Studio PBP Reimagined by Moonwoodhollow I love Del Sol Valley, it's a great world that unfortunately offers very little when it comes to the prebuilds, which is why I always steered clear of it, except for building in the less glamorous neighbourhood. When a lovely person commissioned me to rebuild Studio PBP in an Art Déco style I was a bit intimidated at first but thanks to the absolutely incredible Bioshock CC-Set (1|2|3) by @surely-sims, @doctorsimcraft and @lumenniveus I was able to recreate Studio PBP as a lounge/bar/nightclub worthy of Del Sol Valley and its celebrities. I hope you'll enjoy this build and escape to the roaring twenties with your sims!

building background
Art Déco is one of the best-known architectural styles of the first half of the 20th century and originated from Jugendstil, Cubism and a few other art and architectural styles (Wiener Secession, Avantgarde, Futurism to name a few) in the latter half of the 19th century. While it's a global architectural style, there are a few regional differences, but for Studio PBP I concentrated on mostly US-American Art Déco buildings and used a somewhat less playful style for the facade that is still very bold. Since Art Déco was also hugely influenced by Ancient Egyptian art and architecture and Mesopotamian Architecture, I added some 'Egyptian' details to the lot in the forms of columns, sphinx and statues. There's so much more to write about this multi-faceted gorgeous architectural style, but this is meant only as a small introduction and to set the mood for the build:

So what do you get?
Studio PBP Reimagined is a 40x30 lot best placed in Del Sol Valley in the Starlight Boulevard neighbourhood. The lot is currently set as a bar lot but is playtested for the lounge and nightclub lot type as well. Currently, everyone regardless of their celebrity status can visit the lounge, if you'd like to change this you'd need to change the entry doors on the first floor. The lot consists of 3 floors and a huge outdoor pool area where your sims can lounge or swim. The first floor is designed to host the Starlight Accolades, whereas the 2nd floor is the bar area of the lot, where your sims can sip cocktails, and hold clandestine business or affair meetings... I won't judge! The 3rd floor is the nightclub portion of the building and is perfect for dancing the night away!

Uses items from the following packs: looks best with almost all packs. But a tip: take a look at the build in the gallery and click on the packs to see the items I used from that pack, it will also look good with fewer packs, as in without the kits.
Download: google drive (430mb) | and up on the gallery: aeromantica (but you’ll need the cc from the drive folder)
Is the cc included? yes.
-> The cc is updated for DX11.
TOU: Please don’t claim as your own or put behind paywalls etc. If you find any issues please let me know + tag me if you’ll use the building, I’d love to see it in your games.
If you like what I do and want to show your appreciation, I have a ko-fi!

