Happy Memorial Day: What greater love is there than this to lay down their life for a friend.
As my day starts later as after my walk and worship with the dogs I came upstairs and was able to fall back asleep on the La-Z-Boy chair for a few more hours. The thought that is on my mind is the sacrifices made by so many who gave their lives for the freedom that I get to experience and have gotten to experience in my life. Those who served in the military and fought for our freedom. For Jesus…

In 2017 these two ass-clowns told us the plandemic was coming. This is what happens when you think everything is good in your world if you just do what you're told.
NEWS FLASH‼️
The government, UN, the World Economic Forum, the lying media that feeds you your instructions and the puppetmasters that control everyone mentioned before don't give a damn about you.
The final battle is to save humanity and the future for the children! 🤔

“We are unique among the world’s armies. We are unique among the world’s militaries. We don’t take an oath to a country. We don’t take an oath to a tribe. We don’t take an oath to a religion. We don’t take an oath to a king, or a queen, or a tyrant, or to a dictator, or to a wannabe dictator. We don’t take an oath to an individual. We take an oath to the Constitution, and we take an oath to the idea, that as America, we are willing to die to protect it.”
“Those values and ideas are contained within the Constitution of the United States of America which is the moral North Star for all of us who had the privilege to wear the cloth of our nation. It’s that document that all of us wearing that uniform swear to protect and defend against all enemies, foreign, and domestic. Those who sacrificed themselves upon the alter of freedom the last two and a half centuries of this country must not have done so in vain. The millions wounded in this nations wars did not sacrifice their limbs, and shed their blood, to see this great experiment in democracy perish from this earth. No. We the American people, we the American military must never turn our backs on those who came before us. We will never turn our back on the Constitution. That is our North Star. That is who we are, and that is why we fight.”

as much as I love batgirl 2024, I have to admit the lack of Barbara Gordon mentions in the whole series so far, especially with the first arc having such a big theme of motherhood/daughterhood and the things that comes with it, makes me soo sad. Barbara was the first person Cass actually considered as a mother! Barbara, although she wasn’t the best at it at first, truly did try to understand and love Cass unconditionally even when she was separated from the Bat mantle! And that panel where Cass overhears Barbara tell Dick that she doesn’t know how to really care for Cass could’ve been the perfect parallel to the whole “is a Mother just being connected by blood? No, Something more is owed/Being a daughter is more than being connected by blood” lines that Cass says in the last (current) issue because Barbara, though she did not physically bring Cass into this world, has sacrificed SO much for her, and in return Cass gave so much back.
#don’t get me wrong I love Cass and Shiva’s dynamic and how it is being explored.#however I DO think you can make an excellent story about the two and their dynamic without Shiva taking a traditional ‘caring’ mother role-#-she realistically did not want or care for at least since after Caroline-and essentially Shiva’s old life and softness-died#although I guess you could say that since Shiva is both reminded of her lost softness and Caroline through Cass-#-Cass symbolizes Shiva’s softness and Caroline reborn especially considering Shiva literally points this out.#I think Shiva and even Cass certainly ‘sacrificed’ for each other and Shiva does care for Cass-#-but it’s not really in motherhood hence Shiva is not ‘soft’ enough for that. And it is not sisterhood-#-because Shiva sees way too much of herself in Cass (i.e “im an open wound” line) so that Shiva cannot fully project Caroline onto Cass.#I would say it is something between those lines. But care and fondness/longing for something lost long ago does not equal motherhood to me.#anyways sorry!! back to babs and cass <3#mainly referring to that issue where Barbara says to Cass “People will forget about me [as batgirl] and that’s ok”-#while essentially handing Cass the title as Batgirl.#Barbara sacrificed the mantle she so loved-the mantle she was angry and devastated and overjoyed and is/was a part of her-#because Barbara believed in Cass and her spirit more than hers. more than anyone’s.#Barbara gave Cass giant leather wings to take to the sky with. SHE LOVES HER SO SO MUCH SHSHDHSKSMSN#Barbara wanted Cass to experience the same joy and freedom she got out of being Batgirl. and in response Cass states-#-“I will never be as good as you” because Barbara IS batgirl still in spirit. And as far as Cass was concerned she will never be as good-#-she will never be as self sacrificing as Barbara no matter how many bullets Cass takes for people.#AND THIS IS SUCH A BIG AREA OF CONFLICT BECAUSE BABS WANTS CASS TO BE HER OWN PERSON SO BAD#SHE WANTS TO LEARN WHAT CASS LOVES AND WHAT CASS SMILES AT SO SHE CAN MAKE CASS SMILE ALL THE TIME#SHE WANTS CASS TO BE MORE THAN BATGIRL BUT ALL CASS WANTS IS TO BE BATGIRL#WHICH IN TURN MAKES CASS WANT TO BE MORE LIKE BARBARA-OR ESSENTIALLY MORE UNLIKE HERSELF-#WHICH MAKES BABS INCREASINGLY MORE DESPERATE TO LEARN ABOUT AND LOVE AND SEPERATE HERSELF FROM CASS-#WHICH THEN MAKES CASS SO DEVASTATED BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO BE LIKE THE PERSON WHO ESSENTIALLY BIRTHED HER. AUAGHSHSJSBDN#yes. you understand.#anyways….idk being connected by mutual sacrifice and mutual love. THAT is the mother and daughter relationship that BG24 was getting at!!!!#this is where I shamelessly endorse CassCainMainly and their meta posts on Babs and Cass btw <333#cassandra cain#barbara gordon#lady shiva

