Mylo was apparently the only one who could pick locks. So Mylo is a Thief Rogue and Claggor is, idk, a fighter? (funnily enough both the artificer and the monk would be good picks for resident lock-picker. Not as good as rogue, but not bad)
Silco: Honestly, Silco would be an NPC with a commoner statblock, but I give him ridiculous bonuses to insight, perception, intimidation, and deception. That said, he did fight Vander, so maybe also Mastermind Rogue? With expertise in intimidation? (Still goes badly for him, though. Do not 1v1 a monk in dnd).
Singed: NPC combo necromancy wizard/alchemist artificer, focusing on the alchemy. I'd probably stick some Spores Druid/Death domain cleric stuff in just to be fun since NPCs can be whatever you want. Honestly, in the average DnD world he could just pay someone to resurrect his daughter and we'd solve half of our problems right there. He's originally from Piltover, right? He can afford it.
Ambessa Medarda: NPC Battlemaster Fighter and she has Rictus' anti-magic item that all your players hate.
Footnotes
* Jayce and Viktor cast 'spells' with hextech that reverses gravity, creates lightning, teleports - but, in the immortal words of Ms. Aabria Iyengar, "anyone can cast fireball teleport." Those are conjuration/evocation spells but you don't have to be a conjurer or evoker. Sometimes I see people think of enchantment wizards as 'wizards who enchant magic items' so maybe we'd put Jayce and Viktor there, but actually enchantment wizards do mind control. And, like I said, commune Viktor is an NPC with a three-phase boss fight. Transmutation wizards are the only wizards who can resurrect without making undead and they do it using their transmuter's stone. Although I'd argue that Viktor's commune members are undead... but anyone can cast the Animate Dead spell. And he's an NPC at that point so his abilities are whatever the DM wants.
** UNLESS you assume the hexcore is Viktor's transmuter's stone (which is how he casts the spells panacea/raise dead that I mentioned). It got corrupted as Viktor created it and when Jayce uses it to cast Raise Dead it goes wrong. (Despite its name the Raise Dead spell is supposed to be a normal, safe resurrection spell AND it cures all nonmagical diseases.) Anyway, we're getting into fanfiction now
*** My problem with the Jayce hexadin class is that it's optimized for charisma. Jayce is very charismatic, but his main characteristic is his smarts. A somewhat popular homebrew is to make warlocks int casters so you could go with that. In that case I might multiclass him with abjuration wizard for the extra tankiness. It's still not as good as the original hexadin multiclass so as a DM i'd allow it. Or just keep paladin, ability-wise you only need it for smites and his charisma should be high anyway. Probably your DM shouldn't allow all three on an int warlock.
On the other hand hexadin Jayce's high charisma makes him well suited for the 'talking down Viktor' mechanism in his third phase bossfight, which ... tracks.
#arcane#arcane headcanon#jayce talis#viktor arcane#mel medarda#vi arcane#caitlyn kiramman#ekko arcane#jayvik#(tagging bc of the additional notes)#long post#this got rambly sorry. and i started giving build tips oops#i'm not tagging jinx because she got like 2 lines. sorry ma'am but it was really straightforward for me#anyway. posts where you can tell OP's favourite characters#'this is heimerdinger erasure' you might say. it's on purpose#inquisitive rogue with a gun... caitlyn kiramman is riz gukgak?#me.txt#anyway ranking multiclasses it's#jayce > caitlyn >> mel > ekko#because the hexadin is top tier powergamer nonsense (although it's less optimal here bc he needs 3 lvls hexblade to use the hammer)#(well. if we assume lvl 14 bc Viktor then we'd have 7 warlock/7 pally which is INCREDIBLE. esp w\ watchers aura + 4th level smites)#i love powergaming and i've played both the jayce and the caitlyn multiclass so. lmao.#also we say that the hexadin multiclass is great because it's 'SAD' and s2 jayce *is* very sad so it fits!#mel and ekko i'm not too sure about. it's got some good synergies#like metamagic for mel. Ekko can get all the defensive wizard spells AND he gets advantage + a bonus to initiative which is amazing#no obvious points of friction either. but the wizard multiclass doesn't add anything to the rogue yknow?#it's there bc we're making Ekko not bc we're making a good rogue#kinda same with Jayce's paladin multiclass but we lucked out and got a very good combo#this might be a better post for reddit but i dont like interacting with fandom on reddit. so...#it is a very reddit post though. not transformative. more analysis. meh
