Okay I promise I will try to shut up about this specific moment in AA soon but. The dive into the past in Turnabout Succession with the whole Magnifi Gramarye case and its aftermath is already heartbreaking on its own but what I think is the most heartbreaking thing about it is how the gameplay itself carries out. I mean they could've let the player watch the case unfold as usual and then have Phoenix simply yell "HOLD IT!!" and present the single piece of evidence that got him disbarred completely on his own (no less tragic, but at least it's like hearing someone recount a memory) but they actually gave the player the choice. Or the illusion of it
A screen pops up with two single options, "Show evidence" and "No need", and of course you hesitate to click on either because this happens in the last few stretches of the game and you already know what consequences this will have. It will be bad. You try to change the outcome, click "No need". After some quick dialogue, it goes back to that screen. You click it again. It circles back to those two options. And again. And again. And then you realize you never really had a choice after all and you click "Show evidence" and then of course it ends badly. Which you knew already, but couldn't prevent
With this game dynamic you're not just witnessing this story—you become part of that case. You're forced to give the wrong advice even if you're aware it's wrong, and you're forced to knowingly doom Phoenix Wright with your own two hands
#saw a tiktok of a slideshow that started with that one image of the trolley problem#except it was edited to only have one track#and then there were screenshots of that case#i had to put my phone down and think about it for a little bit#ace attorney is about cross-examining parrots and also about heartwrenching stories of people getting their lives ruined. what about it#i wonder how fucked up it would be if this case was at the beginning instead#like. you either choose to show the evidence because it's an obvious win. and you're left with the aftermath#or you're suspicious and click 'no need' only to end back to that screen again and again until you comply#all while being aware that something is very very wrong#finding out about what happened at the very end is much more interesting#narratively it's probs the best choice#but it would put you basically in phoenix's shoes wouldn't it. same emotions same thoughts#'oh a little girl gave me this evidence. it must be trustworthy'#anyway i'm gonna cry#not only bc of that but also because of the 2d art. i love the new cases but the 3d creeps me out a bit sometimes#the style in apollo justice was PEAK#ace attorney#phoenix wright#apollo justice#lonely thoughts

I saw @sunset-peril 's Justicykes template and I couldn't resist myself. I had to make a version with the old AA-DGS shipping I had for so long (kinda validated by Justicykes being a thing).
For context, their ages are relative to when Apollo and Phoenix time traveled to the past, approximately a few months after DGS2 events (Meiji 36 is equivalent to 1903).
Took the quote from an old Justrade/Ginapollo aesthetic I made when I started this blog (that was a long time ago holy-).
Yes, I left Apollo's height as 5'5" instead of 5'0". Let the man feel tall.
While they're not particularly against the idea of having kids, they don't really have strong desire to have one either.
Credits to @junnie133 for the pairing template
#Ace Attorney#Gyakuten Saiban#Dai Gyakuten Saiban#The Great Ace Attorney#Apollo Justice#Gina Lestrade#Justrade#Ginapollo#Ah the wonders of my brain#what started off as a crackship for my Lost in Time AU became a serious pairing (with planned marriage and a daughter as well)#Idk I just found it cute if they interact together#Gina being a tsun while Apollo is either oblivious or being a tsun back#They love Toby the dog :3#The amount of times they're being on a different end of the sliders lmao

Ace Attorney Lawyers Ranked By Their Abilities in Physical Combat
Winston Payne: I’m pretty sure the average Tumblr user could kill Winston Payne with their bare hands.
Sebastian DeBeste: Look, the only reason why this wimp ranks higher than Payne is because he is so sopping wet pathetic that there is a significant chance that his opponent will just start feeling bad about kicking his ass and punch themself in the face instead.
Klavier Gavin: While Klavier is a physically fit young man who is known to keep his cool in extreme situations, he is also a giant law-abiding nerd who has never thrown a punch at anything that isn’t an inanimate wall. It probably wouldn’t be that hard to shove this guy into a locker.
Miles Edgeworth: Look, Miles is an even bigger locker-worthy nerd than Klavier. Anytime anyone, friend or foe, suggests a violent solution he just gets freaked out and begs for them to follow procedures. And no AA Lawyer is more easily thrown off his rhythm and startled than he is. He might have some bulk under the magenta and frills (or at least some impressive leg muscles from climbing 12 flights of stairs every day for like seven years), but he has no idea or will to actually use them in a fight. However, he did try and stare down a man who was aiming a gun at his back that one time and managed to keep his cool throughout all of this.
So like, he’d probably talk a big game and try and intimidate his opponent into not engaging - but if that won’t work he will get his ass thoroughly whooped. And then he’d try to sue them, which is what his threats were about all along.
Apollo Justice: Actually a considerable step up in power-levels from the previous ones. Apollo might be smol, but he is Done With Your Shit and this gives him Strength. Not to mention that one time he successfully tanked an explosion. His famous Chords of Steel can also serve as a tactic to confuse or weaken his enemies.
Kristoph Gavin: Although he is primarily known for his schemes and poisoning, he did kill a man with a single blow to the forehead with a bottle, showing he does have some decent upper-body-strength to use in a fight. And being known as ‘the Coolest Defense in the West’ means he can keep his calm even during hectic combat. But he’s also very pretentious and his constant pontifications might just be the perfect opportunity for someone to smash his face in.
Blaise Debeste: Okay, look, is Blaise a scary tall man who successfully stabbed a woman to death with a candelabra and constantly carries around a deceptively-powerful lighter and has like, implied, motorcycle gang background? Yes. But also I think anyone who encounters Blaise Debeste face-to-face is overcome with such bloodlust rage that it might give them an edge in the battle against him.
Mia Fey: Mia ranks fairly high on the Battle Scale considering the one time she was faced with a violent altercation she just tried to escape and it… didn’t end well.
However, in the two times we get to play as her it’s also clear that she wants to Punch. All of the Things. While Apollo is fueled by being Done With Your Shit, Mia has righteous anger - so I think in a situation where she is actually prepared to do battle she would be able to throw a few decent punches. Also assuming we are talking about Mia while she was still alive, there’s also her Spirit Channeling powers to account for. While we’ve never seen them on screen, Maya told us they are “first rate” and I believe her. Maybe she could channel the spirit of a great warrior to try and get an edge in combat?
Manfred Von Karma: While he also has the same Bloodlust-Inducing-Factor as Blaise, and he does seem less physically fit even though they’re about the same age - I feel like his cane could do more serious damage than Blaise’s lighter. And he has that dangerous fucking Stun Gun on him to easily neutralize opponents. Plus, he did tank that one gunshot he got in the shoulder. Manfred’s opponents might have Rage on their side, but also you cannot underestimate the power of his sheer Spite.
Godot: On one hand, Godot has shown an ability to keep his cool in very dangerous situations. He can smash a coffee cup with his bare hands and barely react, showing that he’s decently strong and resilient to pain. And he is yet another proud (?) member of the exclusive “Lawyers With a Body Count Club”. And while stabbing a waifish, 155cm college student (and part time-poisoner) in the back isn’t exactly the most epic demonstration of battle prowess in the history of Anime Lawyers - he did it (and moved the body and doctored the crime scene and prosecuted in court) while tanking a knife slash in his face, showing his pain-resilience once again, as well as general tenacity that would also be useful in battle. Also, he can summon an infinite amount of hot coffee mugs at will, which must make for a decent improvised long-ranged attack.
On the other hand, his health is also heavily implied to be deteriorating and that he’s basically dying over the course of the final case… possibly due to all of that physical exhaustion. If a fight goes longer than just a single backstab, I feel like these health complications are gonna harm Godot’s performance.
Phoenix Wright: Okay, so this is actually the hardest one to place. I keep flip-flopping on where to put him, especially compared to Mia, and Apollo. Because unlike most other lawyers currently ranked below him, he is a disaster when it comes to being on the offensive; Phoenix Wright is a total wimp who has never returned a punch in his life. However, he is also almost supernaturally durable, unbelievably lucky and deceptively strong. If a solid iron door, a raging freezing river and a speeding car didn’t manage to take him down, what chance does a fellow human, even a more combat-capable one, have???
Calisto Yew: She’s not even a real-lawyer! She’s a Secret Spy who successfully pretended to be a Lawyer for years! She’s got a gun, she’s got a knife, she's got crossbow bolt as hair decorations, she probably has some combat training from her time in Interpol… While she’s clearly more specialized for espionage and infiltration, and not as physically strong as Lang, she’s still got an impressive advantage over most of the regular people who went to Law School. In fact, her skill with barefaced lies and manipulation might also be a skill she could use in a fight to catch her opponent off-guard.
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi: Nahyuta is, in fact, one of the few AA Lawyers to canonically participate in what I would unambiguously call a ‘fight’ (rather than a ‘murder’), when he single-handedly disarmed and apprehended a Defiant Dragon rebel in the sorta-canon ‘Spirit of Justice’ Prologue video.
Like, that rebel guy probably isn't the world's greatest warrior, but the Defiant Dragons have been around for enough time to give their members at least some basic self-defense/combat skills… more so than the average lawyer on this list at minimum. And Nahyuta very easily crab-stomped him. Showing that he has strong nerves, some amazing reflexes and the martial art skills to knock a man unconscious with a single blow. Not to mention the seemingly supernatural skills with his prayer beads, which he already uses as a sort of ‘weapon’ in court. Also that... thing he did to Apollo's bracelet that one time.
Nahyuta might be just straight-up Magic, that's pretty OP.
Franziska von Karma: Look, Franziska might not have official martial-arts, guns, or Literal Magic Powers - but what she does have is sheer determination and force or personality. Franziska von Karma has been intimidating grown men since she was a 149 cm tall 13 years old with a riding crop (I mean, one of those men was Miles, but still…..). She had once whipped Phoenix Wright into unconsciousness in a temper tantrum, and like I already mentioned that taking him down is quite a feat. She is also very resilient - while the shot to her shoulders was designed not to kill her, being up back on her feet doing investigation stuff a day after is still very impressive! Her whip might not be as dangerous as a sword or a gun, but she will not relent until she defeats you.
Simon Blackquill: Let me just give it to you straight, Simon Blackquill is 1.88 meter tall, he owns a katana and a trained attack-hawk (giving him both short range and far range advantage), he can break solid metal chains with his bare hands, he can cut your hair halfway across the room with a feather. Not to mention how he could probably use the whole psychological manipulation in battle to intimidate or goad his enemy. There’s not even a lot of funny or interesting points to bring up, he is literally an action movie character who just happens to also be a lawyer.
Athena Cykes: Athena Cykes is the strongest lawyer. One day, she’ll be stronger than whales. I believe in her.

