anyone else up thinking about thoschei again. It's 1 am and they won't leave me alone. Just the difference in their different pairings and dynamics is driving me insane. From two tortured souls fresh from the horrors of the Time War, holding on to each other and pushing each other away in the same moment, with the Master running and the Doctor always chasing after him, to the Master finally being the one trying to reach out and the Doctor being the one to pull away because there's just too much history between them, too much he cannot look past even as she started to really try (and it ended in tragedy anyway, even when they both tried), to two used-to-be-lovers whose bond has deteriorated to pure hatred tying them together, but maybe there's still something there, but- there's just too much. The history between them means something, but it's both too much and not enough. Anyways yeah I'm normal. If any of that was even coherent.

I thought of another on-screen mention I'd love expanded - Missy mentioning running into the Monks before and ended their control by tossing a girl into a volcano. Personally, I like Ainley!Master for it but feel free to use another.

"Stop complaining," the Master snapped impatiently. The sound of the girl's crying was beginning to grate on him; he was trying to formulate a plan - several plans, just to be safe - and her incessant weeping and wailing for the entire journey to Mount Etna had been loud, frivolous and pointless.

They had been on a private jet! There was no one around to hear her complaining except for the stewards, who would be killed following his return journey to London, when they would hopefully have more dignity than to try to plead with him for their lives. Besides, didn't the girl know how lucky she was? She'd been flown to her own death on a luxurious private jet, which was far better than meeting it in a hospital bed or anything equally mundane, messy and pointless.

This was for the greater good, anyway. The Monks had been an interesting enough entity to entertain initially, but their psychological control had begun to grow boring. Subservient humans were the Master's ideal fantasy, but he tended to prefer being the one that they were bowing and scraping before, and the Monks just weren't willing to share that adulation. It was quite annoying, really, and so he'd had to write this off as an embarrassing little experiment gone wrong, and hope that removing the lynchpin would erase it all from everyone's memories. It would be quite humiliating if not.

This girl wasn't even the original lynchpin, but he'd grown tired of her parents and grandparents and their irksome, never-ending whining, so he'd had them fed to his lions back at home. She'd inherited their role, but now she had to die, and look, he could've just shot her, but where was the fun in that? Let him have a bit of spectacle, a bit of enjoyment. There was no one around to watch this, but the feeling alone would be euphoric.

"Bored of you now," he told the girl, pulling her gag back up and patting her damp cheek. "Bored of all of this. I'd like to say it's been a pleasure, but I don't tell lies. Well, I do, but that's less theatrical, really, isn't it?"

Her sobbing was incredibly annoying. This would be win-win; no more wailing, and no more Monks.

"Buh-bye," he finished, pushing her forwards and over the lip of the crater; she crashed and rolled down the sides of it and into the magma like a rag doll, and the Master sighed as he felt reality beginning to shift around him.

"Right," he said brightly. "New plan: Prime Minister."
