butch dad!Sevika and her little one going to the first day of kindergarten, and Vika is dazzled by her kidâs teacher & develops a lil crush đŁđŤśđžđŤśđž
omg imagine one day Vikaâs dropping her kid off then when she sees reader, her kiddo just jumps and tells reader about Vikaâs feelings toward her đđđ
i love butch dad sevika, but i'm gonna change this just a bit and make it butch god-father sev, because kids are really hard for me to write, but i already know how to write for jinx haha
men and minors dni
there are always parents crying on the first day of school.
this year, the most endearing by far was the skinny man who just couldn't seem to let go of his daughter, who was vibrating with excitement at the sight of all the toys in your classroom. she kept trying to squirm out of his arms, and he kept pulling her back into his chest and kissing her head.
once she finally broke free, you approached the man, handing him a tissue to blow his nose and sop up his tears.
"i'm sorry, i'm usually not this emotional." he laughs at himself. you smile.
"it's really okay. i find that the parents who cry the most tend to have the best kids." you say. this brings a smile out of him.
"well, jinx is certainly the best." he says. "though, i should tell you, she has a bit of a destructive streak. i usually distract her with a coloring book." he warns. you smile.
silco cries every other day that week, and the two of you form a friendly report as you hand him tissues every morning and give him a breakdown of jinx's behavior every night.
jinx is a great kid. she's full of energy and eager to learn, friendly with others, and funny as shit. you're not supposed to have favorites as a teacher, but jinx is definitely your favorite this year.
the next monday, when she shows up with a woman (a tall, broad, devastatingly handsome woman), you greet jinx with your usual exploding fist bump then approach the woman.
"is silco okay?" you ask. she nods.
"he was a mess at work last week so i decided to take over on drop off duty. can't have him crying in all his meetings." she responds. you laugh.
"well, you must be jinx's mom then?" you ask. the woman laughs. jinx laughs. you blink.
"oh, god no." she grunts out. "no. not her mom." she says, wiping a tear away from her eyes. you blink.
"step-mom?" you ask. this just makes the woman laugh harder. jinx has been distracted by a few kids playing house in the play corner, and she runs off, leaving you and the woman alone.
when she finally catches her breath, she stands back up and introduces herself.
"i'm sevika. jinx's godmother. silco's my best friend." she explains. you shake her hand.
"oh, it's nice to meet you." you say with a smile. "sorry for assuming." you mumble. sevika laughs.
"i don't get mistaken as straight often, it was a good laugh." she says with a shrug.
something inside your stomach flips over.
she is pretty butch, in a power suit and a silk button up underneath. she's got a few chains around her neck, and her chin length hair has been gelled back to stay off her face. she's handsome. and she's staring at you with a sparkle in her eye.
sevika continues to do pick up and drop off for the rest of the year.
each time, she walks into the classroom jinx runs out of her hold to play with her friends, barely waving goodbye to her godmother. sevika lingers, though, hanging out by the door and waiting for you to get a free moment to talk with you.
one day, around halloween, she asks you your coffee order. you find the question odd until the next day, she shows up with a cup of your order for you.
she brings you coffee every day after that, too.
right before winter break, jinx comes in with a mischievous look on her face, and for the first time, sevika doesn't stick around to talk to you. she leaves your coffee on your desk, and bolts. you try to pretend you don't miss her, but your energy is low all day.
jinx seems to notice.
"are you okay miss?" she asks. you sigh and nod.
"i'm fine jinx, how are you?" you ask, as you color with the girl, waiting for sevika to pick you up.
"you don't seem okay. you seem sad." she says. you chuckle and ruffle the girl's hair.
"i'll be okay, don't worry about me." you say. jinx hums, and returns to her drawing.
as she colors in the sun in the corner of her page, she speaks again, not looking at you. "y'know aunt sevika's got a crush on you?" she asks.
you nearly fall out of the toddler-sized chair you're crouching in.
"what!?" you ask. jinx shrugs.
"she keeps askin' me about you. tells me she thinks you're pretty and cool and stuff. she asked me if you were gay, i told her probably." jinx says matter of factly. you choke on your tongue.
"what?!" you ask again. jinx shrugs again.
"you wear a lot of flannel." she says simply.
when sevika arrives to pick jinx up, you can't look her in the eye. she seems to notice.
"fuck, she said something to you didn't she?" sevika groans. you look over at her and bite your lip.
"i, uh. she said something but... i don't think she knows what she's talking about." you whisper, scratching the back of your neck.
sevika groans. "c'mon, when has jinx ever not known what she was talking about?" she grumbles. you chuckle.
"so... it's true?" you ask. sevika gulps. "is that why you ran away this morning?" you ask. sevika sighs.
"i told jinx i'd ask you out before the end of the semester. today's the last day, and i was gonna ask you this morning but... i chickened out." she says. "i guess jinx wasn't having it." she mumbles. you giggle.
"so..." you start. sevika bites her lip.
"i can make silco take over pick up and drop off duty again, if you want." she says, avoiding your eye. you blink.
"what? why?" you ask. sevika shrugs.
"'cause... i got a crush on you?" she says. you nod.
"so?" you ask. sevika blinks. "y'know asking someone out means seeing them more, right?"
"wha-- you-- what?" sevika asks, blinking rapidly. you grin.
"oh my god, adults are so stupid!" jinx screams. "she'll take you out to dinner on friday, okay? c'mon aunt sev, i wanna go home and play roblox already." jinx says. you bite your lip and look back at sevika.
"i'm free friday." you say with a smile. sevika blinks, and grins.
"c-cool. awesome. let me just give you my number." she says as she quickly grabs a student's notebook and marker, scrawling her number down on a piece of paper and tearing it out before shoving it in your hands. you grin.
"see you friday." you say.
jinx is dragging sevika out of the classroom by her hand, but sevika's still got a dopey smile on her face as she stumbles behind the girl.
"see you friday!" she calls from down the hall.
by the end of the year, you and sevika are planning your wedding.

Quiet Mornings with Jinx
CHAPTER II
It's morning, a bit later than usual. You're supposed to be at work by now, actually. You find yourself wrapped in blankets and somebody's arms.
"JINX." Your body is shaken involuntarily, and you open your eyes. The voice shoots through you and the matching face makes you feel as though you've died. Silco stands, looming above Jinx's bed as she sits up. "Huh..?" Silco was your boss, and he was fucking terrifying. You cowered beneath blankets, letting your head rest on Jinx's leg as the father-daughter duo spoke.
"What are they doing here?" Silco's voice was almost a low growl, and his anger overshadowed his confusion. Jinx giggled a little. "Calm down, they weren't feeling well last night."
"That doesn't explain why they're in your bed."
"Well, I wanted to help them." Jinx's voice hid something warm in its tone.
"Both of you were supposed to come to my office an hour ago, did you forget about that?"
Jinx felt your slight quivering, and she rested her hand on your back, pulling the blanket down out of your face. "I'm the one who kept them here, and you know I haven't slept in days," working her magic, she mentioned how she slept herself. Silco had been trying to get her to sleep for about a month, and she never slept longer than an hour. But she actually got decent sleep. Silco sighed, raising his hand as he walked off. "I'll give you two ten minutes. Don't expect this to go unpunished."
Jinx laughed a little, moving her hand to hold your face. "Boss man's a liiitle mad today," she helped you sit up. "Surely a few more minutes in bed wouldn't be too bad.." she pulled you into her embrace before you could react. "Jinx, Silco is going to kill me if I don't get to his office on time."
"Well, surely you could spare just a few minutes?" She smiled in an attempt to convince you. You shook your head. "We've already wasted a minute, and without my job, Silco will probably have me killed this close to you." You pulled away from her forcefully (since she had you almost completely trapped) and went to raid her closet. You didn't feel like going back to your room, so you scavenged through the messy pile of clothes she was meant to put up. Quickly, you pulled on one of her shirts and cargo pants. The shirt was a little big since it was one of Jinx's night shirts, but you didn't really care.
Jinx was in the bathroom, brushing her teeth. You dragged your feet into the bathroom to meet her and you grabbed your spare toothbrush. You'd had enough bad nights that she bought you your own stuff to keep in her room. When she left the room to change, you started to brush your teeth. Two minutes left. You hurried and practically dragged Jinx out of her room towards Silco's office.

The underworld beneath piltover chapter five: market days
sevika x reader
this takes place pre-season one

summary: sevika has been avoiding you since accidentally being vulnerable in front of you and you encounter her at the markets and you explain to her she doesnât have to go through everything alone
notes: I already have chapter six writtenđ but I donât think anyone reads this series anymore(Iâm just posting for my own enjoyment) but Iâm actually sososos excited about chapter 6 guys
warnings: brief mentions of a knife (sevika gifts it to the reader)
The market was a chaotic symphony of noise and motionâvendors shouting their wares, children weaving through the crowd, and the occasional clash of metal as traders haggled over stolen parts. You navigated the throng, clutching your bag of supplies, when a familiar figure caught your eye.
Sevika.
You slowed your pace, instinctively drawn to her. She stood near the edge of a stall, arms crossed, towering over a small girl with messy blue hair. Powder.
The sight stopped you in your tracks. Sevika, the ever-stoic enforcer of the Undercity, was leaning down to the girl, her usual sharp edges dulled. Powder was holding up a small, cobbled-together device that looked like it might explode if handled wrong.
âItâs not working,â Powder said, her voice soft but urgent. âI think mylo messed with it.â
Sevika sighed, kneeling to take the gadget from her. âYouâre blaming mylo? Typical.â
Powder pouted. âIt was him! I just need it fixed. Can you do it?â
Sevika muttered something under her breath, turning the device over in her mechanical hand. Her careful movements and calm focus were so unlike the brusque Sevika you were used to. For a moment, she almost looked... maternal.
You approached without thinking. âDidnât know you were a babysitter.â
Sevikaâs head snapped up, her expression hardening instantly. âWhat are you doing here?â
Powder glanced at you, her wide eyes flicking between the two of you. âWhoâs that?â
âNo one,â Sevika said quickly, standing and handing the repaired device back to Powder.
âFriend,â you countered back smoothly, enjoying the flicker of irritation that crossed Sevikaâs face.
Powder didnât seem to notice the tension. She grinned, cradling the gadget in her hands. âThanks, Sevika! Youâre the best!â With that, she scampered off, disappearing into the crowd.
You turned to Sevika, crossing your arms. âSince when do you play mechanic for Vanderâs kids?â
âSince when is it your business?â she shot back, her tone sharper than usual.
You took a step closer, lowering your voice. âYou donât think itâs... I donât know, hypocritical? Helping his daughter while youâre working for the guy trying to take him down?â
Her jaw tightened, and for a moment, she didnât respond. Then, with a cold glare, she said, âKeep your voice down.â
âYouâre not denying it,â you pointed out, your voice quieter but no less cutting.
Sevikaâs hand curled into a fist at her side. âItâs not that simple.â
âIt never is, is it?â you said bitterly. âBut Powder? Sheâs just a kid, Sevika.â
She looked away, her usual confidence replaced by something harder to placeâshame, maybe, or regret. âYou donât know what youâre talking about,â she muttered.
âMaybe not,â you admitted, softening slightly. âBut you canât keep pretending this doesnât matter. She matters.â
Sevikaâs eyes flicked back to where Powder had vanished into the crowd. For a moment, she looked like she might say something, but instead, she just shook her head. âStay out of it,â she said, her voice low and final.
She brushed past you, disappearing into the throng before you could respond.
You stood there for a moment, staring after her, frustration and confusion churning in your chest.
---
Sevika had gone out of her way to avoid you in the days following the market. She buried herself in Silcoâs workâcoordinating supply routes, meeting with his contacts, anything that would keep her too busy to think about you.
But no matter how much she threw herself into the chaos, your voice lingered in her mind. Your words replayed like an old, scratched-up record, the edges sharp enough to cut through her defenses.
âShe matters.â
It wasnât that simple, though. Nothing in the Undercity ever was. Sevika had built her life on tough choices, on loyalty to Silco and the survival of their cause. But for the first time in years, she felt the weight of guilt pressing down on her.
And it wasnât just about Powder. It was about you.
So when she caught herself heading toward your apartment that evening, she cursed under her breath, torn between turning back and knocking on your door.
In the end, she didnât get a chance to decide.
The door opened before she could lift her hand, and there you wereâcaught in the act of stepping out, your bag slung over your shoulder. You froze, your eyes locking onto hers in a moment of mutual surprise.
