Salome Sibonex: I had that same example of adopting ideas that I was told were good for me because well, you know, feminism or like Latin American issues or whatever it might be. They're told to you as, "this is for you. This is, we're we're going to help you. We're highlighting all the ways that you're being hurt, and that's how we're going to help you."
But I found that it did the same thing [as you]. It got me to focus primarily on who's out to get me, what obstacles are around me, and it comes with this baked in notion that the real problem is bigger than you. The real problem, the real obstacle is always something that is bigger than you. And as an individual, you're kind of at the mercy of that.
And it pushes this identification with your groups as well, as opposed to this kind of like focus on our shared humanity or individuality."

I curled up in my blanket on a rainy Christmas eve
In a world that sometimes feels defined by individual pursuits, the act of selfless generosity during this season becomes a powerful reminder of our shared humanity. Life finds deeper purpose when we extend kindness and compassion to others. I am not merely referring to large gestures, but to myriad forms of generosity one can conceive. Personally, I believe that generosity transcends mere…

asking people to be mindful of others when sharing a communal space (especially one you cannot just up and leave from) is not selfish or misanthropic. come on now
#like we are human beings who have to coexist. i don’t think it should be so much to ask for some courtesy#but some of you guys act like being asked to be civil to the people around you is like being asked to sever a body part#idk it’s just a respect thing. i’m not being very coherent right now but we have to act like we can share communal spaces!#abandon ethical egoism please 🙏

A Scroll Through Wishes
As I scrolled through my Facebook Newsfeed today, I couldn’t help but notice how much of it is now dominated by discussions—heated, hopeful, and sometimes hostile—about the upcoming elections in the Philippines. It’s as if the platform transformed into a public plaza, buzzing with virtual voices of support, criticism, and speculation. Everyone seems to be passionately invested, and it’s hard not…

hi gang. reminder that we are some of the best sweaters in the animal kingdom (second only to equines) allowing us to stay cool and keep moving in hot weather. we have 10 times the density of sweat glands compared to other great apes.
we are ALSO insanely good at smelling rain (specifically geosmin, found in the soil and activated by rain) with the ability to smell 10 parts per trillion. this is speculated to have helped our ancestors survive!
we ALSO have absolutely batshit diets compared to most other animals. caffeine and chocolate are completely toxic to most animals but we can eat it without even feeling sick. even avocados are severely toxic to many animals to the point where it can be fatal to eat, but humans love it!!!
we are ALSO some of the best endurance runners ON EARTH out of ANY other species. we can beat horses in endurance running. you know, the animals that gradually evolved away most of their toes in order to be the best runners?? yeahhh.
and to top it all off. our lifespan is unusually long for our species' weight/mass. in many cases, the bigger a species is, the longer its average lifespan (e.g. domestic mice live for 1-3 years, bowhead whales can live over 200) but we're very small for how long our average lifespan is. big cats like tigers live around 14-15 years, brown bears 25 years, yet here we are expected to live around 75-85 years. that is NUTS.
humans as a species are so extremely cool. it's not just our intellect that makes us amazing. we may not be the fastest or the strongest in the animal kingdom but we're super cool in many other ways. next time you sweat you can go wow!!! humans are so cool I'm able to keep moving because of my absolutely insane number of sweat glands! thank you evolution!
#thought sharing my favourite animal facts about humans would be fun :3#listen to my gibberish boy#yes the lifespan thing is partially due to medicine and improved knowledge but its GOING IN THERE REGARDLESS!!!!#death mention

The Particle and the Principle
As we stand on the precipice of an ever-evolving world, we are reminded that communication is not merely about exchanging words, but about understanding, reflection, and shared responsibility. In an era when global relationships are fractured and trust wavers, it is vital that we approach one another with both curiosity and empathy—striving not to deepen divides, but to bridge them. Each of…

It's bullshit that I feel I have to hide (maybe hide isnt the right word) my indigenous ancestry/heritage because I have "white" features/am "white" presenting
That if I am openly proud of my ancestors that I'm scoffed at
I don't have any of the culture or even the side of the family it comes from in my life
It's wild that I have blood that comes from Britain, Germanic, Scotland, Ireland, france, Wales, and
The America's from Mexico to Canada
I have Romani in my blood too
I wish racism wasn't a thing ya know
It doesn't make sense to me
Colonialism and empire strips us of our culture and identity
I don't know what happened
I hate that they apparently felt the need to assimilate to survive
I only know back to my great grandparents in Sulphur and my family is all on the poverty line which I had been attributing to the trauma of Ireland
What happened?? I don't even know how to unravel the mystery
What's wild is the side of the family who is indigenous descent are all very racist
As if they know and are ashamed? I don't understand yet
This country built on slavery and genocide has the very people they conquered policing each other
It's so heartheavy
#i am my ancestors answered prayers#abolish I.C.E.#Im one of the lucky ones who survived#quantum blood theory is a tool of the empire used for control and division#mutt#shared humanity#family

The Day of Many Hands
Continuing from yesterday’s quiet encounter with the woman who had never seen her own reflection, the very next day in this remote region of Yunnan brought the complete opposite experience. My two photographer friends and I were exploring when we came upon a group of children working together to clear the road after a flood. They were muddy, playful, and filled with an energy that made the whole…

The Christmas Truce During World War I – A Moment of Humanity in the Midst of Conflict
On December 24, 1914, opposing soldiers paused the horrors of war for the Christmas Truce. With carols, gifts, and soccer, they proved that shared humanity can unite even in the darkest of times.
December 24, 1914 On December 24, 1914, amidst the horrors of World War I, one of the most extraordinary moments in modern history unfolded on the Western Front. Soldiers from opposing sides—German, British, and French—spontaneously laid down their weapons, stepping out of their trenches to celebrate Christmas together. This unofficial ceasefire, known as the Christmas Truce, symbolized a rare…

The Core We All Share
Time for Unity We craft our lives around what makes us different. Unique beliefs, distinct priorities, personal truths. These differences define us, or so we like to think. They’re comforting in their contrast, like patterns in a mosaic. But step back for a moment. Look beyond the edges of individuality, and you might see something surprising: beneath the surface, we’re not as different as we…