His shadows know
Pairing: Azriel x reader | WC: 3.8k | Warnings: none
Summary: His shadows knew you were mates before either of you did and they do everything they can to push the two of you together.
Author’s note: happy 2k kick off day!!! 🎉 this is actually the oldest draft I have - I began writing this in October I think? I loved the idea but got stuck for so long on where to take it so shout out to @tsunami-of-tears for reading it and giving me feedback - this story would be lost to time without you thank you thank you thank you
Tumblr media
Being a scholar in the Winter Court had several perks - your home had a rich and deep history, you spent most of your time reading, and you became great friends with your High Lord and newly appointed High Lady - Kallias and Viviane. Your friendship had great perks, one of which was their allowance for you to travel with them to the Night Court.
Rhysand had spent centuries keeping up the appearance that it was a terrible place to live, that the people were terrible, everything was terrible, leading to none of the high lords ever spending time in the Night Court. After Velaris became known to the other high lords, Viviane wrote immediately to Mor asking for the chance to see the city of starlight. Mor immediately agreed, also requesting for you to come as well. You and Mor were friendly, but she liked you and knew you would love the city.
The three of you winnowed together, being greeted by Rhys, Feyre, and Mor upon your arrival. After some pleasantries, Kallias and Rhysand started speaking about some political matter, so you slipped out and started wandering around the palace, admiring the beautiful architecture and paintings lining the walls. Many portraits hung in front of you - some depicting battles, some depicting members of the royal family.
You were stopped at a beautiful portrait of their newest addition, Nyx, when you felt a little tug on your arm. You looked down to find the cutest little blob of darkness dancing around your arm. It tickled as it swirled and skittered across your skin. The little shadow made the rounds around your body, swirling around your arms, your waist, your legs - as if it was checking to make sure everything’s okay.
“You are adorable” you whispered to it, when a second and third one appeared. “How many of you are there?” You whispered, unsure if it can even respond.
“There’s no keeping count of them. Or keeping track of them, I suppose.”
The voice startles you and the shadows, who wrap around you, almost trying to guide you to the voice. You turn to see the most devastatingly beautiful male you’ve ever seen - dark, sun-kissed skin covered large muscular arms, massive membranous wings behind him. Light poured behind him allowing the wings to look almost pink from the stretched skin, but everywhere else behind him was cloaked in shadows that moved lazily, slithering across his shoulders.
Hazel eyes look down at you, a smirk on his face.
“Are you in charge of them, I suppose?” You ask, a smile grazing your lips.
“I wouldn’t say that. They don’t always listen to me. They seem to like you, though.”
While you were speaking, a few more joined to inspect you, fast blurs of darkness roaming your skin leaving goosebumps in their cold wake.
“Hmm, maybe they see me as a threat. I can be quite frightening, you know.”
“Frightening? Yes, I can see you’re trying to pinpoint your next target. Unfortunately, I do believe you are wasting your time. Studying Nyx’s portrait won’t help you determine his weaknesses.”
“I’ve actually uncovered quite a lot about his weaknesses from his portrait.”
“Pray tell,” he leans against the wall, studying your face.
“I think his weaknesses include both nap time and bed time, along with his incredibly short legs. Dare I say, he’d be very easy to pick up and maneuver.”
“Unfortunately, you’ve picked a target that is so heavily protected you may never get the chance to see him.”
Your face lights up in delight, “so I am a frightening threat? Why else go through the trouble to hide him from me?”
“Nyx doesn’t like strangers,” his tone was so matter of fact, the shadows peered over his shoulders to watch the exchange.
“Hmm, you could introduce us. Then it’ll be a fair fight.”
“Unfortunately for you, I believe he is napping. And disturbing him from a nap is the worst part of my job.”
“So it is part of your job to wake him up?”
“I have to train him against all these frightening threats that wander the halls.”
“I only see one frightening threat.”
The shadows began dancing between you two, pulling you both closer and closer, until you realized you could put your hand out and touch his face. Your fingers twitched slightly at the intrusive thought.
“And does this frightening threat have a name.”
“Y/n.”
He smiles at your name - you assume he already knew who you were, he just wanted you to say it for whatever reason.
“And does the one who has the terrifying job of waking Nyx have a name?”
“Azriel.”
“And you also aren’t in charge of the shadows, but you provide them with suggestions?”
He laughs as he says, “They usually listen to me, especially when I command them, but sometimes they just find something they like and want to investigate.”
“Is that what happened? They wanted to investigate me?”
“Yes.”
“Why? Did they like what they found out in their investigation?”
“Sometimes they investigate pretty things or things they’ve never seen before. They won’t tell me why they came after you, but they tell me they like you.”
“Can you tell them that I like them? Or can they hear me when I talk to them?”
“They can hear you, you just can’t really hear them.”
“They’re very beautiful.” You were talking about the shadows, of course. Definitely not also about the male in front of you.
“Yes they are.” He says, gazing into your eyes, perhaps speaking about more than just the shadows.
The spell between your shared gaze is broken when a door opens and Mor comes running down the hall. “Oh, good, Az found you. We thought you got lost somewhere,” she sounded out of breath, as if she were roaming the halls for you.
“I’m sorry, Mor, you know I love to wander.” You look at Azriel, his hazel eyes meeting your gaze. “You never know what you’ll find.”
-
It had been a long day. Velaris was stunning, a beautiful gem in an otherwise terrifying sounding court, but you desperately need a warm bath and a few moments of peace. You adored Viviane and Kallias, but you needed to be away from him for a few hours. You needed peace and quiet.
And maybe a few moments to think about the beautiful male you were flirting with earlier.
You prepared yourself a bath, lowering your entire body into the warm water. You tilt your head back, enjoying the warmth on your aching muscles from walking around the palace all day, when you see out of the corner of your eye a tiny little shadow.
“Hello, sweetie,” you coo towards it. You can’t help it - they’re absolutely adorable. They remind you of little pets, but less messy or noisy. One or two of them had followed you around during the day. You weren’t sure if anyone else noticed or not, especially because you didn’t see Azriel again for the rest of the day.
The shadow came to the edge of the bathtub, climbing up your arm, nestling into your hair. “You are a silly little thing aren’t you?” You ask it, with no response. “Will you ever speak to me?” You ask, again with no response. “Will you keep me company?” The shadow didn’t necessarily respond, but you felt the shadow’s agreement as it nestled further into your hair as you sank into the bath once more.
After your bath, with the shadow still keeping you company, you put on a nightgown and decided you wanted to go down to the kitchen to look for some cookies, certain that Rhysand would only have the highest quality of late night snacks. You reiterate your thoughts to the shadow, when the shadow holds you back by your wrist for a moment.
“Is everything alright?” The shadow keeps a hold on you, not letting you go. A moment or two passes, and the shadow lets go, causing you to move forward a little. “I can go now?” You ask, which the shadow ignores again, but doesn’t keep you in place any longer. You walk to the door, opening it only to collide directly into someone.
“I’m so sorry I-“ you’re cut off by the laugh of the beautiful Azriel.
“It’s okay,” he says, and you take this opportunity to glance down and you realize he’s wearing a loose pair of trousers with no shirt on. His bare chest was just as beautiful as the rest of him - black ink trailed across his shoulders in an abstract way that your eyes lingered on. If you weren’t so preoccupied by checking him out, you might have noticed the shadows surrounding him, trying to slow him down.
A small blush creeps down your cheeks as you ask, “is your uh tiny general happy and napping?”
He smirks and says “well I’m not sure about how happy he is, but Cassian is definitely asleep. He’s kept on a separate floor because of how loud he snores.”
You hit him in the chest, “you know I wasn’t talking about - wait he sleeps on a different floor? Is it really that bad?”
He motions for you to follow him up the stairs, and before you’re even halfway up, you hear impossibly loud snoring. “Oh,” you giggle, “yeah I’m not sure how anyone sleeps in the same city block as him.”
“You have no idea. Cassian’s really susceptible to pollen, so during the spring time it’s absolutely ridiculous. We once banned him for a week so we could all sleep.”
You laugh, and then try to shush yourself so he doesn’t wake up. “Stop - if I laugh I’ll wake him up.”
“What are you doing up?” He asks, his hazel eyes looking down at you with such fondness you wanted to curl up in his gaze and rest in it for a while.
“Oh I wanted cookies, actually.” You reply. “Why are you awake?”
He stammers a little, not wanting you to know that he was walking by your door to see if you were still awake. He had wanted to see you again, your earlier encounter occupying his thoughts all day long, when he assumed you had turned in for the night.
“Uh, I was doing a patrol.” He settled on.
“Oh yeah? Wanted to make sure the terrifying threat was contained?”
He smirked, “what do you think I’m doing now? I figure if I feed the threat, it might spare me.” He gives you the sweetest looking puppy dog face, and you have no idea where it came from, but it absolutely melts your heart.
“Stop that!” you say, while hitting his chest.
“Stop what?” He says, continuing his pouting.
“You look like a sad puppy dog, stop!”
“Will it make the frightening threat not want to kill me?”
“Hmm, the frightening threat will leave you be, for now.”
You two head into the kitchen, and he immediately starts searching through cupboards.