âSevika?â you said, your voice cautious but not unkind.
She cleared her throat, her jaw tightening as she tried to find the words. âIââ
âWhy have you been avoiding me,â you interrupted, tilting your head as you studied her. âWhatâs going on?â
She bristled at the directness, but there was no use denying it. âIâve been busy.â
âRight.â Your tone was skeptical, but you didnât push further. Instead, you stepped aside, holding the door open. âYou coming in or what?â
Sevika hesitated. She could turn around, pretend this never happened, and go back to her carefully controlled world. But the thought of walking away from you again made her chest tighten in a way she couldnât ignore.
âYeah,â she muttered, stepping inside.
The warmth of your apartment was a stark contrast to the cold air in the apartment corridor. You set your bag down and turned to her, crossing your arms. âSo... are we going to talk about it?â
She frowned. âTalk about what?â
âWhateverâs been eating at you,â you said simply. âI canât help if you donât let me in, Sevika.â
Her shoulders stiffened, the vulnerability in your words cutting deeper than any blade ever had. âYou think this is something you can fix?â she asked, her voice sharper than she intended.
You didnât flinch. âI donât know. But I think itâs something youâre scared to face.â
Her fists clenched at her sides, the tension in her body radiating off her in waves. âYou donât understand,â she growled, her tone low and bitter.
âThen help me understand,â you shot back, your frustration breaking through.
For a moment, the room was silent, the weight of unspoken truths hanging heavy in the air. Sevikaâs chest ached, her breath shallow as she struggled to hold herself together.
âI canât,â she said finally, her voice breaking.
âWhy not?â you asked, stepping closer.
âBecause you make me weak!â she snapped, the words spilling out before she could stop them.
Your eyes widened, but you didnât move away.
. âEvery time Iâm around you, I lose control. I canât think straight. And itâs... dangerous.â
Your voice softened. âYou donât have to do this alone.â
Sevika let out a hollow laugh, shaking her head. âYou donât get it. People like me donât get to have... this.â She gestured vaguely, her hands trembling.
âYou get to have whatever you choose,â you said firmly. âBut you have to let yourself want it first.â
Her knees felt weak again, the same way they had at the market, and the tension in her chest was unbearable. She turned to face you, her expression raw and unguarded for the first time.
âI donât know how to do this,â she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
âYou donât have to figure it out right now,â you said, stepping close enough to reach out if sheâd let you. âBut you donât have to push me away, either.â
For a moment, she said nothing, her gaze locked onto yours. Then, slowly, hesitantly, she nodded.
It wasnât much, but it was a start.
---
The days following Sevikaâs unexpected visit to your apartment felt like the slow thaw of winterâs grip. She didnât avoid you anymoreânot entirely, at leastâbut her guard remained firmly in place, a shield you couldnât yet breach. Still, there were moments. Small ones.
It started with her presence. Where she might have brushed past you before, she now lingered. When you were assigned to tend to Silcoâs men after a particularly bloody skirmish, Sevika was there, leaning against the wall, her mechanical arm gleaming in the dim light.
âYou donât have to babysit me,â you said, without looking up from the man whose arm you were stitching.
âIâm not,â she said curtly.
You arched a brow, glancing at her. âReally? Because it feels like youâre watching my every move.â
Her lips twitched, just barely. Not quite a smile, but not the scowl you were used to. âMaybe I donât trust you with a needle.â
âLucky for your crew, Iâm good at what I do,â you shot back, tying off the suture with a practiced hand.
Sevika hummed in response, her gaze flicking to the injured man and then back to you. She didnât say more, but she didnât leave, either.
---
The next encounter came days later, in the early hours of the morning. The Undercityâs perpetual twilight gave little sense of time, but the streets were quieter, the usual chaos subdued. You were on your way back from the clinic, your bag slung over your shoulder, when you heard her voice.
âOut late?â
You turned, spotting Sevika leaning against a lamppost, her figure half-hidden in shadow.
âLong night,â you replied, stopping a few steps away. âWhat about you? Shouldnât you be off intimidating someone?â
She smirked, the expression brief but genuine. âThought Iâd take a break.â
You tilted your head, studying her. âYouâve been doing that a lot lately. Showing up, I mean.â
âNoticed that, did you?â
âItâs hard not to,â you said, your tone softer than before.
Sevikaâs smirk faded, replaced by something more subdued. She glanced away, her jaw tight. âIâm not good at this,â she admitted after a moment.
âAt what?â
âWhatever this is.â
You took a step closer, careful not to push too hard. âYou donât have to figure it out all at once. Just... donât shut me out again.â
Her gaze flicked to yours, sharp and searching. For a moment, you thought she might argue, but instead, she noddedâbarely, but it was there.
---
It wasnât until a week later that Sevika made her most unexpected move yet. You were at the market again, bartering for medical supplies, when a familiar shadow fell over you.
âYouâre overpaying,â Sevika said, her voice low and even.
You looked up, surprised to see her standing beside you. âWhat are youââ
The vendor cut you off, his face pale as he realized who was speaking. âN-No problem, miss. I can, uh, lower the price.â
Sevika raised an eyebrow, her expression calm but unyielding. âGood choice.â
The vendor scrambled to pack up your supplies, practically throwing the bundle into your hands before rushing off.
You stared after him, then turned to Sevika. âWas that necessary?â
She shrugged. âHe was ripping you off.â
âAnd you couldnât just let me handle it?â
âNo.â
You huffed a laugh, shaking your head. âYouâre impossible, you know that?â
âYeah,â she said, her tone lighter than usual. âBut I got you a discount.â
Despite yourself, you smiled. âThanks, I guess.â
Sevika didnât respond, but the slight curve of her lips was enough.
---
Later that evening, as you unpacked your supplies, you found something you hadnât purchasedâa small, polished blade tucked into the folds of the fabric. Your brows furrowed, and you turned it over in your hand, spotting the faint initials etched into the hilt.
You didnât have to wonder long who it came from.
The next time you saw her, you held it up. âA gift?â
Sevika crossed her arms, her expression unreadable. âCall it a precaution.â
âFor what?â
âFor when Iâm not around.â
You stared at her, the weight of her words sinking in. It wasnât just a weapon; it was a gesture, her way of saying she cared without actually saying it.
âThank you,â you said quietly.
âDonât make a big deal out of it,â she muttered, already turning away.
But you couldnât help the warmth that bloomed in your chest. Sevika might not have been ready to let her walls down completely, but piece by piece, she was letting you in. And that was enoughâfor now.

ArcaneâSisters of Mine
Chapter 6âThe Search
CHAPTER INDEX

Topside, Viktor makes progress with the Hexcore while Jayce adjusts to his new position. Silco keeps his hold on Marcus.

3rd POV
âWho the hell are you?â Vi asks the rookie Enforcer, Caitlyn Kiramman. Cait looks at the young reddish pink-haired woman pacing her cell.
âI took a look at your file. Thereâs no record of you or your crimes. What are you here for?â Cait asks in response.
âMy sunny personality,â Vi replies sarcastically.
âYou attacked an inmate. Why?â Cait asks.
âWhy not?â Vi asks back, walking in the shadows of her cell.
âHe was a witness in an ongoing investigation,â Cait responds.
âHmm, bummer,â Vi replies nonchalantly, not caring in the slightest.
âThis was a waste of time,â Cait sighs and turns to walk away.
âCouldnât have put it better,â Vi says as Cait starts walking away.
âHey, give Silco a kiss on that winning eye of his, will you?â Vi taunts. Cait glances back at the cell at the name and sighs quietly before walking back over.
âSilco? The industrialist?â Cait confirms.
âOk, this is getting old. Can you just send in whoeverâs gonna kick the shit out of me, so I can get on with my night?â Vi asks. Cait looks at the shadowy figure. She cannot pretend she doesnât know the brutality of Stillwater, but to hear someone subject themselves to such painâŚ
Cait glances down at the red warning line a couple feet away from the cell. Most enforcers know the rule and new guards learn fast. Cait. Cait weighs her options. Despite Viâs demeanor, she mentioned a name, a person of interest. Someone only Cait had suspicions for because Sheriff Marcus wouldnât listen to her.
Cait remembers a time when she was younger. After Jayceâs apartment explosion, she had begged her parents to explore any option she could for personal defense. Her mother disliked the idea of her daughter fighting in a boxing ring or doing martial arts, but Cait managed to convinced her father to try archery. She liked it but Cait preferred shooting ranges. Her mother was skeptical but once Cait showed a talent for it, her mother allowed her to continue.
Cait steps over the line, holding the file in her hands.
âDoes this mean anything to you?â Cait asks, showing Vi the picture the rookie enforcer took earlier.
Vi stops pacing and glances towards the cell grates. She looks through the bars and her ice blue eyes widen when she sees a painted symbol of a monkey head. Just like-
Vi slams the cell bars and Cait flinches slightly.
âWhere did you get this?â Vi asks.
âMy question first. He worked for Silco?â Cait asks.
âUh, they all do. How can anyone not know that? Where did you find this?â Vi insists, gripping the bars tightly.
âThere was an attack. This is evidence,â Cait explains. I need proof if Iâm to believe what youâre saying about Silco,â Cait says and Vi scoffs.
âI could get it for you. Just not from in here,â Vi offers. Cait snickers.
âIn what mad world would I trust someone like you?â Cait asks.
âSomeone like me? You Enforcers are all the same. Just asshole criminals in fancy uniforms,â Vi says, âYou know what? Find Silco yourself.â
âI will, thank you,â Cait decides and walks off again.
âHmm..Undercityâs gonna eat you alive.â Vi warns with a hint of smugness. Cait stops in her tracks and breathes deeply, knowing Vi is right. Sheâd never even stepped foot into the poorer areas of Piltover until she became an Enforcer, much less the Undercity. She keeps walking and once sheâs alone, she pulls out a prisoner release form. She puts it on the wall and signs her name under âparole officerâ. Under âAuthorizationâ, she freezes and bites her lip. She lets the pen hover for a moment before pushing the pen down on the paper. She quickly signs Jayceâs name identically to how the Councilor would do it before folding the paper up and hurrying back to the wardenâs desk.
Cait puts the release form on the desk.
âIâve got orders from Councilor Talis, concerning Inmate 516,â Cait says.
âNot cooperative, huh? You, uh, you want us to have a chat with her?â The warden asks, slamming his metal staff onto the ground. Caitâs eyes widen.
âNo-â She gasps quietly.
âOh.â
âItâs for her release,â Cait explains since the warden clearly hadnât even looked at the form she put down on his desk.
âHuh. Since whenâs he a Councilor?â The warden asks curiously.
âSince..today,â Cait says, knowing how that sounds out loud. The warden scoffs at her and reads the release form.
âHow many âchatsâ have you had with her?â Cait asks.
âYou know, I never even thought to count,â he answers nonchalantly. Caitâs eyes widen at the unabashed way he talks about treating an inmate. It mustâve been a lot, Cait thinks.
Once the warden reluctantly accepts the release, Caitlyn walks back to Viâs cell and unlocks it. Vi feels a twinge of pain in her right shoulder and rolls the joint, trying to alleviate the pain. Sheâs had that pain since that awful night at the cannery. When the explosion toppled the giant metal door on her. The sound of gears clicking gets Viâs attention and the gate makes a slight banging sound before clanking open, a metallic sound echoing in the silence.
Vi looks over and sees her cell is open. Caitâs giving her an unreadable, almost analyzing look before she sighs and walks back to return the key. Vi doesnât take her eyes off the rookie Enforcer.
While Caitlyn is getting Vi released from Stillwater, Marcus is leading the funeral service for the Enforcers Jinx killed while stealing the hexgem.
âThese brave Enforcers sacrificed their lives to defend the values of our great city. To some, they are mothers, fathers, sonsâŚdaughters,â he says, looking at his own daughter, Ren, who is holding a bouquet of white flowers.
âBut to all, they are heroes,â Marcus finishes and the other Enforcers gathered hold their rifles and aim up, firing off a shot, scaring off the crows around the graveyard. Everyone puts a handful of dirt into the coffin holes, including the new Sheriff. Another shot rings out.
When the service is over, Ren tugs on her fatherâs sleeve.
âAre we leaving too?â She asks.
âIn a moment,â he assures her before reaching his hand out. The redheaded girl grabs her fatherâs hand and he walks through the graveyard until he gets to a large marble statue covered in plant growth on the sides. He stops short of the statue, still holding Renâs hand. She looks at the stone figure. A woman with short hair and despite the formal look, her eyes are kind. Ren notices that sheâs wearing the same badge her father now wears.
