Happy Aries [9°] New Moon Solar Eclipse! Neptune is also conjunct Mercury at 29° Pisces.
As per usual, pay attention to what speaks to you at a subconscious, deeply personal, intuitive and even instinctual level today. This is the most potent day of the entire year to create a vision board if you feel so inspired.
If you want to make a vision board/treasure map but are busy today, begin before the end of the month (during the new moon phase.)
This next couple of days closes out the March 2025 eclipse portal but we are still in the broader 2025 eclipse portal that extends to September.

Just thinking about this map showing the range of the Great Black Swamp in Ohio, which was the size of the Everglades at its natural extent, compared with the path of the 2024 total solar eclipse coming through in April.
#great black swamp#total solar eclipse#ohio#maps#so where i live is about two minutes eleven seconds of totality!#and also in the former black swamp#i don't know where i'm going with this#the place is already haunted#ohio posting

So @smile-at-the-stars was wondering if there was an area in the US that experienced both totality and aurora borealis caused by the solar flares earlier this week that will also experience the cicada emergence this summer, and I have nothing more interesting to do right now so I made this map that is definitely not very accurate but a good approximation nevertheless. The accuracy varies within the map because I was filling the counties one by one manually (in https://www.mapchart.net/usa-counties.html) and I had varying levels of patience during this time, so don't come for me in the notes if you spot any mistakes. I might write the code and create a better map later if I feel like it (and if anyone else wants to do so, they are more than welcome). The data for totality comes from an approximation from https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/where-when/, the aurora borealis data is an approximation from the prediction for naked eye visibility from an ABC10 image based on NWSSWPC predictions for Saturday, May 11th (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GNTcm3EaMAAhxJy?format=jpg&name=medium is where I found it), and the cicada data is from https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/04/24/2024-cicada-map/73414849007/.
So as we can see, there is indeed an area where 2024 will seem like the beginning of an apocalypse.
#eclipse 2024#total solar eclipse#cicada#cicada emergence#northern lights#solar storm#solar flare#aurora borealis#space weather#eclipses#space#maps#usa#us map#making this map made me realize just how much gerrymandering there must be

Solar Eclipse Path Map Shows States Where Sun Will Be Blocked Out
— March 16, 2024 | Newsweek
A rare total solar eclipse will take place next month and will be the last chance for Americans to view the natural phenomena for two decades, astronomy experts have said.
A total eclipse will be experienced by millions of Americans on April 8 this year—a rare astronomical event in which the skies briefly turn dark during daylight hours. Next month's eclipse is a rare event, with the last one taking place over the U.S. in 2017.
"You definitely want to be looking at the sky on April 8th because if you miss the solar eclipse this year, you have to wait two decades until the next chance to see a total solar eclipse from the contiguous United States," Brian Lada, AccuWeather astronomy expert, told Newsweek.
"Total solar eclipses themselves are not rare. They happen every year somewhere around the world. What is rare is to have them visible here in the United States."
Total eclipses occur once every other year somewhere on the planet, but for each individual community, they occur once every few centuries with some exceptions, Lada explained.

A solar eclipse is seen at Liberty Island in on August 21, 2017, in New York City. While New York was not in the path of totality for the solar eclipse, around 72 percent of the sun was covered by the moon during the peak time of the partial eclipse. Noam Galai/WireImage/Getty
What Is A Total Solar Eclipse?
According to Jonathan Belles, digital meteorologist for The Weather Channel, a solar eclipse takes place when the moon's orbit "takes it into the same plane as the sun, blocking out the sun."
There are numerous things to look out for - aside from the skies turning dark in the middle of the day - during a solar eclipse. Belles told Newsweek: "During a total solar eclipse, you can see explosions of matter being launched from the sun on some occasions. You'll likely see some eerie shadows in the form of eclipsed discs or even slithering snakes on the ground under trees and other objects. You might see bats and birds head out for food thinking that the sunset has arrived."
"If you look at the horizon, you may see thin clouds of ice that are usually invisible to the naked eye. You may also see clouds shrink over land or grow over the ocean. In elevated locations, you might also be able to tell where the sun is still shining."
Where Can I See The Total Eclipse?

