STOP KOSA!! Don't Scroll/Ignore this Message!!
I don't talk about politics that much, but please, PLEASE take a moment to sign this petition to stop the KOSA bill going on these days!
If you know KOSA, (you probably do) it's basically a bill introduced last year determined to "protect" children in social media. What the govt. DOESN'T know is that they're REALLY going to CENSOR THE ENTIRE INTERNET AND FANDOMS we've known and loved for years...unless we stop them from doing it (so far, over 18 million people in many organizations are rising to stop this bill, according to stopkosa.org!)
Take a moment to sign this petition below:
Here are some other links I went/contributed to stop KOSA. It's easy; you can email/call your state senators about why they should vote NO for KOSA. YOU should do the same!!
Shout-out to my follower VioletRose-Art for talking about and reblogging this whole situation for months now; The internet, our creations, our ENTIRE WORK put into our favorite fandoms will not, I repeat, WILL NOT be silenced. All I've got to say is, the govt. has gone too far into VIOLATING our first amendment in the FUDGIN' BILL OF RIGHTS (right to freedom of speech) and hurting lots of children (and even adults!) because of this bill.
So please, JUST STOP STANDING THERE AND THINKING THAT IT'S ALL OVER FOR YOU and VOTE NO TO KOSA in the links I've shared. We need you...WE ALL NEED YOU. The future of the Internet and fandoms is in our hands.
Reblog to spread the word! Much appreciated!!

Stop the take it down act
While many censorship bills are trying to be passed, the Take It Down act is one that we should be making much noise about alongside KOSA. Unfortunately it’s already passed senate but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep calling. And reblogging and saying “boost” while that spreads awareness across Tumblr, it in my opinion doesn’t do much else. If we really want to try to keep the internet and our first amendment we have to continue to fight and call. While things look scary at this time given circumstances, I urge you not to give up and keep calling.
the Take It Down Act as stated in this article is require platforms to remove nonconsensually distributed intimate imagery (NDII) within 48 hours of notice by a user, but provides no exception for encrypted private messages.  This means companies would be required to abandon end-to-end encryption so they can read and moderate your DMs. The bill also has no safeguards against false reports being used to remove protected and already censored speech.
we should be making as much noise for the take it down act as we do for KOSA and the more we sit around and do nothing that’s when we are all in trouble.

Today I managed to reach a real live human being at Senator Butler's office to register my concerns about KOSA. I went through my concerns that this bill would be used by red state AGs to silence queer people online. But then I did something that seemed to make an impression.
I got a bit more personal, and said that as a transgender person I am actually scared that this will drive me off the internet and cut me off from my community.
I also said that my friends have trans kids, who depend on the internet for support. And I'm legit worried what'll happen to them.
I think that talking about my personal worries for this bill really helped drive my message home. I got a somewhat warmer response than in the past when I've called.
I've said this before, but my guess is that if this bill passes, it will be similar to what happened with sesta-fosta.
Platforms will either ban content that might be challenged, or merely shadowban it.
There is a lot of fear-mongering right now about algorithms recommending harmful content to kids. In response, platforms may do the opposite: set up algorithms to ensure that nobody sees content that Republicans don't like.

SAVE SECTION 230
CALL YOUR HOUSE REPS AND SAVE SECTION 230 AND STOP THE TAKE DOWN ACT
I know the past few months have been hard on all of us but a greater threat approaches. major gov leader dick durben wants to sunset section 230 and pass a bill called the TAKE DOWN act, both bills have the capacity to give the trump administration complete control the internet.
Sunset 230 is a protection from lawsuits made if you make a third party we sit that isn’t connected to major sites, while the first amendment protects your free speech section 230 would prevent lawsuits by gov figures. If section 230 is gone you would be silenced not by the lack of 1st amendment protections but by the extreme financial gutting you have to deal with those law suits.
By destroy section 230 it would result in less moderation and world wide censorship
The TAKE DOWN ACT will double down on this move as that bill removes end to end encryption so the government can just read your DM’s there is also no protection from false reports that can be used to remove sex Ed, LGBTQ+ content, and reproductive healthcare resources. This level of censorship results in trump silencing his critics as well as the rest of the world as well as just straight up 1984 type nonsense! The worst part is that it passed the senate ALREADY!
So after learning all that how can you stop it….
CALL HOUSE REPS FOR THE TAKE DOWN ACT ANDTO SAVE SECTION 230