“Mor and Cassian have the best cookies,” he says, while reaching the higher shelves to pull out random boxes that contain cookie tins.
“I didn’t know being a spymaster included knowing everyone’s taste in cookies.”
“You never know what might become necessary information.”
He looked down at you, offering you a cookie. You accepted it, and as your hands were connected by the cookie, a few shadows danced around your arms to some unheard song. He seemed a little surprised at them, his mouth dropping just slightly.
“Are they always this kind to night court guests?” You asked, nibbling on the cookie.
“Only the pretty ones.”
“And do you always flirt with night court guests?”
He leaned in closer, “only the pretty ones.”
You took a step closer, until you’re almost touching noses.
“And do you always commit crimes with your guests?”
His breath was fanning your face. It smelled of sugar cookie and mint, and you think about what it would feel like to inhale him.
“Only you.”
He pulled out a cookie and offered it to your mouth, which you happily accepted. You don’t break eye contact as you grab the cookie with your mouth, pulling it from his fingers.
“I can’t say I’ve indulged in criminal activity with anyone else.”
His grin grows as you bite into the cookie, a few crumbs falling but a few shadows swoop down to catch them before depositing them in the trash.
“Good. I am in charge of catching criminals in the night court, and I’d hate to have to catch you and lock you up.”
A blush spread over your cheeks. You opened your mouth to respond, when Azriel straightened, his wings going rigid.
“Hide the evidence.” He whispered, as he pulled back and quietly put the cookies away back where they came from. Before you can ask him about the abrupt change, you hear loud footsteps coming down the stairs into the kitchen, before seeing Cassian appear.
He looked at the two of you, surprised that anyone else was awake at this hour. Now he was hoping the two of you wouldn’t stay too long so he could reach his secret stash of cookies.
-
During the afternoon the next day, your little shadow companion kept following you around, almost acting as a guide dog. When you came down for breakfast, it guided you into the seat next to where Azriel was sitting, even guiding your hand to grab an apple at the same time as him, causing your fingers to brush against each other.
Currently the shadow was dragging you through the hallways of the house, into what appeared to be a massive library. It guided you to sit in a chair at a table where there seemed to be some paperwork piled on top. The shadow left you for a moment, returning with a book for you.
“Ah, thank you,” you say, petting at the shadow. It curled around your finger in reciprocation before slithering back into your hair. You began reading the book, only getting a chapter in when someone sat across the table from you.
“The threat has found where I liked to do work,” Azriel stated, looking through his papers. You smiled up at him, “I have to be prepared to strike at any moment, you know.”
He chuckled, a soft look on his face. “Well, if you plan to attack in the library, please try to keep noise levels to a minimum, Clotho gets very upset when I cause too much noise. I’m on thin ice with her.”
“Oh, I see. You have a reputation for hosting parties down here,” you muse.
He looks at you, a lazy grin on his face, “my parties are known across Prythian, only the best, most exclusive guests may attend my library events.”
“And am I on the guest list?” You ask, leaning against the table. “Of course,” he replied, leaning towards you over the table, “you might be a threat, but I’ve heard you’re one hell of a dancer.”
You laugh loudly, then remember where you are and try to quiet down. “I’ll have you know that I’m a lousy dancer, but I would be very interested in attending one of your parties anyway.”
-
The longer you stayed, the more the shadows kept maneuvering around you. Instead of just one you now had a small trio who accompanied you everywhere, hiding in your hair, wisping around your neck and wrists like jewelry when you were alone.
One night at dinner, you’re seated next to Azriel for the fourth evening in a row. You’re not sure if any of his family members pick up on this, but Kallias and Viviane also sit in the same place each night, so perhaps it wasn’t anything noteworthy.
“Can you pass me the potatoes please?”
You knew if you turned to the right, Azriel’s face would be right next to yours and your noses would be able to touch.
“Of course, can’t give you any reason not to trust me.” You winked at him, reaching over for the potatoes. When you turn back, Azriel’s expression has changed ever so slightly, and his eyes search for your face, something you can’t quite pinpoint in his eyes.
“Here you are,” you say, moving the bowl towards him.
“Here I am,” he says, not reaching for the bowl, instead keeping his gaze fixed on you. You laugh, expecting there to be some joke, but he keeps his gaze fixed on you and you find it impossible to breathe with the way he’s looking at you.
Surely someone else notices the way you two are locked in this embrace, but when you quickly glance around the table, no one seems to notice or care.
He reached for the potatoes and looked at them. “How can I be sure you didn’t poison these?”
You laugh, the spell of the moment gone, and you’re able to think properly again.
“I guess you’ll never know.”
He placed the bowl down, smirking. “Better not take any chances then.”
The rest of the dinner continued, everyone amused at Nyx’s babbling and insistence of sitting in Cassian’s lap despite how many times he’s put back into his own high chair, and yet your eyes kept finding those potatoes Azriel never ate, the bowl untouched since he took it from your hands.
-
A quick knock to your door the next morning stops you from packing, and you stride over to open it. “Hi, Azriel,” you say, leaving the door open for him to come in as you turn back around to put your folded clothes away. Several of his shadows move towards you, trying to unfold your clothes when you aren't looking.
“Leaving so soon?” he asks, shutting the door behind him gently, turning back to you with his hands in his pockets. You swat at the shadows, refolding their undoing.
“Unfortunately, my trip always had an expiration date attached to it.”
You breathe deeply, trying to ignore how good he smells when you feel him come up behind you, his chest close enough that you can feel his body heat through your clothes. From behind you, he lifts one of his hands up, almost touching you, but not quite getting far enough before retracting his hand.
He clears his throat, “what did you think of my home court?”
You smile, doing the latches on your luggage. “It’s quite beautiful. Do you get all four seasons here?”
He nods his head in agreement when you turn to face him, not noticing the shadows behind you undoing the latches to your suitcase and unpacking once more for you. “That must be nice,” you muse, “I love Winter, but I am quite tired of the cold.”
“I’m used to the cold, growing up in the mountains you grow quite accustomed to it.”
“Then you’d feel comfortable visiting me in the Winter Court?”
Azriel’s ears reddened at the brazen ask, “I can’t imagine visiting you anywhere and not feeling at ease.”
It was your turn for your ears to redden, but Azriel doesn’t let the silence linger for long.
“Before you go, can I tell you something?”
Surprise overcomes your face, intrigued by his question. You nod, desperate to know what he has to say before you leave. He looked behind you, watching his shadows unpack your bag and put your clothes back where they had come from in the drawers.
“I was very drawn to you when we first met.”
He clears his throat, his wings twitching with nerves. “I was literally dragged to you. I was winnowing elsewhere, but my shadows brought me next to you. I was intrigued why they’d do such a thing,” one of the offending shadows gently passes over his cheek before making its way to greet you.
“They’re funny little things. I thought they were just annoyed with me because I wasn’t sleeping. And then you spoke to me. You were so relaxed with me, immediately. It’s not- most fae aren’t relaxed around me. And I really liked you.”
“I like you too, Azriel.”
He holds up a hand, silently telling you he’s not quite finished. You hold your hands up in mock surrender, allowing him to continue.
“And then you were everywhere. In the hallway, next to me at meals, on the balconies when I landed. It’s like you knew where I’d be.
“Last night at dinner, when I asked you for the potatoes.. I didn’t eat them after you gave them to me.”
You cock your head to the side, confused at this admission over something as minor as potatoes. “Did you change your mind?”
“No, no. I just- I just- the second you were about to hand them to me, I felt it.”
“You felt it?” Confusion coursed through you, completely unsure of where he was going. You enunciated each word, curious over what ‘it’ was.
“I felt it.” His tone held more conviction, but you weren’t any less confused by what he was talking about.
“What did you feel?”
“This.” And you felt a sharp tug in your chest, pulling you towards him, almost knocking you off of your feet. You gasp, holding your arms out to steady yourself, your hands meeting his chest instead.
“That- what- I-“ you look around frantically, unsure exactly of what that was. You look up, finding soft, slight amusement in his hazel eyes. Shadows swarmed around the two of you, circling your arms, your legs, your fingers. They seemed to be saying something, and you closed your eyes to listen.
Mate. Mate. Mate.
You close your eyes, looking deep into your chest, searching for that rope, that tether between your souls. It was shadow and ice, wrapped around each other for as far as you could see.
You gave it a sharp tug, and it was Azriel’s turn to lurch forward. You laugh at his stumbling, holding his elbows to keep him steady.
“Is your offer still valid - for me to visit you in Winter?”
“Only if I can come visit you here, mate.”
Azriel’s knees nearly gave out at the name, the title he’s wanted for centuries. And here you were, right in front of him.
His hand moved hesitantly toward your face, lingering close enough that you could feel the chill from his hand. You nuzzled your cheek into his hand, looking up at him. This beautiful, kind male was your mate.
You had known him for four days - you hardly knew him, hardly knew anything about him or his homeland. But that was okay. You knew his shadows well enough by now.
They were a pretty good judge of character.