âWho was this, Daddy?â Ren asks curiously. Marcus, who hadnât been able to look at the statue yet, squeezes his eyes a bit before taking a breath and looking at the statue of Grayson, his former boss and someone he is directly responsible for killing by going against her orders all those years ago.
âA good woman,â Marcus tells his daughter. And he meant it too, wishing the older woman was still here to help with the situation in the UndercityâŚwith Silco. Marcus has regrets and one big one is aligning with the âindustrialistâ. The thought of Silco makes Marcusâs blood boil.
After taking his daughter home, Marcus heads down to the Undercity to meet with Silco. Storming into the Last Drop, ignoring Sevikaâs glare from across the room, Marcus heads upstairs and opens Silcoâs office door.
âAh, Sheriff Marcus, what can I do for you?â Silco asks calmly, still filling out paperwork, not even looking up to meet the Sheriff.
âWe need to talk,â Marcus insists.
Silcoâs POV
âWe need to talk,â Marcus insists. I motion for him to sit before I slide back in my chair, grab a cigar, and get up to sit on the couch opposite him.
âYou said you could control her. I lost six officers! Six!â Marcus snaps, standing up but my guards force him back down.
âShe pushed it too far this time. The Councilâs up in arms. I canât make this go away for you unless you give me something to work with,â Marcus says as I grab the cigar cutter.
âArresting her would be doing you a favor,â Marcus says. I use the cigar cutter to cut the tip off my cigar, cutting off Marcus.
âI donât need favors. I need you to do your job,â I say, lighting my cigar and taking a puff.
âThe Firelights have been a thorn in both our sides. They ambushed my shipment at the Hexgates on the same day as the attack. It seems to me the Council has its culprit,â I explain.
âOh thatâs tidy for you. What if Iâm not interested in playing along?â Marcus threatens.
âWeâve accomplished a lot together, Marcus. Sheriff,â I emphasize, pointing at the badge before taking another puff.
âAnd there is more yet to achieve,â I say and lean forward, âI hope you can remain a part of it.â Smirking I look to the guard on the left. He grabs a sack of gold coins off my desk and shoves it into Marcusâ chest, just like how I gave him his payment in the alley all those years ago.
âFor their families. From an anonymous, concerned citizen,â I explain. Marcus stands up and storms out, his hand clutching the money tightly, slamming the door behind him. I lean back and take another puff. Despite scolding Jinx myself, I knew I wouldâve had to deal with the new Sheriff sooner or later.
3rd POV
While Marcus heads back after his dealings with Silco, newly appointed Councilor Jayce Talis and his partner Viktor argue over Jayceâs newfound responsibilities. Viktor believing they should stick to their original plan of helping improve lives in the Undercity while Jayce argues he has new responsibilities to the Council now. The corrupted Sheriff interrupts the two scientists to try and dissuade Jayce as discretely as possible, though Jayce is steadfast in his resolve to root out the corruption, worrying Marcus. While the two talk of the stolen gemstone, Viktor feels his lungs spasm and he turns to cough away from the two. He feels a warm liquid spray out his nose and onto the railing he supports himself on. His hand comes to rub under his nose and he sees blood. His head hurts and his vision tunnels, spiraling until Jayce puts a hand on the smaller manâs bony shoulder.
âViktor-You ok?â He had asked but Viktor brushed him off with a simple response of a headache, which is technically true. Viktor quickly dismisses himself back to his lab.
Down in the Undercity, Ekko keeps a sharp eye on Y/N the whole time. Having to lay low thanks to Jinx stealing the gemstone topside, Ekko has made sure to follow through on his grounding. He remembered when the older boys, specifically Mylo, would still disobey if Vander disciplined them.
Ekkoâs POV
I watch Y/N from up in the tree. Sheâs working on the mural while Kiyi, a young disabled woman with a missing leg is sitting near by, talking with the girl. I sigh.
âLittle Man?â Scar asks, getting my attention.
â6 Enforcers were killed during Jinxâs attack,â he tells me.
âThe Sheriff?â I ask and Scar shakes his head.
âFine. One survived the bombing as well,â he says.
âWhere is he? Whatâs he doing?â I ask.
âIâm not too sure. Last sighting was towards the docksâŚto Stillwater prison,â Scar shakes his head with a shrug but my eyes widen at the mention of the brutal prison. Vi.
âFind him and report back to me. Iâll check him out for myself,â I tell him and he nods.
âSure thing boss,â he says and glances down at Y/N. It looks like Kiyi is comforting the kid. I sigh.
âHey, you did the right thing,â Scar says, getting my attention. I blink and look at him. Being a father of a young infant himself, I know he understands the responsibility of raising someone.
âGrounding Y/N I mean,â he says when I donât answer.
âOh-y-yeahâŚI hope so,â I sigh, leaning on the railing on the wooden platform perched on a thick tree limb.
âKidsâŚthey donât understand that what we do..we do to protect them,â Scar explains. I nod and glance back down at the ground near the mural and see Kiyi managed to calm Y/N down and I release a breath I didnât know I was holding.
3rd POV
Elsewhere in the Undercity, Jinx is in her workshop, looking over Jayceâs notes. Sheâs managed to make a generator that uses the gemstone to create power. OrâŚat least, thatâs the plan. The manic teenager just finished it and is about to test it. Sheâs checking the notebook of research she stole to make sure.
âBoringâŚwow suuuper boring,â she says, laying down on one of the metal fan blades that lay above the mines. She flips the notebook pages and finds something interesting. She sits up and leans forward, focusing on the book.
âHere we go!â She says and looks at the metallic chamber.
âItâs all about these runes. They form this sort of math-y, magic-y gateway,â Jinx explains, showing the book page to the dolls of Mylo and Claggor, âTo the realm of heebie-jeebies. And thisâŚTurns it on,â she says, holding the perfectly spherical, glowing blue gemstone between her thumb and forefinger. She places the gemstone in and the device powers on. The wires glow blue.
âSo..here goes,â Jinx says taking a breath and slowly turns the dial to the right, turning the power up. The homemade device whirrs and hums as the gemstone sparks. Jinxâs eyes widen when the spark turns to an explosion of blue in the blink of an eye, blasting the girl back. She yelps and groans tumbling a bit. The explosion rattles the dolls of Mylo and Claggor and the various items Jinx had nearby. Jinxâs eyes widen as sheâs assaulted of memories from 6yrs ago. Claggor gets hit with one of the unstable blue hexcrystals in the head, instantly killing the boy. Blood splatters a bit just as Mylo gets pierced by a piece of pipe in the chest! The wild-haired boy slams into the wall, breathing hard, numb as he doesnât even cry out in pain. He glances over at Claggor and his eyes widen when he sees his brother is dead. Mylo looks down in shock and sees a rusty metal pipe sticking out of his upper left chest. The boy reaches towards the pipe and when his fingers graze the pipe, searing pain explodes from the injury. A loud cracking sounds gets Myloâs attention and he looks up just as the ceiling caves in on top of both of them, killing Mylo.
Jinx winces, shutting her eyes tightly as her generator sputters out, smoking. The blue light disappears and all thatâs left are little blue flecks of light. Jinx sobs.
âNo! No! It was a mistake! It was a mistake!â She cries as she scrambles to her feet and races to Silcoâs office as fast as she can, leaving behind her stuffed rabbit toy Vi gave her that she calls âMr. Bunnyâ and the flare as well. Electricity crackles in the air as the energy burst finally dies out.
Viâs POV
Iâm standing free for the first time in years. Well, not completely free. But the air is sweet and the sunshine feels almost hot to me. I look down and see the buildings near us and even the one Iâm standing on descends so far down I canât see the end. This is it. This is one of the passages to the Undercity from Topside. Itâs close to how I took Powder and the boys during that botched robbery. I take a breath, hearing a train chugging in the distance. The train car pulls to a stop.
âI heard the bathysphere has a nice view,â that rookie Enforcer who freed me says, looking at the train car. An elderly person with a cane shuffles up the stairs to board.
âThat could be a good way to get a lay of the land,â she tells me. I canât help the instant âyou idiotâ thought that races by but I have to remember that topsiders donât know much aside from their privileged lives.
âToo risky,â I tell her, putting the hood of my shirt up. I jump over the ledge and move on the metal beam I landed on to get closer to a copper green roof. I jump and quickly stabilize myself on the slanted roof to jump over to another, then another! The movements, the action, the speed, itâs all coming back to me from my younger, teenage years. I catch the Rookie looking down at me from where I initially jumped from and see her shake her head slightly before deciding to follow me. Thereâs no way she can catch up.
Caitâs POV
âToo risky,â Vi, the former inmate responds to my rational suggestion of the bathysphere. I watch as she puts her hood up before jumping over the ledge! I gasp.
âWhat?!â I exclaim and hurry over. I watch and see the pink haired, muscular woman run down a metal beam, balancing perfectly despite the great height before jumping down onto an extremely slanted roof but doesnât slip! I watch in awe as she leaps to another rooftop, then to another and another! Each jump she gets further and further away.
âShit,â I shake my head and look down. I scoff slightly before sitting and sliding myself off the edge and look at the metal beam. Itâs really narrow. I carefully slide my feet across, not daring to take actual steps because even doing this causes me to wobble slightly but I keep my arms out and look ahead.
3rd POV
Vi races down and despite the years confined in a cement and metal box, she remembers the movements needed parkour her way down into the Undercity. The pink-haired young woman leaps, pulling her knees in and her arms back as she flies by a painted mural of a woman with long wavy brown hair. Sheâs beautiful. Her flowing gown disappears right at her chest, making a âvâ shape. Vi feels the drop of gravity and flails a bit. She lands on the rooftop of another building and rolls to lessen the impact. Vi gets in between two close buildings and slides down, using a hand and foot on each wall.
Cait slides down the ladder and looks down. She barely sees Vi before the parolee disappears. Cait wobbles and clings to the ladder. Vi leaps over a short metal wall and slides down. Vi slows when she gets to a metal pipe that looks down on buildings crammed together, all bathed in a familiar green light. The Undercity. Vi pants as she looks around and finds a way down. She slides down a metal gutter and hits the ground. Once on stable ground, the young woman takes in the familiar but thick air of the Undercity before lowering her hood.
Nearby, an unsuspecting man with a red jacket whistles at Vi, getting her attention. He saunters up to her, his friend with him also approaching. Once he gets close to Vi, he crawls his fingers on her bare, toned shoulder. He flicks a piece of her dark pink hair. Vi smirks.
âNice jacket,â she comments. The unfamiliar nobody makes a noise of confusion before Vi manages to knock him out with one punch. Blood splatters from his nose and mouth when he hits the ground. His friend looks at Vi and she quickly knocks out the friend as well before taking their clothes. Vi shrugs on the red jacket and quickly fold up the clothes for the Rookie so she wonât stand out more than she already does.
After taking a much longer time than anticipated, Cait slides down the side of a slanted wall and lands on the awning of the building beside it before nearly sliding and falling to the ground. She stumbles a bit, leaning against a building and pants hard when she hears a set of light footsteps near her. The Enforcer turns and sees itâs the old man from topside! It had taken her so long that heâd gotten here! Suddenly something soft hits Caitâs upper body, startling her a bit as she catches a pair of clothes.
âWelcome to the Lanes,â Vi greets, walking up to her.
âYou almost got me killed,â Cait argues.
âOne of my little sisters could do that when she was 7. All us fisherfolk can. Donât you wanna blend in?â Vi asks, walking off. Cait hears a man groan and she turns to see an open garbage bin.
Caitâs POV
âDonât you wanna blend in?â Vi asks me. Iâm reminded of a shooting competition I was in when I just turned 16. I was running through a frosty wood, shooting targets, racing someone. Not just anyone thoughâŚit was Sheriff Grayson. It wasnât just any competition either. It was the Enforcerâs test. A âcompetitionâ to make sure all Enforcers are able to handle a firearm. Iâd gotten to the last target. Grayson was matching me. We aimed. I had shut my eyes and took a breath and in that time, I heard a shift in the snow. I opened my eyes and fired. The bullet it the bullseye, flying through but I knew it wasnât a true win. I looked over and saw Grayson aiming but putting her rifle down. She nods at me and I give return the gesture as good will. But I was upset.
I was so upset I accused her of bribery because I was so sure my parents had paid her to let me win. But she just gave me a small half-smile and explained to me that being an Enforcer means having the power to protect people.
