There are many references of The Lord of The Rings in Stranger Things, especially in season 4. They have been analysed all over the web by different people. And yet... I haven't found the following one. In case someone has (indeed) already unveiled this one, I do apologise for the redundancy.

First of all, whoever saw Stranger Things (probably) knows that there is a clear reference through a quote uttered by Eddie Munson:

"I say you're asking me to follow you into Mordor, which, if I'm totally straight with you, I think is a bad idea. But... the Shire is burning, so... Mordor it is".

As we can see in this picture (credit to the owner/s), Eddie's words are the ones Boromir finds himself speaking during the Council of Elrond and, moreover, he is alluding to the last part of the masterpiece written by Tolkien.

However, what I found absolutely moving was the fact that Eddie actually reached Mordor, the one created by the Duffer Brothers in the upside-down. As a matter of fact, in episode 8, Eddie, Steve, Nancy and Robin enter the upside-down through the infamous "watergate" (as Dustin calls it) and once there, they find themselves stuck in a dark world in which earthquakes are an everlasting presence. Does it remind you of something? Yes! When both Sam and Frodo reach Mount Doom (at last), they have to face not only the fatigue of the journey but also the constant movements of the Earth.

This is why I love fantasy series (especially Stranger Things)! These references are absolutely moving, especially for The Lord of the Rings' fans (and J.R.R. Tolkien's ones).

When two worlds collide, you know that "even darkness must pass" and you start to believe in the good (again!). 🤍

Okay...regarding Witchcraft For Everyone by Sam Wise...

Well, firstly, if you're the author...I'm sorry, you probably shouldn't look at this post, I'm not fond of this book.

This was a deeply frustrating book. I have so many margin-scribbled notes expressing my frustration as I read it.

The most frustrating parts for me was in the editing and formatting: The inconsistency in the capitalization, formatting, and spelling of chapter titles, paired with the lack of page numbers and a non-existent table of contents, drove me absolutely bonkers.

So many chapters have bold claims with nothing backing them up within the text, which could have been fixed by citations and sources to back them up. And the author does do this in some places - citing specific books or podcasts or people under specific chapters within the text itself.

There are claims that many witches do or don't do something with seemingly no realization that one's experiences aren't universal, along with bold claims in subjects that the author themself claims they know nothing about.

There are also several separate instances of the author putting essential oils into water (sometimes bath water) without proper dilution. And I'm not just biased because of my anti-essential oil stance! My coworker, who uses essential oils herself, backed me up on this being a bad move!

And can someone please, for the love of whatever, tell me how we came to this organization of chapters?

Honestly, this is a 5/10 book. It's not the worst beginner book I've read, but it's far from the first I'd recommend to a beginner.

I just...wish it was a little better.