Just A Fool | Eris x Reader
Tumblr media
Eris x Reader x Azriel | Eris has a meeting with the Night Court's astrologer but when he enters the observatory he finds you instead. He's captivated by you and can't bring himself to understand why...until the bond snaps.
warnings: reader being delulu, mild angst (I think)
word count: 2,667
a/n: Surprise, surprise, I simply can't write one-shots! Though this can be read as a stand alone fic, it is based off of this one and takes place before. Azriel is not in this part himself but he is mentioned. Since this is in Eris's pov, I wrote it it in third person to make it easier.
Tumblr media
Eris stepped into the observatory, the door gliding open with a quiet hiss. The room was large and spacious, his boots echoing against the smooth, polished floors.  Despite himself, he begrudgingly admitted that the Night Court’s observatory was a masterpiece.
A dome of crystalline glass stretched above, revealing all the beauty the Night Court’s sky had to behold. Constellations glimmered and moonlight filtered through the room, casting a silver glow over the telescopes, charts and shelves lined with celestial tomes.
But it wasn’t the architecture that made his breath hitch and muscles tense.
A female sat curled on a velvet loveseat, her knees drawn up, and a journal braced against them as she wrote. Her head was bent in concentration, her hair falling like a curtain of shadow around her face. She hadn’t noticed him yet, and Eris let her ignorance linger. He watched her silently, taking in every detail he could for a moment longer, unaware of the weight of fate looming over his shoulder.
The dark purple dress she wore was simple yet elegant and the opal pendant that hung around her neck twinkled like starlight against her skin. Eris was certain she was not part of Rhysand’s inner circle—he would have known if she were. And to his knowledge, Keir had no other daughter aside from Mor.
Yet, the ease with which she carried herself in the room, it was as though she belonged there. She must come from a noble family but even then, the question as to why she was here still remained. Especially when he had a meeting with the Night Court’s astrologer. Had this female dared to sneak into the observatory? And how had she not heard his footsteps?
Foolish. Reckless.
And yet, Eris couldn’t deny the curiosity that tugged at him as he took a step closer, something foreign beginning to simmer in his chest.
When the door finally clicked shut, however, she flinched, her head snapping up. Wide eyes locked onto his, and the centuries of practiced composure could not hold him back, his body jerking upright. They stared at one another, the silence between them taut as a bowstring.
Her journal slipped from her lap, landing with a thud as she stood hastily. A flicker of panic crossed her face that was quickly replaced by a guarded expression. It was then that he concluded she had, in fact, dared to sneak in here.
Eris noted the slight flush on her cheeks and the way her fingers twitched. It was as if she were resisting the urge to snatch up the fallen book in fear of turning her eyes away from him.
He moved forward, each step deliberate, the measured thud of his boots filling the space between them. His amber eyes roamed her, unhurried. His lips curved faintly, a teasing spark lighting his gaze.
“Well, I was expecting someone much taller, older, and wiser...”
The female stiffened, her gaze darting to the journal on the floor, then back to him. Eris caught the motion.  “What? Cat’s got your tongue?”
Her jaw tightened, but her voice was steady when she finally spoke. “If it is Lord Damus you seek, that is my father. He should be here shortly. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be right out of your way…”
She stepped toward the journal, her intention clear. But Eris was faster and intent on keeping her with him for longer. A flick of his wrist and the journal flew to his hand, carried by a golden thread of flame. He thumbed the worn cover, glancing down at it with mock intrigue.
“A diary?” he teased, a laugh dancing on his lips as his eyes flicked to hers. “What are you, a child?”
“Give that back,” she snapped, fire sparking in her eyes as she took a step closer.
Eris arched a brow, surprised by the boldness in her tone. The spark in her gaze sent a thrill through him, a pull he couldn’t quite place. He wasn’t one to concern himself with trivialities like this, and yet…
“No,” he replied simply, effortlessly stepping away from her poor attempt to reach him.
When she tried again, he lifted his hand, a flicker of flames dancing at his fingertips in warning.  “What secrets could a Night Court female like you possibly be hiding in here? Some scandalous account of a rival’s terrible choice in gowns? Or some torrid tale of unrequited love among the court?”
His gaze dropped to the page she had left open. He should’ve let her leave. The meeting with her father was much more important than reading her diary but he was now curious about her. And even more curious to know what she had been so entranced by, enough to have not noticed his entrance.
Eris’s eyes scanned the elegant script, and his smirk deepened.  “‘I love everything about him. Not in the way of soft, fleeting things, but in the way stars burn eternal. Steady and unwavering.”
He paused to glance at her. Her cheeks were flushed now but her eyes didn’t waver. There was a defiance in her gaze, even as her lips pressed into a tight line.
Eris’s attention returned to the page, a strange tightening in his chest. He hadn’t expected such emotion from her words and though he couldn’t understand why, it seemed to unsettle him.
“I love the way his eyes, the warmest shade of hazel, hold my heart every time he looks at me, the way his gaze softens. Or the way his shadows linger just a heartbeat longer around me. I wonder if they whisper my name when I’m not near…”
And then he saw it.
A name. Scribbled in a flourish of ink beside what he assumed was hers and framed by a heart. His chest tightened further, this time with something sharper, darker. He knew that name. All too well.
The flame at his fingertips extinguished as his hand fell to his side. He turned to her, his amber eyes blazing, his jaw set.
It should have been trivial. He had hoped for something inconsequential, a petty grievance or a noblewoman’s idle musings. Anything that he could dismiss with a smirk and leave behind without a second thought. Anything–anyone– but him.
Instead, her words tugged at something buried. A tether that always seemed to lead back to that wretched shadowsinger. That damned Illyrian who haunted his thoughts more often than he cared to admit.
Eris didn’t understand it and was unsure he wanted to. He was unsure if he even wanted to understand the female before him but he couldn’t bring himself to turn away from her.
So he allowed his disbelief to take over and settled on what he was familiar with.
“What a pity,” Eris said, his voice quieter but no less cutting. “That someone like you would stoop so low and waste such beautiful words on a bastard like him.”
“You don’t know anything about him,” she replied briskly and then as an afterthought, added, “or me.”
Eris laughed, the sound sharp and incredulous. “Don’t I?” He said, waving the leather journal tauntingly. The reaction she gave was almost amusing—almost. It wasn’t the insult he’d thrown at her that provoked such defensiveness, but the one aimed at him. Her precious shadowsinger.
“I think I’ve learned plenty. Enough to know you are a delusional fool. Or perhaps…”
He stepped forward leisurely, his hands crossing behind his back, like a predator savoring the chase. For every step he took towards her, she took a step back, her breath catching in her throat. He tilted his head, the amused smirk never leaving his face. He took note of the way she tried to steady her breathing. And though he thought her a fool, at least she wasn’t foolish enough to pretend she didn’t feel it. The power humming in the air around him, coiling like fire beneath his skin.
The floor illuminated beneath her weight as she stepped into the massive zodiac wheel etched onto the floor. Eris continued until he had her trapped, her back pressed against the small table in the center of the room that held up a glowing, golden globe. He was on her then, close enough that the heat of him seemed to reach out and curl around her.
She stiffened as he leaned in and then, as if it were his right, he reached out and tilted her chin up with two fingers, forcing her gaze to meet his. His amber eyes swept over her face, mockingly intent.
But when his eyes met hers, the simmering in his chest flared, growing hotter with each passing heartbeat. He brushed it aside, too caught up in the thrill of provoking her to give it any real thought.
“Perhaps, you’re unwell?” he asked, his voice dripping with condescension. “You must’ve taken a fall recently, or been struck on the head as a child? I can’t imagine any other explanation for…”
His voice had trailed off. Now that he was up close, her scent of night blooming flowers–phlox– and amber teased at his senses. It wanted to wrap around him, lure him in. He released his hold on her, reigning in the flare of heat that surged through him. He masked the effect she had on him with a lazy wave of his hand toward the journal he still held. “…this.”
Her brows furrowed, her glare sharp enough to cut. She snatched her journal back from him with such fury he had to bite back a laugh. “I am perfectly well.”
Eris gave a grimace of resigned disbelief. “Just a fool then.”
“Tell me,” he continued, voice rich with feigned curiosity, “does he truly look your way? Or are you merely another shadow to him? Rumor has it he’s quite taken with a certain lovely, cauldron-turned fae... Oh, forgive me, my lady, did I strike a nerve?”
Her knuckles whitened as she clutched the journal tightly to her chest, shielding it as if it could protect her from the sting of his words. But there was fire in her eyes that only intrigued him further.
“He’ll soon realize that she’s not the one for him.”
“Will he? And what makes you so certain? Do you think yourself his destiny? If that’s the case, then I have quite the–”
“Crushes come and go but love stays,” she interrupted him, voice firm. She then looked up towards the domed ceiling. Her voice softened, a wistfulness creeping into her words. “And the stars and the planets, they never lie.”
The floor glowed brighter, the engraved markings on the zodiac wheel shifting with a series of clicks. From the center, a galaxy unfurled, its planets and constellations rising and floating into the air. They remained suspended in a tentative dance, awaiting an order.
An inexplicable flutter tore through his chest as he watched her expression ease at the sight above, a tender gleam in her eyes.
“It’s why you’re here, isn’t it? To see where the planets align for you. To discover if the stars favor your path, if there’s any certainty to be found. To gather hope and dare to dream.”
Eris’s smirk faltered for a split second, his amber eyes narrowing. He quickly masked the slight discomfort, his expression returning to one of controlled indifference. “It sounds like you’re stuck in a dream yourself. One that will be harsh to wake up from.”
But his sharp words didn’t land as he expected. She didn’t flinch or glare back at him. Instead, she smiled at him. A smile that was so sure, so knowing. It truly made him question her sanity.
“Azriel may hold affection for her now, but he’ll love me. One day, he’ll see it. Just as clearly as I do.”
Eris could only stare at her. The certainty in her words, the unwavering belief in some twisted fate. It was maddening. She was maddening. He couldn’t decide if he wanted to continue to laugh at her naivety or… believe her.
Because she was right. He had come to Lord Damus for guidance. In a world as precarious as his, he yearned for a semblance of certainty. He wanted to hope, wanted to dream. Something to cling on to, to help him carry the weight of his burdens.
Her words lingered in the air between them, heavy and determined.
And then, as if the universe itself had conspired to provoke him further, it happened.
The world seemed to tilt beneath his feet. The edges of the room blurred, melting into golden and white light.  All he could see was her. The female whose eyes reflected the endless stars above, whose words burned like a flame deep in his chest.
That simmering sensation in his chest flared again, too scorching to ignore any longer. The fire coursing through his veins roared to life, surging toward her as if recognizing its other half. His other half.
Mate.
The female standing before him, all defying words and starry wit, was his.
And she was in love with someone else.
“Cauldron above,” he cursed, his voice a low murmur. He took a step back, still reeling but forcing his composure to hold.
The sound of the door to the observatory opening snapped him out of his trance. He quickly distanced himself, needing space to regain full control.
“Lord Eris, forgive me if you’ve been waiting–what are you doing here?”
“Oh,” the female–his mate–breathed and he could feel the way her heart quickened. “I was just dusting off the shelves here, father.”
Lord Damus approached a shelf, dragging his finger along the surface. His gaze narrowed, as if sensing dust. The faintest glimmer of energy rippled in the air, imperceptible to most, but Eris saw it settle. It was, after all, his magic.
When Lord Damus raised his finger to inspect it, there was not a speck to be found. A thoughtful hum escaped him, and Eris felt her relax, even if only slightly.
“You may leave now.” Lord Damus said to her, dismissing her as if she were a servant and not his daughter.
“Yes, father.” She politely replied, bowing her head toward him before reluctantly turning to Eris. She hastily did the same, her eyes briefly meeting his once more before she hurried out of the room.
Eris watched her leave, fighting the threat of emotions swirling him. It wasn’t until the door finally clicked shut that he exhaled. As if some weight had been lifted. Though, it didn’t feel any lighter.
“Please, have a seat.” Lord Damus's voice interrupted, pulling Eris from his thoughts.
The Night Court astrologer gestured for Eris to take a seat where she had been previously sitting. But Eris couldn’t bring himself to move. He couldn’t sit there, knowing her scent still lingered.
“Forgive me, Lord Damus, but I need to reschedule.”
“But you’ve come all this way already…,” Lord Damus’s brows furrowed. “Did my daughter say something to you? Allow me to apologize on her behalf. She can be quite unnerving–that one.”
“No, not at all.” Eris lied smoothly. He lifted his hand, and a small note appeared, perched between his fingers. Flames erupted from the edges, quickly eating away at the note until it was reduced to ashes in his palm. “Something has suddenly come up in my court that requires immediate attention.”
Lord Damus considered this, his eyes narrowing as if contemplating the words. Finally, he gave a short nod. “Very well, then. We can reschedule for another time.”
Eris didn’t wait for another word. In the blink of an eye, he was gone. He winnowed directly to his room. Only then did he let his mask slip. Images of her flooded his mind and he braced himself against his bed post with one hand. His other hand clutched at his chest where the emotions were scorching, the fire there forging the threads of fate.
He lifted his gaze, his eyes landing on his own reflection. Eris had called her–his mate–a fool. Yet, as he stood before himself, he realized a bitter truth...
He was the greatest fool of all.