Shy! Reader x Hercules
Plot: Hercules getting his shy nymph to come out of her shell.
A/N: the idea came to me after watching a show.
Warnings: no minors 🔞, 18+, talks of sex, sexual frustration.

Nymphs.
Nymphs were young, spiritedly women that resided in forests, rivers, mountains, and were said to be beautiful. Of course, each nymph had her own personality just like anyone else.
(Name) was no different.
A shy nymph who by definition was the opposite of what she was defined by from others; uncomfortable, self-conscious, nervous, bashful, timid, or insecure opposite of nymphs.
Especially, that of her sisters.
Speaking of which.
“Im so sick of her!”
The oldest of her sisters came to complain about the youngest sister (Name), as another suitor left in tears by (Name) rejecting him. The eldest counted that as the tenth suitor scorned…
She believed his name was Adamas or something.
“Poseidon and Hades and even…Buddha of all people want to be her lover and she just rejects them all?! What does she have that I don’t?!”
“She doesn’t yell for one thing.”
The middle sister spoke in a cool voice while reading a magazine featuring Aphrodite, beauty tips of course. As (Name) walked to her room, by passing her sisters they wondered who and when (Name) would start dating.
Truth was, (Name) had feelings for someone…
She was just shy.
It didn’t matter how many suitors came for her she wanted one person, and that was the envoy of Justice that saved her life.
A hero among gods.
In her alone time she would daydream about him, and sometimes she would wonder if she would see him again. Missing those beautiful blue eyes, his strong arms that protected her from harm, his bright orange hair and of course his big and bright smile.
Sighing to herself in her room she wished she could see him again.
“Oh come on, (Name) be my date.”
“No, Ares.”
The next day, Ares arrived on her doorstep asking again for a date. (Name)’s sisters were gossiping among themselves as the eldest was simply watching the situation unfold while the middle sister had a crush on the god of war.
The two were walking out towards the gardens and the two simply had banter back and forth of “One date” and “I’m not free that day.” And “You said that last time.” And “I’m also not free that day either.”
Ares was a bold person while (Name) was a shy and a little nervous around the tall and well toned god that could bench press a house with ease. Good thing he was easy to talk to and he wasn’t easily angered.
Unless, you’re Apollo.
“Well, at least come to the party. Everyone is going to be there. Apollo, Shiva, Buddha, Hercules. Everyone.”
Feeling her heart skip a beat when she heard Ares say Hercules, she then wanted to go to the party. Thinking to herself how great it would be to see Hercules again.
“Okay, I’ll go-“
“Okay, I’ll pick you up!”
Ares smiled as he was happy to get his crush to go to the party, her sisters watched in the bushes and were happy as there sister would finally meet someone.
(Name) did meet someone; she met him once more.
At the party, Hercules was the same as ever. Friendly and polite to everyone he talked to. Even when Ares introduced the two Hercules was the same and (Name) was shy in meeting the demi-god again.
Well, at least the two were joined at the hip the whole time.
Ares was none the wiser for it.
Maybe a little.

“Im so sick of her!”
The suitors never stopped coming for (Name)’s hand and her sisters jealousy never seemed to subside.
“At least she’s not here all the time.”
That was true, (Name) wasn’t home as much. (Name) wasn’t home now, she had been gone all day and had returned awfully late. Like any sister, the three older sisters crowded around (Name) while asking to what seemed like a million questions.
“Could you guys leave? I was just with a friend.”
Nervous in her response while holding something close to her chest, like any sibling the sisters tried their best to see what their younger sister was hiding and what friend she had been out all day with. Once she finally got her sisters out of her room she sighed in relief and placed the gift Hercules gave her on her bed.
The two had exchanged gifts earlier that day, Hercules gifted (Name) with a simple yet thoughtful gift of a rather small doll of himself. It was rather cute and Hercules like. “To keep you company at night.” Is what Hercules told her, a thoughtful and kind gesture.
With time, the two became close.
Hercules could handle her shyness with kindness, (Name) could handle Hercules boldness with her gentleness. The introvert and the extrovert. The visits became longer and longer making her sisters jealousy turn to worry. Thinking to themselves “she too in love.”
If she wasn’t at home she was on the phone.
Talking with someone.

“Prove it.”
“… excuse me?”
“Come over here and prove it. Or I could come over there.”
“My sisters would hear..”
(Name) was still shy around Hercules even if the two talked over the phone, he was the man she had feelings and affection for and yet while still shy she couldn’t deny that she made her hot sometimes.
Most times.
“No, see I’m pretty quiet.”
“…You’re funny.”
“I know I am-I am quiet.”
“They would definitely hear your foot steps.”
Smiling (Name) poked a little fun at Hercules who was playfully hurt, knowing (Name) had a point. Hercules wasn’t quiet when he walked, man was massive. A fucking unit.
“Fine, I’ll stay here then.”
“…but if you were here what would you do?”
Shy when asking (Name) could hear heart beat in her chest, as she awaited his answer wondering quickly if he would tell her something clever or sly. (Name) hoped for the sly and when she heard the chuckle heart and her clit jumped in excitement.
“What do you think I would do?”
Ah, teasing.
Clearing her throat and gathering her thoughts as this was a first for her, never did she think she would be flirting with the envoy of justice.
“I..I asked you first.”
Smiling in triumphantly as though she had victory in her hands, only for the envoy of justice to flip the script on her.
“Well first I’d pull you close to me. Then I would kiss your forehead, softly of course. Then I would kiss both sides of your neck. Because I know you would like that.”
“My neck..you would kiss my neck”
Shyly responding to the man of her dreams while placing her hand on the side of her neck, imagining Hercules softly kissing her neck as her heart beat increased as well the excitement between her legs.
“Yes, then I’d take off all your clothes. Just so I could see all of you. Then I would please you in all the right places. I’m in a giving mood you know.”
Hercules was no fool, he could hear the her panting a little over the phone, getting his shy nymph horny was working perfectly and he was in a giving mood that night.
“Then…then what?”
“Then…I would kiss your chest and then I would kiss your stomach, slowly. And then when i was ready I would kiss your clit.”
Hot and bothered.
Both parties seemed to be enjoying their first phone sex encounter.
“And then once you are begging and only when you were begging would give what you want. And I would do it slowly. Build up is important.”
Build up was important.
(Name) could feel her heart beating fast with the excitement between her legs growing more as she began to touch her chest holding the phone for dear life, imagining what Hercules tongue must feel like.
Shy or not, she wanted the fiery righteous god.
A dirty thought crossed her mind as she thought of Hercules’ cock, how big it was, was it curved or not, skinny or fat. The nymph side was coming out for sure.
“And then..”
“And then what?”
Smiling, Hercules knew several things, he knew he had her in the palms of his hand, that she wasn’t ready for that yet, and he liked how things were going.
“…well, I guess the only to get your answer is to come see me.”
End call.
Yes, the shy nymph had experienced her first phone sex experience as well as her first experience of being sexually frustrated as she sighed in frustration while laying on her back on her bed wanting Hercules like never before.

"You Know Where to Find Me"-Luke Castellan
words: 1810
warnings: fluff in the beginning, A LOT of angst at the end, lowkey I imagined the 2nd part in the rain but I didn't write it in the rain sadly lol
a/n I'm trying to write more so hopefully this is good, there will be a part two, and also I didn't mention it but reader is most likely a Hades kid (and will be in part 2) just for plot purposes, also I plan to make one for a lot of character I write for cause I love this idea so much hehe
summary: Luke's been distant since Percy came back, but he asks you to met him in the woods, and something you never thought would happen comes true