Non-Profit Bill - Spread the word
In case you missed it, the “nonprofit killer bill”—which would give the executive branch unprecedented control to revoke nonprofit’s tax status and kill off any organization they don’t agree with— is back.1 And this time, it’s wrapped into a budget bill, which is moving quickly.
I’ll go over the details in a second, but we are moving quickly to stop this bill so that countless organizations that run food banks, provide disaster relief, and fight for your rights aren’t shut down. Can you chip in right now to fuel this rapid response campaign?
HELP STOP THE NONPROFIT KILLER BILL
Okay, let me get you up to speed:
You might remember in November when Congress was trying to pass HR 9495, the original version of this bill. If passed, this bill would let the Trump administration (as well as future presidential administrations) designate any nonprofit as “terrorist affiliated,” and strip them of their tax-exempt status (aka their 501(c)3 status, for the tax nerds out there) with no justification or due process.2
TAKE ACTION NOW: Complete CAIR's Action Alert and demand Congress remove this provision
Now, the same bill text is attached to a budget reconciliation package that’s moving rapidly through House committees and could get a floor vote by Memorial Day.3 We rallied so much opposition to the bill last time around that this budget process is the best chance proponents have for passing it. That means it’s also our best chance to kill it, maybe even for good. We have to seize this opportunity urgently, and we can’t do it without you. If you can chip in right now, in any amount, please do.
DONATE NOW
It’s not hard to see where this would go: Trump has already been going after activists, foundations, universities, and government officials and agencies that don’t agree with him.4 If this bill passes, it would allow him to target nonprofits with impunity. And the end result would be people who rely on these groups for support and community resources would suffer.
As soon as we found out this bill was included in a must-pass budget package, we jumped to action. In less than 24 hours we got a helpful call tool set up, drove over 700 calls to key Congressional offices, and got our take out to news outlets so they could help raise awareness.5,6,7
But we need to do more. Your support will help:
Drive thousands more calls into lawmakers offices. The last time we did this, we overloaded the Congressional phone lines. We need to do it again. We’ve got a great call tool that connects people to their lawmakers and tells them what to say, but each call costs money and it adds up.
Get celebrities and influencers to raise the alarm. We’ve got a plan to engage folks with big audiences to help reach more people, and get them to take more actions.
Pressure lawmakers directly. Our very small but mighty team in DC is already talking to Congressional staffers and figuring out where we can put pressure to influence votes and amend the budget bill to remove the nonprofit killer bill. This kind of pressure, paired with grassroots outreach, is what we know will help us win.
Everything we’re able to do is thanks to your support. Your donations allow us to quickly jump to action, respond quickly when we get breaking intel, and reach millions of people who care about the future of their favorite local nonprofits. Please donate now.
We really think we’ve got a fighting chance to kill this terrible bill. We did it once before, and we’re ready to do it again.

Welcome back to yet another episode of "them having things to say about KOSA"
God forbid KOSA passes, but IF IT DOES, I hope other countries either find a way to circumvent it, OR urge the US to take it back once they realize what a GROSS overstep of boundaries it is.
Either one would be amazing, BOTH would be incredible.
I repeat for the second time: The AMERICAN government is trying to make EVERYONE, including people in OTHER COUNTRIES- adhere to this mass internet censorship law on the WORLD WIDE WEB, that EVERYONE ACROSS THE WORLD USES, under the guise of "ThInK Of thE aMeRiCaN ChIlDrEN!!!!!"
LIKE THATS SO STUPID??? The fact that they're trying to sneak this past us while other horrific things are happening is EQUALLY disgusting. This should be world news. Everybody should be FURIOUS that the Senate is even humoring this.
If KOSA passes and people in other countries start being affected, I hope governments across the world absolutely PUMMEL the US (not through war in case anybody tries to take this out of context, I mean verbally). Call a United Nations meeting or something and absolutely CRACK DOWN.
DESTROY THEM.
Call out every crappy single thing this country has done and use it as leverage against them. Pull out all the stops. Roast them if you want to. Rightfully charge them with the crimes they've committed. Hold them accountable. Literally ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.
Let them know NO peace.
God knows the majority of Americans will be cheering y'all on.
The American government is on a serious power trip. They think that they can do whatever they want with no consequences because they're a world power. The rest of the world can fight back, speak up, and show them that
they.
are.
WRONG.