A BRAND NEW SIMS 3 WORLD : SHETLAND HARBOUR
And here we are ... At last :D
10 years ago, Rope crafted a remarkable world, inspired by Starlight Shores, and generously given away to the community : Brightwater.
We embraced this gift, transforming and reshaping it, creating an island to eliminate distant terrain, and thus, Shetland Harbour was born ...
While many creators have fashioned stunning Sims 3 worlds with a Northern charm—like Saaqartoq, Greymont Bay, Lillebror, or Plymouth Isles—ours, stands a little apart.
Shetland Harbour is a unique blend : a touch of Aurora Skies, a hint of Moonlight Falls, and a dash of the unfortunate Barnacle Bay, all interwoven with our own vision of course. It is a vast yet easily navigable world, balanced between lightness and richness, featuring nearly all the Rabbit Holes the game offers.
Our aim was to craft a cohesive and vibrant world, one that feels alive and contemporary, with harmonious architecture and a spirit that invites exploration and delight :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welcome to Shetland Harbour, a picturesque coastal town nestled between rolling green hills and a fantastic bay … It is a beautiful medium/large-sized world, a community nestled on its own secluded island, accessible only by ferry. The town is known for its charming cobblestone streets, a vibrant fish market, and a rich history dating back centuries, dotted with quaint cottages, a bustling coast, and a grand lighthouse standing guard at the harbor’s entrance ...
This hidden gem is a haven for sheep, but don't let that fool you – Shetland Harbour is far from a sleepy place. With its rich maritime history, the town offers a unique blend of tradition and vibrant local culture.
Designed to capture the essence of a northern European island, Shetland Harbour offers a self-contained community with 100 lots in total : 65 residential lots + 35 community lots. Each Lot ( except the Old Renovated Factory ) is fully furnished.
In addition, there are multiple sheep ( all by Murfeel ) fields here and there – the latter being especially dear to the local culture, a close-knit community, where the ocean's presence is always felt and the simplicity of rural life is celebrated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shetland Harbour combines a lively downtown with peaceful suburbs and serene neighborhoods, featuring quaint cottages, charming gardens, and scenic paths through lush greenery.
The town's historic churches, like Old Church, Albert Church or Lux Chapel, are steeped in tales of ancient rituals and ghostly apparitions ... Albert Church, built on a Druidic site, is haunted by druid spirits, while Lux Chapel is known for the ghost of a sailor, seen on stormy nights ...
The mysterious stone circle inside the Graveyard, Ghost Place, adds to the island's mystical allure. Rumored to be a portal to another realm, it activates during celestial alignments, with visitors reporting strange occurrences. Town elders speak of a prophecy foretelling the return of ancient spirits and the awakening of the island's mystical powers. Signs include a rare star alignment, the stone circle's awakening, and three chosen individuals with the island's ancient bloodline ...

