Seeing some people openly react to the passing of Mikayla Raines (saveafox) like “yeah that sucks… anyway here’s why I think she was terrible!!” Is boiling my blood.
She has lost her life. A woman has lost her life. A daughter has lost her mother. A husband has lost his wife.
And your main priority and concern is to ensure that you’re above all and self righteous?
Just disgusting. Utterly disgusting. Shame on all of you. Here and on that vile snark subreddit.
May she Rest In Peace.

news of mikayla raines's death is hitting me hard, as a person who likes foxes (no duh) . I try to push people to avoid "cute" animal videos that are of dubious or possibly manipulated and abusive origin, so she/her organization as a credible source of nice content about foxes in healthy happy conditions was, you know, nice.
the thing that strikes me is that no matter what complaint or critique you may have about the organization's methods, or finances, or whatever, surely you have to admit those animals are better off than they were in fur farming? you can fucking SEE that they are in the videos, can't you?
you know, i'm not a wildlife vet but i can see that an animal running and playing is happier than one shivering in a cage in a factory farm.
but people's little complaints were enough to harass her into this? harass HER, not the people she was rescuing foxes from (not, ftr, that they should be harassed either)??
and of course it's a woman they did this to, too. a woman too passionate about her cause always has to get pathologized and punished. fucking horrible.
rest in peace.

Finding out about the suicide of Save-a-Fox founder Mikayla Raynes yesterday has made me sad beyond words.
Further discovering that she was pretty much bullied into suicide by armchair "animal experts" that wouldn't know what abuse was if it bit them in the asshole, has pissed me the fuck off.
Like, have you idiots ever BEEN to an animal hoarder's house? Did you even watch the videos on her youtube channel? If you did, did you ever notice how CLEAN the whole complex was? 99% of animal hoarder houses look like a fucking trash pile, you know, just like a regular hoarder.
Her animals seemed like they were very well cared for. If that wasn't evidence enough, there was also the numerous vet videos that she posted that also showed that she cared for them. Heck, she paid for a vet to COME TO THE FACILITY to administer their vaccinations and flea meds. Animal hoarders DO NOT DO THIS! Watch ANY video of a team cleaning out a hoarder's house and you will see some pretty horrid shit.
I am just so sick of this shit. Every time I click on a funny cat video on reddit, I only have to scroll once before finding a "This animal is being abused post." The "Abuse" in question being a cat getting its nails trimmed, or being puppeted for a dance, or some other perceived harm that's just an innocent action. Seeing someone being bullied to suicide over similar accusations just makes me want to puke.
The world has one less wonderful person that GENUINELY cared about animals because of you dickheads. I hope you're fucking happy.
I can only hope Ethan can continue with her work in her stead. Oh by the way, if you're wishing for the sanctuary's closure, you do realize that if they can't find homes for the animals they'll likely be euthanized, right? Animals that Mikayla loved. Animals that got to live out the rest of their lives in a large yard, and not just a shitty fur farm pen. Animals that were spared the horrible fate of getting electrocuted and pelted.
If you're that concerned with animal welfare, then get a goddamn job at your local ASPCA for fuck's sake. Do actual work instead of speculating about bullshit.
I'm rambling at this point. I just had to get this off my chest because of how much it upset me.
To Mikyala and all of the other wonderful people on the internet that ACTUALLY do the work to help animals, thank you for your hard work.
To the armchair "animal experts" that act like they are "Helping" by perceiving every animal video on the internet as "abuse"? Go choke on a bag of rotten dicks.

I know I said this on many other posts
KazeoLion (@the-floof-king, now deleted) contributed to the bullying and death of Mikayla Raines, a woman behind the SaveAFox thing. He is currently doubling down and also he is a zoophilie. Block and report him on here and

So I just found out that Mikayla killed herself because of online harassment. Wtf people, what is wrong with you? This lovely women, a wife and new mother, who devoted herself to saving animals was made to feel so horrible and unloved she killed herself. I can't believe people sometimes. Or maybe I can, and that's what really hurts.
So I recently found out about SaveAFox, and there seems to be a lot of discourse about them? The problems seems to be:
A) They are registered as a "fur farm" and regularly buy foxes from fur farms, they even have a fox fur.
B) They don't euthanize foxes with injuries that cause them pain.
C) They aren't doing enough, they only help a few individual foxes.
My personal opinion:
A) Seems like a very clever loophole to me. They don't have the ability to register as a sanctuary, so they register as a fur farm. Yes, they are buying foxes from fur farms, but would you rather they just leave the foxes to die??? It would be illegal and unhelpful in the long run to just break out these foxes and let them loose in the wild, especially when most are injured or too over-bred and domesticated to be let free. The fur mount is sad, but it may be what they are using to register as a fur farm. It is not like they killed a fox specifically to harvest the fur.
B) They try to make the foxes happy and comfortable. It is obvious from the video that these guys love the foxes and have devoted all of their time to them. The bake them special treats, build them houses and give them the best possible life they can, short of releasing them into the wild.
C) They aren't doing enough??? They rescue foxes slated for death, completely restructure their home for them, spend 24/7 caring for them. The videos they produce raise awareness and make people want to save foxes and go against fur farms. Maybe Mikayala isn't "doing more" but she is doing what she can to save the foxes in front of her. What are you doing to save foxes, other than sit on your phones and critize others for trying to help?

exposing someone's actions is information, it is not a threat. i don't know why people can't see that.

