It wasn’t ever about bkdk being canon, though. Would that have been groundbreaking, incredible, amazing? Sure? But that wasn’t the point

All we really wanted was an ending for Izuku and Katsuki that made sense with their individual arcs, one where they were both happy and living the lives they’d chased the entire story

Deku vs Kacchan 3 where Izuku gets to yell his feelings about being quirkless again and still manages to win the fight

Izuku being a quirkless hero and still topping the charts (if they still existed)

Katsuki and Izuku chasing after each other, pushing each other to be better, just like they did the entire story

Izuku and Katsuki being hero partners.

Not a single one of those things has to come with blatant canon ship sailing and they would have tied the narrative together so perfectly

Katsuki and Izuku deserved so much better than what they got. Saying otherwise because Izu got the girl in the end is wild

Flint is obviously queer, but I tend to view him as bisexual -- when he first becomes entangled with Miranda, there is absolutely no reason for him to do it other than wanting to. It's an objectively bad idea. She's a married woman and he's working for her husband, and despite what Miranda had implied, he hasn't actually confirmed yet that Thomas would be okay with it. He kisses her because she's beautiful and incredibly charismatic and he wants to do it.

Thomas, I feel a little more inclined to view as gay, with his sexuality maybe a factor in his and Miranda's arrangement (wherein she can fuck other people), but he still clearly respects her and loves her dearly. She's someone who understood and supported him before essentially anyone else, and there's a huge amount of fondness in their relationship.

Thomas and his goals guide all of what Flint does later, but Miranda isn't a lesser part of the equation or a third wheel. For years before they met Flint, Miranda was Thomas's Person, and for all the years after Thomas, she's Flint's. They both truly love her. She is deeply vital to both those men and to their relationship with each other. Even if Thomas/Miranda wasn't romantic, it's clearly strong and loving, and they're both deeply important to Flint.

So I'm kind of confounded to see that Thomas/Miranda/Flint has less than half of the works on ao3 that Thomas/Flint does. Like -- why is that? It can't all be from when the fics are set. They can share him, guys.

Tbh I feel like going to the US while the Nazis are in power is suicidal. So of course I don't understand your choice of going instead of your SO coming to Europe. But while I don't understand, I wish and pray for you to be safe. Whatever you choose, I hope you guys will be okay

You might be right. I have no idea what the future has in store or if I'll come to regret it. But I've already stated my reasons. As it stands, with the year-long process we've already started and that we can't just flip on a dime overnight, my partner can't come and stay in Europe legally just like that. Legal immigration is not that easy in one way or the other. Also... Yeah, I've stated that before, but one shouldn't underestimate how shitty things have been getting in Europe for the past few years as well, and how the influence of the US (which is huge) is likely to make things worse. So again I'm not 100% sure whether that'd have been better anyway.

Also also... Ima be real, I've shared that before, but the time where I was separated from my partner due to the travel ban was the only time in my life where I had actual suicidal ideation. I don't want this to happen again. That's why I'm making moves so it doesn't, first and foremost.

I would love to see a hurt/comfort or angsty fic where Zoro's the one to fall in the water. I've seen lots of ones where the devilfruit users fall in, which of course, but what about one of the non devilfruit crew?

How devastating would that be if it was just Luffy and Zoro in that situation?

Zoro not moving quite right, dizzy with a combination of blood loss and a fall earlier that had him smacking his head against the concrete.

He's going down, Luffy's already moving to help catch him with his own battered and exhausted arms but Zoro just... falls back over the edge and into the water.

It takes Luffy a minute, looking blankly at the water with the sound of a splash still in his ears and some stray drops on his skin.

Zoro doesn't come up.

The blood that washed off him when he hit the water is being broken apart by the waves.

Zoro doesn't come up.

There's no bubbles or movement or any sign that Zoro wasn't passed the fuck out when he went down.

Zoro. Doesn't. Come. Up.

Luffy knows he won't be coming up on his own.

The helplessness of that moment would be unreal. I think that'd be a glimpse of serious Luffy, who stops to think just quickly enough that he can't jump in after Zoro because he can't help. If he jumps in then someone will have to try to get him and Zoro, and they need to focus on Zoro.

Pacing back and forth at the edge, eyes scanning for anything, please, anything to show Zoro can hold on just a little longer. Yelling for someone, anyone.

And Sanji gets there, never far from them in battle, his own injuries forgotten as he see Luffy stalking the ledge and no sign of the mosshead. The realization coming quick and cold, his heart up in his throat because Luffy's too wild eyed for Zoro to have simply fallen in like a moron.

Sanji disappearing into the water and Luffy waiting, each second taking too long, and Sanji comes up empty handed.

Luffy howling in anguish.

Something mean and wretched growing in his chest. If Zoro dies here, everyone who touched him will die at Luffy's hand.

He ignores the part of him that's remembering Ace and how close he was to saving him, but failed. How Zoro is so close and he failing him too, he's helpless again and god he's so fucking tired of this feeling

Sanji going under again and this time it's longer. This time he comes up with Zoro though.

Pale, the wounds nothing more than gaping red mouths on his skin, the only color left on him besides his hair.

He's not moving. He's not breathing.

It takes both of them to breathe life back into him, hands shaking but unrelenting against his chest.

Finally, Zoro coughs up salt water and pink foam. He manages to roll onto his side and the salt water drips from his gasping mouth- never really waking up but he's breathing, raspy and shallow as it is, and it's a wonderful sound.