• Harbor Bay : The central feature of Shetland Harbour is its expansive bay. The bay is a natural harbor with calm, crystal-clear waters, making it ideal for fishing and sailing. It is surrounded by gently sloping hills and cliffs that provide stunning vistas of the sea. The marina is bustling with fishing boats, sailboats, and yachts sometimes … It’s the hub of maritime activity, with a fish market ( aka Grocery Store ), boat repairs, and a sailing club ( aka Business and Journalism Center )
• Lighthouse District : Right beside the Harbour, stands the Lighthouse Point, this district features historical homes and buildings, including a Norman cottage, a strange Diner and higher into the Hills, a fantastic museum dedicated to the town’s maritime history and a recent Hospital ready to welcome all the citizens of Shetland Harbour :)
• Beaches : The Coastline is dotted with sandy beaches, perfect for beachcombing, picnics, and bonfires. These areas are popular spots for locals and tourists alike. And you may want building some Coastal Houses for your Sims which is possible almost all alongside the sea ;)
• Old Town : The heart of Shetland Harbour is the Old Town, characterized by cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and a charming town square. Shetland Harbour's downtown area is a kinda picturesque pedestrian square, and quaint paths perfect for leisurely strolls …The Old Town includes the Town Hall, the Old Toad, the Talking Dog, a Fish and Chips, and even a Geek Store, all of them under the shadow of one of the oldest shop of the Island : the Elixirium ...
• Rolling Hills : Surrounding the town are rolling green hills covered in wildflowers and dotted with grazing sheep. These hills are perfect for hiking and offer panoramic views of the town and the bay. Beware of the fog !
• Forests and Woodlands : To the north of the town are more dense forests and woodlands with waterfalls upstream of the river which separates part of the island. These areas are home to various wildlife and provide a natural retreat for the residents. There are several well-maintained trails for hiking and exploring :)

