The Homestuck 2025 Fan Calendar is HERE!

I have so much love for the fandom tradition of yearly Homestuck calendars, and was so disheartened when they discontinued a few years back. So last year, I decided to continue the tradition on my own, and put together the work of 14 artists for a fantastic final product that did pretty well, thanks to all of you.

Now, the tradition continues! And I have to say that I think we've knocked it out of the park this year. Every single piece is drop-dead gorgeous, and they are all based on the theme of SGRUB.

hiiii newb player here so sorry if this has been asked before. my game audio completely stopped working once i entered. not sure if this is a bug orrrrr..? really unsettling not hearing the sfx when fighting imps >_<

Possible causes that are game related:

You have gone deaf. You will Question your way out of this one eventually.

Master Volume set itself to 0 (sometimes happens upon entry, we are not entirely sure why). You can check in Settings -> Audio, and set the volume to your preferred level.

Your Land generated the Silence theme or its subtype. You can Quest your way out of this. You can tell by visiting other Lands and/or Dream Moons, audio there should work.

Your Land generated the Sound theme or its subtype. Has to be Landquested out of. Same check as above.

If you are playing release older than 7.2.0, your Land might have generated as Land of Sound And Silence (or corresponding subtypes), in which case you can’t do shit about it, but anywhere else the audio should work as normal.

Possible causes that are not game related:

Your audio drivers are busted. Update/repair.

Whatever was transmitting sound from your gaming device lost connection/ability to transmit sound. Typically Bluetooth devices are a prime suspect because Entry temporarily confuses that. Deploy Turn It Off And On strategy.

You have gone deaf. Accommodate for this disability; you have an Alchemiter and aids have been made dirt cheap or in some cases even free on purpose

when i think about the trolls i keep coming across the fact that i fucking love the concept of this species!! here's so much you can come up with and you can really think deeply about the social, political, economic things about how everything developed there, but then i remember that in canon it was just doc scratch who messed everything up. In general trolls don't even have the potential to change everything because it's all lord english's plan. and all these characters, the 12 trolls... i'm just thinking about how interesting it would be to reveal more about their social interactions with this political imperialistic system and all that, but most of them were simply killed. in principle the plot there is not about the peculiarities of Alternian politics and social life. and yeah homestuck is interesting and I love it and this whole thing with sburb is also interesting and homestuck is wonderful in its authenticity. but I just really like the theme of politics more than...uknow....sburb/sgrub

I am fucking pissed off by the factor of Lord English/Caliborn/Doc Scratch in the history of trolls as a species. Condess is essentially a stupid puppet and servant. The whole alternian history is not the result of complex socio-political processes, but like "fate" that did not depend on the trolls. like I fucking love trolls and all this completely deprives them of any agency, and I hate that

That's why I decided to draw my own comic, where the troll empire is not the result of Lord English's manipulation, but the result of the actions and decisions of the trolls themselves

Deeply fucked up that Eridan and Nepeta were forced to work together for the sgrub session. How did that even happen, I imagine it took so long for her to be able to play the game that he was like the only chance left to escape annihilation, but still what the fuck. Cat girl who hates the hemospectrum, and enjoys shipping and hunting having to be forced to work with fascist fish wizard man who wants to kill everyone lower than him on the hemospectrum, including her. Most accursed sburb session server client pair ever. And we don’t even see them interact in the comic once!

Another thing is that Sburb/Sgrub was never finished. We only see alpha and beta versions. While it would be neat to explore what a full release of Sburb/Sgrub would be like, I doubt anyone working on Homestuck wants to show what that would be like.

Imagine, instead of making a sacrificial species to play Sburb and hoping meteors with ectobiological clones of that species show up, Dirk instead patched Sburb so starting a session wouldn't totally destroy the players' planet(s). He makes the Skianan defense portals send the childless meteors into empty space or something. Bro programmed Sburb for the beta kid timeline, so Ultimate Dirk should know how to hack and modify Sburb.