The word inseparable didn't do enough justice when it came to your relationship. You and Luke wouldn't leave each other's side no matter what. If either of you had a quest the other always went with. When someone looked for Luke at camp it was no surprise when you were there too. Every activity led by one of you was co-led by the other. Nothing could tear the two of you apart, no matter how hard they tried.
Luke being the popular counselor he was, many girls constantly flirted with him, before and during your relationship. Occasionally the ambitious Aphrodite girl would try her best efforts to break the two of you up. One girl even went as far as trying to spread rumors you were cheating on him, but were quickly shut down when you confronted her. It was safe to say Luke didn't want anyone else, only you.
Luke loved you and everything about you. He'd give up the world for you, would fight any monster just for you. But somehow something did seem more important to him.
"How are you my darling?," a familiar voice said, as an arm wrapped around your shoulders. Luke was nothing if not very affectionate, and loved to show you were his.
You couldn't help but smile at his affections, "I'm good," you murmured, still a bit drowsy from waking up.
He gave a small noise of acknowledgement, "Don't forget we have sword fighting lessons today," he teased, since he started to remind you what activities you had to lead.
You rolled your eyes, "I forget one time that I was supposed to lead an activity and you never forget."
"Oh, it was way more than one time," he said, starting to count on his fingers, "You missed swimming from oversleeping, stable duties last week, arts and crafts multiple times-"
"That was on purpose," you remarked, "I hate glitter and the Apollo and Aphrodite kids always use it."
"Still not an excuse, especially since I had to take over and had glitter in my hair for weeks. Now let's see you also skipped out on-" Luke voiced, but was once again cut off by you.
"Alright just tell me you don't love me," you joked, putting your hands up.
Luke pulled you closer, placing a small kiss on the top of your head, "Never," he whispered to you. A chorus of shouts and disgusted noises came from the Hermes table where Luke's siblings sat.
"Get a room.
"Ewwww."
And the ever classic, "Gross," followed by a strawberry being thrown at you. The Stolls were something else in your opinion.
"You're just jealous," Luke defended, sitting down at his table while you followed after. Technically you were supposed to sit at your parent's table, but after so long Chiron and Mr. D stopped caring, and if your parents actually cared so much, then maybe they should be a better parent.
Chris shook his head, "I don't know what's worse, the pining, or the actual relationship," which was followed by a chorus of, "the pining," since everyone collectively agreed they'd rather willing let the Ares kids test out a new weapon on them, then have to deal with Luke's pining again.
"Come on, I wasn't that bad," Luke defended once again, but even he knew he was down bad when it came to his pining over you.
"Not that bad," voiced Connor Stoll, in a rather high pitched voice.
Connor's statement was then followed by a very animated Travis, "You stared for weeks, which was only barely less creepy than finding out every book she read and everything she liked, just so you could talk to her about it."
"Remember when you made me give you $40 just so you could buy those stupid Star Wars comics just to impress her. You don't even like Star Wars," Chris mentioned, practically yelling at this point.
You turned your head around to face Luke so quickly you could've gotten whiplash, "Are they saying you never liked Star Wars?" you asked in astonishment.
Luke put up his hands in mock defense, "In my defense I did not care for it when I first met you, but now I love it I swear."
"Mhmm sure," you said, crossing your arms.
"I swear," he pleaded, "I'll watch all the films with you if you forgive me," he offered, even though he would watch anything you wanted, or do anything for you.
Satisfied you turned back to face him, "Okay," you said, planting a small kiss on his lips. Which consequently enacted another chorus of, "Eww," and, "Get a room."
"Why's everyone yelling this early in the morning?" a disgruntled voice questioned.
You jumped up at the voice, running over to him, "Percy," you shouted. He'd been resting so much from his quest that you hadn't seen him in awhile.
"Hey," was all he could manage, still not fully recovered yet.
You ruffled his hair, "I guess I'll see you around more now that you're back."
He nodded, "I guess so," he murmured before walking towards his table. Percy seemed a bit off, but then again he had just returned from a rather eventful quest.
Luke stood up from the table, grabbing your hand, "We should go before we're late," he said, referring to the lesson you were teaching in a few minutes.
"Alright," you said, waving bye to everyone, "See you later."
Luke had been off the past couple of days. He seemed quieter, even around you which was odd. He snuck out at night more often, leaving you in an empty bunk. He said he would wake up early and go on a walk to clear his head, so you didn't think anything of it. What was weird though was how he came back late at night sometimes, but he just said it was to make sure the camp was safe after the truth was revealed about Zeus' lightning bolt being stolen.
You and Luke hadn't been alone in awhile, but tonight broke that. Luke left you a note saying to meet up with him tonight in the forest a little after the fireworks started, since it was the 4th of July. Luke liked to surprise you on summer nights like this, but to you something felt odd. You did your best to brush it off though.
You dressed normal, but tried to put in some effort, and even wore a little more makeup. Now you were walking through the dark woods in hopes of finding Luke. He was most likely at the little clearing you always met up at, so you went there.
To no surprise he was standing there leaning against a tree. The only difference was that he seemed more sullen than usual and he had his sword with him.
"Luke?" you said, unsure of what was happening.
His head shot up, his eyes a bit glossy in the moonlight, "Hey."
"You said you wanted to see me here, what do you have planned?" you asked, since he usually had something planned for the night, but everything felt different for some reason.
Luke took in a deep breath before speaking, "I just, I need you to trust me. Do you trust me?"
Rightfully you were confused, but he still answered, "Of course, why wouldn't I."
He nodded, "Good," he reassured, "I want you to come with me," he said, not elaborating.
"Come with you? What do you mean? Where do you want to go?" you questioned, getting more and more nervous each second, "Luke what's wrong? What's happening."
Luke finally looked up at you, merely an inch apart from you, "I can't stand it anymore. The gods don't care about us anymore, our own parents could care less about us. We're overlooked and underappreciated, they don't care about us unless they need us. I'm tired of it. I want to make it right, I want justice for all of us demigods. The gods don't deserve to rule when they can't even be bothered to protect their own kids," he said, as the realization fell upon you heavily.
He was the one who betrayed camp. He stole the lightning bolt and blamed Percy. He was the one leaving to lead the revolution.
Even though you knew what was happening you didn't want to accept it, "No, no, please Luke," you pleaded silently, "Why you?"
Luke shook his head, "We deserve better. You deserve better," he argued, holding your face in his hands.
"But is betraying your friends, your family, really the way to go about this?" you said, taking a step back from him.
Something in Luke's expression changed, and he seemed to only look more sullen, "You're not coming with me are you?" he said, more of a statement than a question, as his eyes met the ground.
He wiped a tear rolling down his cheek, looking up at you again, "I could give you anything. We could live free together. I could keep you safe and you'd never have to deal with the gods again."
You shook your head, your eyes welling up with tears, "No, no you can't. No matter what, if I stay here or go with you, I'm still stuck in this war, but at least if I stay I have my friends with me. And my morals," you said, a few tears falling.
"Am I not important to you? Is what I believe not important to you?" he asked, his voice rising a bit, even though he didn't mean for it to.
"You are important to me, but for the first time I can't follow you," the words felt bitter in your mouth, but it was the truth, "I can't leave all my friends and family behind. I know what the gods do is wrong, but I can't follow after you, please understand."
Luke took a step closer, "Then please understand me. Please just follow me, come with me. I don't want to do this without you. Please-"
You cut him off, sticking your hand out to push him back, "You know me better than anyone, you should've known I wouldn't come with you, if you don't want to do this without me, then you shouldn't have done it at all. I can't come with you. I won't come with you," you said, tears overflowing in your eyes, "Goodbye, Luke."
Luke stood there watching as you walked away. You wanted to leave him like that, to have the last word, and not say anything else, but after all these years you couldn't leave him like that. Something in your heart made you take pity.
You turned around, Luke's head shot up, hopeful you changed your mind, but he knew you hadn't, "If you ever change your mind," you said, your voice wavering a bit, "You know where to find me."

i know the writing was. Bad. but people not liking nahyuta for being too unnecessarily mean to apollo.....genuinely don't get it. he was directly under the thumb of a dictator who was blackmailing him, for one thing. for another, ga'ran didn't know a single damn thing about apollo to the point where she literally asked phoenix if he was his little brother and the SECOND she found out (because phoenix ran his mouth) that apollo was dhurke's son, she sent the guards to try and capture him. the SECOND!!!! and then when they couldn't catch him, she started trying to exploit apollo & nahyuta's relationship for her own gain in the trial the instant she was in a position to do so ("Heh heh heh. Now, watch as the hammer of justice comes down upon your dear brother. [...]"/"[...] In short, should I be convicted of murdering my husband... ...your dear brother, who delivered false testimony in my defense... ...shall also be found guilty!"). and when you look at it from that angle, it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to believe that she would've kept tabs on nahyuta in some way or another while he was in the states and because of that, nahyuta was being overly mean in order to keep apollo at a distance (in other words, safe). why would apollo want to reconnect with the brother who constantly insulted him, tried his damnedest to get his friend convicted of murder and spent the trial against his coworker attempting to shame and ridicule her? who would even guess that nahyuta and apollo had any sort of connection? especially since apollo isn't the type of person to keep pushing at it. he questioned nahyuta, nahyuta told him that they were strangers and apollo was like "alright fine fuck you too i guess" and seemed like he fully intended to move on until dhurke crashed back into his life. like i get it is what i'm saying
#like it just seems obvious to me.......but maybe that's just me. idk#ga'ran's actions speak for themselves. IMMEDIATELY tried to capture apollo the fucking SECOND!!! SHE FOUND OUT ABOUT HIM!!!!#she was already using rayfa against nahyuta and there is no doubt she would've tried to use apollo too#and hell since apollo doesn't actually have any royal connections she can exploit she might've just killed him#to make an example out of him to nahyuta. like a 'this is what's going to happen to rayfa if you don't keep following orders' thing#nahyuta sahdmadhi

what are your thoughts on the japanese version of spirit of justice not depicting nahyuta and apollo as brothers?
oh boy.
well first off as a disclaimer i haven't looked too deeply into aa6 in japanese as a whole (though i have seen scenes here and there in japanese) so my thoughts are based less on like... actual original text and translations and more on the uh discourse surrounding it
i want to start off by saying i feel like it's a stretch to say the japanese version "didn't depict" nahyuta and apollo as brothers and that the english version unequivocally "did depict" them as brothers because the way i view it neither of those are true but it also... doesn't... matter?? in both versions the fact that dhurke raised the two of them remains unchanged and while i have noticed that the english version of dhurke's dialogue is a lot more explicitly fatherly, i wouldn't say that the things he says to apollo in japanese is unlike a father either - one of the scenes i Have watched is the cave scene where dhurke refers to himself as "daddy" but the japanese text is. essentially exactly the same and is what a father would say to their child with or without the explicit language.

Dhurke: When you act like this, it's like seeing you from way back then again. Apollo: D-don't treat me like a kid! Dhurke: There, there! Alright! I'll buy you whatever you want once we get out of here!

i feel like apollo's feelings on the matter are more nuanced even in the english version; his profile for dhurke calls him "the man who raised me" but he still introduces him as his father to ema. it's clear that he has complicated feelings towards dhurke but i feel like it's also clear that dhurke is the closest thing to a father he's ever had, he even very clearly says he doesn't feel much about jove because he never knew him. also, apollo's profile for dhurke in japanese is actually more explicitly familial, with him calling dhurke 育ての親 (foster parent) which is also how he introduces him to ema!

