1 Corinthians 12:12-26 (NIV). [12] “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. [13] For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. [14] Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. [15] Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. [16] And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. [17] If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? [18] But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. [19] If they were all one part, where would the body be? [20] As it is, there are many parts, but one body. [21] The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” [22] On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, [23] and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, [24] while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, [25] so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. [26] If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”
Matthew 5:16 (NIV). “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
“How to Serve the Body of Christ” by In Touch Ministries:
“Our kindness to others can start a chain reaction that impacts many for Christ.”
“When we talk about serving the church with talents and gifts, what comes to mind—a choir singer? Sunday school teacher? The truth is, there are many different ways to use our talents.
Church isn’t a “Sunday only” establishment. It’s not simply a place and time; it is a body of believers, each one gifted by God to guide, help, and support the rest. In fact, service to the Lord doesn’t have to take place within church. It can happen out in the world as well (Matthew 5:16).
The majority of believers aren’t in a position to influence large crowds. When we act or speak, it’s usually only those closest to us who notice, but a chain reaction ripples outward to affect others. Paul’s metaphor of body parts working together is a helpful description of how one small action can have widespread impact (1 Cor. 12:15-21). Consider the way your big toe keeps your foot stable, thereby steadying your whole body. In the same way, a gentle rebuke, a listening ear, or a loving deed benefits the church by strengthening someone, who then supports another …
We are on this earth to serve God’s kingdom and His church. And we do that by ministering to each other in small ways that steady the whole body as we give extra support to one member. This week, look for a need that God can meet through you.”

The world says to look out for yourself first, Christ says to look out for others above yourself.
As followers of Christ, we must out others above ourselves, just like Jesus did for us. He not only died for us, but also taught for us, reformed miracles for us, and inspired his word for us. Everything he did on Earth was for those around him, and for us today.
In order to be imitators of Christ, we must also live in a similar manner. Obviously, this doesn’t mean adding to the Bible, or what have you, but it does mean that everything we do must be for those around us.
Instead of finding joy in possessions, sex, money, or anything of that sort, we must find joy in serving each other. The more we do so, the more joy we will find. This is due to this being a form of drawing near to Christ. The more we draw near him, the more we feel him drawing near to us, and as a result, we begin to experience the joy of being in his presence.
Serving others is a form of worship to God. It’s how we not only keep the faith, but live it. It’s how we draw closer to God on a daily basis, and reveal himself in us.
1 Thessalonians 5:14-18, “And we urge you, brothers, admonish the file, encourage the faint hearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ a Jesus for you”.
It’s when we serve others that we become more a part of the body of Christ, and begin to shine brighter to a world of darkness.
God bless, Jesus loves you ✝️❤️

What Does "Being Somebody" Mean to You?
1 Peter 2:5: You come to Him as living stones, a spiritual house that is being built into a holy priesthood. So offer spiritual sacrifices that God accepts through Jesus Christ. (GW) When I was in sixth grade, we were asked to do a class project where we all had to talk about our futures: where we aspired to be by the time we turned thirty (wow, if I even had a clue). Almost all of us talked…

Serving Others at
The Stove and Table
“Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, and on the way he took the Twelve to one side and said to them, ‘Now we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man is about to be handed over to the chief priests and scribes.
They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the pagans to be mocked and scourged and crucified; and on the third day he will rise again.’
Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came with her sons to make a request of him, and bowed low; and he said to her, ‘What is it you want?’
She said to him, ‘Promise that these two sons of mine may sit one at your right hand and the other at your left in your kingdom.’ ‘
You do not know what you are asking’ Jesus answered. ‘Can you drink the cup that I am going to drink?’
They replied, ‘We can.’
‘Very well,’ he said ‘you shall drink my cup, but as for seats at my right hand and my left, these are not mine to grant; they belong to those to whom they have been allotted by my Father.’
When the other ten heard this they were indignant with the two brothers.
But Jesus called them to him and said, ‘You know that among the pagans the rulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt. This is not to happen among you. No; anyone who wants to be great among you must be your servant, and anyone who wants to be first among you must be your slave, just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’
********
In an esoteric culinary perspective, this passage can be interpreted as a symbolic feast of teachings and lessons.
Jesus preparing to ascend to Jerusalem can be seen as the chef leading his disciples towards a grand culinary creation, with each ingredient representing a significant element of the journey ahead.
The mention of the Son of Man being handed over and condemned to death could symbolize the sacrifice and transformation required in the process of creating something truly remarkable.
The request made by the mother of Zebedee's sons for her sons to sit at Jesus' right and left hand in his kingdom may be likened to the quest for recognition and privilege in the culinary world.
Jesus' response, questioning if they can drink from his cup, could represent the challenges and sacrifices that come with seeking such high positions in the culinary realm.
The lesson on servant leadership that Jesus imparts to his disciples can be seen as a reminder that true greatness in the culinary world comes not from holding positions of power, but from humbly serving and nourishing others.
Just as Jesus came to serve and give his life as a ransom, chefs are called to serve through their craft and creations, enriching the lives of others through their culinary talents.