Heck, Dirk with Rose's help might enough come up with an alternative win condition that lets 1-2 player sessions make a new universe (or just makes it so sessions with less than 3 players won't start until at least 3 players join for the best chance of success). Alternatively, Dirk just patches things so another Lord English can't come about from his version of Sburb. Even without updating Sburb, Rose, Dirk, or really any former player could write a complete walkthrough of the game to help prepare future players down the line, especially since Rose was looking for such a walkthrough after her session started.

It would be interesting to learn about the other lands, consorts, and the denizens as their final boss. What each one was, the purpose of it that reflects the growth of the character, and how each one may defeat the boss to gain all of the ultimate power. Most we could do is just speculate given small glimpses and names given to us. That would be interesting and game breaking to see someone hack and recode Sburb. And having an established walkthrough would show careful extra planning on Rose's part. Maybe have it also give secret messages that she tries to convey without someone like LE or anyone bad, could decipher.

The Orpheus Family Reunion

One day while Ash and Olimar are visiting, the manor gets an uninvited guest.

No, it's not the escape crew yet. Instead it's Daffy Duck, Door-to-door salesman and Amateur Inventor, looking to get a job at Styx Technologies... which isn't actually a company yet, and Tulip honestly isn't sure how Daffy even knew about the Styx brand given she hasn't actually marketed or sold anything with it beyond a few commissions for people she knows personally.

He isn't even from this universe, as evidenced by him having a Donandan Kirlia named Lulu (Donandan Kirlia are Electric/Dragon Because Reasons and can have either Synchronize or Rough Skin) when the Donanda region only exists in Avatar Ash's world specifically.

Anyway, after a few minutes of everybody being trapped in a Looney Tunes short one of the walls explodes, burying the duck in rubble and revealing the Escape Squad (who really need a new name now that they've accomplished that goal) plus Daisy, Archie, a bunch of anime characters (mostly girls of course) with glowing blue outlines, and a captured and unmasked Aite, who most of the group is quick to realize looks like an older, scarred Tulip with dyed hair, which Andrew confirms is because she is.

Anyway, Andrew's here to get his daughter and his house back and kick out everybody else. They can give him what he wants willingly, or...

To demonstrate exactly what they mean by "or" Francis has one of his drawings attack Ash, who just barely manages to halt the red-and-black blur with a quick Protect. That character turns out to be Ranma Saotome, in girl form of course, who's implied to have been the first character Francis drew with his Inkweaver 2.0 and who would've landed a just-barely-subsonic kick squarely into Ash's throat if his reaction was even a bit slower.

Anyway, they're obviously not going to go down without a fight, so the brawl is on! It starts with Alice trying to turn the security system on the invaders, only to find that Tippitron is already in the middle of infiltrating it (hence why no one was alerted to a group of wanted criminals showing up) so those two are going to be occupied for a while.

Ash and Ranma are also in a one-on-one martial arts duel that nobody else can keep up with.

Spamton can't just flatten everybody with his Virus Powers because he's stuck dealing with Waypoint.

SMG7 is managing to give a lot of the anime horde and Lady Rose a run for their money with her extremely weaponized wheelchair. She's assisted by Ash's Sgrub, who's doing his best.

Olimar and any of Ash's Pokemon that aren't busy fighting the anime characters are trying to rescue Aite from Marianne and an increasingly reluctant Archie (since they otherwise can't really contribute to the battle).

Dale gets cornered by a vengeful Andrew in Honeytrap form, which is both terrifying and a bit awkward, with the ghosts (and an admittedly much more effective Lulu) trying to save him since Tulip's a bit busy trying to take down Francis so he can't keep adding to his waifu army and hasn't noticed.

Nermal is in a fight with Ash's Hisuian Lilligant and gets the upper hand for a bit by invoking the Ganondorf Suavamente meme (he's Harmonian of course he favors song-based memes)

Daffy digs himself out, sees what's going on, and gleefully decides that a home invasion is the perfect opportunity to show what his brilliant creations can bring to the (currently nonexistent, I remind you) company. In his defense he really is helping... for the most part.