Apollo: Erm... I guess he's my foster parent.
after trucy says dhurke is also nahyuta's father, ema says in japanese "that means he's prosecutor sadhmadhi's and your..." and while she doesn't finish her sentence it's obvious she was going to say father...

ok i know that was a lot about dhurke but i don't feel like i can talk about their bond as brothers without mentioning him somehow. anyway i think partially the reason apollo's more open to describing dhurke as familial than nahyuta is mostly just because dhurke obviously reached out to him first and treated him like he always had which is the exact opposite of what nahyuta did...? even in the english version neither of them actually calls the other their brother but imo while i would have liked the confirmation i also don't really think it would have changed anything... it just feels like an awful lot of arguing over semantics when i think the fact that they grew up together, that they both see dhurke as a father, and that they wanted to stay together after the events of aa6 are enough to show their familial bond and those aren't events that have version differences...
i don't know. a lot of this is coloured by my own biases obviously but i also feel that it just suits them better that the japanese never leaned too hard into the brothers language because by necessity of the language it would require apollo to call nahyuta by some kind of "big brother" title which just does not suit him at all LOL it's part of why i like to think that the difference between their ages is more like a few months rather than a full year or more. and besides ga'ran does call nahyuta apollo's 兄 (older brother) during the court sequence which is also carried over in english and YES i have seen the post saying ga'ran using this term to describe them is meant to be shocking but honestly i just don't buy it. i've watched several japanese livestreamers play this part on youtube and read out the lines and they don't react to it at All like it all just flows very naturally imo?? like yeah of course she would say that

erm but yeah my thoughts. i think (perhaps incorrectly) that the insistence that the japanese version explicitly denied their brothers relationship is overblown out of proportion. i also think (correctly) that the language used does not matter and whatever happened on screen for english players to interpret nahyuta and apollo as brothers also happened in the japanese version, i think interpretations just vary depending on the person regardless of version language. either way it's not going to stop me from depicting them that way since i believe their sibling bond is what led to them having very strong feelings towards their actual sisters (even despite not knowing the fact, in apollo's case). it just makes more sense to me that way
#answered#ace attorney#i hope that um. answers your question#essentially IDGAF !!! I KNOW WHAT I SAW IN THE GAME#had a feeling i'd be asked about this one day but in the end it's snzz up to interpretation...#it just feels very willfully ignorant to me to deny their sibling bond just because they don't use brotherly language with each other

Autistic Anime Boys Prelims - Propaganda Division - Group 6

Propaganda:
Kiriwo -
"Seems innocent at first and he's just a guy with a special interest in magic items, but watch out."
Arjuna -
"MASKING KING!!!!!! ok joke aside one of his biggest things is that he's super scared that if anyone gets too close to him they'll notice he's not perfect/has a 'secret darkness' (that's literally just a guy) and overall a lot of his storyline is a strong parallel for being neurodivergent and becoming more comfortable with accepting it. he's also super strict and hard on himself for any sort of failure that isn't in line with what's socially appropriate but at the same time he doesn't always have a good grasp on what that is which is how you get stuff like him blowing up a forest to try and impress someone. it also runs in his family bc his brother is autistic as hell too."
Sherlock -
"God, where do I start? I mean what Holmes adaptation, even if he's not the main character, would this be if he were not autistic coded? And our combo of autism and ADHD is absolute perfection, all tied up with a pretty, excitable face. Hit him with the crime hyperfixation and do not make him wear socks."
Apollo -
"Not canonically autistic but he has ZERO volume control plus he scripts/repeats stuff (“I’M FINE!!!”), sometimes mimics other people’s speech patterns (like replying “ja” to Klavier), sensitive to loud noises (stayed backstage at a concert cuz it was too loud) and bright lights (complained about the stage lights being too bright at the same concert + screamed when opening the hatch to the bright stage at magic show), and has been really into space since he was a kid, which could definitely be a hyperfixation (not to mention how he read every single one of Phoenix’s old case files back when he admired him). Plus he’s a little TOO normal, to the point where it circles back around to making him the odd one out, which is absolutely what masking feels like for me. Even when he tries to be fun and weird he gets strange looks/made fun of for not being weird in the right way. The list of autism symptoms is just a checklist for him at this point."
Heiji -
"90% of the cast in detective conan is autistic but heiji is the most autistic of them all."
Urara -
"Another alien who is so excited to dance with everyone that he does not understand that his intended purpose of inviting people to dance via water communication is brainwashing them into dancing and is causing extreme chaos. He nearly causes an apocalypse by being so excited about dancing but he apologizes and tries to make friends with Yuki at the end of the story. He is extremely soft spoken and try, finding it difficult to begin conversations and fidgeting."
Shu -
"speaking specifically about the first season but he was the "explains everything so the audience knows whats happening" guy. he was pretty antisocial (not sure if thats just how he was or if he lived alone [which was fucked up cause he was 11]) . im trying to think of more but my brain goes hghghhhggggh im just a big fan of him."
Vash -
"ain’t no way i’m the only one who’s submitted him. go look at the gif of him crawling in the dirt like a bug while he dodges bullets and get back to me."
Hyakkimaru -
"Due to a terrible curse he has lived his whole life without several body parts including his eyes and ears. Because of this he is often overstimulated and awkward in new situations (when he doesn't do what he does best, killing monsters and samurai with his sword arms) He can't say or express much, and often comes off as strange and creepy, but he is actually a cutie patootie full of emotions, has a big heart, a keen brain, endless inner strength and loves the people close to him! This adorable, cursed, demon slaying boy deserves everything!"
Kei -
"He has the tbh face. Also he canonically has sensory issues and gets sensory overload. He constantly wears earbuds. He has an extremely rigid sense of morality and considers himself a savior figure. He has a hard time relating to other people and is a bit awkward in his interactions."

Here is my (objectively correct, of course/half-joke) ranking of the gods who are the first 20 CHB cabins by least to most likely to have a kid with someone of the same gender they're percieved as.
20: Hera—would not have demigod kids because she's loyal to Zeus even if he's not loyal back. 19: Artemis—if she had a kid it *would* be with a woman, but she's not having a kid because she's content with staying with her huntresses and usually appears pre-pubescent. 18: Hephaestus—I dunno, I just don't really feel like he has too many kids with men. Ironic, given that his domain is more male dominated, and certainly was only men for a while, and from what we see, the gods are attracted to people who do things under their domains, but he seems far more the type to have a child with the woman who snuck behind her parent's back to forge or even just a woman who tends to the fire than a male blacksmith. Has happened though. 17: Demeter—Also more vibes that she has a preference for men. Usual type is male farmers and botnists but there's definitely been a woman or two who she fell for. 16:Tyche—men are statistically more likely to develop a gambling addiction. Therefore, Tyche is statistically more likely to be with a man. Simple math. 15: Hades—He likes people that remind him of Persephone, send quote. Usually attracted to femininity which is, well, usually in women, but he'd be with a man too. 14: Nike—Nike has kids with men because they're more likely to challenge her, and she likes to kick ass. 13: Hebe—Like 70/30 preference for men, but like, at least someone in her cabin has a second mom. 12: Hermes—Similar as Hebe, but with a preference towards woman. That being said, half of the woman he dated in the olden days disguised themselves as men. So, maybe he should be higher, but all the gods are queer. 11: Hypnos—sleeps pretty universal, not gonna lie, has more kids with woman just because, no real reason. 10: Poseidon—in one version of the myth, Anteros the god of requited love was said to have been born from Poseidon's love with Nerites, which is pretty queer. Poseidon's pretty 50/50, if you're pretty and like him back, he'll have a kid with you. 9: Zeus—Really shows how fluid sexuality is when the god who kidnapped a pretty boy isn't in the top 5, but Zeus likes anything that walks, he has zero preference at all. 8: Athena—Like Zeus, has no preference, but mainly because she doesn't like people romantically. If you're smart; cool, here's a kid. And she's *not* all booksmart, she's more looking for your wisdom, so even before most places legalized woman's education, she'd still be giving kids to woman. 7:Ares—many war stories have queer undertones, especially in places where woman couldn't join the military. Ares likes really masculine people and really feminine people, and no in between. 6: Nemesis— Nemesis likes justice! She honestly doesn't give a damn your gender. 5: Aphrodite—Love is love, baby. Have a good heart, Aphrodite loves you and will have a kid with you. 4: Iris—is it stereotypical to have the goddess of the rainbow so high? Maybe. But, she gives off the vibes of vegan lesbians (in a good way) in the series, so it's not just the rainbows. Though, I think she started getting together more with woman when the rainbow association came around. 3: Dionysus— Dionysus likes non-binary people the best, and therefore all his relationships are queer, send message. 2: Hecate— witches are historically woman. That is all. 1: Apollo— I couldn't have the only one with a canonical kid with a same gender partner not be #1, could I?
Thank you for your time.

