i helped archive some more music

So, I own a CD entitled "Core Sample '98". It's a compilation of songs from artists based primarily in Brisbane, Aus.

Well I say "in". This is from 1998 as the name suggests, so a lot of these were up-and-coming artists toward the early 2000s. It was a compilation CD aimed to spotlight some of these upcoming acts by Sony Music as a way to help push a few of them into the mainstream. A couple of artists were successful - one of which was Speedstar* which hit the Australian charts a couple times, and another (Messiah) which later renamed themselves as Sunk Loto.

This has been all but lost to time, there's not any copies easily floating around unless you live in Aus, remember this CD and are looking to relisten to it, in which there's a couple going on Discogs. I luckily managed to acquire it a few years ago.

The other day, I stumbled across "Brisbane Music Graveyard" an alt-project ran by 4000 Records, in Australia.

This aims to be a place where artists of this era can reclaim a bit of space, and people can come to remember the music they once heard. It's a really special little thing, and I like it a lot. I'm glad it exists. However I had been listening to this Comp CD, and really enjoyed "Pig 2.1" by Denvar. Great song, so I checked out this self-titled album by them that happened to be on the Brisbane Music Graveyard.

I listened, I enjoyed and I set myself on a mission. I messaged 4000 Records about this CD I owned, to say that it contained lots of artists from this era and location and would they be interested in it.

After a nice email back and forth with a gent who works there, I am glad to say a few of the tracks from this Comp CD I recovered are now available with the rest of the relevant releases on BMG (as hidden tracks).

You should check them out if you get a chance and like some early 2000s Indie Rock!

Shikao Suga

スガ シカオ to japoński piosenkarz, autor tekstów, producent nagrań, osobowość radiowa i aktor pochodzący z Tokyo. Artysta znany jest  z tworzenia muzyki do anime, reklam i filmów. Swoją karierę muzyczną rozpoczął w wieku 27 lat, po przepracowaniu czterech lat w korporacji. Swój pierwszy niezależny singiel "0101" wydał w 1995 roku. Dwa lata później zadebiutował w dużej wytwórni z singlem "Hit Chart Kake Naru Naro". Pierwszy album "Clover", który został wydany we wrześniu 1997 roku, pokazuje, że na jego twórczość wpływają jazz, funk i soul. 

Suga w ciągu swojej długoletniej kariery współpracował z wieloma artystami tworząc z nimi muzyczne projekty. W 1998 roku napisał tekst do utworu "Yozora Nomukou" dla SMAP, który stał się pierwszym milionowym bestsellerem SMAP i sprawił, że nazwisko Suga Shikao stało się dobrze znane w całej Japonii. W sierpniu tego samego roku wyruszył w swoją pierwszą krajową trasę koncertową. W 1999 roku ukazał się singiel "Hoshi no Kakera wo Kakera ni Go Go Again", który stworzył w ramach projektu  "Fukumimi" razem z Kyoko i Masayoshi Yamazaki. W 2006 roku dołączył do "kōkua", specjalnej jednostki programu NHK "Professional Work Style", jako wokalista, autor tekstów i kompozytor, i wydał "Progress". Po raz pierwszy wystąpił na 57. edycji NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, występując pod swoim solowym nazwiskiem.  Również w 2006 roku był częścią grupy wokalistów urodzonych w 1966 roku. Zespół nosił nazwę Roots 66. Podczas pracy w Office Augusta koncertował po całym kraju z zespołem Shikao and the Family Sugar. W rocznicę swojego debiutu, 26 lutego 2023 roku, Suga pojawił się na specjalnym koncercie na żywo, przedstawiając nowy zespół funkowy "Funksaurus".

W październiku 2011 roku ogłosił swoją niezależność od Office Augusta. Pół roku później wydał "Re:you/Kenkuchi", swój pierwszy singiel, który stworzył i wyprodukował samodzielnie, bez kontraktu z wytwórnią płytową lub firmą zarządzającą. Po dwóch latach wznowił karierę muzyczną w SPEEDSTAR RECORDS.

Jeśli chodzi o pisanie piosenek, najczęściej najpierw tworzy muzykę, a teksty pisze po zakończeniu aranżacji. Jest fanem Motoharu Sano jako swojego "idola stylu życia" i wymienia "Young Bloods" i "Shameless Weekend" jako swoje ulubione piosenki. Jest fanem Harukiego Murakamiego i jego książki mają na niego duży wpływ.

"108명의 여자와 섹스 하는 방법"

원제 '108～海馬五郎の復讐と冒険'를 직역하면 '108~ 가이바 고로의 복수와 모험'이다. 감독이 주연 배우를 겸하고, "오 겡끼 데스까"로 유명한 나카야마 미호가 상대역으로 나온다. 제목에서 예상할 수 있듯, 일본 특유의 B급 정서로 만든 병맛 영화다. 군데군데 웃기는 장면이 없지는 않지만, 전체적으론 실망스럽고 거지 같았다. 마누라가 바람 폈다는 의심만으로 자기가 모아 놓은 돈 떨어질 때까지 108명의 매춘 여성과 섹스하겠다는 발상부터가 너무 유치하다.

