First they snatch the idea from an intern. Then they fire the guy holding the project together with paper and string. Love that chicken from Popeyes. .
It’s happening everywhere.
In case you were wondering why Spotify Wrapped sucks balls this year, and more importantly doesn't have any genre data:

The original script :
ON A MISTY HILLSIDE at Dawn. Shaw on horseback, is slashing pumpkins from on a rail, again and again. As he turns and trots back for another pass, he finds Forbes standing there.
SHAW : You're up early, Major.
FORBES : I wonder if I might have a word with you--?
SHAW : Of course.
FORBES : If you'd be good enough to get down from your horse...
Shaw notes the sarcasm, then dismounts.
SHAW : ...Better?
Forbes stares back at him for a moment, then plunges in:
FORBES : These are good men, Robert. Why do you treat them this vay?
SHAW : What way is that?
FORBES : Like some kind of--
He stops himself.
SHAW : Some kind of...?
FORBES : Slavedriver.
SHAW (stung) : And how would you would have me treat them, Forbes? With kindness. More delicately than.. ("Whites") --other men? I will not patronize then.
FORBES : Are you sure?
SHAW : You know what's waiting for them out there. They are utterly unprepared for it.
FORBES : --But you will make them ready.
SHAW : Yes.
Forbes shakes his head and kneels to pick up one of the split gourds from the ground.
FORBES : Why did you accept this commision, Rob?
SHAW (after a moment) : To do what was asked of me.
FORBES : No other reason?
SHAW : To win the war. To preserve the union.
FORBES : And--?
SHAW : To help the black man.
FORBES : Nothing else? Admiration, perhaps. Veneration? (pointedly) Deification?
SHAW (flatly) : No.
FORBES : Have you ever lifted up a rock and looked at what was underneath?
SHAW : What are you talking about--?
FORBES : There comes a time in everyone's life, Rob, when they get to see what's really underneath. Some look, Some turn away. (looks at him) Do you know what I'm talking about?
SHAW : I'm not sure I do.
FORBES : Never mind..
He turns and starts away. Shaw calls out to stop him.
SHAW : Forbes...
Forbes stops, looks back.
SHAW : I'm doing the best I can.
He and Forbes look at one another.

Sneak Peak
I’m working on a Httyd multi chapter fic on Ao3. It’s a Snotlout-centric, angst riddled story (it will make you cry) but I promise there will be hurt/comfort at the end!
The latest chapter is giving me a little trouble but I wanted to give a sneak peak and see how it’s received! Let me know what you think and if you’d like more updates!
Chapter 7: Reunions
“Uncle!” The shrill call jolted through Snotlout like lightning. He shrieked and jumped in place. The movement made his wound flare, and he had to ground his teeth to make sure he didn’t gasp.
Snotlout exhaled, and sent a soft glare at Zephyr, “Don’t scare me like that kid. Almost finished off what the storm started.”
“You should be in bed.” Zephyr crossed her arms.
Snotlout huffed lightheartedly, and glanced down at his niece, “You’re quite the slavedriver, you know that?”
Here’s the link if anyone wants to check it out!

fallout new vegas has a huge sexism problem regarding sexual slavery and deadwife-ism wherein women are just a part of the political message. This is especially frustrating when they force the player to actually experience the sexism if their character is female, e.g siri's warning and not being able to fight. justice to ranger stella
honestly i prefer how blunt FNV is about these things if the alternative is the fascist traditionalist slavedriving utilitarianism death cult faction being weirdly gender inclusive. it's not everyone's cup of tea and i get that but the discomfort is the intentional point and i judge it as overall well executed

Hey, what do you think of Dreamworks' The Prince of Egypt? I like you, or not so much?
It's been a long time now since I last saw it, but I think it's an outstanding movie.
It's visually stunning. The music – both the songs by Stephen Schwartz and the orchestral score by Hans Zimmer – is magnificent, one of the best animated film scores to come out of the '90s, despite stiff competition in that field. Its voice cast is full of distinguished names – Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny Glover, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Ofra Haza – who all make the most of their roles.
While it does take some obvious liberties with the Bible, it's fundamentally a faithful adaptation of the Exodus story, with all the gravitas and spiritual power the subject deserves. Jewish, Christian, and Muslim clergy were all consulted to ensure that the film would be effective from a religious standpoint, since the story is so important to all three Abrahamic faiths. Yet the film brings human heart and drama to the story too, especially through its chief plot twist: that Moses and Pharaoh Rameses, two of the Bible's most legendary enemies, were raised as brothers who loved each other. This choice obviously adds both emotion and depth to the story, by humanizing and complicating both sides of the conflict – we see that Rameses' tragic flaws are a product of his upbringing and the pressure to uphold his father's legacy, while Moses never cared about the Hebrews' plight either until he learned he was one of them – yet thankfully without ever crossing the line into "Both sides are equally at fault."
I also have to give the animators credit for not whitewashing the story the way so many lesser Biblical adaptations do, and portraying all the characters as the people of color they would have been.
The film has its flaws, of course. I'll admit, I used to find Tzipporah slightly annoying, because with her blend of fiery attitude and "exotic" sexiness, I thought she was too much of a knockoff of Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. (I'm not sure if I still feel that way or not, though.) And while the animation avoids whitewashing the characters, it's unfortunate that most of their voice actors are white. But as a whole, it's one of the masterpieces of non-Disney animation.
Musical theatre fans can also partly thank this movie for the existence of Wicked. Not only do they share the same composer/lyricist, but if I remember correctly, Stephen Schwartz has said that the decision to center Wicked around Elphaba and Glinda's friendship was partly inspired by The Prince of Egypt's focus on Moses and Rameses' bond as adoptive brothers. Schwartz obviously likes the theme of two people who are pitted against each other in a grand-scale, nation-shaping conflict, yet who love each other on a personal level. (And now I'm imagining Moses singing "Defying Gravity" at the point where he kills the slavedriver and flees from Egypt, with Rameses singing Glinda's part: it would only need a few lyric changes.)