Mikayla Raines from Saveafox has taken her own life.
Her partner posted about the tragedy, citing critics from people as close to her as would-be friends, but not limited to internet trolls.
I met her briefly at the state fair after an illegal breader dumped two domestication-attempt foxes at a wild life refuge near me. She was so sweet.
She may not have been perfect, but she was trying to do good. The foxes she "purchased" was a fur fame she bought out and contractually forced them to shut down. She was slowly finding homes for the foxes there but was deeply underwater with not enough support. It was 500 foxes in total. The weight of those foxes was also due to to conditions of said fur farm.
She was also criticized for pets she had prior through legal means. Snakes, and fennec foxes. Neither are illegal to have
The foxes are not legal, but animals who can not be released into the wild will always end up a pet. It's just how it is. And it's a gruesome cycle. Does not change that she didn't deserve to die. Or have her death celebrated for that matter.
Many of these people are doubling down while blaming it on her being too mentally ill, or two Tumblr posts in question (post 1, post 2) that claim that due to being on Tumblr they couldn't have contributed. Which is not even remotely true. All of the internet is connected no matter the platform and every Tumblr user knows this. We all know Tumblr posts go viral online, especially when reposted to Facebook, and all Tumblr users have more than one social media.
It's disgusting. I hope you never know a day of peace.
Update on someone who commented on my post and is now dirty deleting and blocking so I'll make the statement I have here.
Archiving VS insinuating blame are entirely different things. She was slut shamed and also shamed for owning snakes. Owning snakes is NOT a crime. You were archiving shit you were bullying.

So everyone is aware. Save a Fox founder Mikayla Raines, has died at age 29
She took her own life due to online harassment
This is one of the people who helped to contribute to her death through a snark Reddit they created online. THIS behavior should NOT be allowed on this website. So everyone is aware of this person in case you are a mutual or know them. They are a very bad person and cause the death of someone who was trying to save animals from fur farms. Here are some of the Reddit posts

Heartbroken. But I'm going to make a post as consise as possible;
Do not go out of your way to doxx or harrass the people who drove her off. Don't sink to their level. Mourn and honour her proactively. Donate, support SAF in other ways, volunteer, look into local legislation to protect exotic wildlife. Put more good into the world with your energy.
To those that are doubling down; The wake of a young mother's death is not the time or place to go "uhm. but ackshually she was Bad :(((". You know damn well how you sound. Act like an adult.
To those that have expressed disapproval or disagreements with SAF in the past but have since expressed regret, or tried to be respectful and factual, and are currently trying to remain respectful; thank you. I'm sorry some angry, grief-ridden people will make your life difficult for the next little while. See the latter half of point 1.
As far as personal thoughts; I don't think Mikayla was flawless in her operations. But I do know she worked SAF with so much care and reverence for the animals, and did her best to educate and inform - not just fans, but herself as well. I know damn well she didn't deserve to be driven to an early grave. I hope she rests easy and her family is able to cope with this loss. I always loved seeing SAF come up on my feed.

i see a lot of anger and sadness going around right now which i definitely understand, but i would encourage anyone affected by recent news to channel your love for wildlife into real action. see if your local zoo has a wildlife rehabilitation program you can volunteer with! take some small steps this week towards making your yard or garden animal-friendly! if we all care about animals, we should be doing something productive to help them