âWhich begs the question young Kiramman, what are you shooting for?â Sheriff Graysonâs voice echoes in my mind.
3rd POV
Back in Piltover, Viktor is able to control the Hexcore to an extent of turning it up, down, left and right. The runes on it glow blue. Jayce is standing in front of a board.
âYou had a vision?â Jayce asks.
âWhat if weâve been looking at it backwards? Weâve been trying to discover runes that invoke specific effects and then molding them to a useful function,â Viktor says as Sky, his assistant, walks over and hands Jayce a blueprint of the Hexcore.
âTools, as you like to put it. But, but..if the legends are true, mages arenât bound to single functions. Itâs said the Arcane speaks through them,â Viktor explains as the Hexcore moves and rotates different pieces with Viktor keeping a watchful eye on it through lenses.
âIâm still not following,â Jayce tells his partner.
âThey think. They adapt,â Viktor says.
âYou think Hextech canâŚlearn?â Jayce asks Viktor, approaching the Zaunite. Viktor turns his right handle and pushes in, locking the mechanism and the Hexcore suddenly emits a beam of light! The scent of electricity is in the air and zaps around Viktor. Jayce flinches away but turns back when it dies out quickly.
âAre you sure this is safe?â Jayce asks.
âOf course not,â Viktor answers as if itâs obvious, though heâs so absorbed in his work, he misses Jayceâs look of concern but he leaves for an opera he knows Mel will be at.
Speaking of concern, itâs the same look Cait gives Vi as she munches down slop that is considered food. Caitâs concern is mixed with disgust as Vi picks up a chunk of what appears to be fish covered in a vague, smelly orange sauce. Cait feels her stomach churn.
âOh, Jericho, have I missed these,â Vi says, holding a fish chunk to the stall owner. He chuckles heartily as he chops up a fish. Vi notices the pair of clear blue eyes on her and offers the Enforcer some of her food. Cait looks at the colorful food and even if it hadnât looked inedible, Viâs hand wraps are covered in blood, dirt and sweat from new to finely aged from prison.
âNo. Thank you,â Cait says.
âYouâre missing out,â Vi says, eating the offered food herself.
âAre you going to question him?â Cait whispers semi-discretely by pulling on the hood of her stolen clothes. Vi glances at Jericho as the chef is unceremoniously scratching his rear.
âDefinitely not above board,â Vi tells Cait.
âSilco. His connections? Isnât that why weâre here?â Cait asks quietly but clearly frustrated.
âWeâre here because Iâm hungry. Do you know what prison food is like? No, of course you donât,â Vi answers back cooly before finishing off the last fish chunk and licking her fingers.
âUnbelievable. I didnât break you out of jail to eatâŚslop!â Cait hisses angrily, starting to pace anxiously, âI knew this was a terrible idea. You donât actually know anything, do you?â
Vi finishes the bowl and wipes her mouth with her hand.
âMmm, better than I remember,â Vi tells Jericho. The one-eyed chef chuckles and exchanges her empty bowl for a paper napkin. Vi lifts up the corner and sees the symbol for Babbetteâs. The two exchange a look before Vi walks off with Caitlyn following.
Ekkoâs POV
Iâve heard the Enforcers are starting to get more aggressive. While making sure everyoneâs been ok, I havenât checked on Y/N for a while, so when Scar offers to take watch, I start walking around, looking for the little girl. I check our room first and donât see her. Ok. Maybe the mural? I hurry to the adjacent platform and get a view of the beautiful painting. But no Y/N. Where is she? Who was with her earlier? Senna? No..no, it was Kiyi. I have to find Kiyi.
I find the young woman sitting with friends chatting when she catches my eye.
âOh, hey Ekko,â she greets.
âHey Kiyi, you seen Y/N?â He asks.
âIâŚthought she went home? She told me she was going home hours ago,â she says.
âSheâs not in the storage house?â She asks me and I shake my head. Oh no. I race around and ask Scar if heâs seen her.
âYou donât think she left do you?â Scar asks.
âI think sheâs as stubborn as Vi and can be as unpredictable as Jinx. Anythingâs possible with her,â I say.
âGood point,â he admits, knowing how the young girl is. After searching the whole Sanctuary and even the areas surrounding us, I find no sign of the kid I consider to be my younger sister. I sigh.
âDammit,â I say under my breath before starting a search party with Scar.
Readerâs POV
I know Ekko will be mad at me, but if I want to see my sisters again, I have to do it myself. Ekko just wants to protect me and I love him, I also still love Vi and..and Jinx. I want it to be how it was. I want Vi and Jinx to come back. They can live with us at the Sanctuary. Iâm not sure how Ekko would feel about that but heâd do it if I convinced him. I left no trace of my leaving and make my way through the Undercity, being careful and alert like Ekko taught me.
3rd POV
Elsewhere in the Undercity, Jinx approaches the ruined arcade that hasnât been touched since that day the Enforcers barged in on the kids. She carefully steps through the shattered glass window and the broken pieces crack under her boots. She rubs the dust between her fingers as she looks around. Everything is the same, covered in a thick layer of dust and cobwebs. Jinx walks until she steps on something metallic. She looks down and seeâs the metal plate with Myloâs face drawn on from the boxing machine.
âHmph,â Jinx bends down to pick it up, brushing off the dust. Itâs a weird feeling for the girl. Myloâs been gone for 6yrs, but to Jinx, heâs never really been gone. Heâs always with her, just like Claggor and Vi.
âOh whatâs the matter Mylo? You worried Powderâs gonna beat you again?â Claggorâs voice echoâs in Jinxâs head as she stands. She glances at the scoreboard when the sudden chirping of a crow snaps the girlâs attention in an instant. She grabs her pistol and aims right at the bird. It caws once and cocks its head. Jinx mimics the movement before shooting the bird dead. She blows the smoke off her pistol before twirling it and sheathing it back at her side as she walks up to the boxing machine.
Memories of a teenage Vi assault Jinx. She remembers how her sister would move with quick precision. Jinx examines the metal frame where the plate goes and puts it in, dusting her hands off. She looks around and finds a metal piece thatâs supposed to go into the boxing machine. After eyeing it to make sure itâs ok, she blows the dust off before inserting it. Jinx flips a switch and metal starts powering up. She pushes a lever up which causes a yellow liquid, presumably gasoline to power up the machine. The lights turn on to illuminate the area as Jinx stands before the game.
âVander,â Jinx hearâs Viâs voice.
âBecause youâre a jinx!â Viâs voice snaps angrily. Jinx remembers her screaming, her sobbing and pleading for Vi.
âWhat makes you different makes you strong,â Viâs voice tells her as Jinx remembers when Vi would love her, stroking her cheek and brushing the hair off her face. But it didnât matter now. The pain of what happened tainted everything. Vi had slapped her. That night still fresh in her mind. A tender touch turned violent. Jinxâs eyes snap open and she starts swinging, hitting the metal plate with her unprotected fist.
Jinx remembers sitting with her sisters on the roof of the Last Drop thatâs contrasted with Vi grabbing her face and yelling at her. Jinx dodges and hits again and again, dodging out of the way. She grunts a bit, remembering how a teenage Vi would move, though instead of Viâs precise punches, Jinx was wild with her swings and kicks, something Vi didnât do. The scoreboard changes, launching Powâ up the leaderboard.
Jinx attacks wildly, almost uncontrolled as she lets the trauma of what happened consume her. Yelling with each hit, grunting until she remembers being told to stay behind. She was alone in the basement.
âRAAAHHHH!!!â The memory of Powder screams.
âAAAGGHHH!!!â Jinx screams, unaware of the tears streaming down her face as she hits the old padding as hard as she can. The teen pants heavily, sweating as she hears the scoreboard change. She looks up and sees her name just below Viâs #1 spot. She groans angrily before grabbing her pistol and shooting the metal plate.
Vi heads towards the Last Drop, a place she considered home for a good portion of her life. She stops on a metal bridge to look down at the glowing green sign. Different owner different color. Caitlyn approaches and looks down to see a brawl in front of the bar.
âWell, that place does look like it has bodies buried in the basement,â Caitlyn comments off-handedly, angering Vi. Viâs grip on the metal rail tightens. That was the specific room where she and her siblings lived.
âYou donât know anything,â Vi growls angrily, shoving Caitlynâs shoulder as she walks past the rookie Enforcer, who just gives her a look, not understanding Viâs anger. Vi heads to Margotâs Pleasure House, the place on the napkin Jericho gave her.
Back in Piltover, Councilor Medarda has warned Jayce that by shutting down the Hexgate, heâs made an enemy of everyone else in the Council, so he must regain their favor by schmoozing. Viktor had opposed when Jayce talked to him but Jayce insisted he had to attend an opera musical performance, so Viktor merely sighed and told him to go. At the opera, Mel had pointed out who did what, and when Jayce questioned the legality, Mel had aâŚtwist to it. She advised Jayce to offer something the other Councilors would want: to be Hextech partners (despite already having one in Viktor).
Having to make a split second decision, Mel had gotten the attention of an older Councilor who was particularly upset with Enforcers searching her home, due to Jayceâs new order of security. The musician plays solo on stage as they talk. After Jayce takes Melâs advice and offers the Councilwoman a deal with all new hextech creations, the two shake hands.
âHow can I reject such an auspicious offer?â She replies as they shake. He smiles and nods.
As the music swells, itâs all a blur for Jayce. He has to keep track of everything he has to say to these council members. Drinks clink together. Jayce shakes so many hands. Heimerdinger, having bought seat tickets to the event, is sitting near the front enjoying the show, completely unaware of Jayce and his dealings with the council members.
The music comes to an end and the musician bows and everyone, including the council members, clap. Mel looks at Jayce with slight pride. Heâs learning his role as a council member, despite not wanting it.
Viâs POV
We get to Babbetteâs and I knock on the door. The window slides open and through the metal bars I see the guard look at us. I look back at him and he sighs before unlocking the door and opening it.
I look down the dark hall to hear laughing. The only light are the few candles lining the hall.
âThe one place all the secrets are spilled,â I tell her and walk in. She sighs and follows me. I hear a chuckle along with some others chatting elsewhere. I glance through a beaded doorway and see someone taking a puff off a pipe. The smoke is purple like Shimmer. We pass an open bathroom with someone actively bathing, enjoying someone else and the Enforcer peeks in before catching up to me.
âHow exactly do you propose we go about this?â She asks me, stopping. Someone in a full body leather suit with a gag walks by.
âLet âem think you work here,â I answer obviously.
âExcuse me? I will not,â She says, clearly caught off guard.
âYou know what your problem is?â I ask, walking up to the Rookie.
âPlease. Tell me,â she replies sarcastically with an eye roll.
âYou expect everyone to give you what you want. If you really want people to talk to you, you have to let them think you have what they want,â I explain, pacing around her.
âAnd what do I have?â She asks. I look her up and down before stepping into her space.
âYouâre hot, cupcake,â I tell her and she backs into the wall, I put a hand on the wall next to her.
âSo whatâll it be, man or woman?â I ask.
âUhm-..â She stutters just as someone in a blue suit and white mask walks by. I grab his arm and pull him towards us.
âHi, I-Iâm Pim. Whatâs your name?â The man, Pim, stutters.
âMatilda. But you can call her whatever you want,â I say, glancing at the Enforcer. She her eyes widen and she gasps slightly before smiling.
âAh, y-yes. M-Matilda. My parents named me Matilda. After my great-grandmother Matilda, the, uh..-â she lies horribly. But that doesnât matter. Iâll ditch her here after I go talk to Margot.
I slip down the hall quietly before getting to her office. I walk in and she looks up at me from some sort of paperwork on her desk.
âWould you believe it?â She asks, clearly not expecting me.
Ekkoâs POV
Iâm pacing around, waiting to hear from someone, anyone, when I see a streak of green light in the sky. It flies down and I see itâs Scar on his hoverboard.
âLittle man-we donât have confirmation, but we think thereâs activity going on near the Lanes. Two guys who got beat up and robbed says it was a woman with pink hair,â he says.
âWhat? A-Are you sure?!â I demand and he nods. I look away, trying to think. It might not be Vi, but if it isâŚIf Y/N finds out about her, she might want to tell Jinxâ
âThereâs something else,â Scar says, getting my attention.
âWhat is it?â I ask.
âThere was someone else with her. A female Enforcer, âbout the same age,â he says. My eyes widen. All Enforcers work for Silco. None of them can be trusted. If one is with Vi, then that means she must work for him as well.