You asked for more motel revivals so I'll share one of my current favorites: the Starlight Motor Inn of Charleston, South Carolina.
Originally opened as the Host of America Motel in 1961, this two-story modular motel is comprised of stackable, pre-built, and fully furnished units originally produced on an assembly line in Thomson, Georgia, likely making it the first of its kind in the country. The motel survived for decades and went through a name change to the Star of America Motel. In 2007, it was on the verge of death. The city of Charleston deemed it hazardous due to fire and building code violations. It reopened briefly before closing down again in 2018.
Now called the Starlight Motor Inn, this motel was been lovingly restored with help of lead architectural historian Brittany Lavelle Tulla, who in 2019 was able to convince the city to take the property off of its list of condemned sites. In 2020, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the motel features 51 retro vintage-style guest rooms, a pool and cocktail lounge. The infrastructure and original midcentury design remain intact with minimal alteration.

This is it. The last and final part. It is a little longer than the other parts since I did not want to make anyone suffer anymore. :D Thank you to everyone who joined on me on this journey and all the likes, comments and shares you have given my story. It was only meant to be a one-shot and now it became a little series. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. xoxo PART I , PART II , PART III
⭐ WHEN THE STARS ALIGN ⭐
Tumblr media
The Hall of Echoes* was named for its perfect acoustics. Every word, every whisper, every step echoed back a little too clearly—an architectural miracle and, today, a curse.
You stood near the far end, half-hidden behind a pillar adorned with carved leaves, trying to be small in a room built for spectacle. The council meeting was not closed, though you hadn’t planned to attend. You had wandered in by accident - or perhaps fate, your heart whispered - but now you stayed, curiosity holding you captive.
Gil-Galad stood in the centre, speaking with composed grace to a group of elven envoys cloaked in green and gold. From the Greenwood, you gathered. Proud, stiff-backed, and not nearly as subtle as they believed themselves to be.
They listened, nodded, responded in polite tones … and then, without missing a beat, one of them spoke words you would not forget.
“Forgive me, my lord,” said the elder among them, his voice smooth like river stones. “But we have heard a rumour. That your affections have… wandered into unexpected territory.”
The air did not shift. No one gasped. But it froze.
Gil-Galad said nothing at first. His stillness was its own kind of power. You watched him, heart in your throat.
“And what territory might that be?” he asked coolly.
A younger envoy chimed in - too eager. “The half-elven woman who arrived with Lady Galadriel. Sweet-faced, from the forest cottage, is she not? There’s talk she’s caught the High King’s eye.”
It was meant to be lighthearted. A jest. But it cut like a blade.
“Most curious,” the elder added, with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “We had assumed the King would choose a more ... politically favourable match.”
That was when your breath caught. And not from the comment itself, but from the way Gil-Galad looked at them.
As if they were beneath the forest floor.
His voice, when it came, was low and firm. “You may discuss the terms of alliances. You may offer wisdom about borders and trade. But the matter of my heart is not yours to weigh.”
That silence? This time, it thundered.
He turned on his heel, cloak sweeping the floor like a shadow. His steps carried him past your hiding place, and for one suspended moment, his eyes found yours.
Not wide with panic. Not hard with shame.
Calm.
A quiet promise, unspoken: I see you. I am not ashamed.
But you were.
Not of him. Never of him.
You were ashamed of how your knees trembled. Of how deeply the words of strangers had sunk their roots into your chest. You fled the hall before anyone could speak to you, slipping out through the archways into the open air. You didn’t stop running until you reached the far end of the gardens, where the trees grew wilder and less tamed.
There, beneath a willow tree, you sat, hands trembling, mind racing.
You didn’t belong here. Not really.
Not in marble halls filled with sharp smiles. Not in whispered politics and well-bred expectations.
What did you think would happen? That he would throw away centuries of duty for a kiss under starlight?
You pulled your knees to your chest, the soft rustle of the leaves above your only answer.
And that’s when the thought hit you: Maybe it would be better if you left.
Before this turned into something the world could destroy.
Before you let yourself hope. You looked up and watched the branches of the tree dancing in wind, hoping they would give you advise on how to fare with your heart.
But the willow tree offered no answers.
Its long silver-green branches swayed gently in the breeze, brushing the grass like fingertips against water. You sat beneath its shade, arms wrapped around your knees, watching the late afternoon sun dip slowly behind the canopy. Every sound of Lindon felt miles away now - its laughter, its elegance, its whispered cruelties.
You didn’t notice Galadriel until her shadow fell beside you.
“You used to hide like this when you were a child,” she said quietly, lowering herself to the ground beside you. “Always in the trees. I never had to look hard. I just had to listen for the birds. They never stopped singing when you were near.”
You smiled faintly, but didn’t speak.
“I was in the hall,” she added after a pause. “I heard what they said.”
You flinched, the memory still sharp and raw.
“And I saw his face when they said it,” she continued. “He looked like he was ready to burn the entire court to the ground.”
That pulled a laugh from you. Soft, shaken. “He shouldn’t have to defend me.”
“He didn’t have to,” Galadriel said, her voice gentle but firm. “He chose to.”
Silence stretched between you again, broken only by the rustle of leaves.
“I don’t belong here,” you said finally, your voice only a whisper.
Galadriel didn’t argue. She didn’t try to convince you otherwise.
“I know it feels that way,” she said. “They will always find a reason to say you are too much of one thing, not enough of another. Too mortal, too elven, too in between. But none of them have his heart.”
You looked at her, eyes wide.
“That man - Gil-Galad, your High King, my commander, the weight of half the world on his shoulders - he has never looked at anyone the way he looks at you.” She smiled, soft and sad. “And he never will again.”
Your throat tightened. “What if I ruin him? What if this, whatever this is, makes everything harder for him?”
Galadriel looked away, toward the trees. “Love always makes things harder. But it also makes them worth it.”
A breeze danced past, lifting a strand of hair from your face. You felt her hand slide into yours.
“But if you must go,” she whispered, “I won’t stop you. Just don’t go without knowing the truth: he is braver when you are near. Stronger. Lighter. If you leave, the world will not end. But it will grow a little dimmer for him.”
You rested your head against her shoulder, tears clinging to your lashes.
But even after Galadriel left, long after the sun had dipped below the trees, that uncertainty remained.
You didn’t sleep that night.
***
The stars watched in silence as you packed your things.
The moon was high, cloaking Lindon in silver as you moved quietly through the guest quarters. You folded each garment with shaking hands, tucked letters and herbs into your bag with the quiet resolve of someone trying to disappear without making a sound.
You didn’t leave a note. There was nothing to say.
As you closed the clasp on your satchel, you stepped out into the hallway, trying not to look back.
But the moment you stepped into the moonlight … he was there.
Gil-Galad.
Standing at the end of the corridor, lit like something pulled from a dream.
“Where are you going?” His voice was low. Not demanding - pleading.
You froze. Words tangled on your tongue.
“I…” You looked down. “I don’t belong here. You know that.”
“I don’t care,” he said, taking a step forward.
“I do,” you whispered. “I care that they look at me like I’m less. Like I’m wrong. And I care that you have to fight their judgment just to - just to love me.”
He came closer. Slowly. Carefully. Like you might vanish if he moved too fast.
“Let them talk,” he said, his voice breaking slightly. “Let them doubt, let them scorn. I will not let their fears dictate my heart.”
You looked up at him, eyes wide and shimmering. “You can’t choose this path lightly.”
“I’m not,” he said. “But I am choosing it. I’m choosing you.”
Another step. Now he stood before you, the scent of cedar and night air clinging to his cloak.
“I am tired of waiting for the stars to align,” he whispered. “Of hiding my heart behind diplomacy. I was a king before I knew what love was. But now…” He reached for your hand, pulling it to his chest.
“Now I know. And I don’t want a crown without you beside me.”
Your breath caught.
“Stay,” he said, voice breaking fully now. “Stay with me. Not as a guest. Not as a secret. Stay … as my queen. Forever.” His words hung in the air like a prayer offered to the stars.
But there was a long silence and you simply stared at him.
Even the stars waited for your answer.
The world narrowed. No palace walls, no crown, no courtiers; just his voice, your heart, and the wild thundering silence that followed.
A part of you wanted to say yes immediately, to fall into him and let the promise of forever bloom between your hands like moonflowers in the dark. But something inside held you still, trembling at the edge of everything you had ever wanted.
“I…” you whispered. “I’m afraid.”
His hand tightened gently around yours.
“So am I,” he replied, eyes never leaving yours. “But I’m more afraid of living without you than I am of any crown. Any war. Any whisper.”
Your throat burned. “What if I’m not enough? What if I fail you? What if I can’t wear this life the way you deserve?”
He brought your joined hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to your fingers with reverence.
“Then we’ll fail together,” he murmured. “But you are already more than enough. You are everything, and I would face a thousand years of doubt just to spend one with you.”
A pause.
And then, like breath returning to lungs after too long underwater, you smiled.
Tears clung to your lashes as you leaned forward, resting your forehead against his.
“You ridiculous elf,” you breathed.
His chuckle was soft, relieved.
“Yes,” you whispered.
He stilled. Pulled back just enough to see your face.
“Yes?” he echoed, like he couldn’t believe it.
“Yes,” you repeated, laughter catching in your throat. “I’ll stay. I’ll be yours. Your queen. Forever.”
And in the quiet corridor, with no one to see and no court to judge, he kissed you again.
This time, it wasn’t under starlight or stolen in shadow - it was the beginning of forever.
⭐ Epilogue ⭐
The forest was just as it had been.
Tall trees swayed like old sentinels. Light spilled through the canopy in golden ribbons. Birds sang in the branches, and the air tasted like the first day of spring.
It was here that you had wandered once, uncertain and aching, chasing silence and solace. It was here you had met him—Gil-Galad, not as a king, but as a stranger in the woods, carrying too much weight in his eyes.
And it was here, now, that you walked together, hand in hand, with no crown between you.
You had left the celebration behind, slipping away from the grand halls and ceremonial toasts. The wedding, the coronation, the speeches - it had all passed like a dream.
But this moment was real.
Barefoot on mossy ground, your fingers laced with his, his hair braided with small silver leaves. He had insisted on the crown being left behind for the evening, declaring the trees did not care for titles.
“I almost didn’t come this far,” you said, brushing your fingers against a fern.
“You almost left,” he replied gently. “And I would have followed.”
You turned toward him, eyebrows raised. “Really?”
“I would have run barefoot through every shadow of Middle-earth,” he said, entirely serious. “I would have crossed oceans, scaled mountains, argued with Elrond—”
“Bold, truly,” you teased.
He smiled, that rare, dazzling smile that made your knees go soft.
“I would have found you,” he said, more softly now. “Even if you had hidden behind a thousand trees. My heart already knew the way.”
You leaned into him, head resting against his shoulder as he wrapped an arm around your waist.
“I used to think the forest was my only home,” you whispered. “But it turns out it was just waiting for you to arrive.”
The wind stirred the leaves above, like an unseen choir giving its blessing.
You stayed there for a long time, listening to the hush of the woods, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath your cheek, and the knowledge that no matter what storms may come - this place, this love, would always remain. *made up name :D

A change in tides part 01

The golden banners of coronation still fluttered in the water like silk constellations, gently pulled by the currents weaving through the towers of Velorion. Though the ceremony had ended, the capital shimmered with the breath of celebration—echoes of song in coral chambers, silver petals dancing along the marble steps. The crown now sat on your brow, weightless but immeasurable.
You stood alone on the highest terrace of the palace, overlooking the kingdom that had risen with you.
Velorion was beauty carved into legend—its streets paved in white shell and gold-veined stone, bridges laced with glowing kelp and moon-glass, and high towers that spiraled like starlight into the sea’s expanse. The whole city glowed beneath a net of bioluminescent lights strung between spires, an artificial night sky to mirror the one above. They called it the Kingdom Beneath the Sailing Stars—a realm not ruled by steel and tide alone, but by radiance, legacy, and grace.
You were not a stranger to it. You were born into this kingdom, raised in its heart, and crowned by its devotion. The people did not fear your power—they had watched it bloom from the moment your veins first shimmered with golden-red light. You had mastered it before you ever wore a crown. To them, you were not a weapon, but a wonder. Their sun beneath the sea.
You passed down the marble steps, nodding to guards clad in armor that glinted like dawnlight on water. They stood not out of fear of what you could do, but out of reverence for who you already were. In the Hall of Songglass, your steps echoed with quiet music—a resonance built into the architecture itself. The air carried the scent of ocean lilies and sea-wax candles still burning from the night before.
You paused before a tapestry older than Velorion itself. It depicted the descent of Asterion, the star-god who fell from the heavens, dying as he plunged into the ocean. In the woven starlight, his divine essence scattered—his light seeding the royal line of Velorion. Every monarch since had been marked by a unique blessing. Your great-grandfather wore a crown that revealed the truths others dared to hide. Your grandmother cloaked herself in silence and storm. Your mother ruled with a halo of healing light, her touch enough to knit flesh and quiet pain.
Your blessing was stellar anchor, granting you the sword—Celestial’s Edge—a blade forged of a collapsed core star, summoned only by your will. It was not a weapon you learned, but a gift given, the way a torch is passed from one sacred hand to the next. Its weight did not burden you. Its light did not burn you. It belonged to you the moment your fingers closed around it, as though the god who gave it had always meant it to rest in your palm.
Later that day, you walked the market lanes below the palace. You wore no disguise. There was no need. Children greeted you with laughter. Vendors called your name, offering golden pomegranates and pearl-wrapped sweets. An old woman, her skin like dried kelp and her voice like smoke, pressed a small token into your palm—a carved replica of your sword, bound in silver string.
“You shine like your mother,” she said softly, her blind eyes turning toward you. “But stronger, brighter, like her heart grew wings.”
You smiled, touched her hand, and tucked the token into your sleeve.
Back in the throne chamber, as twilight settled through the city’s dome of light, your advisors gathered in a ripple of tension. The Gathering of the Eight Kingdoms drew near. It would be your first as king—a summit where rulers from Poseidonis to Crastinus would come together, speak in veiled threats, and pretend to be allies.
Poseidonis, proud and ancient, still called you a ceremonial child. Tritonis scoffed at your elegance, calling you “the silk prince.” Xebel mocked your silver-threaded robes and polished diplomacy. Crastinus whispered that your blade was more theater than threat. Even the mystics of Nanauve had begun to cast doubt—if only in riddles.
Shaeyris, sharp-tongued and secretive, called you a plaything of a dying god. Neptunos watched with silence, but silence, in court, was rarely neutral.
They called you the God-Touched King. To your people, it was a blessing. To the others, a pretty title for a prince with no scars.