My ‘sweetest’ Favorite 2019

いよいよ明日。もう明日。 先週くらいから、日曜の���頃はこのバンドの時間だな～とか想像しながら迎えます。

数週間続いたアレスペ出演者紹介もほぼほぼラスト。 僕の最後の出演者紹介は僕が大好きなバンド、TAMTAM。

ここ3年くらいアレグレに出演してもらっていて、いつも素晴らしさに舌を巻かされるバンド。 TAMTAMはホントにいつ見ても良い意味で期待を裏切ってくる。 ダブからネオソウル/DTMまで。バンドのプロフに" フィール・グッドなバンド "との記載があってなるほど、と。この間見た下北ガレージでのライブではHIPHOPの要素も入って以前よりもだいぶヤーマンな感じになっていた(良い意味で)。 好きな曲のアレンジも変化し続けるから見ていてとにかく飽きないし、バンドメンバーが今聞いてる音楽や感じている事を曲に乗せてアウトプットするのがめちゃくちゃ上手くて、いつ見ても新鮮な気持ちで魅入ってしまう。

自分達が良いと思う音楽をバンドやDJの音に落とし込むって結構難しいと思うんですけど、TAMTAMはすごく自然に吸収発散できててすごいなあ、といつも感心してます。メンバーもみんな自然体なキャラ?だし。

ハマったら癖になって抜け出せないTAMTAM沼。僕はどっぷり浸かってしまったんで、明日のアレスペでハマる人がたくさん出てきて欲しい。ズブズブになりましょう。

明日もヤーマンな感じで仕上げて下さいまし!!

TAMTAM 東京を中心に活動するフィール・グッドなバンド。 クロ（Vo,Tp,Syn）、高橋アフィ（Dr,Programming)、ともみん.（Key）、ユースケ（Gt）の4人。1stフルアルバムリリース後、FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL'12 ROOKIE A GO-GOに出演し会場投票1位を獲得。SPEEDSTAR RECORDSから２作リリース後はインディペンデントで活動中。2016年Ｐヴァインよりフルアルバム『NEWPOESY』を発売、リリースライブはソールドアウト。翌2017年に『EASYTRAVELERS mixtape』をカセットテープリリース、最新作は2018年7月発売のフルアルバム『Modernluv』。リードトラックでラッパーのGOODMOODGOKUをfeat.し、リリースパーティ＠渋谷WWWでも共演するなど話題を集めた。 2019年5月にはバンド初のカナダ3都市4公演を果たし、7月にはFUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’19への出演が決定している。

『108～海馬五郎の復讐と冒険～』主題歌解禁！ 星野源「夜のボート」に決定！

この度、「大人計画」の主宰・松尾スズキが監督・脚本・主演を務めた映画『108〜海馬五郎の復讐と冒険〜』（読み方：いちまるはち かいばごろうのふくしゅうとぼうけん）の公開日が10月25日（金）に決定し、併せて、本作の主題歌が決定いたしました。 宮藤官九郎や阿部サダヲなど多才なメンバーと共に、多岐にわたって活動してきた大人計画。主宰の松尾も、昨年には劇団とともに「松尾スズキ」として活動を始めて30周年という節目の年を迎えました。そんな松尾の次なるプロジェクトは自身が初めて監督・脚本・主演すべてを務め、「いいね！の数だけ女を抱いて、妻に復讐する」という前代未聞の＜R18＞問題作。共演には、中山美穂、岩井秀人、秋山菜津子、坂井真紀らベテラン俳優陣と、堀田真由、大東駿介、土居志央梨ら実力派の若手俳優陣 が、それぞれ“強烈で個性豊かな”役柄に挑んでいます。

星野源が11年前に制作した楽曲「夜のボート」が本作の主題歌に決定いたしました！

「夜のボート」は、2008年に松尾スズキ作・演出の舞台「女教師は二度抱かれた」で、出演と全楽曲制作を担当していた星野源が作曲し、市川実和子と歌った劇中歌。松尾スズキ作詞、星野源作曲の「夜のボート」を、今回、映画『108〜海馬五郎の復讐と冒険〜』の主題歌として使用するためオファーを受けた星野源が、新たにレコーディングを行いました。脚本を書き始めた時から「夜のボート」を使用したいと思っていたという松尾。特に主題歌が使われている“衝撃的なあるシーン“には力を入れており、「夜のボート」が流れる様子を想像しながら脚本を書いたといいます。松尾が仕掛ける前代未聞の復讐劇に、大人計画で俳優として活動を共に���てきた星野の主題歌が加わり、映画の中でどのような化学反応を起こしているのか！？大いにご期待ください。なお、「夜のボート」はリリースの予定はなく、本作でしか聞くことができない貴重な楽曲。是非劇場でお楽しみください。

【コメント】 星野源 松尾さんから、11年前に上演された舞台で僕が作った歌を「映画の主題歌にしたい」と連絡を頂きました。このとんでもない 『108』という作品の主題歌にこの哀しい歌を選ぶあたり、松尾スズキ！って感じがしてとても好きです。

【ストーリー】 名脚本家として成功している海馬五郎は、ある日、元女優の妻・綾子の浮気をSNSの投稿によって知ってしまう。コンテンポラリーダンサーである“ドクタースネーク”という男への熱い恋心を綴ったその投稿を見て、わめき散らす海馬は、あまりのショックに離婚を考える。しかし、離婚時���財産分与で資産の半分を支払わなければならないことを知りさらに大激怒。妻の”不貞”に支払わなくてはならない1000万円を、自らの”不貞”で使い切ることで復讐を決意した海馬。妻のSNSに投稿した写真についた108もの“いいね！”の数だけ女を抱く、煩悩丸出し、前代未聞の復讐劇が幕をあけるー。