Hello hello my brain has been churning so it’s time for me to completely rewrite spirit of justice
So this is a writing exercise for me. I already rewrote dual destinies, but I think my ideas for a SoJ rewrite would be way more intensive. And that’s because, more than dual destinies, I think the overall story needs to be completely gutted, completely reworked from the ground up. And that is for one reason and one reason only:
I kind of hate the premise.
Like. On a fundamental level. I hate Khura’in conceptually and in practice. I think adding the death risk for every other case and the country ending stakes just sort of serves to cheapen the core of ace attorney (and that’s not touching on the xenophobia just sort of always prickling in the background). Like. This feels like power creep, in a series where that absolutely should not have power creep.
And yet. And yet and yet. There are so many things to love about spirit of justice. I am not a spirit of justice hater in my heart of hearts. I like most of the cases, I like many of the new characters. There are elements to the structure, the back and forth of the gameplay, the new fun gimmicks, even the nostalgia bait can be fun. And hey, overall, the baseline story, the betrayals and twists, those work. It’s literally just the setting.
So this leaves me with this fun thought: how do I rewrite Spirit of Justice and keep it intact while removing Khura’in as a concept. How do I gut the entirety of Spirit of Justice and still keep the spirit of it the same? The spirit of spirit of justice if you will.
So without further ado, let’s get started.
Part 1: The macro level
So for the big picture, there are two massive changes I want to make. But to start with the most obvious, I want to replace Khura’in. But this leads to an obvious issue.
Replace with what?
The secret illegal underground court of course!!
This was from an interview with the SoJ team, where they talk about some of their original concepts for the game. And one of the first ideas pitched was this idea of a secret underground court for criminals, where everyone involved wears masks to keep their identities hidden. They just casually drop the coolest idea and then go with a way worse one. It drives me bonkers.
This presents us with a massive amount of retrofitting. Some of the cases work fine with this new format, and some don’t. It brings us to a whole host of new questions: with a story like this, how do we keep the core of what made SoJ fun? How do we take the new characters, who are completely tied into what the setting is, and recreate them while keeping their stories and arcs in place? How do we keep the dual protagonists of Apollo and Phoenix? Is there a way to manage this without throwing Athena to the side?
This I think brings me to my other massive change. And to be fair, this one isn’t NECESSARY to fixing SoJ. In fact, it may break it even more. However, it fixes several completely different problems, and I think it’s worth looking at.
Put Spirit of Justice before Dual Destinies.
What??? you cry, shock wringing through you like a hand has clawed its way through the computer screen and grabbed onto your spine like a handrail. What are you talking about? How does that fix anything??
Well, my fine feathered friend (sorry, I’m imagining you as a friendly parakeet to drive away my natural inclination toward anxiety) let me describe my vision to you.
First, we fix a huge issue millions of likeminded players have come across: we needed another story between AJ and DD. The shift in protagonists was too fast. Apollo needed time to breathe, to grow, to settle in before turning the status quo onto its head again.
And we, uh, somewhat fix another issue. That issue being that Athena is maaaaaybe a bit extraneous in this game. And listen. I am an Athena fan first and a human second. This is fact. However…she really didn’t matter to SoJ at all. So why not use SoJ to do more work with the boys and let DD have its own Athena-centric sequel, instead of introducing her and then just immediately tossing her aside?
Third fix: I fucking hate the ending of SoJ and this makes it easier to either chuck that bitch. (Or if you really wanted you could have him gone from DD until the final case so that Athena got more time in the spotlight but that’s a completely new rewrite and I don’t have time for that.)
Again. Second change is not a hard rule, because it does create just as many problems as it fixes. It means we get rid of Athena, which hurts me. It requires a LOT of work to make it fit. However. This is more writing exercise than anything else. As I said in my DD fix, the main issues there are thematic and structural, and so that rewrite is a completely different beast than this one. Last time, the bones remained in tact and we just had to adjust the meat.
So. Those are my two macro level changes. Now let’s debone this bitch.
Part 2: Plot changes
Biggest issue: how do we keep a semblance of soj’s plot with these changes? It’s time for a plot outline.
How does the story start in the game? We have Phoenix Wright, tourist. He travels to a foreign country, gets a tour guide, and fucks around while he waits for Maya. While he waits, his child tour guide gets arrested, and suddenly he’s thrown into a completely foreign justice system, in more ways than one hyuk hyuk rimshot. Everything is different. New judge, new rules, new mechanics. Everyone is hostile to him, even his own client. But in the end he prevails, and saves the kiddo.
We then spend the next several cases jumping back and forth between The Boys ™ as we introduce our new prosecutor and start dropping hints of an overarching plot. Near the end, Phoenix and Apollo confront each other, and then they go and defend Apollo’s old foster father in the other courts, basically starting a revolution and collapsing the old system.
And then Apollo jumps ship but I wasn’t crazy about that so w/e we’ll fix it in post
So. This is the general outline. Honestly, without the specifics, it doesn’t look too bad, right? There’s intrigue, there’s betrayal, etc etc. But now we need to start from the beginning. What are we changing and what are we making work?
To start. Why are Apollo and Phoenix separated?
Because Phoenix doesn’t have a badge.
We’re leaving DD intact for this project. Even if we’re putting this together with my DD rewrite, Phoenix doesn’t get his badge until the orca. That is non negotiable. You fools. You rubes.
And then this, naturally prevents him from participating in the normal trials. The legal trials. The Apollo trials. And hey. Maybe this also makes Phoenix more appealing to an underground court. He’s separate from the courts now. He still is an outsider, even with his name cleared, but he’s still very knowledgeable and good at defense. He’d be perfect for something underground, something secret, legal matters that can’t be brought to a real lawyer.
So now we have that divide, the same way we do in the original game. What else do we need to work on?
Ah right. The royal family drama. But I mean come on. Why wouldn’t this sort of stuff work with gangsters? Yakuza? Mob bosses?
So we have a powerful family. Powerful and dangerous, running a society. And there are power grabs, even within families, even ones that tear families apart. A man marries a woman of standing within this family. He’s a lawyer, and a good one at that. He helps keep order in this society, because I mean there needs to be some order within the chaos. But then he’s cast out after the murder of his wife, his own children maligned for his actions because these are people who rule through fear.
Like. I’m so serious about this. It fits just as well with criminals as it does with a royal family.
And. Hear me out. Okay we’re going big brain crazy here.
Why the hell can’t they be a Fey branch family from several generations ago that broke off and had to become criminals to survive? Look me in the eye and tell me why we can’t keep that connection and have that as a fucking twist???
Powerful family. Criminals. But they’ve always had an edge up from other criminals in the business because all of their girl children have ESP. They can interview the dead. They can threaten the living. They bastardized the Fey clan’s abilities to see a person’s final moments. No knowledge is beyond their grasp, and therefore they’ve well established themselves in the criminal underbelly since the main branch rejected them several generations ago (for, yknow, an assassination attempt because that happens all the time for the Feys).
There. Boom. Suddenly we have the same plot but different setting. We have a way to fit it all in. Hell, we can even give Maya an honest to god reason to be here with this, which was very high priority for the SoJ team.
And this leads me to another change to make. Because, yes, the tragic truth is that this story likely means that Athena can’t be a part of it. This does fucking suck. I’ve been trying to think real hard of a way to work her in here, as like an intern, or using this to touch on how Athena and Phoenix met. And while I’m not saying it’s impossible, I feel like it brings us back to the issue of DD: namely, too many characters vying for attention, meaning no one can have a satisfying character arc. And that’s not fair to her, nor is it fair to the cast we have now. She needs space to breathe, and I don’t think this game is it.
…Maya, however…
Maya needs more screen time. She needs an arc. She needs character growth.
What if…we replace Maya as Apollo’s assistant?
What if Trucy gets to be an assistant to Apollo and Phoenix throughout?
What if cutting down on one character who doesn’t get the chance to have an arc lets us focus on the two who need it?
Because let’s face it. The 3D games do the girls dirty. Trucy is barely a presence, and we don’t ever get to see the quick witted girl who fakes her own kidnapping. Maya feels like she’s just there for nostalgia and all of her growth seems so surface level. Athena has a fun introduction and then immediately gets shafted the first chance the writers get. Rayfa…no okay Rayfa is perfect, but everyone else! We need arcs. We need more women!!!
So. We have our baseline for the major overarching plot changes. Now let’s get into characters.
Part 3: Characters
First of all, here is my handy dandy chart of SoJers.
This is just a quick glance. In this overview I probably will not touch on that last section in much detail, those are mostly just pipe dreams.
So let’s take a snapshot of some of our main cast of characters, starting with just some baseline changes to the Khura’in cast.
Dhurke - So we’re going to keep him as a defense attorney I think, even before he joined ‘the life’. That being said, I do think it’s important to keep him as morally in the right as possible. We could do a redemption arc of sorts, but there is no way we can have him as ‘defence attorney that gets the yakuza off the hook for serious crimes.’ So we have to strike at least some sort of balance here.
My idea is thus: He’s still a defense attorney, and he does take up the defense of the wrongfully accused. He believes in justice and goodness and truth. He falls in love with a woman named Amara with a mysterious past, and she pulls him into The Life to help defend someone from the gang’s internal justice system. He’s not directly a criminal, but he’s helping them solve problems peacefully instead of just a life of an eye for an eye. He becomes popular, and is helping some of the people get out and lead an honest life. His girlfriend/wife/whatever wants out of the life, and he wants to help reform this family.
And then Amara is ‘killed’ in a fire bombing or something, along with a musician they just happened to have over the night of the attack. Gar’an convinces everyone that he’s actually been planning to kill the family and take over, and/or that he never really loved Amara yadda yadda. Dhurke has to flee with his son, and also the random baby of the musician, and live in hiding for a while. When it starts getting too dangerous, he sends Apollo to foster care, though he worries that the family knows to look for Nahyuta and can’t offer him the same kind of protection that way.
Again. Does it fit perfectly? No. Especially Amara: I think it’d be hard to justify keeping her as the ‘true queen’ in this scenario if the play is that she wants out of The Life. But on the flip side, I feel like so often when we look at Fey family politics, so much of it is “younger/weaker sister jealous of other sister” and honestly what’s wrong with looking at other ways this dynamic is fucked up? More on that when we get to Gar’an.
Rayfa - …Okay, yeah, I want to keep Rayfa as intact as possible. She’s very fun. She’s been raised in the lap of luxury, but also with immense pressure over her head to perform since she’s a psychic and this family needs to hold onto power very tightly if they hope to survive in the criminal underworld. She’s spoiled and headstrong, and she thinks she’s basically an adult because she’s been given adult responsibilities, even though she is just a naive little kid who’s barely even begun learning about the world. She pretends to know everything and has a nanny who has to whisper things into her ear so no one notices she doesn’t know everything.
This character concept still works so fucking great. We can even keep her doofy little dance. Her gimmick is very fun, and I would hate to have to delete it.
Nahyuta - Yeah okay Nahyuta needs the most work. However, the real Nahyuta also needs the most work. I wouldn’t call myself a Nahyuta fan. I kind of fucking hate him sometimes? Not all the time but. Like. He’s nothing. He’s so nothing. Maybe it’s because I’m not a fan of religious characters, and that’s kind of his only character trait? Like the moments I enjoy of him are the moments where he’s like “anyway and then I went to this fascinating restaurant called ‘burger time burgers’ and ordered a ‘burger’ and then I memorized the wikipedia page for knock knock jokes” and it’s like wait okay that part is fucking funny. But way more often than not, it’s this like “My religion tells me you're going to hell and also I’m better than you” and I get enough of that in real life thank you very much.