One out of two California senators has responded back to me when I reached out about voting no on the KOSA bill
Anyone in California, please tell senator Alex Padilla and senator Laphonza Butler to vote NO on the KOSA bill.
Here is a link to their websites where you can click on the contact option and write to them:
https://www.butler.senate.gov
https://www.padilla.senate.gov
Tell them to vote NO son the KOSA bill!! As an advocate of Palestine and an LGBTQ person. This bill is an invasion of privacy and the only way it will not pass is if we speak up on it. I am so scared for this bill but we need to shut it down as soon as possible.

When I meet KOSA supporters who claim to be “protecting the children,” I have to ask: Which children are we talking about? Because the children I know, the teenagers who email me every day with worries about KOSA, they live in fear of the future KOSA would create.

new york city is a shit show right now and not because of the students peacefully protesting. i’m so sick of fucking cops. research the history of the police force in america. tear-gassing students and snipers on rooftops. we all know this will escalate. it’s just when. it’s ironic, when you grow up with school shootings and no gun laws you become pretty desensitized. if the government thinks a shooting will scare people then they’re just plain stupid. ivy league students being shot at on the grounds of campus. all i can think about is the kent state massacre. everyone attending protests please be safe and mask up!!! those not attending, if you can, drop off food and water to protestors fighting for our rights. you don’t need to be palestinian to care about the genocide in gaza, you just need to be human. they don’t just want to ban tiktok because of the mass spread of unregulated information. they want to ban tiktok because of the mass spread of empathy. billions of videos depicting the human experience. i have cried so many tears and laughed until my stomach hurt all for strangers i’ll never meet. when we care about each other more than we care about the dollars in our pockets it scares them. it scares them because they feed and live off of human suffering and exploitation. they’ve manipulated our minds so much we believe we are dependent on them when really they are dependent on us. they’ve divided us so much we’ve forgotten what it’s like to love each other. they’ve allowed so much violence and so much hatred that it’s become all we know. but a heart full of empathy and love will always want to share that love. that’s what they fear. capitalism is just a circle jerk of who has the deepest pockets and billionaires can’t exist without the exploitation of the working class. calculate how many hours you’d need to work earning minimum wage in order to be a billionaire. look up the recent layoffs of thousands of hiring recruiters across the country. research the nationwide implementation of AI that accepts your résumé based on buzzwords and not actual experience. did i mention homelessness is illegal and i’m pretty sure social security is like gone now? How many hours would it take to be billionaire?

COPPA 2 Bill - Spread the word
Heads up: COPPA 2 IS HAVING A COMMITTEE MEETING ON WEDNESDAY.
The original Coppa, passed in 1998, basically prevents targeted advertising on kids under 13. Then, a lawsuit in 2012 accused Youtube of violating that rule. which end up fucking over a lot of creators and now everyone has to work around the demonetization thing. now this COPPA 2 bill would extend that rule to 17 year olds. i dont know what will become youtube and other websites but i don't imagine it will be good
i don't know much about the COPPA 2 bill aside from seeing it from another Tumblr user's post about it. But knowing how internet bills tend to go in Congress, it may or may not pass or not, and if the senate really wants to vote on this, it has 18 co-sponsors and big things are distracting the senate right now, but I wanted to keep everyone up to date by spreading the word about it let people be aware of it.
I can't find any real big concerns about this bill, not even from fight for the future, who said they were "neutral" about it last year. Still, I recommend adding this to your list of things to call your senators about it, especially ones on the committee.
The bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/senate-bill/836/text
The meeting: https://www.commerce.senate.gov/2025/6/executive-session-12
The committee members: https://www.commerce.senate.gov/members
Also there is a petition about it.: https://chng.it/dNsrppppQY

Hey we only got one day left until KOSA possibly passes and with it we'll possibly lose contact with each other from lack of online privacy. So I just wanted to say thank you to all the people who I've met online through the years, especially those I've come to become great friends with. I love you, I'll fucking miss you.
