Food: 4/5 –  Good looking pastries locally sourced. I spotted croissants, muffins, loaf cake, bagels, and quiche. They also had pre-made sandwiches in the fridge. The jalapeno bagel was covered in cheese. It was a bit greasy but tasty.

Coffee: 4/5 –  I liked the latte though it seemed to have a lot of foam (too much). The flavor wasn’t too bitter or weak. They have espresso drinks, pour over coffee, house specialty drinks, cold brew, espresso tonics and other coffee cocktails, teas, ice blended drinks, and lemonades.

Wi-fi: 5/5 – Free, unlimited, the password is posted by the register

Ambiance: 3/5 – Warehouse industrial look. The décor was older and shabbier. The furniture did not match. The walls were unfinished.

Noise: 5/5 – Quiet with no music

Plugs: 2/5 – Spotted two

Parking: 4/5 – It’s an industrial area. They only have four parking spots in front and also street parking. Street parking seems easy to find with no restrictions, but I also visited during a holiday.

Comfort: 3/5 – Tables of assorted sizes, some chairs are padded, a couple of arm chairs, a couch, tables not at the optimal height for laptop campers. The door was left open on a cold day.

Bathroom: 3/5 – One unisex

Art: 4/5 – Paintings and photos for sale

Tips: There is a rewards program.

SHR roasts their own coffee on-site. The coffeehouse is in an industrial area in El Segundo and is popular with campers. They have a wide variety of coffee and beverage options, including espresso drinks, pour over coffee, house specialty drinks, cold brew (including barrel aged cold brew), espresso tonics and other coffee cocktails, teas, ice blended drinks, and lemonades.

The pastries looked good. I spotted croissants, muffins, loaf cake, bagels, and quiche. They also had pre-made sandwiches in the fridge.

The jalapeno bagel ($3.50) was covered in cheese. It was a bit greasy but tasty. Ask to have it warmed.

Latte with 2% milk ($5.25): good flavor but there was too much foam and the foam was quite airy. The flavor wasn’t bitter, weak, or harsh.

The décor was older and shabbier. The furniture did not match. The walls were unfinished. It felt like a warehouse.

They only have four parking spots in front and also street parking. Street parking seems easy to find with no restrictions, but I also visited during a holiday.

what coffee brand do you use to make espresso? do you grind the beans yourself?

Quarantine made me a bit of a coffee snob so I generally try to get my beans from local roasters so they’re as fresh as possible, and then I usually ask someone working which beans would be best for espresso. If I’m in a pinch I’ll look for any semi-local brands at the grocery store and check if they have a “roasted on” date to get the freshest ones. I did LOVE Smoky Hollow when I went there in LA so i might order some from there. Yeah I grind the beans myself