'Commissioned by Marina Ward, the illustrious actress who until this day holds the record with most nominations for the Starlight Accolades (14) and wins (5), Acacia Park has been one of the most famous celebrity mansions since the 1950s. The house was built in a straightforward midcentury architectural style and boasts a lush garden, a spacious pool and a greenhouse, where Marina grew her rare orchids. A hobby that the actress took up in her later years. Her daughter Judith, also a famous actress, grew up in Acacia Park, which she called her home for more than 40 years and is now parting with it with a heavy heart. ‘I'm just too rarely there, my centre of life has been Champs le Sims for many years and Charles and I just don't get round to looking after the house.’ The film diva is therefore selling the house and is hoping for a buyer who ‘appreciates Acacia Park and its history and breathes new life into it.’ (Architectural Digest: Del Sol Valley Special Issue)

First bookbinding project a success. I think that my cat approves because he would not stay out of my photos. Five months in the making, but I couldn't be more pleased with the results.
I started with @armoredsuperheavy's amazing fanbinding tutorial to create a typeset of each work in @erisenyo's Burning Bright AU published on Ao3. Then had to reread the works in the new format and edit as I went to make sure everything was formatted correctly, (combined word count somewhere around 1.3 million) that took over a month all by itself.
I picked up a copy of Introduction to Bookbinding & Custom Cases by Tom and Cindy Hollander from my local library, to look at some detailed how to images and get multiple perspectives on construction methods. Excellent book, I do recommend.
My hunt for materials included a trip to Detroit with a side stop at Blick to look at decorative papers in person. Blick and the fine people at Hollander’s ended up having everything I needed to make covers. So between my brother kindly 3d printing me a punch cradle, making a DIY sewing frame of my own invention (courtesy of scrap lumber and a trip to the Lowe's hardware department), and three reams of late night printing, I managed to amass all my supplies.
Folding three reams of paper into signatures (the little bundles you sew together) takes about five days if you don't want to lose your mind or your place, and longer if you discover you need to fix things because that definitely happened. Then you get to unfold them to stab holes in them which is as terrifying at first and therapeutic by the end as it sounds.
Next came weeks of sewing books together, a magical process. I learned three new knots, repeatedly stabbed myself (because all forms of creation forcibly demand blood sacrifice) , and felt like I was roleplaying a monastic librarian from the time of Gutenburg. That's 600 years ago, 24ish generations, over 8million ancestors since then (by geometric progression, which excludes the possibility that any of my peasant ancestry is from small towns which is you know likely but I digress) and here I sat sewing pages together in a basement because story is the most sacred of human arts as it binds communities together and shapes perceptions of the self and our brethren, of outsiders allies and enemies, of the world as we know it and as it may come to be. Did I mention sewing books felt magical.
Then came the glue. So much glue. Multiple types of glue. All sticky. all stuck to me. I smeared glue with my fingers like a child.
At last it was time for the covers. Choosing combinations of the decorative papers and bookcloth and making sure I could get enough out of each material for what I needed. Precise cutting so many thanks to the architecture school professors who showed me how to properly cut chipboard. Then measuring and gluing, and more measuring, and more gluing. At last press a little groove by the spine and repeat eleven times.
Then I get to impress all my people with my latest and possibly coolest maker skill unlock, I am a book binder.

Kendrick Bangs Kellogg (1934 – February 16, 2024)
One of the leading pioneers of Organic architecture was Kendrick Bangs Kellogg, an architect from San Diego in the United States of America. Although his first influences came after meeting the man responsible for coining the term “Organic Architecture,” Frank Lloyd Wright, Kellogg’s work, is unique. He believes that great architecture is born out of risks and these risks help make the structure distinctive.
His work can truly make the user experience the space and its surroundings. This experience is so acutely possible because of the detailing that goes into all his designs. Each element awakens different senses. The choice of material helps create a form, that although it might look heavy, instantly connects you to the ground and environment surrounding it.
Despite looking heavy, Kendrick masterfully adds a sense of fluidity into his designs, which bring about a sense of harmony between the structure and its context. Throughout his long and influential career, Kellogg has made many structures ranging from residences to restaurants.
1981 - The Sam Yen House, aka Lotus House, aka Moonlight House, 7799 Starlight Drive, San Diego CA.

2024 Velaris Advent Calendar
I had the pleasure of collaborating with Gadget4entertainment on their 2024 Velaris Advent Calendar, officially licensed by author Sarah J. Maas! I illustrated the entire packaging, inside and out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main illustration features Velaris, the City of Starlight.
Tumblr media
I'd just visited Positano before the shop contacted me for the project, so the memories of some corners of the town were still fresh in my mind. The house on the left was inspired by a hotel built on a curving uphill road, for example, and the houses on the right were vaguely inspired by all those hotels and restaurants you can see from above (at level, you might not notice them, but when you're directly above and you peer down through the trees, you'll go, "Oh, there's a nice, expensive hotel down there!").
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The town divided by the river was inspired by the fjords of Kotor, Montenegro, which I visited last year (Kotor is absolutely beautiful, and the food was great to my Italian palate).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It felt wonderful to pour all of my emotions and memories into this piece. I think this might be my 'ultimate' version of Velaris. I don't see myself painting it differently in the future.
Then, we have the cases (house-shaped boxes) containing the single items.
Tumblr media
When I first started working on the project, I only thought of drawing something inspired by a combination of gothic and Persian architecture. But then, fortunately, I had this idea to base each house on the Archeron sisters, and that gave me the chance to really get creative and explore different elements, styles of architecture and colours.
Sadly I only recently realised that the back of the house and the left side don't fit together seamlessly because I drew the house from left to right without keeping the wraparound box in mind - so that's totally my fault, and I hope it's not too noticeable!
I also hope these mockups don't look too bad. I used the free transform tool in PS instead of 3D, so the perspective might be a little off.
I truly enjoyed working on this calendar. I rarely get to design packaging or even work with an Italian company, so this project was a breath of fresh air!