âWhereâd they go?â I ask.
âBabbetteâs, not sure why,â Scar answers.
âKeep an eye on them. It might be Vi, it might not, but we have to know where the Enforcer is,â I explain and Scar nods.
âSure thing boss,â he says.
âAny sign of Y/N?â I ask and he shakes his head sadly.
âSheâs small and sheâs quick. None of us could track her, she practically disappeared. Iâm not sure where she went,â he says. I sigh and rub my temple.
âAlright, thanks for looking,â I say.
âWeâll keep up the search until sheâs back,â he assures me. I nod and do my best to reassure everyone that overheard our conversation that the Enforcer is no threat to us. That we are well hidden and fortified in the Undercity so well that not even Silco has threatened us.
3rd POV
The industrialist walks into his office as Marcus, the Sheriff, twirls the same blood soaked coin from all those years ago in the alley where Sheriff Grayson and Benzo were killed.
âSheriff, what a lovely surprise,â Silco says, walking over to sit down at his desk.
âThe Hextech wonderboy is on the Council now, and heâs asking questions. Itâs only a matter of time before he finds the truth,â Marcus says with a biting tone.
âWhat is truth, but a survivorâs story?â Silco asks as he opens one of his desk drawers.
âIf Iâm discovered, weâre both finished,â Marcus threatens. Silco pulls out a metal homemade grenade thatâs covered in the symbol of the Firelight leader, but in Jinxâs classic pink and blue colors.
âGood thing youâve located proof of the Firelightsâ involvementâ Silco says. Marcus approaches and picks up the grenade.
âThis has gone too far,â he says, looking at the explosive device. It has a green light on it and metal things that look like teeth.
Marcusâs POV
For some reason, the chomping teeth of the grenade feels familiar to me, but I canât place it. My eyes spot the pin and I thumb it. Silco notices.
âHmm? Imagining yourself a hero? One final act to make you the martyr youâve always seen yourself as?â Silco asks with a chuckle. I want to do it. I want to kill him. I could do it. I can do it. I pant slightly before screaming, pulling the pin. The grenade flashes pink and Silcoâs eyes widen as we are enveloped in a fiery explosion.
âThen whatâre you waiting for?â Silco asks, getting my attention. Just a fantasy.
I look at the grenade before sighing. I wanted to pull the pin. I wanted to so bad. But I couldnât. We lock eyes for a moment before I walk out with the grenade, hoping this will stall Councilor Talis.
Jinxâs POV
Unbeknownst to Sheriff Marcus, I was up in the rafters the whole time.
âAh, heâs faltering. You need to weaponize the Hextech soon,â Silco tells me. I shut my eyes.
âI canât do it. JustâŚgive it to the doctor,â I reply, trying not to succumb to the intense emotions.
âYouâre the only one I can trust with this, Jinx,â Silco argues rationally. I have to tell him.
âI keep seeing themâŚthat day,â I admit. I watch as he stands and glances up at me.
âFear haunts us all, child,â he says. Heâs told me before that we are the same. Both of us betrayed by a sibling.
âCome with me. I want to show you something,â he says and I obediently follow him out.
3rd POV
Silco leaves the bar with Jinx. Unbeknownst to them, they are being watched by Y/N, who is hiding in Benzoâs boarded up shop. She managed to sneak in through Little Manâs secret hideout. As much as Y/N wants to go after Jinx, she knows she canât, not while Silcoâs around.
Back at Babbetteâs, Vi is sitting in the brothel ownerâs office. Viâs fists are clenched lightly.
âSweetheart, I was real sad to hear about Vander. And the kids. Just terrible,â Babbette tells Vi. Her fists loosen a bit.
âBy the looks of it, no one down here lifted a finger to stop Silco,â Vi argues.
âA few tried but Silcoâs got the muscleâŚand the money,â Babbette explains, âhe took over the Last Drop.â
âI saw,â Vi says, leaning forward with her elbows on her knees.
âThings have changed without Vander looking out for us,â Babbette says, taking a drag off her cigarette.
âHave you heard anything about Powder? I think Silco has her,â Vi asks. Babbette gives her a sad look and shakes her head.
âWhat about Y/N?â Vi asks.
âThe Firelights. Sheâd hang around with them,â Babbette says.
âI have to find them,â Vi says, standing up.
âSilcoâs number twoâs a regular. I can have Miguel tell you where to find her,â Babbette explains, talking of the âregularâ.
âI owe you,â Vi tells Babbette and walks out.
âItâs nothing,â she says after Vi leaves.
Vi walks back down the hall and passes a room where the Enforcer is. She giggles, getting Viâs attention. Vi stops and glances over to see the Enforcer charming another woman and Vi smiles. Well Iâll be damn, Vi thinks to herself, scoffing lightly.
Reader POV
Since I canât go after Jinx, I have to try Vi. I canât be certain since Iâve only overheard mere words, but I think Vi might be in the Undercity. If I can find Vi, then together, the two of us can get Jinx ourselves and take her back to the Sanctuary. Then we can finally be a whole family again. I glance around and look for anything that might help. I search Uncle Benzoâs desk. I walk behind and-
âAgh!â I yelp in surprise when I see Uncle Benzoâs skeleton! Reddish brown hair clings to the skull and the clothes are dusty and ragged. Bits of muscle and skin are still visible around his stomach, chest and upper arms and legs. Not quite all the way rotted. Maybe in another 6yrs. So thatâs what Huck did with the pawn shop ownerâs body. I look around and spot a black book. The first page says âcontactsâ. First is Jericho but the secondâŚthe second one is Babbette. Maybe sheâd know something about Vi, since Ekko is soâŚstubborn about telling me.
Making my way out through the ventilation shaft to Ekkoâs secret hideout, I hop from the rooftop onto the ladder and climb down.
Viâs POV
I find Miguel and he tells me itâs Sevika thatâs the regular.
âSevika? Sheâs alive?!â I ask incredulously and he nods.
âSheâs Silcoâs number 2,â Miguel explains.
âWhere is she?â I ask.
âShe normally plays cards with the scum that hang around, just past Jerichoâs stand I think,â Miguel says. I nod.
âThanks Miguel,â I say and he nods. He was in his mid 20s when I was 16, so he must be in his early 30s now?
âYour old manâŚhe really was the glue that held this community together,â Miguel says and I nod.
âI know,â I say and we part ways. I walk out, leaving the Enforcer behind. Itâs not that I want to escape, itâs that I donât want to involve her in the fight Iâm going to have with Sevika.
Reader POV
I make sure to keep to myself, my head down, though I make sure to look up occasionally to make sure Iâm still going the right way. I gasp when I see a couple people that I know work for Silco, walk around. I turn and head the opposite way, making sure to stay clear of them. I donât really know much about Babbette other than what my older siblings told me 6 years ago.
âSheâs a nice lady but sheâs in a dirty business,â Claggor had told me. I didnât understand at the time, being only 4, but now that Iâm older, I understand itâs prostitution. A whorehouse. A place people go for drugs and sex.
I spot the building down the street. Thatâs when I spot someone. I see someone who looks from the UndercityâŚthe clothes are non-descript and the jacket obscures the personâs upper body but the bright, spiky, shaggy pink hair sticks out above everything else and my eyes widen.
âVi,â I gasp. I watch as the woman I think is Vi walk down the street and turn the corner. I canât let her get away! I climb up a ladder and onto a roof. I hop along the close-together rooftops, the buildings practically crammed together, careful to keep out of sight, moving in the shadows. I feel my lungs constrict and vibrate slightly from the asthma I have. I slow down a bit, letting Vi get further away but I think I know where sheâs going.
3rd POV
Back in Piltover, Viktor works hard in the lab while Mel and Jayce fall into their emotions. Sky tries to ask Viktor if he has plans after work, but he shuts her down, saying he will probably just sleep there. Sky tries hard not to take it personally, after all, Viktor is dying and has only a certain amount of time left. But she wished she could show him how to enjoy the time he does have.
Sky leaves the workaholic Viktor to his evolving Hexcore that now has multiple glowing blue runes on it. It moves up and down, left to right, turning, clickingâŚadapting. Viktor is desperate for anything but no matter the combination of runes, nothing works. He slams his desk angrily, shoving his chair back, making papers fly off the desk. He gasps a bit and looks at the Hexcore. His vision is starting to tunnel. Viktor stumbles forward, coughing into his hand, blood splattering on his fingers and onto the desk. All while Jayce his having sex with Mel, unaware that someone heâs close it is literally dying. Viktor slips off the desk and slumps to the floor, passed out, knocking his cane over.
While Viktor is out, the Hexcore starts crackling with electricity. Viktorâs blood on the desk is so close that the Hexcore starts to attract it. The red liquid slowly moves towards the Hexcore before a drop of blood rises up and fuses with the Hexcore!
In the Undercity, Silco has taken Jinx to the water where Vander nearly killed him.
âI almost drowned in these waters,â Silco tells Jinx.
âYou told me a million times,â Jinx complains, rolling her eyes.
âVander wasnât the man you thought he was,â Silco continues.
âRight, he was like a brother to you, and he turned his back and blah, blah, blah. Did I miss anything?â Jinx asks bored. Silco snickers.
âIâve got a new one for you,â Silco tells her, running his fingers in the cool, contaminated water. It drips off his hand and Jinx watches intently.
âThat day, I let a weak man die,â Silco says before crouching down, dunking himself in, sloshing the water. He returns after a second and wipes his face and hair back.
âAnd another was reborn. Betrayal, that pain that feels like itâll eat you from the inside out, can either break you or forge you into something greater,â Silco says as Jinx looks at him before looking away.
âYou need to let Powder die,â Silco says, the old name making her look at him, âSo the fear of pain will no longer control you.â He explains, offering a hand.
Jinx moves to take it and walks towards him, grabbing his first two fingers, much like she did as a little girl, when they first met.
âYouâre strong now. Just like you were always meant to be. Jinx is perfect,â Silco tells his daughter. She steps to him and he gently cups the back of her head, still holding her hand with the other. He gives her a small reassuring smile before letting her lay down in the water. The teenager exhales and Silco gives her a look as if to say âready, now,â before letting her dip below the surface of the water.
Viâs POV
I pull up my hood and walk down the street, unaware that Iâm being followed. All I care about is finding Sevika. I thought she died. I swear I thought she died. I saw herâŚthen Vanderâthe buildingâshe was in there-butâŚif Margot says sheâs aliveâŚI have to get to her.
I walk past a few people, bumping into one who grumbles, calling me a bitch and flipping me off, but I keep moving. I stop behind a corner as it opens to a small courtyard between buildings. Sevika is sitting at a card table, playing with two guys. One of them, I recognize. Sheâs smoking a cigarette. I glare at her, fiery rage is all I feel when I see her for betraying Vander.
3rd POV
Luckily Heimerdinger was staying late and managed to find Viktor and get him to the hospital. The head of the academy also called Jayce to inform him of whatâs happened. While Mel sleeps, Jayce slips out and joins Viktor in his hospital room. Mel wakes up and finds her bed empty as Jayce asks about Viktor when the man wakes.
âJayce?â Viktor asks.
âViktorâthe doctors uhm..âthey-â Jayce tries telling him but Viktor sighs defeatedly.
âHow much time do I have?â He asks as Sevika plays the Death and Magician cards in the game, winning.
âRotten luck boys,â she says, putting her lit cigarette back in her mouth.
Viâs POV
I race towards Sevika as she reaches to grab the pot winnings of the game and slam my knee into her cheek! Cards, money and Sevikaâs cigarette goes flying. She drops to the ground and the two men playing her look at me with a gasp. The one with a prosthetic nose is the same guy from that street fight after the robbery gone wrong 6 years ago. I had to help Mylo with him by slamming a 2x4 of wood into his face, bashing his nose in. If he recognized me, he made no motion of it as the two run away cowardly.
âVi?â Sevika asks as she gets to her knees. I storm up to her. She tries to backhand me as she stands but I dodge easily and grab the dark skinned woman by her ponytail. I turn and slam the older woman into the concrete wall, pinning her arm behind her and her head against the wall.
âYou filthy traitor,â I growl.
