[ J:\\ JOTA SPEAKS LIKE THIS. ]
[ ♀J:\\ JOTETTE SPEAKS LIKE THIS. ]
It started out like any other day, with 17 year old James (A.K.A "Jay Phobia") P███ was taking a walk in Washington, D.C. when he found something impossible, an ancient supercomputer buried beneath the city. Digging into it day after day, he uncovered research tied to a forgotten god: Doctor Screech, the deity of language, speech, and forbidden knowledge.
Obsessed, Jay set out to recreate the legendary urban myth Polybius, he was building a recreation of the arcade legend, but added a new twist, a plague doctor boss, symbolizing the sickness the game was rumored to spread. When he connected the game to the supercomputer, something awakened. A entity born from the magic residue Screech left behind and mangled poorly optimized code, this entity was dubbed JOTA.
Since then, Jay hasn’t been the same. Plagued by visions of JOTA on every screen, prone to bursts of violence, he eventually vanished into the depths of the bunker, he returned to it and struck the supercomputer again and again, but after a power surge knocked him unconscious, he awoke in a realm that was a fusion of magic and data, a realm he named Cyberspace.
Now, with JOTA's power, he runs a cursed arcade, a front for an experiment to study the entities lurking within the digital void.
𝙴𝙽𝚃𝚁𝚈 #𝟸: 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙱𝚁𝙸𝙳𝙶𝙴
OUTSIDE -
A vast, black expanse, adorned with grid-patterned green lines and shrouded mountains that conceal Circuitboard City. Green floating stairs serve as the arcade entrance, the space under the arcade leading to an underground subway entry point for access to Circuitboard City.
J:\\ CIRCUITBOARD CITY \\\\
helped by @just-hyper-active
The cyber-city sprawls beyond the mountains, initially visible like a distant skybox. However, the true nature of this place is revealed when you journey there through the Subway, unlocking Circuitboard City in it's fullest. Jay shelters entties amidst the skyscrapers, surrounded by advertisements for JOTA's Arcade.
J:\\ ARCADE INTERIOR \\\\
Inside the arcade, a extension of JOTA's twisted persona unfolds with moving wall patterns and nonsensical floors. Rows of cabinets, a prize corner, and a maintenance room entrance mark the journey. As one ascends towards JOTA's office, the rooms defy Euclidean logic, with unconventional door placements, and other such glitchy mishaps.
J:\\ JOTA'S OFFICE \\\\
JOTA's office, a dark green room adorned with silver accents. A faux bird rug lies in the center, and a dark green desk bears a lunatic's scribbles. Nearby stands a simple polygon statue of a pixelated emerald-textured plague doctor. Wall sketches depict a green heart with expansive wings and stylized plague doctors drawn from simple lines and shapes. Above, a mounted skull with a "GAME OVER - JOTAPHOBIA" plaque completes the room.
J:\\ JAY'S BEDROOM \\\\
Jay's bedroom, features a beanbag bed, the sole Sega Genesis in the arcade ever since a run-in with Sonic.EXE himself, Sonic posters, and invisible ink-laden posters of the other text doctors, the Cade Crew, and Jay himself. The dark green room houses a simple stand with drawers, holding obscure games, and a basic TV. This room is to the right of the office hallway.
J:\\ SUIT JUNGLE \\\\
Behind the curtains of the throne room lies the enigmatic Suit Jungle, featuring towering, unreachable arcade cabinets and one of them stands far above the rest, displaying myriad copies of JOTA's suit, glaring at whoever roams by, amid twisted metal trees and digital leaves, static falls like water and error messages are the closest thing to clouds, more copies of the suit are found crawling around, acting as birds, glitching green messages, seemingly written by Jay himself adorn the place's floors and walls.
Jay first encountered Sonic.EXE, also known as "X," during an event called Incident X. This voidspawn manifested itself as Sonic The Hedgehog and attempted to claim Jay's soul. The encounter took place fashionably late at JOTA's arcade, following the Halloween EXE Takeover in 2023. Since then, X has been engaging in periodic battles with Jay's suit.
the voices I have for all of my anons unless said otherwise: https://tts.cyzon.us
EXE
X derives pleasure from toying with human souls, leaving Jay concerned about how long he can keep the entity amused before facing potential death. In the aftermath of the incident, Jay discovered the existence of other entities similar to X, collectively referred to as "EXEs"