A Map, Provided by NASA, Showing the Trajectory of the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024. NASA
According to Lada, those wishing to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon will need to be "in a narrow area called the path of totality", stretching from Texas all the way to Maine in the northeast.
A NASA map shows the full trajectory of the eclipse across the states, including times it will occur on April 8. Starting in Texas at around 1:30 p.m. CDT, the eclipse will occur in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and finally in Maine at 3:30 p.m. EDT. Small parts of Tennessee and Michigan may also experience the total solar eclipse.
"Everywhere outside of the path of totality will only experience a partial solar eclipse, of course, as long as it's not cloudy," Lada told Newsweek.

If you're planning to look skyward to see the event, you need to be prepared. NASA advises using the correct equipment to prevent causing serious damage to your eyes.
"When watching the partial phases of the solar eclipse directly with your eyes, which happens before and after totality, you must look through safe solar viewing glasses ("eclipse glasses") or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times," NASA explains. You can also use an indirect viewing method, such as a pinhole projector."

ok i was thinking about doing a lil art too but ow oof ack. that PT went hard today TcT still might... we'll see what i'm feeling like in an hour or so. i'm also super hungry tbh so i'm gonna need to eat soon either way
#paramour rambles#i wanna do a fancier version of the map#still in that very... “artistic liberty” format/style#so not accurate dimensions shapes distances etc#just something to provide a general reference#where things are in relations to each other#i have new locations to add as well!#the city of glamoth & diamond's geode dwelling & so forth#i also what to draw what an eclipse actually looks like#bc it's not at all similar to real life solar eclipses

You all know me for the Eclipse mania I continued to post about from April of 2023-May 2024.
I have great news.
It’s not done.
Online there is an interactive map covering the path of the eclipse, run by the Gulf of Maine Science Institute. On it are icons that will lead you to videos, articles, poetry, photos, and all sorts of artwork.
It is run by one Terence Finnegan, Eclipse Coordinator for the Gulf of Maine Institute. They hired him for six months to run all their community eclipse programs, and this is what he is leaving behind for the greater online community.
First off, it is just super fun to click through-
https://felt.com/map/GMRI-Total-Solar-Eclipse-April-8-2024-jYYarRjOQKmrnTI8cdGYsD
But more importantly- you can continue to submit works for this map!
If you caught video, or photos, or filled out scientific notes, or made art, or wrote songs, or have ANYTHING to relay what your eclipse experience was like, they want it on their map!
It’s best to submit before July 3rd, 2024, but hopefully they will continue to take submissions throughout the summer. They are more likely to keep working on it if they have a steady stream of submissions.
You can submit work here: https://www.gmri.org/projects/in-the-path-of-totality-eclipse-2024/
I just think this is the coolest thing, and most of the info on this map so far is what ONE guy went out and collected from local communities and postings online.
Imagine what it could be if the science nerds and artists of tumbler got behind it????
This could be a major resource for anyone looking to study eclipse experiences leading up to future eclipse events.
This could be a major resource for anyone looking to write stories with eclipses as a plot point.
If we want to get super fanciful about it, this could be one of those things aliens some day use to understand us. Did you know, they don’t have total eclipses on any other planet we know of? The moon and the sun only line up with the correct size on our planet.
Or it could just be a fun thing for kids to scroll through when they study sun science in school.
In any case, I think we should get on this.
#total solar eclipse#solar eclipse#solar eclipse 2024#interactive map#gulf of Maine science institute#science nerds#tumbler artists#go forth and create!#I sic you all on this man’s science project#let’s make this a thing#let’s go feral#blow this up#make this man’s year