âVander had his chance,â she snarls back. Thatâs when I see a glowing purple light under the cloak sheâs wearing. The arm Iâm holding suddenly moves and when it does I hear a mechanical whirring noise. The arm moves unnaturally, breaking free of my grip. She kicks me back and I fall to the ground. As Sevika stalks up to me, she takes off the cloak and I see a mechanical arm! I gasp. I watch as a vial of Shimmer pops up at her shoulder and turns, clicking in place. The Shimmer travels down the whole arm, powering it up. She uses it to motion at me and I stand up. I shrug off my red jacket and take a couple of test punches as she blocks them easily. I swing forward and her metal arm catches and locks in place, trapping me!
âI see you never learned patience,â she says before head butting me and punching my stomach. I hit the wall behind me and gasp at the hard hit. I see her swing at me with that metal arm and I duck. I hit her ribcage but she tanks it so I swing at her face and she merely grunts. I dodge one of her punches from her normal arm so when she tries with her mechanical one, Iâm able to grab hold of the upper area and and uppercut her face. She yanks back and tries again, but I dodge, moving to her side. I get in a quick hit to her side before punching her face again. She staggers back and I leap up into the air and swing as hard as I can, feeling my fist connect with her cheek. She goes down, panting a bit and sweating. The Shimmer canister raises and injects itself again. Sevika glares at me, her dark eyes now a sickly purple as she growls at me. She grabs a metal drum and tosses it up before punching it at me! I run to dodge but the Shimmer gives her incredible strength and speed as she bodies me into the wall! I yelp as her hand comes up to wrap around my neck. Iâm reminded of the fight with Shimmer Deckard 6 years ago. I tried charging him and he caught me by my neck. Now itâs Sevika. She picks me up and slams me into a wooden crate, hitting the hard ground. I groan as she drags me by my neck and I try prying her metal hand off, but itâs no use! She picks me up and pins me against the wall, luckily she let go of my neck, but her forearm is pressed against my cheek. The Shimmer is hot.
Because sheâs so close, I manage to knee her crotch. She grunts in pain and bends forward. I wind back with both fists and hit her back as hard as I can before grabbing hold of her torso and tossing the woman into the wall. She grunts, panting and I stagger a bit from the effort. I make the same âcome get meâ hand motion at her that she did to me earlier as I breathe hard. Sevika grunts and gets up, trying to swing at me, but I back up, dodging and hit her. I lead her into a narrow area between two buildings. I uppercut her jaw before slamming her head into the wall. I punch her and slam her head into the adjacent wall before speed punching her stomach and grabbing her head and collide my knee with her face. I pant heavily, covered in bruises, blood, and sweat. We both breathe heavily as Sevika gets to her feet. I growl and see a wooden gate behind her. I race towards Sevika, jump, and kick as hard as I can, hitting the ground myself but I hear her body crash through the wood and hit the street behind the gate.
She coughs and spits some blood out but I manage to step on her metal arm as she rolls onto her back, unaware we are being watched by someone. Sevika groans.
âWhereâs my sister? Where is he keeping her?â I demand, winding back for another hit as I hold Sevika by her neck.
âKeeping her? You mean Jinx?â She asks me. My eyes widen at the name and I glare at her.
âShe works for him,â Sevika says and I gasp. Clearly caught off guard, Sevika takes the opportunity to shank my side, piercing my flesh. I grunt. Sevika comes to my ear.
âSheâs like his daughter,â Sevika says of Powder before shoving me to the ground. I fall easily as I feel something warm and liquid run down to my hip. I groan as I try to crawl away, but Sevika walks up to me, grabbing my cheeks in her normal hand.
âIâll give her your regards,â Sevika says, her metal arm winding back for a hit. Her shoulder Shimmer canister raises and when it does, a single gunshot rings out and shatters the mechanism, making Sevika recoil, letting me go. Sevika looks to where the shot came from to see the Enforcer I left behind at Margotâs, standing on a bridge, aiming her rifle right at her. The Enforcer gets another shot off, but hits Sevikaâs metal shoulder as she runs off, getting away.
âWhy did you let her get a way?â I ask on my knees on the ground as the Enforcer approaches cautiously.
âDo you ever say âthank youâ?â she asks back, putting her rifle away.
âHeâs gonna know weâre here now,â I warn.
âWhose fault is that?â She asks. I smirk half heartedly as I feel blood drip out of me.
âYouâre an alright shot,â I admit.
âIâm an excellent shot,â she corrects. I want to tell her that I would know but I keep my mouth shut. I sigh.
âYou gonna help me out, cupcake?â I ask, holding a hand up to her.
âStop calling me that. My name is Caitlyn,â she says as she hauls me to my feet.
âBut youâre so sweet, like a cupcake,â I tell her as I lean heavily on her, my arm draped over her shoulders, unaware we are being watched. Caitlyn chuckles.
âShut up,â she replies as we walk.
Caitâs POV
As I let Vi lean on me, I canât help but think of that shooting test and what Sheriff Grayson asked me.
âWhat are you shooting for?â She asked. At the time, I didnât have an answer. But nowâŚnow I think I do. Iâm shooting for ViâŚfor people like Vi. People that need help whether they be in the lowest parts of the Undercity or the highest seat of the Council in Piltover. Iâm an Enforcer because I can help this city. I know I can.
Reader POV
I watch Viâs fight with Sevika and resist the urge to call out to her. I wince with every hit Vi takes and when Sevika stabs Vi, I find a way down to the ground off the roofs but by the time I could get down, Sevika was gone. I saw no sign of her and after watching the Enforcer pick up Vi, I run back to a side alley and thatâs when my eyes immediately meet Sevikaâs! I gasp and immediately run to hide. I canât tell if sheâs chasing meâI donât think she is, but either way, I think I might have to tell Ekko since Iâm pretty sure Sevika will tell Silco about me at the very least.
3rd POV
As Sevika rounds the corner, panting, covered in blood, she is shocked to see a young girl looking at her. Their eyes meet and the girl gasps and quickly disappears. At first, she appeared to be a random street urchin. ButâŚthe eyes. Sevika will always remember the eyes of those 3 sisters Vander adopted. Vi with her ice cold, tough eyes, Jinx with her thousand-yard stare and unhinged look and Y/NâŚY/Nâs eyes always had a brightness that never dulled, no matter how rough the Undercity was. She had the courage and bravery of Vi but the wild, unpredictability of Jinx and a unique light that was all her own. Despite all 3 not having the same eye color, you can tell they are related. And thatâs what Sevika knew. She knew this girlâŚthis girl was the youngest of the sisters. Jinxâs little sister!
As Jinx perfects the energy capacitor, Sevika manages to limp back to Silcoâs office.
âYouâre making a mess,â Silco tells Sevika as he applies makeup to his scarred eye. Jinx spins in her chair, watching her successful test as Sevika approaches Silcoâs desk.
âThe sistersâŚtheyâre back,â Sevika says and Silcoâs eyes widen as he whips around in his chair.
âFrom the dead?!â He demands.
END.

There was a certain look that consumed Jinx's face when she was in the midst of a vision. Her eyes would go wide, and her neck would draw into her shoulders. He noticed her breathing, her trembling, her wavering. The power of her mind was a heavy burden to carry upon her small framed shoulders, but one she managed for the past years he had known her. He knew the moment she kicked his desk that Mylo had more than likely made his presence known.
She was eager to move past it -- to show him her new invention -- and so he made no mention of it. Instead, he focused on the fish danging from her clenched teeth, limply hanging above the metallic jaws made of sharpened, jagged teeth. It was dropped, an the jaws closed. With a spritz of fish blood splashing across his desk, Silco sat an inch or two backward, avoiding most of the mess, himself. Only a couple of drops managed to get onto the tip of his boot. He briefly regarded the sullied papers, casting the thought of replacing them to the side, for now.
She wasn't done yet, and he was ready to watch more.
In a show of her inventions new purpose, she pried the fish out of its clenched teeth, ripping away a significant amount of flesh as she did so. His eye widened a fraction as he recognized the potential, putting it together just as she explained it proudly. A half-mauled sardine was placed into his hands, and he pinched its tail to let it hang from his fingers as he looked it over. He could imagine it now: A Firelight having to make the choice to tear their own flesh apart or be killed.
A small smirk came to his face as he dangled the fish, then dropping it back into the bowl as he stood up from his chair. He reached over, brushing the loose tassels of blue from her face and cupping her cheek in his hand. "Good work. It will have them thinking twice before even trying to confront you." His hand slipped away, resting on her shoulder instead. "It will be the death they deserve, if they do."
His eyes glanced over to the stacks of paper work he had yet to finish, his chest deflating with a sigh through his nostrils. He had no mind to complete the rest of it, right now. He would much rather have spent some quality time with his daughter, his vision for Zaun. "... This room is growing too small for us, at the moment," he reasoned, his other hand moving to toy with the end of one of her braids. "We should head downstairs for a drink to celebrate your new gadget. Thieram can make you your favorite."
The bowl with sardines in gravy had been an attempt to get Silco to have some lunch. Judging by the fish with the two measly bites in it, it had not really succeeded in its purpose. But hey, maybe the thought counted. If Jinx were honest, Jericho's meals tasted best when they were warm, if not piping hot. Not this ludicrous pile of cold clumps.
As Jinx picked out a still intact sardine and pulled it out of the bowl, her gaze followed Silco's to see what had caught his attention and caused his brief sneer. On the ground level, she could make out Ran and a few of the gang members. Dustin came leaping at them from the side, giggling and babbling as Ran raised their metal hand and put him off.
Jinx's sapphire-blue gaze laser-focused on that same hand. Was it even a hand? Wasn't it still nothing but a bloodied stomp, clasped around by a hand as a body writhed on the floor?
"My hand... my hand... my hand..."
Ran's voice had been strained back then, raspy from pain, and yet, despite its hoarseness, it had been so very loud. Jinx's stomach knotted. Her body turned rigid. No, she was trashing, wasn't she? Surely, she must be trashing right now? Even with Sevika holding her back.
"I didn't mean to! It was an accident!"
Was she holding the device in her hands or was that the misfired Chomper, metal casing ripped open and ashen, yet oh, so bloody at the same time?
"Calm yourself. You are freaking everyone out!"
"That child should have never been sent into battle!"
The world felt muffled. Jinx's ears rang and her throat was gummy. She almost dropped the slippery fish on the desk. As Silco turned around, his infected, fiery orange eye was covered by a purple X. Jinx didn't even register him extinguishing his cigar and sitting down. Only when her father spoke, did it feel like reality came crashing back in like a broken mirror.
"Show me."
The cadenza was calm and orderly. He may as well have told that brutish bear Sevika to cut somebody down. Jinx involuntarily shifted around on her spot to risk the urge to jump startled like a cat when confronted with a cucumber.
"You didn't pay attention. He's gonna notice", Mylo sneered to her left, causing Jinx to kick harshly against the desk as if that action could shut him up.
"Right!", Jinx said, "Just a moment, please!"
Fury at her own shortcoming, no matter how brief it was, was etched into her facial features. Jinx clamped her teeth around the tail of the sardine to keep it out of the way. She put the miniature bear trap on the desk and forced its jaws open after some effort. Dangling the sardine precariously over the open maw, Jinx let go of both items at the same time.
KA-TSHACK!
The bear trap snapped shut around the sardine. They could hear a horrific squelching noise as iron teeth burrowed themselves into the fish's flesh, ripping through its scales. Blood sprinkled against Jinx's cheek and some drops landed on the desk. She raised her pointing fingers in a silent demand to wait as she wasn't done. Jinx picked up the impaled fish in one hand and grabbed the bear trap with the other. Pulling backwards as tightly as she could manage, Jinx finally yanked the fanged maw away from the fish.
As she did so, the beartrap ripped out a massive chunk of meat, almost costing the fish its innards. Blood splattered on the desk and sullied some of the papers. Jinx's sapphire-blue eyes glowed in wild recognition, joy and ecstasy. Her plan worked exactly as she had intended for it. Grinning manically, she placed the mutilated fish into Silco's hand, so he could examine the gruesome work.
Excitedly, Jinx recounted: "Remember how there is that tiny window from when I pull the pin of my Chompers to before they go off? Well, I noticed that some of the Firelights actually have fast enough reflexes to pull the Chomper off themselves and throw it away, so it doesn't explode on them. I have been thinking of finding a way, that punishes this. So, I decided to give them better teeth. Bigger and sharper and hooked. If they are now trying to do the whole pulling off, not only does it take longer, but they also risk a fatal injury. Plus if they do not throw the Chomper away fast enough, it blows up their arm. Either way, they have almost no chance of survival. Plus it is horrifying and monstrous and that means it's a good death, right, Papa?"