Last weekend I read most of J. D. Salinger's Glass family stories (with the exclusion of the non-Bananafish ones in Nine Stories).
Good stuff! Funny, haunting, verbally inventive, and full of interconnections / internal references that are rewarding to follow.
Much better than I what remember of Catcher in the Rye. Though I read Catcher in middle school, so maybe I'd like it better now. (My main reaction at the time was along the lines of "ugh this guy sucks" and "I get the sense I'm meant to pity him for being too young to know better, which I find kind of offensive, being even younger myself.")
Reportedly the Salinger estate is still planning to publish all the stuff the guy wrote and kept to himself in the decades since 1965 -- at least eventually. So the already-layered Glass narrative may acquire additional layers within our lifetimes. Tantalizing to think about.
#still struggling to assimilate 'hapworth' to the rest of it in a way that satisfies me#but i don't think 'hapworth' was just an epic misfire the way critics said at the time#it's just... really weird (in a way that is obviously on purpose)#much like 'seymour an introduction' except the purpose in that case is easier to divine#litcrit

"(...) divine or not, a seizure's a seizure. (...) By every logical definition, he was an unhealthy specimen, he did on his worst nights and late afternoons give out not only cries of pain but cries for help, and when nominal help arrived, he did decline to say in perfectly intelligible language where it hurt. Even so, I do openly cavil with the declared experts in these matters - the scholars, the biographers, and especially the current ruling intellectual aristocracy educated in one or another of the big public psychoanalytical schools - and I cavil with them most acrimoniously over this: they don't listen properly to cries of pain when they come. They can't, of course. They're a peerage of tin cars. With such faulty equipment, with those cars, how can anyone possibly trace the pain, by sound and quality alone, back to its source? With such wretched hearing equipment, the best, I think, that can be detected, and perhaps verified, is a few stray, thin overtones - hardly even counterpoint-coming from a troubled childhood or a disordered libido. But where does by far the bulk, the whole ambulance load, of pain really come from? Where must it come from? Isn't the true poet or painter a seer? Isn't he, actually, the only seer we have on earth? Most apparently not the scientist, most emphatically not the psychiatrist. (Surely the one and only great poet the psychoanalysts have had was Freud himself; he had a little car trouble of his own, no doubt, but who in his right mind could deny that an epic poet was at work?) Forgive me; I'm nearly finished with this. In a seer, what part of the human anatomy would necessarily be required to take the most abuse? The eyes, certainly. (...) Isn't it clear? Don't those cries come straight from the eyes? However contradictory the coroner's report - whether he pronounces Consumption or Loneliness or Suicide to be the cause of death - isn't it plain how the true artist-seer actually dies? I say (and everything that follows in these pages all too possibly stands or falls on my being at least nearly right) - I say that the true artist-seer, the heavenly fool who can and does produce beauty, is mainly dazzled to death by his own scruples, the blinding shapes and colors of his own scared human conscience."

The next part of I tasted ash and knew [ it was you ] has a good chunk done. It will be out soonish. Hopefully.
On another note here’s the introduction to my Wandanat fic set to release after the Rio x reader update.
all i can do [ is love you ] [ w.m. & n.r. ]

Summary: When you find a dog loitering around your apartment building, you’re quick to seek out his owners. As it turns out the owners are married couple Wanda Maximoff — CEO conglomerate — and Natasha Romanoff — owner of a nationwide personal protection industry catering to the elite. Their reward for returning their precious canine, Seymour? In-home 24/7 nannying for a dog and an offer: a pretty face to come home to and no more student loans.
Thoughts?