SMG10's attempt at vengeance gets interrupted partway through (she managed to mess Daisy up pretty bad but was aiming for something permanent) when a third party (fourth if you count all the chaos Daffy's causing) joins the fray; Liana, who's realized that every single living Orpheus is in one place and has decided that nobody is leaving this property alive!

Which is. You know. A pretty high-stakes problem given the three Avatars present.

So along with fighting each other everybody who can even touch a ghost is now trying to get rid of the ridiculously powerful vengeful spirit.

While this is where things look like they're going horribly wrong, it's actually where they're starting to turn around.

Sgrub defeats enough of the Anime characters that he evolves into Roughiant and gets to be the one to knock out Rose which is pretty cool.

Ash eventually manages to hit Ranma with an improvised Scald using a pond in the backyard and Blaze Kick, which changes her into his boy form... and somehow turns him into a real person and frees him from Francis's control, presumably because he's no longer the drawing that Francis made in the first place. I have no idea why Ash thought it would work like that or how he was right.

Alice and Tippitron have been stuck in a stalemate so far, which is rectified when Daffy finds a Suspicious Drive in his briefcase that he doesn't remember putting there and impulsively plugs into Tulip's phone, which causes Alice to evolve into a Porymod and suddenly have a significant advantage over her opponent.

The ghosts unfortunately had to help deal with the one opponent they could actually touch since their poltergeist antics weren't really doing much against a straight-up demon from a universe with some frankly absurd power scaling, so for a bit it's just been Dale and Lulu against Honeytrap, and it isn't going well (not that it was to begin with), only for Ash's Gardevoir and a recently freed up Tulip (Ash and Ranma had jumped in to help with Fancis and took over there when the three of them noticed this mess) to swoop in. Lulu is absolutely starstruck by the alternate form of her eventual final stage.

All the spectral bullshit that's happening upstairs gets Leo's attention, and he's ultimately the one to defeat Liana by busting out of his box so he can drag her down into it with him. I don't know why he decided to do that, I just figured it'd be an interesting way to take her out. And I thought it'd be fun to make everybody go "wait, shit, he can do that!?"

Also, Tulip uses this opportunity to lock the box with her Keyblade just in case either of them get any ideas. She would've done it earlier but for once her absentmindedness was beneficial.

Though, Liana does manage one last trick before she's locked away, sensing the hints of death magic within Ranma and using the last of her power to snag a bit of it and plant it in Archie. She's got no idea what it does, but it's death magic so it must be horrible, right?

And with her out of the way, everybody can focus on the Escape Squad again, who are significantly worse off than the manor group, mostly because the guy supplying their superior numbers both ran out of ink and got the shit kicked out of them. They all get corralled onto the driveway and Tulip manages to pull off a Trinity Limit with Ash and Ranma that sends them all blasting off.

Anyway, now all that's left are repairs and medical attention (not that that's any different from a usual Tuesday really), an explanation from Aite of what exactly her deal is, congradulating Roughiant and Alice on their evolutions, and figuring out what to do with Ranma and Daffy. I mean, Ranma's literally got nothing right now, and he's clearly not gonna just disappear like the other Inkweaver drawings. And Daffy and Lulu did give them a lot of help when they didn't really have to and Daffy's inventions are certainly impressive, but that doesn't change the fact that Tulip just doesn't have the tech company that he thinks she does yet, and doesn't feel ready to create it currently (even if that is one of her future plans).

In Ranma's case there's the simple solution of just staying with them. I mean they're the only people he knows right now, he's already good enough friends with two of them to pull off a magic-of-friendship-based super-move, and it's not like Tulip doesn't have the space.

Daffy's situation is... admittedly more complicated, albeit less pressing, and I'm not actually sure what to do with him.