See like. Every prosecutor needs to start off as someone to hate. I think I hated every prosecutor to start with, because they were frustrating and condescending. But every one of those characters gets development before the final case. It’s about peeking behind the curtain and seeing a heart of gold, or someone struggling to overcome their own flaws. The mean shithead who is afraid of connection, the person struggling with grief and lashing out, the powerless martyr.
That last one is what Nahyuta is supposed to be, but we do not get enough peaks behind the curtain for me to feel any sympathy. And also, unlike Simon Blackquill, he doesn’t come off as a prickly jerk who is hiding that he cares. He comes off as a fucking self aggrandizing asshole who uses his religion to browbeat the people around him up until like hour 40. We don’t see cracks, we don’t see him struggling with that. He’s actively calling for our deaths and telling us that hell is real.
But religion is the lens that we see everything through for Nahyuta. If we’re getting rid of Khura’in, we’re probably getting rid of Khura’inism too. Does that leave us with anything if we’re yeeting his main gimmick?
So. What are we replacing Nahyuta with? Again, I want to keep the spirit of this game. I want to keep the core. Nahyuta as Apollo’s stepbrother is a good plot point. Nahyuta as a martyr too, who’s willing to sacrifice anyone or anything for his family. Like. That part is interesting! It’s the inverse of Blackquill: This girl is in danger, so instead of sacrificing myself, I’ll sacrifice the whole world and everything I believe in.
My thoughts are this: I want to keep him incredibly pretty and gentle and calm, and juxtapose that with him being a huge part of a crime syndicate in secret. He’s not a monk anymore, but he’s still dressed in white, with long white hair and a calm smile. I think we need more focus on the contradictions than anything else. He’s calm and serene, and he’s working for the mob, and he’s threatening, but not in an in your face way, because he’s way too pretty for that. He’s a know-it-all and condescending, but we get glimpses past the curtain to see he’s working WAY too hard to keep that up by spending all night researching rakugo and burger restaurants. I think it’d be fun for him to be very formal and polite and occasionally slip into like more aggressive speech when he gets cornered.
Also. Uh. Yeah, he’s still a prosecutor. Like legally. And he wears a mask in the underground court, which was part of the original idea for an underground court. Does this make any sense? No. But it’s not that left field for Ace Attorney so fuck you I’m keeping it. He joined the prosecutor's office to try to infiltrate it for the mob. Yeah sure that’s why Miles is there and him taking down a crime syndicate gets his promotion in DD. W/e we’re keeping Miles.
Gar’an and Amara - I mean, I touched on her earlier, but Gar’an as the older sister repeating the sins of the past. They escaped from the life of the Fey family just to recreate it. Sisters being pit against each other. Still trying to decide if Amara is the more powerful sister, but either way, Gar’an as the older sister who can and will do anything to prevent the ‘weaker’ sibling from usurping her. Because even when the Fey family dynamic is running smoothly, even when no one is trying to take over control, there’s still a power dynamic forcing siblings to see each other as competition, to see one child as less important, as expendable.
So Gar’an as a tyrant. Even though she’s in control, she’s terrified of slipping. She manipulates and lies, and to no end, because her sister loves her, and she was never in danger in the first place.
Also. A few quick changes to Amara’s story. As I put forth earlier, Amara doesn’t want power. She wants freedom. She loves her sister, but also hates the life of a criminal her family leads.
But also, what the fuck is the waffling between whether or not she believes Dhurke is trying to kill her. No. Delete.
In SoJ it’s played completely straight that she went into hiding, and then ran away with Dhurke and got pregnant, and then went back into hiding and became re-convinced that Dhurke was a murderer. That’s stupid. Why did they do this? What are you talking about, girl? Like you could argue she was lying about falling for it again, and maybe I need to rewatch that section but it really didn’t feel like it.
So we tweak it. We tweak the stakes, and also, we tweak the motivations for both Amara and Nahyuta.
I think in normal SoJ it’s kiiiiiiind of clear why Nahyuta was doing what he was doing? But also not. Because what danger is Rayfa in? If he disobeys, then Gar’an will tell everyone that Dhurke is her real dad. Or. Something? And then everyone will hate her ass because the child is responsible for the sins of their father.
Which is. Stupid. That’s stupid. Hey? That’s stupid. That’s nothing.
Does that mean she’s going to be persecuted? No, because Nahyuta wasn’t. It literally just means she won’t be princess anymore and everyone will shun her. Which. Yeah. That sucks that she won’t be rich and powerful anymore, and that she’s suddenly going to be miserable, but Nahyuta has probably been responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents and letting people die so that your sister can be rich is Not It. Not proportional. Rayfa can survive suddenly being poor. It’ll suck. It’ll be awful. But she can survive.
Unless you make it VERY CLEAR that she’s actually in danger if this happens. Which is easy when you are a part of a crime syndicate.
So like. Now Nahyuta has an actual reason to let people die for his sister. And now we have a reason for Amara to go back into hiding for real. Because her sister gives up on just convincing her that her husband is evil and just goes mask off.
Is it perfect? No. But I want to keep Nahyuta and Rayfa as siblings, and this works way better than whatever the fuck was going on in that game.
Holy hell this is getting long, I’m so sorry guys, we still have a ways to go.
Phoenix - Less to talk about here. He’s Phoenix. He’s largely unchanged. Really I think the biggest thing to look at is his characterization, if we’re trying to bridge the gap between Beanix and Dual Destinies. He’s less sure of himself, especially being caught up in this weird underground court. He just cleared his name, but he hasn’t picked himself up off the ground yet. And suddenly he’s being dragged into a world of criminality and trying to protect the innocent even without a badge.
Again. It’s not a ton, but I think it’s more interesting than “Man from Japanifornia suddenly has to fix a foreign country.” That has some weird colonialist implications that I wasn’t fond of. Plus, now he can be cryptic some more trying to keep his daughter, friend, and protege out of whatever the hell he’s been dragged into.
Apollo - Also? Not much to talk about. In fact, I think Apollo’s story remains kind of identical? All the plot beats for him are the same. He still gets to work out his daddy issues. Good for him.
Maya - Heeeeeere we go. Now we're getting into something tasty. What do we do with Maya Fey?
So I kind of hated what we got with SoJ. Not so much in terms of personality, I wasn’t too put off by how she acted. It was just the idea that it was 9 years later and she still wasn’t ‘master’ material. What do you mean she had to study because she was still only getting a 60% success rate? What do you meannnnnn??
So yeah. Master of Kurain Maya. She’s matured a bunch and taken on a leadership role, but she’s still the same old Maya at the end of the day.
Honestly? Why not have the story of this branch family being ostracised and then recreating the same Fey dynamics affect her? Here she is, trying to manage the responsibility of a people, and here is a glimpse into what her family has been. Sisters controlling each other. Families broken apart by fear. What does that mean for her? She had this responsibility thrust upon her. She who wanted to run away by the end of AA3. She who is trying so hard not to let her and Pearly repeat the mistakes of their moms.
And here is all that backstabbing and hate, still happening because of the Fey family several generations ago. How do you contend with that? It’s not just you, it’s not just your mothers, it’s gone back generations.
Anyway. And then she and Rayfa become friends and Rayfa moves to Kurain. And Nahyuta too I guess? The And.
Trucy - Ohhhhhhhhh this is the hardest one. Because Trucy is so absent from this game but I want her to be a part of it so bad. What the fuck is she up to?
I think hers needs to be about family too. All of them need to be about family. This is a game about family. We need more about her figuring out her real family. Who’s important to her. What family even MEANS.
We have Maya trying to unpack her generational trauma, and so is Trucy. Case 2 is a great place to fit that in, and I wish they focused on that. And I think at the end of the game, Trucy has to convince Apollo to stay and also reconnect with his family from before. Because family can be a lot of things and Trucy needs to learn how to balance her new family ties and her old.
These are my starting points for her. Again, way less in the baseline to work with, but I think this is the basis of a compelling story. Because case 2 was my favorite in the game (I’m sorry Grace I’m so sorry Grace) but it also could’ve easily worked to hone in on that theme. Found family over a terrible family creed. It’s perfect.
OH FUCK I FORGOT EMA IM SO SORRY GIRL YOU SHOULD BE ON THAT CHART IM S
Ema - I’m so sorry I forgot you. I don’t think her being a forensic investigator yet makes sense timeline wise, but she is still the best choice for a detective. And hell, it’s not like detectives necessarily need a ton of development. God knows Gumshoe didn’t need some sort of wild arc to work in his role of recurring detective.
So yeah. Largely the same roll as the game for the normal trials, but she’s still miffed about not making forensics, and studying, and using cases for studying.
Maybe Phoenix can bring her in to do some forensics for him on the side during his section? After all, if he’s no longer dealing with a real court, it’s not like Ema being an official forensic investigator is going to matter.
Also. Like. I can’t believe they never touched on this in the game, but have her fucking call out Nahyuta on doing the same bullshit as Lana. Sacrificing his morals for the sake of saving his little sister, preventing them from having a real relationship in the process. Have her point that out!
I think her interactions with Nahyuta could go a long way in humanizing him. Because he’s condescending and a dick, but he cares about his family, and we need to SEE that. We need to FEEL that.
Part 4: the cases
Okay. This is going to need more restructuring than DD and so I’m not going to go through the entire game. In part because I think we’d need to create several new cases whole cloth and I’m not ready for that yet. So at the least I’m going to outline what we currently have, what I think works, and what doesn’t.
Current SoJ -
Case 1 - The worst tutorial in the series do not @ me, introducing us to the world of Khura’in, the new rules, new judge, and new gimmick. Establishing Phoenix’s reasons for being there, as well as Maya’s.
Case 2 - All case twos have a few things in common. They introduce us to investigations, to the full main cast, and they always have some personal stakes for a central character to pull them into the world. 1-2 Maya is accused. 2-2 Maya is accused. 3-2 Maya is robbed. 4-2 Trucy is robbed. DD breaks this habit, but I think bringing it back for 6-2 helped solidify it as memorable. While the Mr. Rheus stuff was a bit too retconny on the Gramarye stuff, I think the case itself is a solid intro to the world.
Case 3 - Reintroducing us to Maya, and giving us assistant Rayfa. Case where we learn the full stakes of the secondary setting. Maya is accused again, which is kind of annoying, but I think channeling a man who has incentive to lie was fascinating. Hard to translate since Maya has no reason to be a part of this setting, but we can work with it.
Case 4 - Rakugo. I know we usually have one case that is just to let the characters breathe, but truly this gave us nothing. I’m sorry. It’s a fun case! Even in base game it could be removed and not matter. Case three is usually where we start to see the facades of the prosecutor slip, or gain an important piece of information about them, but even if they did, Apollo and Phoenix aren’t here for it to matter to them.
Case 5 (Civil Court) - Conceptually interesting, but kind of annoying in execution. I adore Apollo and Dhurke adventures, and honestly, I kind of love Dhurke being dead the whole time. I think Maya being kidnapped again was a bit much, especially since the same thing happens again with DD. That being said, I don’t know what else would make Phoenix take what’s-his-face’s side without a LOT of rewriting. Also without the line of succession stuff this whole thing would need to be completely replaced with something new.
Case 5 (Khura’in) - Again, causing a coup in a foreign country feels wrong. But the family drama? Now that is juicy. This section I think can stay mostly intact. Even the part about breaking the queen’s hold on the people could be reworked as a tyrannical mob boss finally being dethroned.
I don’t have a ton of clear ideas what I want to do with the cases individually. I know replace the tutorial and the Athena case, but the rest still need to be refit with the new setting in mind. My brain has turned to mush though so that is a job for a future JJ perhaps.
Anyway. That’s kind of it. That’s all I got. I’m full of soup and my brain is full of empty. Tune in next time for my Athena Cykes sequel: Athena Cykes 2. And Knuckles.