Mission Impossible movies ranked by me
Ghost Protocol. It's nostalgic for me cuz I watched it like a bajillion times during my Jeremy Renner obsession in 2014. Also it's just a solid movie all around.
Dead Reckoning. HAYLEY. Also another solid movie. Plus the DVD commentary is a lot of fun
MI3. The introduction of Benji. Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the villain. Another fun commentary. This is where the franchise really hit its stride.
Fallout. Fun movie, good commentary, Vanessa Kirby.
Rogue Nation. I actually don't remember a lot of details about this one, despite watching it around the same time as the others last year. I remember I liked it though. The opera house sequence was pretty badass.
MI1. The very beginning. Typical 90s corniness. It's not terrible, it's just ranked so low because the others are better.
MI2. It's fucking stupid but Tom's hair looked great.
I'll be sure to update my rankings after I see the new one. I anticipate it'll be near the top of my list.

Just popping in to say that I love your blog so much and that I always find myself scrolling through it when I catch a bad case of Little Shop brainworms <33 thank you for truly being the backbone of this Tumblr community ^^ Also!! Do you have any aspect of LSOH (either film or stage show :)) you LOVE a ton but don't see enough people talk about or praise?? Or just an underrated aspect of it in general?? Hope that question makes sense lol and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day/night :D
Aw thank you so much! Means a lot to know that I'm contributing something worthwhile to this small but passionate fandom on here!
Anyhoo, that’s a good question. Just about everyone I've seen has covered everything about Little Shop down to the nitty gritty details and I absolutely love that. However, if there’s one thing I think deserves more love and tends to get overlooked, it's Lee Wilkof, who originated the role of Seymour on stage.
He tends to get thrown under the bus a lot by some people and I have absolutely no idea why. I've heard people criticizing him saying that he was too old for the role at the time, but he was only 31 when the show first opened and is actually slightly younger than Ellen Greene but no one seems to be saying that she was too old for her role. That, or either he doesn’t look the part, which I don’t understand how he couldn’t look like Seymour when he was the first guy to play Seymour on stage. If it's about him balding prematurely at the time, who cares? Seymour's not supposed to be this conventionally attractive guy anyway so why should there be a set standard for how he should look? Those complaints are just a bit silly to me.
Besides that, he also gets completely upstaged by Ellen (which is understandable 😂) so most people tend to remember her more when it comes to the original off-Broadway production. I mean, she even got top billing over Lee who was the lead which is kind of insane when you think about it (but again, iconic for her).

And then later, he got even more overshadowed by Rick Moranis, which I also get. He played Seymour in the movie which was most people's first introduction to the character so I understand that there's going to be some sort of bias present.
Basically, everything was not in his favor which sucks cause I really love him as Seymour. He added a lot of grit to the role, which I typically don’t see a lot of Seymours doing. Most people play him very passive or overly timid, which is fine, but Seymour's a very morally grey character that isn't all good or all bad. He's cute and insecure, yes, but he also indirectly murders people and feeds them to a plant lol. There's gotta be a balance and Lee gets that. He really nails all the anger, guilt, distress, etc. that Seymour goes through throughout the show. The Meek Shall Inherit and Death of Seymour in particular are when he really gets a chance to pop off. And he's of course able to be sweet and sincere when needed such as during Suddenly Seymour or basically anytime he interacts with Audrey. His singing is also amazing! I primarily listen to 1982 cast album just for him (and Ellen I won't lie haha). I especially love his vibrato and how hard he goes in some of the songs like Feed Me and Now It's Just The Gas. And he has great chemistry with Ellen! What's not to love?
I also appreciate how he’s still very much involved in Little Shop whether it’s doing an interview, like recently with Little Shop of Audrey, or showing up for Little Shop related events, like the 2015 Encores opening night afterparty. Not a lot of actors do that especially so long after their show has ended so I can tell the role and Little Shop as a whole has meant a lot to him. I mean, he met his future wife while working on the show so you can’t say it doesn’t mean something to him lol.
While I have said in the past that Rick is my favorite Seymour, Lee is for sure a close second. He played an essential part in making Little Shop what it is today by laying out the foundation for Seymour which is very respectable.

So yeah, give him some more love! He's great!
And thanks for the ask! Have a wonderful rest of your day/night too <3