random shit keeping me up at night:
steve has no plans other than working at family video for the rest of his life until he randomly goes with eddie, jeff and garet to la to check out some shady record deal they've been offered, because being a formerly wanted criminal and survivors of the infamous hawkins town disaster doesn't hurt your cred as a metal band. all ozzy did was bite the head off one little bat.
they've sent out a handful of tapes and some actually get picked up, even though everyone wants money just to take a meeting. steve is planning to plant his pretty ass down on venice beach for a week and do fuck all when he's approached by an excited looking punk girl asking if he's ever acted, modelled, anything? he has a look. he has the look for a project she's working on, she's co-director, would he be interested?
which is how steve harrington end up playing one of the lead roles as an undead jock in the worst b-rate horror flick you've ever seen. the kind that gets passed around at parties as joke. robin makes fun of it for the rest of his life, but he's the best thing in it and it puts him on the map. he's got natural charm and comedic timing, and the fact that he's basically playing himself and everyone adores working with him keeps landing him bigger roles.
meanwhile eddie cannot believe his awesome scream king boyfriend and the fact that he's casually hanging out with some of eddie's heroes. he's filming with john landis. cronenberg wants him for project. barbara crampton gushes about working with him. steve didn't even know who half these people were, is an unrepentant romcom fanboy. when asked by fangoria who he'd like to work with in the future he says john hughes, and everyone thinks its a really funny joke. only eddie knows how much of a dweeb steve really is.
corroded's kind of dead in the water at this point, but they've got a solid first album and steve is pretty close with the director he's working with at the moment, and the film is in development mainly off of steve's typecasting anyway. so steve is like "sammy, what about a psychadelic metal concept album running through the entire film?" and eddie's like "did you just call sam fucking raimi 'sammy'?" and sam is like "sure, set something up" *shrugs and goes back to writing about a demonic witch cult that steve's unassuming quarterback has to fight off with a cursed bible and a nail bat in a small town in iowa (some of which is steve's idea, thank you very much, its a collab for the ages)*
corroded coffin's soundtrack ends up a success, and much later a lauded cult classic. they get signed by someone who doesn't work out of a basement. steve is a hit, and its the first time he sees this many people dressed as a character he played for halloween, which is a trip. dustin sends him a pic from a party at his college wearing his now iconic letterman jacket and the bat and steve has genuinely never been as proud of anything he's worked on.
he lands a tiny part with about two lines as 'guy who gets face eaten' in a john carpenter film and john falls in love and makes him kurt russel's younger brother in a lovecraftian story about a a mysterious extraterrestrial force unleashed during a solar eclipse. eddie munson shakes kurt russels hand for about ten of the wildest seconds of his life at the premiere party. he'll score a song for john years later, and john will remember how much of a hyper fanboy he'd been that night and enough time will have passed thats it funny.
steve takes him to dinner with bruce campbell, who likes to call him kid apparently while steve tells him to fuck off, hes 8 years older and a dick, and apparently this is some injoke between them. eddie is dating a dude that has injokes with bruce campbell. eddie barely eats the entire time, just keeps about half a billion questions about every minute detail of evil dead to a minimum and lets the guy breathe. he's pretty sure bruce knows they're together, even though they dont go around announcing it, and he seems cool. he signs an autograph that eddie only feels a little mortified about asking for while steve rolls his eyes.
and steve is like i dont understand why me being a kickass point guard for three years didnt do shit for you but getting sprayed by a fuckton of fake blood in this terrible stephen king adaptation impresses you but ill take it.
eventually eddie composes a couple of songs solo for a scifi that does reasonably well and just leans fulltime into scoring. as a personal favor, john and him chainsmoke their way through a few collaborations on eddie's first and final solo record in the late 90's. it's indisputably his best work, and he tells steve he can die happy now.
they're just an adorable little horror power couple and i live for it
#when they say selfindulgent this is the definition#scream king steve#is my everything though#eddie munson as a horror movie buff#hyperfxation is waking up with this suddenly and firmly lodged in your brain at 3 am#steve harrington x eddie munson#steddie#eddie munson x steve harrington#steve x eddie

On April 8th, 2024, there will be a total solar eclipse visible in parts of Canada and the United States! Below is a map from planetary.org showing the path.
If you are in the path of the eclipse, do not look directly at the sun, even while it's blocked by the moon– looking directly at the sun (at all, but especially during an eclipse) can cause severe damage to your eyes. You can get filters/eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard for solar viewing, or you can easily make your own pinhole camera to view it indirectly!
Sunglasses are NOT adequate protection. Do not look at the sun through a pinhole camera, binoculars, telescopes, or any other device unless that device is equipped with a solar filter meeting the international safety standard. When in doubt, protect your eyes– indirect viewing methods are safest.