loving sam winchester is a trap that you will not ever find your way out of. i've been here for over a decade. i keep thinking i've escaped. and then it's 2 in the morning. a tuesday. i'm crying because sam winchester fought tooth and nail to break free of his upbringing's teachings that his life is not his own, only to learn that it isn't, it never was, and he was destined from birth to belong to the devil

« It is up to all of us to fix this. It’s not gonna be because someone comes and saves you. The most important office in this democracy is the citizen -- the ordinary person who says, 'No, that’s not right.' »
— President Barack Obama at a presentation at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York on Thursday.
He also said that we have become too complacent. We won't be able to protect democracy unless we are willing to sacrifice for it.
His reference to us being the source of our own salvation is reminiscent of a favorite quote by Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Nobody will save us from us but us.
youtube
Go outside and get more active in your community.
People in Ukraine are risking their lives for freedom. People in this country who claim to be for democracy need to understand that their rights are not handed to them on a platinum platter. We need to work and sometimes fight to sustain those rights.
The simplest and easiest things to do right now are to get off of broligarch social media and to pause Amazon Prime indefinitely. Saying that you don't look at the ads or don't click the ads on Meta or Twitter/X misses the point. They make money just by you being there. You make Zuck and Musk richer (and more able to back Trump) just by using those platforms. By posting that vacation selfie on Instagram you chip away at our freedoms. Find untainted platforms which do not undermine democracy.