Deity Work with Lugh
Idk about you guys but I feel like the Lugh tag has been dead for a little while. I feel like he’s a super underrated deity so I’m gonna give him the spotlight he deserves with a little post on the basics of deity work with him. Let’s gooooo!

(If anyone knows who the artist of this image is, please help me out and credit them!)
Lugh is the Irish god of Skill, Light, the Harvest, and Justice. He is best known as the deity associated with the pagan Harvest holiday of Lughnassadh, but he has so much more going on.
Legend
In Irish legend, Balor of the Evil Eye was the chief of the Famorians, a clan of ruthless sea demons who ruled oppressively. Balor was prophesied to be killed by his grandchild, so when his daughter gave birth to triplets, he tossed them all into the ocean to drown. Thankfully, one of those babies was rescued by Mannanán Mac Lir, god of the Sea. With the help of Taltiu, goddess of the Plains, Mannanán raised the boy as Lugh, whose name means ‘light.’
When Lugh grew up, he wanted to make a name for himself and join the Tuatha Dé Dannan, the pantheon of Irish gods who were at war with the Famorians. When Lugh requested entry into their fortress, he was asked what kind of skill or ability he could provide to make their clan stronger. When he told them he was great warrior, they said they already had the best warrior. When he told them he was a talented poet, they said they already had a poet. When he told them he was a healer, harpist, sorcerer, cook, blacksmith, and much more, the Tuatha Dé Dannann claimed they already had a person for each position. Lugh thought for a moment, and asked “But do you have a person who can do ALL of these things?” Admitting they did not, the Tuatha Dé Dannan allowed Lugh to join their clan. Eventually, he slew Balor, overthrew the Famorians, and was made King of the Tuatha Dé Dannan.
Lugh’s Worship
Let’s break down how Lugh was actually honored and worshipped back in the day. First and foremost he is a god of Skill and Craftsmanship. Just like in his story, Lugh was believed to have limitless talents, and was thought to favor those who dedicated their life to honing a craft.
There’s a common misconception about Lugh being a solar deity… as a god of Light, he’s associated with the Sun, certainly, but he’s equally associated with the lightning of a thunderstorm and the fire of the forge.
Lugh is also a god of Harvest and Agriculture. In another part of his myth, when Lugh was away at battle, his foster mother, Taltiu, reshaped the plains to be fit for agriculture when he returned to rule as King. The goddess worked so hard, she “died” of exhaustion and became one with the land. The harvest festival of Lughnassadh was believed to have been started by Lugh to honor his mother’s sacrifice, and to celebrate the reaping of summer grains.
Lugh was also worshipped as a god of Justice. Not only was he King of the Tuatha Dé Dannan, but he was also their Judge, passing just laws and fair punishments when needed. Lugh was so associated with justice and truth that he was often invoked in the swearing of oaths to ensure that they would be kept.
And of course, Lugh has been worshipped as a deity of Victory and Battle as the god who rallied the rest of the Tuatha Dé Dannan and strategized the battle plans that ended the Famorians’ rule once and for all. He was also the father of Cú Chulainn, the greatest warrior and hero of Irish mythology.
Though Lugh was originally an Irish god, his worship began to spread through the Celtic lands and eventually continental Europe. Over time he became associated with Hellenic deities such as Hermes and Apollo. The Romans even worshipped him as Lugus, a triple deity with three faces. His best known epithets are ‘Master of All Skills,’ and ‘the Shining One.’
Correspondences of Lugh
Symbols of Lugh: Spear, corn dolls, wheat, lightning, forge, hammer, ravens, the Sun, gold.
Plants, herbs, and spices: wheat, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, calendula, sunflower, and ginger.
Incenses: Frankincense, sandalwood, and dragon’s blood.
Crystals and Stones: agate, aventurine, citrine, tiger’s eye.
Offerings: Bread, wheat, grains, berries, ale, works of skill or creativity, yellow or orange candles. I find Lugh also likes (I kid you not) Honey Bunches of Oats cereal, Irish whiskey, and peach or mango flavored green tea.
Working with Lugh
So if you want to work with Lugh (or any new deity) I would suggest reading up on his myths and looking up artwork depicting him (maybe even making some of your own). Then try making an altar or shrine for him using the list of correspondences above. Pray to him, try meditating on him and his myths, and then write down any messages or spiritual impressions you get during your meditation. Some areas you might ask Lugh for blessings or guidance in include:
Protecting yourself and others.
Keeping healthy boundaries.
Finding your inner strength, power, or latent talents.
Growing in your crafts and hobbies, and honing your skills.
Finding creativity and passion.
Career planning and success.
Success in your personal goals.
Learning and seeking knowledge.
Becoming more confident and assertive.
Overcoming obstacles.
Manifestation and living your dreams.
Seeking truth and justice.
Helping you commit to your promises, both to yourself and others.
Becoming more action oriented.
Overcoming your fears and finding courage.
Abundance and prosperity.
An Evocational Prayer for Lugh
Hail Lugh, god of Skill, Light, Justice, and the Harvest!
Oh Shining One, Long Armed Lugh,
You are lord of all that is bright, you are master of every skill and craft, of every art and ability.
Son of the Sea and the Plains, chief of the Tuatha Dé Dannan, I ask that you help me to rise, to rise as tall as the summer wheat, as strong as the greatest warrior.
Lord Lugh, I humbly ask for your aid and guidance in deep respect and reverence. I invite you to my altar and offer these gifts to you.
Mighty Lugh, hail and welcome!
Enjoy meeting Lugh, everyone!