HUMILITY OPENS DOORS (lack of shuts them)
The subject I am about to present for your consideration is not talked about enough. Oh, we know it by mention or word, but to have it, within the self & let it guide one in their journey does not occur to the many. Interesting however that when you spot a person living out the humility coming from them, with little or no effort, it captures you in ways you are not used to seeing. Why is that I…

Helping Others, Even on Her Birthday
The quilt we gave our grandson for his high school graduation. Photo by Bruce Stambaugh Today is my wife’s birthday. How is she celebrating? By doing what she does every day: helping others. Whether it’s her birthday or not, she spends the better part of nearly every Tuesday volunteering at a local thrift store. She runs the cash register, sorts clothing and knick-knacks, and answers customers’…

Happy Memorial Day: What greater love is there than this to lay down their life for a friend.
As my day starts later as after my walk and worship with the dogs I came upstairs and was able to fall back asleep on the La-Z-Boy chair for a few more hours. The thought that is on my mind is the sacrifices made by so many who gave their lives for the freedom that I get to experience and have gotten to experience in my life. Those who served in the military and fought for our freedom. For Jesus…

Beyond Ourselves: The Joy and Impact of Serving Others
The Sacred Calling of Serving Others in Christ’s Name – Have you ever experienced the quiet joy of helping someone without expecting anything in return? Perhaps it was a simple act of listening to a friend in distress, volunteering at a soup kitchen, or offering a word of encouragement at just the right moment. These moments remind us that serving others is not just a duty but a divine invitation…

‭‭Romans 12:1-8 (NASB2020‬‬). “Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
For just as we have many parts in one body and all the body’s parts do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually parts of one another.
However, since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them properly: if prophecy, in proportion to one’s faith; if service, in the act of serving; or the one who teaches, in the act of teaching; or the one who exhorts, in the work of exhortation; the one who gives, with generosity; the one who is in leadership, with diligence; the one who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.”
“The Act of Serving” by In Touch Ministries:
“If you want to serve others but don't know how, just listen to the Holy Spirit's gentle prompts.”
“Spiritual gifts assessments are popular for good reason—learning about ourselves is interesting, especially when it comes to our role in the church. In today’s passage, however, Paul says we shouldn’t just know our gifts; we must “use them properly” (v. 6, emphasis added). So let’s spend the next four days looking at a few that he mentions, beginning with service.
The apostle, whose writing can be somewhat verbose, tells us the proper way to serve is “in the act of serving” (v. 7). That may not seem like much to go on, but there’s a beauty in the precision of his statement. He’s saying there aren’t fancy rules to abide by when helping others—the proper way to serve is simply to serve.
The Greek term Paul uses to mean “service” offers some clarity. At its most basic level, diakonia (from which we get the word “deacon”) means “waiting tables.” It refers to the idea of “active service, done with a willing attitude.” Furthermore, New Testament writers often use it in conjunction with the Greek term pístis (see v. 6), which means “faith, trust, or confidence.”
What does this mean for us? We’re to help willingly and in faith, knowing the Holy Spirit empowers us. He will tell us what must be done and how. All we need to do is follow His lead and pitch in whenever and wherever we’re called. It’s as simple as that!”

The text emphasizes that genuine faith is demonstrated through actions, referencing James' teaching that faith without works is dead. While salvation is by grace through faith alone, true faith must manifest in good deeds. Examples of Abraham and Rahab illustrate this principle, reinforcing the need for faith to be active and transformative.

Job 29:1-25 | Job Remembers His Former Blessings
The Verses “Then Job again took up his discourse and said,‘Oh that I were as in months gone by,As in the days when God watched over me,When His lamp shone over my head,And by His light I walked through darkness;Just as I was in the days of my youth,When the protection of God was over my tent; When the Almighty was still with me,And my children were around me;When my steps were bathed in…

The Journey from Pride to Humility
“Nobody stands taller than those willing to stand corrected.” ~Mother Teresa Humbling oneself can be quite the adventure, but it’s totally worth it! Self-pride often acts as a shield, protecting our ego and hiding our vulnerabilities. To overcome self-pride and embrace humility, we first need to recognize it in our lives. And hey, when we humble ourselves before the Lord, we open the door for…

Self-Care vs. Self-Sacrifice: Striking a God-Honoring Balance
You Can’t Take Care of Others Until You’ve Taken Care of Yourself: True or False? The idea that “You can’t take care of others until you’ve taken care of yourself” sparks debate across various perspectives. Some champion it as a call to self-care, while others view it as an excuse for self-centeredness. Let’s examine both sides, uncover biblical truths, and find a balanced, actionable…