For a couple years, I worked in a video store in a small town. In many ways, this was the culmination of a childhood dream: routine, unchallenging labour. If you were a particularly annoying labour analyst, all I actually ever “did” was ring up rentals, restock returns in the morning, and clean the windows. Customer service has its own way of filling the space left by the actual work, though.
People who have worked retail are a sort of elite corps. For one thing, you’re never rude to another retail employee for the entire rest of your life. You’ve been in the trenches, too, and even if you somehow managed to escape, you’d still have had that shared trauma to know how bad that shift could get for that shelf-stocker at Maybe’s Drugs off I-40.
I have all the usual complaints, but there’s something else, too. My unique problem is this: I had this one customer who came in every Monday morning, asking for the same movie. We never had that movie, which is the crux of our conflict. He – and I can’t remember his name anymore, even if the electroshock therapy had been effective – never took “no” for an answer, and would come back the next week. He’d ask for the same thing, by title. No other details: no barcode, no publisher, no actors. Not even a description of the plot (he hadn’t seen it yet, obviously.) Now, this was before broadband internet was widely available, so I’d have to dial up after hours to America Online, and see if the movie had been added to their database. It never did, except one night I saw some folks talking about it in a video store chat room.
Their customers, too, were asking for this film. Insistently. After talking about it that night, we decided that we would form a bit of a trade union group. If any of us heard anything on this mysterious VHS, we would share the knowledge with the rest of the group. That retail-worker camaraderie at work again, you see. Nothing ever came of it, but I did end up becoming good friends with a manager at a Hobart’s Movies in Ames, Iowa, and we were even roommates for awhile before he got a new job at Seaworld. I moved on, too, making my slow, but inevitably in retrospect, drift towards the coast. Still, the whole thing bothered me. For years afterward, I would turn on my computer every Monday night, long after I had left the job, and search for any clue as to the existence of this film.
Once, on a day off, I called a librarian, who got pissy at me for even asking about it, and demanded to know who had put me up to calling her as a prank. I hung up in a panic, but she called back for hours. Obviously, she was also undergoing the same situation, and I felt shame at having brought a momentary pain to another proud Retail-American.
Now, video rental stores are a thing of the past. Even in small towns, they have been reduced to just a fond memory and an abandoned corner of a strip mall. Maybe my customer’s quest doesn’t matter anymore. The aggregation of the world’s knowledge into one hissing, unseen beast at the centre of our collective technological hallucination is complete. If they don’t have it, pick a different one. All I know is that, one day, someone will find a copy of this movie, and I’ll be able to go back to that town and shove it in the ground where the video store once stood. On that day, I can finally rest, freed from the slavedriver that is Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol.

This excellent and hilarious comic has made me realise Magical Strike has so much potential as a sexy, love triangle FrukUS farce:
Starting out as Salaryman Arthur hating arrogant, spoilt CEO’s Son Alfred while simultaneously gagging for Alfred to just grab him and fuck his brains out on his desk. He’s got it baaad and hates just how bad he has it. Alfred is so smug and privileged and up himself but so strong and blinding and magnetic with it. Much as he tries, Arthur just can’t take his eyes off Alfred or stop his clothes falling off when Alfred looks his way
Meanwhile Magical Strike Francis keeps running into Arthur and sees him as nothing but an obsequious frumpy cog at first. But eventually gets to know him as their paths continually cross from Strike’s battle with Jones Corp. Gets to know this grumpy Englishman, gets to see the real Arthur underneath, and slowly but surely starts to fall for him. But how can he get Arthur to notice him when he’s so cock lovesick for Alfred? Just another reason Strike hates that arrogant, nepo baby son of a slavedriver!
Meanwhile, meanwhile Alfred is loving life as part of the 0.1% and getting everything his heart desires. Including some from Arthur whenever he wants it. Arthur being just the latest in a long line of Jones Corp. employees who were loved and left by the CEO or the CEO’s son. Alfred can always get anyone bouncing on his cock and he respects exactly none of them, least of all Arthur. Then one day Alfred flirts with Magical Strike as a joke during one if their battles and Strike rejects him. Turns him down flatter than a pancake under a hydraulic press. Which…stirs something in Alfred - something he’s never felt before - and makes him desperate to get Strike to give in to him. How dare this freak reject Alfred F. Jones?! Alfred will show him! The Jones Corp. heir will have this crossdressing weirdo begging like a Kirkland before the week is up! Spoiler: no he won’t
Man I need this bad. I need this three seasons and a movie bad