Christ on a cracker, no one seems to be able to act normal about this SaveAFox shit. I remember even back a couple years ago, I'd heard some criticisms of how she handled things, simply agreed "Yeah that sounds a bit concerning, I won't be watching her stuff," and then moved on, maybe on occasion gave friends a heads up if they posted her stuff, but otherwise, just... moving on.
I remember getting agitated when what started as very mild criticisms started to evolve into post after post into dedicated tag for her into Google Doc Callout Post™ and just feeling deeply annoyed by this being a constant cycle, and unfollowed some folks because of it. People who remember my old blog probably remember my post talking about people on Animalblr (? is that the word) I found annoying, this was part of why.
And in a way, it's a bit... cathartic? That may not be the right word for it. The irony of it all, is that the people who were most vocal about this, I could say the same thing for them that I would've said about Mikayla, which is that they were well-intended (caring about animal welfare and having real concerns) but still irresponsible (documenting literally every thing the woman did in dedicated tags; this was bound to attract bad faith actors and concern trolls!)
I honestly hadn't thought about Mikayla for a long time until this happened today, because, again, my response was simply "Well I won't watch those videos" then moving on. I didn't keep a dedicated tag to documenting everything she did. Hearing the news was honestly devastating, because I don't care what a person did, they don't deserve to die. I never even thought of Mikayla as a bad person, just well-intended but irresponsible, even if she were a "bad person" I wouldn't think she deserved to die.
So, fuck you if you sincerely consider this a "win," if you have no regrets about anything you did. I personally now have regrets trusting the word of some of these individuals, seeing as it has now escalated to this point. And sure, Ethan said it was because of people she knew and other sanctuaries, but let's not pretend rumors don't spread. I remember when I saw the doc in particular, I was disgusted that her having an OnlyFans even came up, it just ruined the credibility of the entire doc, no matter what legitimate concerns you may have had about Mikayla's animal welfare, because her having an OF... has nothing to do with her welfare! But that being information other sanctuaries could've found out about could've still ruined her credibility with them regardless, since, y'know, people fucking hate women who have a sexuality?
I will also say, I do think some of her defenders are going way too far, and I do not approve of this. I think it's kinda ridiculous to accuse every single person who's ever mildly criticized her, especially if it was years ago, and/or came from a person who's been inactive on Tumblr for half a year, of being "murderers." I've seen people hurling slurs (mostly the R-slur), being transphobic (because Owlvid in particular is trans), making threats about doxxing people and/or raping them and their family members... what the hell is wrong with you? There is no childish "But they did it first-" here, you are engaging in the exact kind of behavior that lead to Mikayla's death, and that's disgusting, what we're learning from this shouldn't be "Let's keep up this cycle of vengeance!" or "Let's document everything someone we don't like does!" No, do not entertain the idea of the "callout post." That's how we get here in the first place. Block. Move on. Curate. That's what the people who didn't like her content should've done, too.
May Mikayla rest in peace, my heart goes out to her family, I hope Ethan can get the funds that he needs in order to take care of his daughter, and I hope the animals can, at least, be rehomed to other sanctuaries, should Ethan not receive proper funding.
There's been a lot of recent events making me rethink how quickly I and others jump the gun when it comes to animal welfare concerns, and this is one of them.

TW suicide/online bullying discussion (about a youtuber—not me)
just heard the news that the owner of the saveafox youtube channel and rescue, mikayla raines, ended her own life. incredibly sad. she has a young daughter too. i remember watching the shorts that would pop into my feed from her channel a couple years ago.
she may not have done everything right, but it seemed like her heart was in the right place from what i saw personally. like i understand providing facts/information is good so people can be properly informed of who they're supporting (financially or otherwise), but it seems like some people took it way too far and turned it into harassment. by the sounds of it, it was mostly from other rescues and people once considered close friends. although online bullying played a part too. it's just really tragic.
as someone who also deals with suicidal thoughts, i understand how easy it is to think killing yourself is a good idea when you're in the middle of having a horrible time. when the sadness and hopelessness is so strong, you're desperate to not feel it anymore. when you're so tired and you just want to rest. the urge feels very spur-of-the-moment in my experience. sometimes i'm scared i'll give in to the impulse. i wonder if that's what mikayla was going through too.
there's apparently a hunt going on after people online deemed "responsible" for this tragedy. i can understand the anger, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth regardless. it just feels like the cycle of harassment, bullying, and hate is being perpetuated. some of these people being "hunted" sound like kids who just don't know any better about how their words can affect others. some seem like adults who couldn't imagine the situation leading to something like this and genuinely regret things they said. some don't seem to feel regret at all. it just feels like a circle of hate.
idk, the whole entire situation is just really, really sad. i feel terrible for her family. especially her daughter. she shouldn't have had to lose her mom so young. i hope she'll be okay.

Rest in peace Mikayla Raines.
Mikayla Raines was the founder of Save A Fox, a rescue group dedicated to saving foxes, coyotes, cats, among other animals, and giving them a sanctuary to be safe. Mikayla was an amazing person with a beautiful personality that shined inside out. Mikayla struggled with Autism, Depression, and other things that she tried so hard to overcome. She was a loving, empathetic person who took others problems to heart and felf pain with them. Behind this bubbly, kind, gentle soul, was a woman just trying to do her best and have a good life. She was victim of harassment from other sanctuarys, people she knew in real life, and complete strangers who pushed her to the limit. Yesterday Mikayla's husband posted a video on the Save A Fox YouTube channel and shared with the world the devastating news that Mikayla Raines had taken her own life a few days prior due to the intense pressure of everything she was going through. Mikayla leaves behind a loving husband and daughter with hearts of gold and all the animals she rescued. Rest in peace, Mikayla. You were loved more than you could ever know.

Jesus fucking christ that went from 0 to 100 real quick.
Listen I dont care what side of the SaveAFox debacle you're on. But sending anons and wishing violence on people because of it is atrocious. And now the fanbase is actively doxxing people?? Because they disagreed with someone's care practices???
Get a grip. You're making a sad situation into a dumpster fire.
For those getting anons (not going to tag them here because they have enough to deal with right now, holy fuck) I hope things get better soon. Stay safe.