Summary: A collection of one-shots set during the time-skip, mostly centered around Jinx growing up as Silco's adopted daughter. Many will likely involve Sevika, whether she likes it or not. Lots of awkward, funny, and good family feels.
Chapters will not necessarily be in chronological order, nor do they require that any other chapter be read for clarity.
AN: This has been posted on AO3 for quite some time. I'm just now getting around to posting it here.
TW: Very mild mentions of blood
Jinx stood in the middle of Silcoâs office, staring awkwardly at her feet as she shuffled them in place. Sevika sat sprawled out on the couch, looking rather perturbed as usual. Silco sat in his high back chair patiently waiting for Jinx to explain something to him.
âWhatâs the problem, Jinx?â Silco gently prodded.
âI-IâmâŚâ Jinx stammered, trying to speak quietly, âIâm bleeding.â
Silcoâs brows furrowed. âWhere?â he asked, his gaze slowly wandering up and down Jinxâs small form, but there were no signs of a wound, or blood for that matter. âDo you need help mending it?â
âNo, I uhmâŚâ Jinx continued to struggle, glancing over her shoulder at Sevika who seemed more interested in her mechanical arm than anything that Jinx had to say. âItâs⌠between my legs,â she sputtered.
Sevikaâs eyes suddenly widened and her attention turned to Silco. He wore a look of absolute confusion and was eyeing Jinxâs pants again for any sign of blood. Sevika quickly stood and made her way to Silcoâs side. She bent down, bringing her mouth close to his ear to whisper something out of Jinxâs range. Shear panic spread across Silcoâs face as he slowly turned his head to gaze up at Sevika.
âWhat? What do-â Now Silco was struggling to form words.
Sevika turned to Jinx, who looked just as horrified as Silco. Shaking her head in disgust, Sevika stood up and attempted an explanation to clear the air, âJust to make sure everyone understands whatâs going on here, Jinx is menstruating. This is completely normal for girls to start at this age.â Jinxâs cheeks flushed in embarrassment, her gaze on the floor. Realizing her boss was completely clueless as to how to handle this, Sevika released a heavy sigh. âI can give her some of my product to hold her over for now, but youâll need to get her more for the future,â she said, addressing the still floundering Silco. There wasnât much that left the Eye of Zaun speechless and without a plan, but apparently female reproductive health was one of those few. Seeing as Sevika was not going to get any form of response from him, she nodded her head towards the door for Jinx to follow.
Reluctantly, Jinx trailed behind Sevika, dragging her feet as she went. Once they were gone, Silco sat back in his chair and carded a hand through his hair which had somehow ended up looking just as ruffled as he felt.
âThis shit is not what I signed up for,â Sevika snarled to herself, but plenty loud enough for Jinx to hear. She glanced back at Jinx who was staring at her feet as she followed, cheeks still pink from a mix of embarrassment and now probably anger for having to bring Sevika into the ordeal. âDidnât you learn about any of this from your sister?â Sevika snarled. Jinx only scowled, offering no reply.
The two of them ducked into a small bathroom, closing the door behind them. Jinx fidgeted with the end of one of her braids while Sevika rummaged through something on one of the counters.
âHere,â Sevika snapped, shoving several small cylinder-shaped packages in front of Jinxâs face.
Jinx took them and gave them a once over before looking up to Sevika for more information.
âTake one out of the wrapper and shove it between your legs,â Sevika sneered, her lips curling in a smirk. She was clearly amused with Jinxâs discomfort.
Jinxâs eyes widened for just a moment. âWill⌠Will it stop?â she asked, just above a whisper.
âBleeding?â Sevika questioned. She chuckled mockingly. âYes, in about a week.â Jinxâs face relaxed somewhat in relief, but it was short-lived as Sevika continued to explain. âThen it will happen all over again in a few weeks, usually happens once a month, and will continue to long into your adult years.â
Jinx looked utterly defeated, uncharacteristic of her usual confidence and sass around Sevika.
âI need to go explain some of this shit to Silco,â Sevika explained, âPut one of those in now, replace it when itâs too dirty.â Jinx said nothing, staring blankly at the new items in her hands as Sevika left her to her thoughts.
When Sevika entered Silcoâs office again he appeared to still be rather flustered, face contorted as he took a long drag from a nearly finished cigar. He glanced up from whatever he was staring at on his desk, probably nothing, catching Sevikaâs irritated gaze.
âYou need to get her more of these,â Sevika stated flatly as she slapped one of the same products sheâd given Jinx onto his desk. âItâs called a tampon,â she explained, âSheâs going to need to use several of these every month. This one came from top-side, and I recommend you avoid any of the shit down here unless you want her to catch crabs or some other nasty shit.â
Silcoâs brows raised incredulously as he stared at the offending item.
âTrust me, just get them from top-side,â Sevika insisted.
âIs this not something you can buy for her?â Silco questioned, taking one last drag from his cigar before placing it in his ashtray.
Sevika had to know he was going to ask, but she didnât look any less perturbed. âIs that an order?â
âYes,â he replied with some confidence back in his tone.
âYes Sir,â Sevika muttered.
Silco rested his head in his hands before waving a dismissive hand for Sevika to leave. As he heard the click of the door latch, he raised his head to find the tampon had been left on his desk. Hesitantly, he picked it up, spinning it in his hand as he examined it. Slowly, he peeled back the paper covering, revealing the contents. Realizing what exactly it was meant to do, where it was meant to go, and what it meant was happening to his daughter, he immediately threw it into the trash can beside his desk. He took the still burning stub of his cigar and tossed into the trash, watching with a blank stare as the contents slowly began to smolder and burn.

Forbearance (Silco/Reader)- Part 3
Silco is⌠new to parenting to say the least. It just so happens that reader has experience when their job as a chem-baronâs assistant turns out to be nothing but a babysitterâs job.
GN!reader (i try to keep it that way, at least) Slight alterations to the cannon plot obviously.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 4
If Silco was initially shocked about your loose acceptance of his request, he didnât show it.
âGood.â He spoke simply as if he wasnât surprised youâd agreed to it at all.
Your face twisted into confusion as he turned to leave.
âWâŚwaitâŚ!â
Silco paused, turning to look at you over his shoulder. You grappled with your words for a moment.
âWhereâŚ?â
âSevika will explain everything to you tomorrow,â Silco answered simply with a nod of his head before slipping out the door.
Stunned, you blinked for a moment, staring at the spot by the table where heâd been. You turned your head to look down at your shoes.
What were you thinking?
Your mind had been muddled for so long with the dreary and ever-circling life you led that you had seemed to jump at the notion of change with little regard to what might happen to you.
This was Silco you had just agreed to. And not just that. You had agreed to watch over his daughter. You realized that; if anything were to happen to Jinx while she was in your care, your life might be on the line.
But⌠then again⌠maybe your reasonings for accepting his offer were more than just for a change. Maybe you wanted the chance to be able to do something. Silcoâs ideals were warped, you knew this. But they coincided with yours. You wanted a better Zaun. And maybe that was why you had accepted.
You wanted to feel like you had a say in something, anything. And maybe working in a place that was closer to Silco, closer than working for Renni, would grant you the opportunity to have a voice⌠instead of sitting and watching on the sidelines.
HoweverâŚ
For someone who preached loyalty and trust, Silco had no reason at all to trust you. None you knew of, at least. Surely that one incident with Jinx wasnât enough to make him believe that you would be the perfect candidate for a caretaker. Or was it your nearly three-year history with taking care of Renniâs son?
Silco was good at that.
Good at leaving you confused and wary.

A rap at your apartment door (youâd been getting those a lot recently) drew your attention away from the mechanical bird you had been inspecting for the past half-hour.
Its craftsmanship was incredible. But you sigh and set it on the countertop in front of you to check the peephole of the door.
You feel your stomach drop in something akin to fear and nerves as you catch a glimpse of Sevika outside. Silco had mentioned sheâd explain everything, but you didnât know that meant coming to your home.
Even more so, he must have remembered where you lived and told her exactly where to go.
The thought chilled you and you briefly pondered moving.
âI donât have all day.â Came the muffled murmur of Sevikaâs voice through the door. Mouth dry, you opened it promptly.
âHm. Fast learner.â She cocked her head to the side, unimpressed with you despite how quick you were to obey her command.
âCome on, follow me.â Sevika jerked her head as a signal to follow behind her. You werenât one to argue and hurried to slip on your shoes. You slid the slightly rusted key to your apartment into your pocket, hurrying after her brisk strides.
âSo youâre the new babysitter, huh?â Sevika side-eyed you, her expression bordering annoyance and amusement.
âNew?â Your head tilted.
Had there been more before you?
âIâm not getting into that can of worms. Just do your job so Silco can do his.â She quipped.
âWhat exactly is my jobâŚ?â Your voice was hesitant as you asked, hands wringing the hem of your shirt.
There were things you knew Sevika didnât appreciate; slowness, weakness, and failure. Youâd noted this quite a while ago, and did your best not to slip into any of those categories.
But now⌠those were especially important to pay attention to.
âYouâre in charge of maintaining Jinxâs education, and nothing more, unless Silco says otherwise.â Sevikaâs voice was hushed as she walked through the lanes with a purpose, the Shaul she wore flapping behind her.
That looming building was coming into view, bathed in green light to suit its heinous glory. At all costs, you tried to avoid it. Once a place of safety, now a hub of drugs and alcohol, The Last Drop saw it all.
âWell?â Sevika had paused to look back at you. You drew your eyes away from the large green eye standing proud above you. This close, and above the faint thud of music, you could hear the electric buzz of the bulbs that kept it lit.
âYes.â You nodded, following her.
Upon stepping through the door, your senses were immediately assaulted; nose burning from the air inside more than it had outside, ears ringing from the booming music, and eyes squinting through the neon lighting. Your hands shielded your eyes from the light while they adjusted.
A couple of grunts at a table near the back called Sevika, a shrill whistle following the words in which youâd missed due to the loud bass in your ears and the rattling of your rib cage because of it.
âTheyâre not for me!â Sevika spat over the loud noise.
Eyes watched with interest as you were led up the wooden stairs. You could feel their gazes boring into your back until you were out of view. A sigh left you as you followed Sevikaâs tall form, the music finally relenting. The hallway was dim, and at the end was a door of deep maroon wood. Spiraling shapes of gold lined the edges and you watched as Sevika gave a knock.
There was a brief âcome inâ through the door, muffled and low; youâd hardly heard it.
The door was opened, creaking on its hinges and bathing you in the green light that poured in from the large, circular window behind Silcoâs desk.
âI explained to them what theyâre supposed to do.â Sevika nodded her head at you.
âAh, good.â Came Silcoâs reply as he leaned back against the tall chair he sat at. With arms rested lazily on the armrests, he observed you pointedly.
âWell?â He picked up a paper from the desk and studied it.
âReady to start your first shift?â
You stood beside Sevika with a loss for words.
This was too fast. You shouldn't have jumped into it as fast as you had.
âI⌠Iâm not sure.â Your voice wavered, becoming a little overwhelmed with the prospect of your new job starting now.
âMm? Going back on your word?â Silcoâs brows furrowed, one a little more than the other. He set down the paper and leaned forward.
âHow about you spend some time with Jinx, then. When youâre finished, tell me if your feelings have changed.â His voice was sharp.
Your feelings of apprehension dissipated a little at his suggestion and you nodded.
âGood.â He praised lightly, eyes flicking to Sevika.
âKeep an eye out.â
She nodded and let out a muttered order for you to follow her again.
âGo on, knock.â She crossed her arms once the two of you were standing in front of Jinxâs bedroom door. You looked between Sevika and the door for just a second, before reaching a hand out to knock.
There was the muted sound of footsteps running up to the door, light a quick. You watched as the handle turned and the door cracked open just enough for one side of Jinxâs face to be seen.
Upon recognizing you, she flung the door open the rest of the way and jostled you with a hug to your waist.
âItâs you!â She excitedly exclaimed as she let you go. Blue eyes stared up at you, blinking quickly as her smile persisted.
âDid you get my gift?â Jinx watched your expression.
Your lips turned up into a smile as you let out a chuckle, reminded of the beautiful mechanical bird.
âYes, I did. I thought I told you to keep it?â Your voice lilted with laughter. Jinx smiled wider at this.
âI didnât wanna!â She laughed.
âJinx,â Sevika interjected.
âWhat..?â Jinx shied away, her face dawning a small frown as if she expected to be scolded. You watched with a bit of empathy as her eyes took on a bit of a puppyish look.