Final batch of Thomas and Friends refs for now
Tumblr media
Frankie Clarke
Age: 33
Height: 174 cm
James "Hurricane" Stratford
Age: 30
Height: 189 cm
Subordinates of D10 who run a base of operation on the Mainland covered as the local steelworks. The couple is loyal to D10 to no end but they are often seen complaining about their amount of work, how understaffed they are and wish to have some days-off from time to time.
They try to lure innocent people in to get some free labor with Frankie's way with words and Hurricane's muscle. They often do their victims a favour to make them indepted to them. Frankie as the steelworks manager, treats the workers they forced in very poorly as they have to work for hours on end and are trapped at the base and never left out. The workers get severly punished when they displease the duo, earning the two the names "Frankie the Slavedriver" and "Hurricane the Brute". Their misdeeds were put to an end when they decided to bring in a young boy in blue...
Tumblr media
Ashima Desai
Age: 16
Height: 164 cm
A young girl that arrived on Sodor from India to go to the Mainland for a big event, her parents were invited to. She ran into Thomas by accident and they did not get along well at the start despite Ashima's attempts to be nice. However, they managed to open up to each other over time, especially gaining his interest because she heard about a legend about a ghostly woman with a golden aura, suspecting it might be about Lady.
Ashima is polite, modest, generous and very confident in herself as she can sense when someone is being rude to her and knows how to handle a situation like this like with her first encounters with Thomas. She has the firm believe that nobody has to chance who they are at the core and that fully embracing who you are will bring you true happiness. After the event and she and Thomas and his friends got into all sorts of incidents, Ashima headed back to India but she and Thomas promised to stay in contact regardless.
Tumblr media
Mallard Gresley
Age: 49
Height: 200 cm
The oldest son of the Gresley branch family closest to the main family and Spencer's older brother. Mallard is prideful, arrogant and pompous like most Gresleys but he's more secluded than others and only cares about his own business, seeing no need to participate in their family drama as a very successful position was already guaranteed to him from birth. Because of that, he holds no jealousy against the main family with how content he is with what he has, despite the knowledge that he would inherit everything from the main family in the case it would disappear.
Mallard is so introverted and distant that he can mostly only be seen on big events and nowhere else. He and Scott decided to be on good terms for the sake of avoiding trouble neither of them wants. Despite being siblings, Mallard wants nothing to do with his brothers and sisters aside from business, especially with Spencer, who he views as nothing but a nuiscance with his pettiness and reckless behaviour.
Tumblr media
Ace Canley
Age: 18
Height: 182 cm
A newbie ralley car racer from Australia, who goes around the world for events. Ace is carefree, impulsive, stubborn and tents to never consider the feelings of others, dragging others into his reckless actions against their will. Oblivious to it, he is also very manipulative and convinces people with pressure. He can also be lazy like when he made Thomas, the younger and smaller one, push his car up a hill when they got stuck in Africa.
His parents were archeologists, who worked with the Billington's and disappeared alongside them. When he learnt about Thomas 10 years later, he used his world tour as an opportunity to get to meet him and bond over their shared fates. He wanted to convince Thomas to accompany him on his tour mostly for fun and Thomas disagreed at first as this was a bit too much to ask for and he did not like Ace at all, even Lady told him to stay away from him. But when Ace brought up they could find clues about their parents' disappearance, Thomas reluctently agreed. Unlike with Percy, Rosie, Philip and Ashima, Thomas never warmed up to Ace and the feeling that he is a bad to have around never left him for a good reason.

*sigh* The social calendar this Christmas is actually such that I might not be able to put out the next chapter of The Golden Hall before I go back to work next week. Can you imagine? Scandal and outrage.
(I also have a few Lothíriel birthday asks to finish, as well as other people's fics to read, and I hope to get to all of it eventually. :))
And yet, the next installment of TGH is quite important, and I've been looking forward to writing it for a long time, so I cannot rush it.
And perhaps my resolution for the new year should be to stop being such a slavedriver to myself. I cannot stand to make other people wait, and I have a fear of "falling off the wagon" and becoming "lazy" and "complacent." But I've also proven to myself that I have the mindset and the process to put out quality updates on a regular basis, and I don't see why that should change, even if I do allow myself to take some extra time now and then.