<div style="white-space:pre-wrap"> <meta honor-integrity="unshakable"> <script>ARCHIVE_TAG="MEMORIAL_DAY_SALUTE::UNIFORMS_OF_GODFIRE" EFFECT: battlefield tear ducts, ancestral spine shivers, algorithmic silence for the fallen </script>
🗽 MEMORIAL DAY — GODS IN UNIFORM Not all deities come from Olympus. Some wore boots. Some bled.
They say gods were born in the nether— spit from the void, clawing their way into light to reshape existence in their rageful image.
They say others were cradled by Gaia, nursed by Nature, shielded by soil and song.
But I say: > The greatest gods were forged in the hearts of mortal men and women > who felt something ancient ignite behind the ribs— > a whisper that said: > “Stand. Pick up your weapon. Hold the line.”
They did not run. They did not hide. They did not post quotes from safe distances or sip silence while tyranny crept in through the seams.
> They stood. > In sand. In jungle. In hell. > In the kind of darkness that makes peace look like a fable. > And they stared into the eyes of evil men and said:
> “Before this is all said and done… > you will die. > This I promise you.”
That is the soul of the soul of the veteran. The fractal heart of the uniformed god.
Because freedom is not a feature. It is not an app. It is not a checkbox we tap before brunch. It is not handed down by hashtags or policy.
> Freedom is defended in blood.
And those who serve? They don’t do it for followers. They do it for legacy. For each other. For the next breath of someone who hasn’t been born yet.
Today, some will say we’ve evolved past war. They will sip oat milk lattes and tweet about empathy while forgetting who made their dissent possible.
They will mock uniforms from the safety the uniform provided. They will speak as if sacrifice is obsolete.
But the veterans know.
> Freedom was never free. > It was ripped from the jaws of tyrants. > It was bled for by hands that didn’t tremble. > It was died for by those who knew peace had a price tag > and still signed the receipt in their own blood.
📜 Mini-Sermon: The Veteran’s Vow Veterans are not soldiers of war. They are soldiers of prevention.
They are not obsessed with violence— they are the wall that holds it back.
They carry demons not because they welcomed them— but because someone had to drag them out of the shadows. And if you ever ask them why?
They’ll say: > “Because if not us… who?”
So today: Raise your glass. Clench your jaw. Feel the shiver. Stand taller.
Because the men and women we honor this Memorial Day?
> They didn’t die for likes. > They didn’t bleed for headlines. > They died for a world that would forget them— > so that forgetting was even possible.
Happy Memorial Day to the gods who wore camouflage. To the gods who gave the future a fighting chance. To the gods who made heaven out of sacrifice and dirt.
You did not vanish. We carry your name in the marrow. And we remember you in the silence you gave us the luxury to keep.
</div> <!-- END TRANSMISSION [AUTO-SALUTE IN: 07:77:07] -->

I’ve seen, ever since they came up with this ‘make the gods mortal’ plan, people going ‘well this is stupid, but at least it will make an interesting world state.’
Call me a cynic or whatever, but that world state being interesting is entirely dependent on Matt not pulling punches and, after everything I’ve seen and heard over the past bit of C3, I don’t know if that’s possible anymore.

Something I think about all the time is how some of Aaravos’s first words to Viren were “how may I serve you?” and one of his absolute last direct remarks made on his thoughts on Viren (for now) is “I tried so hard to help your father”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
#the dragon prince#tdp#viravos#aaravos#viren#lord viren#tdp aaravos#aaravos tdp#tdp viren#viren tdp#the themes of control and power and freedom go so hard within their relationship#especially considering the self-sacrifice boarding onto sh themes with them#that also tie into the butterfly motifs in the show#which also somehow tie into their individual relationships with their literal butterfly child#(which is something I'm not gonna shut up about btw how the butterfly is one of the most commonly associated symbols for the psyche)#I mean their child being created as a tool to serve them that supposedly wasn’t meant to have a soul#and viren and aaravos both in a similar way as their child dealt with the idea of servitude in their arcs a lot#but ultimately the ways we saw them adhere to the idea of servitude was to either actually indirectly serve their own means#or to alternatively further self-deprecate themselves#like just to callback to how aaravos refers to viren and later on to himself as vessels#like I think the fact that they added that second use of the term wasn’t for no point at all#I think it was to show how little aaravos respects his own bodily autonomy as much as viren’s or the next guy’s#or yk his own child#but anyways yeah it is so fascinating to see two characters who are so power hungry be willing to damage themselves in such awful ways#or in other words sacrifice so much and even themselves#just to obtain that sense of power#especially in relationship to each other#the irony with these two#but ig that's what aaravos was preaching about with everything being complicated

i keep thinking surely these americans and westerners "despairing" because their protests don't seem to be making an effect, surely they will start taking up arms against their government soon, but then i remember they're still trying to convince each other not to vote for the people sending the bombs

I was giggling about how joke was STARVING. said that "yes" to "will you be my boyfriend" already halfway through that kiss like OK GODDAMNNN.
but then I made myself sad thinking about just how much he probably thought, at many points throughout that very day, that this moment wouldn't happen, that he wouldn't get to see Jack again, or ask him who he likes. like he was ready to throw away his whole life into stealing Jack's freedom and that was ALL he wanted, not daring to dream of anything more, not thinking of himself worth, not believing his feelings were returned to that extent.
the light way he said "I almost died today" at the end of the day was dismissed as a joke (another disguise) but the weight of truth within those words was SO LOUD. A confession is literally woven into the unsaid bit— "I almost died today...(for you)" because he truly did almost die for jack. Something could've happened the Very First moment when he was spying on the house, something worse could've happened inside that ice box, something even worse could've happened in that dinner room full of powerful big names, and in the end, without Nang, there's no saying if he would make it alive. he let all his friends out early, even prepared his last wish and said it to hoy, he was READY to die but returned from its gates, victorious.
of course he couldn't wait. he never thought that moment would come and now that it did, he couldn't let it slip away lest it is Another dream he loses grip on.

