Here to second this. a) It’s a neutral descriptive word. just like cis. white. hetero. b) non-Jews are not discriminated against or face bigotry on a systematic level for not being Jewish. Jews are and do. That’s why calling a Jew “banker” (which obviously is based off of stereotypes) would be considered a slur, and “goyim” is not. c) ive yet to see a jew use “goyim” it derogatory or as a slur. I’ve seen some use it it while (rightfully) expressing frustration, but nothing that in any meaningful way differs from poc talking about white people (or calling us “palm coloured” jokingly), queer people talking about cishets, neurodivergent people talking about neurotypicals (“normies”)

Are some people using it derogatory? Probably. But if you understand why cis people whining about being called cis lies somewhere on the scale of slightly counterproductive to just downright transphobic, you should be able to extend the same understanding to Jews using the word forum.

ok genuinely why are goyim always so offended at being called goyim. im not talking about when its used in an insulting sentence, because in that case youre just upset about being insulted and thats normal. i mean when its used as a neutral descriptor for someone who isnt jewish. the only explanation ive ever seen is people making up definitions of the word to make it seem derogatory.

why is it so upsetting to that jews have a word for people who arent jewish in our own language? do you..want to be jewish? does being left out of things make you sad because you never grew out of the childhood phase where everything is about you? or are you just looking for something to be offended about?

Meta: CM Character Ages in 2025

This is all based on what we know from canon. To establish ages of characters who don't have a canon birth date, I used info in canon and worked backwards to form an educated guess. If anyone sees errors here, let me know so I can update.

Emily Prentiss (born 1970): 55 years old

*Paget Brewster (born 1969) : 56 years old

- CANON. Emily was born in 1970, confirmed in canon on her headstone in 06x18 'Lauren'

Jennifer Jareau (born 1977) : 48 years old

*AJ Cook (born 1978) : 47 years old

- CANON. In S1 (2005) JJ is 28 years old. I can't remember if this was said on screen, but it was confirmed by showrunners in interviews.

Penelope Garcia (born 1980): 45 years old

*Kirsten Vangness (born 1972): 52 years old

- CANON. (Updated thanks to @swpf) In 13x20 'All You Can Eat' (2018), Garcia goes to the trial of the man responsible for her parents death. It is established he's been in prison for 20 years, and we know she was 18 when her parents died. (We all know Garcia's backstory is a messssss, but this is the best estimate)

Tara Lewis (born 1973): 52 years old

*Aisha Tyler (born 1970): 54 years old

- ESTIMATED. We don't know that much about Tara, but again, working backwards from what we do know, I put her at about 52 years old. I'm hoping 18x08 'Tara' will actually give us more of her backstory without destroying us completely

Rebecca Wilson (born 1970-1975): 50 years old

*Nicole Pacent (born 1985) : 40

- ESTIMATED. While Nicole is only 40 irl, Rebecca is MUCH OLDER. In S16 Rebecca has a line about being 'one step away from becoming Associate Attorney General' - based on the required years of experience she would need to achieve this, her youngest possible age is 50.

In Conclusion:

All of these women are middle aged! They're all in the peri-menopausal or menopausal age range. And with the shit they've been through, you KNOW they have The Joint Pains™.

Up for auction: Two rare, signed photographs of Romanov Grand Duchesses Olga Nikolaevna and Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna 

As part of the upcoming Coutau-Bégarie & Associatés ‘Nobility & Royalty: Imperial Russia’ the item is being sold as part of an auction of items belonging to Tatiana Evgenievna Melnik-Botkina, daughter of the Romanov family’s personal physician, Dr. Evgeny Sergeievich Botkin, who was killed alongside the Imperial Family.

Lot 189 is a wooden frame featuring two photographs of Olga Nikolaevna and Tatiana Nikolaevna, photographed circa 1914-1915. The catalogue states that provenance has been established: the photos and frame were presented by the Grand Duchesses at the Catherine Palace Infirmary at Tsarskoe Selo, where Tatiana Botkina was working as a Red Cross Sister of Mercy nurse.

The photographs were later cropped and published in Tatiana Evgenievna Melnik-Botkina’s autobiography, ‘Memories of the Royal Family and their Life Before and After the Revolution’. The complete, original photographs are never-before-seen.

The frame is 8cm x 10.5cm and predicted to sell anywhere between 2000-2500 euros. The only photograph available so far is from the auction catalogue, so here’s hoping that we will be able to see it in high quality soon!

Tatiana Nikolaevna’s published diaries and letters reference the Catherine Palace Infirmary often in 1914:

Friday 19 September 1914: "...Then we went to the Grand Infirmary, where they also took photographs of us during dressings..."

Monday 13 October 1914: "...Then we went to the Grand Infirmary where we bandaged the newly arrived until 1 o'clock..."

Monday 27 October 1914: "...Visited everyone, put on white uniforms and went to the Grand Infirmary..."

Thursday 30 1914: "...Then we went to the Grand [Infirmary] to do the dressings of the newly arrived wounded..."

Thursday 6 November 1914: "...Went to the Grand Infirmary, where they performed 2 surgeries..."
