Funny thing, that's kinda what mine tried to do. Regulation on the 5V+ rail started to go haywire, and the voltage started climbing, which broke alot of things. Thing is, it's not the regulator's fault! Replaced that twice, and it would be okay for a bit, but then it would happen again. Replaced the small caps, reformed the big caps, replaced every single fucking resistor on there, still happened. I have learned that some of the transistors might be leaky and responsible for backfeeding the u723 regulator.

It's all moot now, I built a replacement modular switchmode supply. Runs quieter, cooler, and more efficiently.

They can't tell you not to touch the minicomputer if you own the minicomputer.