The Real Bobby Fulbright and Morality
Hey hey! I am back with yet another analysis post, this time focusing on Fulbright's morality! I often see fanon interpretations of him - that are super fun! - but I also feel like they focus on the positive aspects of his personality and avoid the darker ones, so I will be rambling about that under the cut! Enjoy B)
Before we get into specific examples, it is worth pointing out that this analysis is based off of:
The theory that Dual Destinies didn't originally have the phantom as the main villain.
That the phantom was included later in the story after several chapters were already finished.
The theory that Dual Destinies was going to deal with darker themes before it got altered.
Now, although I have more detailed arguments on why I believe in these points, this post is not about that (Though if anyone wants to hear my thoughts about it, I'd love to yap about that in another post ^^). In a nutshell, Fulbright's behaviour changes in between cases, in a way that suggests that his character was revamped. I believe that Fulbright was originally written without the phantom in mind.
Thus! While his character might've had his purpose shifted, if my belief is correct, then The Monstrous Turnabout - the first case with Fulbright - is the most accurate glimpse into what the real Bobby Fulbright was like. Yes, we are meta analysing it up in this house!
Via the assumption that The Monstrous Turnabout has the original idea for the real Fulbright, we can make some interpretations of what he's like, despite the canon saying it was the phantom impersonating him! ^^
So, onto actual examples (lovingly chosen from my transcript) and analysis!
Starting off strong, we first meet Fulbright with him wanting to arrest Apollo and Athena. Yes, there is the potential reasoning of "disturbing a crime scene", but the lawyers had only just gotten there. They had done nothing wrong. That is unlawful arrest! Them coming to the crime scene had several explanations, and yet Fulbright won't even hear them out:
[???] “Hey, who are you and what are you doing here? This is a crime scene!”
[AJ] “And who are YOU? Are you with the police?”
[???] “I asked first! Who are YOU and what are you doing here?! On second thought... I’m placing you under arrest for disturbing a crime scene!”
He prioritizes lunch over actual, genuine justice here, not even bothering to hear them out. He only changes his tune after finding out that they're lawyers. Even then, he doesn't allow them to investigate. Though that is what all Ace Attorney detectives do, I think the subtle threat that comes afterwards is important.
[AJ] “Ack! Under arrest?! B-B-But...”
[???] “Save it for the boys back at HQ! Now, come quietly or else! I don’t want to be late for lunch!”
Yes, he never pulls out a gun in the series (besides attempting to do so in Turnabout for Tomorrow as the phantom), but I believe that the inherent threat and power that Fulbright holds in this situation is worth mentioning. Apollo's assumption that Fulbright could pull out a gun is also quite telling in my opinion. Fulbright is a cop at the end of the day.
[BF] “Cease and desist at once, or you’ll have to deal with my little friend here!” { Hand goes to his holster }
[AJ] “Ack!” (Yikes! Is he reaching for his...?!)
[BF] “In justice we trust!” { Shows badge }
[AJ] “...!” (Phew, it’s just his badge.)
[BF] “This door simply will not open! We’ve tried and tried, but it won’t budge! It’s an essential part of the culture found in this manor, so we can’t blow it up either!”
The next concerning aspect I've found, is the seemingly normalized use of excessive force. The only reason they're not blowing up the door is because of its cultural significance. That is insane! It can be argued that it's not Fulbright's decision, however, the lack of reaction from everyone involved signifies to me that this is the norm.
With this moment, I wish to point out Fulbright's black & white thinking. I acknowledge that this is consistent for all detectives in the series, but it is a piece of characterization that is very important - Fulbright is very quick to call Tenma a villain, evil, a fiend. Thinking that someone is guilty and thinking that someone is evil are quite different imo.
[AJ] “So you still think Mayor Tenma is responsible?”
[BF] “That’s right! Damian Tenma is an evil fiend who must be banished from this world! Now, take my hand and together we will defeat this evil!”
[BF] “I won’t fall for that, you shameless rascal! I only help good little boys and girls!”
In general, Fulbright tends to think in an us vs them mentality - the people he likes are good, while the ones he dislikes are bad. He helps good people and puts away bad people. In a sense, yes, that's what a cop is supposed to do.
[BF] “Ha ha! My investigations are as thorough as they are foolproof, or my name isn’t Fulbright! I vow to resign immediately if I ever make a false arrest!”
However, this line paints a grim picture. Fulbright implies that he has never made a false arrest. That is statistically impossible, and implies that he has not only made false arrests before, he has also managed to get them convicted! The fact that the first time we meet him, he tries to arrest us only amplifies this point!
[BF] “What?! Are you questioning my sense of justice?!”
When he is confronted with an argument against his beliefs, he hides behind justice. In a way, he hides behind his badge, the very item that allows him to make the decisions on who is being painted as guilty, and who is not. In fact, he doesn't even question his beliefs.
[BF] “Prosecutor Blackquill! We’ve had enough of your hijinks! The foundation of justice is fair play, and you are in serious violation of that!”
And finally, the so-called 'jolts of justice'. I've seen arguments in the past claiming that the real Bobby Fulbright would never use electrical shocks on Blackquill. I politely disagree. Considering all the previous examples, I think it aligns with his behavioural patterns and is the epitome of his morality.
And thus, I would like to briefly propose my personally crafted theory about Dual Destinies: The game was originally going to delve into darker themes, and Fulbright's corruption was at the center of that.
Yes, Fulbright believes in justice, in good and bad. He has good intentions. But at the end of the day, he is a cop that holds power over others and justifies his wrongdoings with... well, justice. So long as he believes that he is doing the right thing, he is willing to reach for extremes.
I think this is often missed due to Fulbright's comical mess ups and overall cheery and charming demeanour. The characters don't really react to his more... extreme decisions either.
Consider a world where the phantom was not the main twist of the series, but some aspects remained. Such as... The tampering with evidence... Abusing police position to cover up a crime... Framing innocent suspects... It fits into the previously showcased negative traits of his.
Ergo, the real Bobby Fulbright might not be as justice-driven as many may believe. There are many details that tend to get overlooked when it comes to him, especially in fanon. Which is fine and good! It is comforting to think of a policeman that does his job properly. However, I also find this darker side absolutely fascinating and worthy of discussion.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed this silly analysis post! Do feel free to argue or ask questions, I love a good debate and I love yapping <3
#river fisher#bobby fulbright#aa5#ace attorney dual destinies#the phantom ace attorney#aa5 spoilers#blub blubs#analysis post#<- adding that tag to my arsenal because i make way more of those than i thought i would LOL#Anyway this is just one of the ways i analyze the real bobby fulbright#it is not concrete and im not here to dictate how people should view/headcanon/etc him!#just some thoughts that i thought were worthy of sharing :)#i am also writing this while very tired so i hope it makes sense and that theres no repetitions;;;;

DROP THE LORE I BEG OF YOU !!!
⬆️ starving twiddler freak
Our AU (created with @sockszzz) is structured like a TV show. We currently have the basic plot for seasons 1 and 2, along with a few loose ideas for the later seasons. The story begins pre-Two-Face, focusing on Harvey Dent before his transformation. Two-Face himself doesn’t appear until season 2. So in season 2 is where we REALLY get into twiddler shenanigans
Season 1:
In the first season, Harvey and Eddie don’t interact much. Harvey is the District Attorney and is running for Mayor. The season mainly explores his childhood and his close relationship with Bruce Wayne, who has been his friend since childhood. While Bruce is busy as Batman, Harvey’s storyline takes the B plot. He’s focused on investigating the Maroni crime family, trying to build a solid case against them, all while juggling his mayoral campaign. As Gotham's Apollo, he’s determined to clean up the city.
Harvey’s unwavering sense of justice and integrity intimidates the Maroni crime family, so they start putting pressure on him. However, Harvey doesn’t back down—he’s determined to be the one who can withstand Maroni’s intimidation tactics. Maroni, increasingly frustrated, eventually orders an assassination attempt. During a court session involving one of Maroni’s grunts, Harvey has acid thrown in his face, intended to kill him. Miraculously, he survives, but the trauma triggers a mental decline, and his health begins to deteriorate.
Due to the failed assassination attempt, Maroni shares information about Harvey’s DID with Janice Porter, a woman obsessively infatuated with Harvey. Armed with this information, Janice blackmails Harvey into a toxic relationship. As his mental state worsens, Harvey becomes more isolated, refusing help from those around him.
Ironically, instead of breaking him, these events only make Harvey more determined to crack down on Maroni. Seeing his plan backfire, Maroni escalates. One night, while Janice is keeping Harvey occupied, Maroni’s men break into the Dent residence and torture Gilda Dent, Harvey’s pregnant wife. When Harvey arrives home, he’s ambushed, tied up, and beaten, forced to watch as the thugs repeatedly assault and ultimately kill Gilda. Left broken and traumatized, Harvey remains tied up, lying in his own vomit and tears, until the police eventually arrive.
The next day, despite his trauma, Harvey insists on prosecuting a Maroni grunt. Although Gordon expresses his understanding if Harvey wants to step back, Harvey remains resolute. However, the trial ends in betrayal: the judge, bribed by Maroni, declares the grunt innocent. In a fit of rage, Harvey flips his coin and, when it lands the wrong way, he shoots the grunt point-blank in the head. Amid the ensuing chaos, Harvey escapes.
Disillusioned with justice as he once knew it, Harvey realizes that the legal system will never deliver the revenge he craves. He decides to build his own justice system, embracing his new identity as Two-Face—a transformation that marks the beginning of season 2, “The Rise of Two-Face.”
Meanwhile, Edward Nygma (the Riddler) is up to his usual antics, creating distractions for Batman throughout the season. Though his presence doesn’t directly impact the main plot, he serves as an entertaining and chaotic element in Gotham’s landscape.
Season 2:
Harvey is on the rise, slowly building his crime empire. He’s encroaching on other mafia territories, amassing an army to take his revenge on Maroni. Meanwhile, Oswald Cobblepot is growing increasingly uneasy. With Harvey climbing the criminal ranks and old enemies resurfacing—most notably Sofia Falcone, recently released from Arkham—Oswald is beginning to worry about his position as Gotham’s top crime lord.
Sofia, determined to rebuild the Falcone crime empire in her own image and take revenge on Oswald, forms an alliance with Roman Sionis (Black Mask) and his ruthless right-hand man, Victor Zsasz. Tension builds as a gang war looms, with Oswald fiercely defending his territory while both Sofia and Harvey chip away at his control.
Sofia, recognizing Edward Nygma’s intelligence and investigative skills, hires him for her cause. Knowing that money won’t entice Eddie, she appeals to something more tempting: revenge. Playing on the rocky history between Eddie and Oswald, Sofia manipulates Eddie into working for her. However, things go sideways, and Sofia eventually betrays him, trapping Eddie in a torture chamber with his head in a hydraulic press. Miraculously, Eddie escapes, but now bitter and vengeful, he realizes that with both Sofia and Oswald hunting him, he needs an ally.
Recognizing the pragmatic choice, Eddie approaches Harvey to propose a mutually beneficial alliance—offering his intelligence in exchange for protection and manpower. Harvey, while agreeing, takes the opportunity to humble Eddie a bit. As they start working together, their begrudging alliance gradually evolves into a genuine partnership. The two begin to warm up to one another, and their professional relationship starts to shift into something more personal.
During a gang attack, Eddie (along with Miss Tuesday) loses his home, prompting Harvey to offer them a place to stay. Living together brings Eddie and Harvey even closer, blurring the line between business and affection. They slowly develop romantic feelings, culminating in their first kiss after successfully pulling off a heist against Sionis. While Eddie immediately assumes they’re a couple, Harvey takes a bit longer to come to that realization—prompted by Eddie finally making it clear.
— Note: Thats pretty much the synopsis of it, Me and my sister are writing episode PDFS in a script format that goes way more into detail. If you want something a little more story heavy, My sister is writing a semi-cannon story taking place during season two of our AU on AO3. Check it out: https://archiveofourown.org/works/65245519/chapters/167843455, if the link for whatever reason doesn´t work its called ¨In Harvey Dent we trust¨.