âYour friend hereâs gonna be your new tutor.â Sevika gave you a side glance. Jinx gaped at the news.
âReally?!â She looked back to you immediately with more enthusiasm than before.
âSo, does that mean I donât have any more lessons with-â
âNo. All your lessons will be taught by them, now.â Sevika interrupted. You glanced over the top of Jinxâs head at her room. The walls were littered with messy drawings all done in bright neon crayons and the floor was scattered with toys and mechanical parts alike, all sharing those same neon decorations.
âYou draw?â You asked her.
âUh-huh!â Jinx nodded brightly.
âWhy donât you draw me something? Iâd like to watch if you donât mind.â You tilted your head curiously. Almost erupting in excitement at the prospect of someone wanting to see her work, Jinx led you into her room.
Sevika followed but stayed by the doorway. You came to sit down on the floor while Jinx colored on a piece of paper. You watched for a while as the crayon she held scribbled across the page with speed.
âJinx had a tutor before me?â You looked back at Sevika from over your shoulder. Sevika nodded.
âWhat happened?â The air grew a bit darker.
âTheyâre gone now,â Sevika answered. Your brow furrowed;
âGone?â
âGone.â
Jinx spoke up while she drew;
âShe didnât like me. She said Iâm stupid.â The girlâs voice trailed off.
You felt your stomach churn. That wouldnât fly with Silco.
So thatâs what gone had meant.
âWhere is she now?â You asked, checking, just to make sure that your assumption was correct.
âCheck the graveyard.â Sevika scoffed.
You were right.
âFinished!â Exclaimed Jinx as she held up the drawing for you to get a good look at. A little too close to your face for your liking, but you smiled and slipped it out of her hand gently.
âOhh this is lovely, Jinx. A cat?â You studied the messy claws on the catâs paws.
âMhm! You like it?â She scooted closer to you to look at the picture again.
âI love it. Can I keep it?â You whispered to her with a hint of joy in your eye.
âUh-huh!â Jinx nodded her head a bit comically, blue hair bobbing with the movement.
â˘
â˘
Jinx had continued to draw for you until you held four papers in your hands by the time you had returned to Silcoâs office.
âIâll take the job.â You nodded with sureness, slipping the drawings behind your back a bit bashfully. One of Silcoâs brows quirked at the movement and he gestured to you with a flick of his hand to come closer.
You did, and he tilted his head a little in an attempt to see what you held behind your back.
âShow me them.â Silco held his hand out.
Hesitantly, you set them in his hand and watched as he leaned back in his chair to flip through them.
You stared, almost in awe, as his lips began to turn up into a small, but uncontrollable smile. He handed the pages back to you almost instantly upon catching his expression and pursed his lips in an attempt to hide it.
âIâm pleased you accepted. I had Renni unemploy you.â Silco leaned forward to continue reading whatever paper was in front of him.
âWhat?â Your eyes widened.
âWhat would I have done if Iâd changed my mind?â
So if you had declined, you would have been jobless? Was Silco planning to force you into the job had you denied?
âYou would have accepted eventually.â
âHow can you be so sure?â You asked cautiously.
âThe incident that gave you your job as Renniâs assistant.â
You took a step back.
âHow do you know about that?â

Oooh for Roach Verse, what about:
-Holiday funtime antics?
-Jinx has a school bully and those chuckleheads create the most over the top plots to help her out, lol
-Jinx brings home a stray
-The gang gives Roach the day off from cooking/ healing/general caretaking and it goes about as well as you'd imagine
-Jinx has a crush on some kid, and Silco/Sevika are not coping well
That's off the top of my head, I gotta go reread the Roach series now! lol
these are so fucking fantastic, i might revisit this a few times to do some of the other prompts too omg. but the one with jinx bringing home a stray??? chaos i love it.
men and minors dni
lock's been avoiding you all day.
it's strange. usually, you, lock and ran are like the three musketeers-- always getting into and back out of trouble together.
but today... lock's been avoiding you like the plague.
it's a little funny. the man's three hundred pounds of pure muscle, tattooed and pierced on nearly every inch of his skin, but each time he walks in a room with you there, he turns on his heel and runs away like a scared little girl.
mostly, though, you're just worried that you've pissed off your friend.
"he really hasn't said anything to you?" you ask ran. they're 'helping' you make sandwiches for lunch-- eating more than they are assembling, but still. you appreciate the company.
"nah, he's been jumpy around me too." they mumble around a mouthful of turkey. you cringe in disgust as you watch them squirt a dollop of mustard directly into their mouth, on top of the mush of turkey on their tongue. "don' worry. we'll get 'im drunk and interrogate him tonight." ran promises, patting your shoulder. you giggle, smacking your friend's hand away from the cold cuts.
twenty minutes later, you're making your rounds across the bar and delivering sandwiches to the crew.
singed and deckard barely notice you, both of them searching the lab for something when you drop off their sandwiches. singed shouts a distracted "thank you roach!" before the basement door slams behind you.
thieram's still asleep-- preparing to stay up all night tonight for work. you put his sandwich on his desk and gently nudge him. "'s almost two." you whisper. he grunts.
"thamk y' r'ch." he mumbles.
your next stop is silco's office, since lock is still hiding from you. you gently knock on the door. "lunch!" you call.
"come in!" silco shouts.
silco's laying back in his office chair, his feet propped up on his desk, a cigar between his lips as he scrubs at his temples. you raise an eyebrow at his haggard appearance, gently placing his sandwich beside the papers littering his desk.
"rough day?" you guess. silco groans. from the sound of his groan alone, you know he needs a bitch-session. you happily plop down on the couch next to his desk, tearing into your sandwich and nodding at silco. "spill. but make it quick, i still gotta feed the kid."
silco groans again at the mention of his foster daughter, and you burst into laughter. of course it's about jinx. silco's never this angsty about business. "she's been avoiding me all day." he sighs, dropping his hands to look at you. you furrow your brows.
"it's only one." you say. he huffs.
"she was acting cagey last night too. has she said anything to you?" he asks. you shake your head no.
you're usually the first person jinx goes to bitch about silco to. you or sevika. so the fact that you haven't heard anything only makes her behavior stranger. silco groans again.
"i don't even know what i did! we were perfectly fine at lunch yesterday, and now she won't even let me in her room!"
"she's probably just hormonal. puberty, silco, it's different for girls man." you try to explain. he just shakes his head.
"no it's not that."
you take another bite of your sandwich, gesturing at silco to do the same. he huffs and rolls his yes, but he at least takes a bite, so you're happy. "lock's been acting jumpy around me too. maybe it's just somethin' in the air." you suggest.
silco's eyes sharpen at your words. the second you hear yourself say it, you figure it out too.
"oh, shit." you mumble, jumping off the couch. "what did those shits get themselves into now?" you ask, scooping up the last few sandwiches you have left to deliver and running toward the office door. silco starts to chuckle behind you-- a defeated laugh, one that means he knows he's about to have an even bigger headache that he did when he just thought jinx was upset with him.
"don't let them drag you into it, roach. i need you as my informant." he begs. you laugh.
"i'll let you know what i find out." you call over your shoulder as you stumble into the hallway and slam silco's office door shut behind him.
you take off toward jinx's room, not bothering to knock, knowing it would only give them time to hide whatever shit they're up to.
you slam the door open, and your eyebrows fly up your forehead when not just jinx and lock; but jinx, lock and sevika all turn to look at you with big guilty eyes.
you groan. "what did you do?"
"now, hold on, why do you assume we--"
"babe, i promise i had nothing to do with it until just this morn--"
"i am so sorry roach, i told her not to--"
they all start to speak at the same time, flailing wildly as their voices overlap. and then, from a pile of blankets and plushies on jinx's bed, a raspy 'meow' floats above all the rambling voices.
they all cringe simultaneously, their heads snapping over to the bed. you burst into defeated laughter.
"a cat!?" you ask, walking over to the bed. jinx's eyes grow a little wider at the smile on your face, and she's the first to run up to your side. "oh, janna." you groan through your smile as you look down at the mangy thing. "fuck, jinx, it's probably getting fleas and lice all over your covers."
she blinks up at you with wide eyes. "but she's so cute, roach!" she squeals. you giggle at the girl, then look up at your friends.
lock's cooing down at the cat, gently patting its forehead as it purrs into his hand. sevika's watching it with a smile she's trying and failing to bite back.
"you're all suckers!" you cry. they both look up at you guiltily.
"jinx is gonna name 'er shitstorm." sevika supplies. you laugh despite yourself, reaching out to ruffle jinx's bangs. it's the perfect name for the poor little cat.
"where did you even find this thing?" you ask. jinx shrugs.
"i heard meowing in the lab last night. found her hiding in a corner, all scared and alone." jinx pouts, reaching down to pet the cat. it seems to know jinx is it's savior-- licking at her hand and closing its eyes as she pets it.
it occurs to you that this is probably what deckard and singed were looking for earlier. you have to bite back a laugh-- this cat is one lucky fucker, narrowly avoiding a brutal death of shimmer experimentation to become a little girl's fur-baby.
"roach..." jinx whispers. you look up from the little cat, rolling your eyes at the wet puppy eyes jinx is blinking at you. "please can we keep her?" she whines.
you huff, throw each of your friends their sandwich, then lean forward and pick the cat up, holding it to your chest. it's a docile little thing, cuddling against you the second you got it in your arms. jinx is wiggling with glee before you, already knowing what your answer's going to be. you flip her off, and she grins.
"fine." you grunt. jinx and lock burst into happy squeals, jumping up and down as they hold each other's hands. sevika's grinning behind the pair. "but you three gotta help me take care of this mess understand?" you ask. they all nod.
"whatever you need, roach." lock promises, grining. you giggle.
"okay. lock, take jinx's bedding out back and burn it-- it's easier than trying to wash out all the bugs and diseases." jinx pouts a bit at the thought of losing her star-themed sheets, and you nudge her with your foot. "you still got your dinosaur sheets in the closet. and i'll buy you a new set next time we're at the markets, okay?" you ask. she nods up at you. lock gets to work stripping her bed.
"jinx, go talk to silco. he thinks you're mad at him."
"you think he's gonna let me keep 'er?" she asks, worried. you snort.
"jinx, you could ask silco for the moon and he'd find a way to bring it to you." you say. jinx smiles shyly at this, and you ruffle her bangs again. "tell 'im i say that pets are good for kids' social development, or some bullshit like that. she'll be good for pest control in the bar. get him to take you shopping for some food and a litter box for little shitstorm, okay?" you ask.
jinx grins and nods up at you, wrapping your legs in a quick hug before taking off down the hall to talk to silco. you laugh as you watch her go.
sevika's the only one left, blinking at you guiltily from across jinx's room. you snort at the sight of her. "come help me clean this little shit." you mumble, nodding toward jinx's bathroom.
sevika follows with a smile.
"you're the sucker." she teases as you pass her the cat, plugging the sink and filling it with warm soapy water. you snort.
"you know she was supposed to be one of singed's test subjects?" you ask. sevika bursts into laughter, scratching the cat under her chin. she purrs so loud it's like a little motor. "i went down there today, he and deckard were tearing the lab apart looking for the cat." you laugh.
sevika snorts. "after her bath i'll go break the news to 'em."
down the hall, silco's shocked voice rings out. "a cat!?"
you and sevika burst into giggles.
you take the cat from her hands, firmly holding it as you start to scrub it's skin free of bugs. she yowls at the water, but settles down once you start to scrub her, seemingly liking her bath. sevika wraps an arm around your waist, kissing your head as you work.
"she is a cute little thing. makes me feel bad for all the creatures jinx didn't rescue from singed." you whisper. sevika chuckles.
"honestly, babe, we're just lucky singed hasn't started experimenting on humans yet." she jokes.
thumping footsteps come running toward jinx's room. you both look up in time to see ran round the corner, a manic grin on their face. "a cat!" they squeal, pushing into the bathroom to coo down at the sweet little thing. "awe, hello sweet girl!" they cry, taking the cat out of your hands and into their arms.
you giggle at sevika's shocked expression-- ran's just a ball of sunshine under their bangs and eyeliner-- and pass ran a clean towel to wrap the cat in.
"you got it from here?" you ask your friend, trusting that they know how to care for the creature better than you. they grin, pressing kisses to the wet cat's head.
"jinx already named me godparent. suck it, bitches." ran says, sticking their tongue out at you and sevika, hugging the cat closer to their chest.
sevika snorts and you roll your eyes fondly.
