I'm sorry if I've already talked about this before but I'm gonna do it again. I do actually want a moment of appreciation for Xenoblade 3 and the swears/swear replacements.

It's a pretty cool combo. On one hand there's inherent worldbuilding of a society present with giving the child/young adult soldiers swears and sayings to use that are related to things that are importsnt to their day to day lives that are inherently different from ours/the other places featured in previous Xenoblade titles. It helps place them as "othered" and makes it clear that their society is EXTREMELY different from the other entries in the series.

But also.

It's SO so good to have them have a bunch of swears equivalent to fuck this, fuck that, fuck you, go to hell, etc, that are censored enough to not warrant an M rating but still fits in with. again. them being child/young adult soldiers who swear as much as anyone in their positions should. Like yeah snuff it and spark that n such are kinda silly to hear in practice and not as punchy as a well-placed "fuck", but its a really neat little trick that I'm a huge fan of in a fantasy/scifi series

Here's a thought.

Sam has been irrevocably changed since his coming back from hell (and jumping in of course). So often I find myself looking at later season's Sam, a Sam who's not a firey rebel against what the world wants of him, a Sam who would fight for himself. This is a quietly submissive Sam who can't stand to disappoint Rock No.1. Someone who takes on pain again and again and again because he's so used to it.

Sam from the first seasons it's not the same Sam as the later. This is a broken, traumatized man who excels at being high functioning and I am SO sure of it.

He LOOKS resigned and tired a lot of the time. And it reminds me of hell!Sam begging himself not to remember. hell!Sam knew what he was talking about and what we're seeing in later seasons is his reflection.

And let me throw in a Silmarillion reference because why the heck not. Like the souls of elves go to Mando's halls, Sam's soul needed to go to heaven and heal from all the years of hell he suffered (earthly ones and hell ones). He was not ready to be reembodied in earth and now he's come wrong.

Like 5 different entities warned us about Sam's shredded to ribbons soul. To me, that doesn't sound like a soul that should've been put back in a body.

Hmm, probably either new fic comments or Tumblr asks. Can't say I've had the experience of bookmarks or subscribers enough to have a solid read on them. But comments and asks are someone taking time to say something about my fic, which is klsjadgksdkj! And then I can say something back! And we can have a lil conversation if we want! And I just think that's neat!

24. Which scene/theme was the inspiration for I Can See The Flashing Lights?

Okay for those who aren't aware, the fic in question is a Julie and the Phantoms AU of Jem and the Holograms. I feel like the initial half joking connection was the ghost/hologram thing and matching title format. But more seriously, the things that really made the connection for me (outside of the music) were the found family and grief themes. Holograms has its own non-traditional family thrown together by trauma and loss, and a sort of quest for closure, both of which are big things in JatP as well.

Also, the initial meeting between Rio and Jerrica... How could that NOT be Julie and Bobby?

Oh man. I feel like I usually don't get joy from making characters feel pain. But I guess Alex Mercer is my biggest "I am going to give you my trauma instead of going to therapy and working through it like a normal person" blurbo? Does that count?