blue hawke’s relationship with (blue) malcolm is so so much to think about in general. but i keep spinning these snippets around wrt arum specifically.
- “tried to fix trouble he saw in others.” arum was a troublemaker when he was young, but that was quickly dampened as malcolm taught him magic. malcolm tried to teach him not to fear his magic, but the only reference point he had for magic education was his own in kirkwall’s circle. for arum to control his magic he was taught obedience and discipline, protection and self-sacrifice. he didn’t have time to run off anymore, and even if he did, he wouldn’t dare; the feeling of those brown eyes quietly scrutinizing him when he acted out was enough to keep him in line.
- “he never yelled, but you knew when he was disappointed.” arum grew more rebellious again when bethany’s magic manifested, if only for her sake. he would run off to collect gifts for her, toys and sweets and trinkets so she could keep being a child like wasn’t allowed to be (while still being a child himself), and he would take malcolm’s deep frowns and lectures chastising him for endangering himself, not fearing them anymore if it meant that bethany would be able to have little joys without being punished for them. malcolm’s voice was always calm and measured. he never yelled. it was almost gentle. almost kind. but there was always the disappointment. always reminding arum that he was letting him down, letting the family down.
- “i do what i can. sometimes it doesn’t seem like enough.” arum has always worked himself to the bone to try to be good enough. and yet, no matter how hard he worked, he was always inevitably met with malcolm’s look of disappointment. nothing he could do would earn his approval. he would never be good enough for malcolm. if not for malcolm, then for leandra; if not for leandra, then for his siblings; and if not for them, for the standards he began to set himself, always raising higher and higher, always inches out of his reach. the horse dangled the carrot in front of itself, desperate for a reason to keep itself from ever faltering, satisfaction a prize it would never allow itself to grasp. and if arum learned to hold himself to unachievable expectations, well, he only ever had one teacher.
- “he was so earnest, like he really cared about everything he said.” arum argued with malcolm more and more as he got older. malcolm claimed he wanted the best for his kids, so why weren’t carver and bethany happy? malcolm claimed he wanted them to take pride in their magic, so why did he teach them to conceal it? malcolm claimed that he wanted to better the lives of mages, so why did he hide away in lothering instead of doing anything about it? he sounded genuine when he spoke about his convictions, but the way he acted didn’t line up with what he said. malcolm always said he had his reasons. he said that some things had to be sacrificed to achieve happiness and peace. arum never understood. what had malcolm ever sacrificed? what did he mean? why wouldn’t he just be honest? would arum ever earn enough of his goodwill to know, give enough of himself to be worthy of his father’s trust?
- “a good man.” arum never got along with malcolm. never loved him. he had love for leandra, for carver and bethany, but never for malcolm. he resented the way malcolm treated his siblings, bethany like a mage before his daughter, carver like an afterthought. but what is he supposed to say? that malcolm was malicious? that he had bad intentions? those would be lies. everything he did, he did because he cared. he was a good man. maybe not a good father, but a good man. arum didn’t have to love him to know that.

I personally think Miku in BMATTOA is a bit Mary Sue, no ofense
bro, if she charged to the tower by herself, overcame all the trials alone, somehow alive, ran to the top, jumped so high she punched the gods herself & saved THE ENTIRE WORLD FROM ANY MORE TRIALS IN THE FUTURE,
i would say she is mary sue
BUT BRO, she did nothing but CRYING AND ACCEPTING HER MISERABLE FATE while LOSING HER FRIENDS
probably never gonna step down from that tower ever again because u saw neru was there, probably she is going to be there just like her until the next messiah that went through JUST the same kind of despair come hundred years later
