@sheshootsxruns -> " Come on Clint! You said you were gonna help me train for my PAT! " -young anya in the fire academy
It was not that he had forgotten that he had made that promise. Clint meant all the promises that he made, or at least he was trying to. Helping plucky recruits so they didn't wash out as many times as he had. (Granted he had additional challenges compared to most and plainly there were a lot of departments across the country that wouldn't even give him a glance; it's the hearing aids).
Eventually, he had made it through and found himself in Texas of all places. Damn state gave him a shudder but that more had to do with bad circus memories than anything else. Clint's proven that he was more than qualified. He didn't more dangerous shit back in his carnie days than he did now.
Part of his new deal on existence was simply this; to give back to people, to life, and be what he hadn't had growing up. So he had meant his promise to Anya that he'd drill her over the PAT as many times as she needed; probably push her twice as hard as any sargarent at the academy did. If he had to, if that's what she needed. Clint knows he had needed a kick in the ass, still did but he was managing life better.
He didn't forget, but the ex-carnie was entirely consumed this week with rotting in his apartment until Anya's at his door. His phone mostly forgotten unless he heard the ring tone or felt vibration pattern from the firehouse go off (he set that up so he never missed an emergency and it let him ignore everyone else).
Lucky and Bishop were bugging him about the door and he finally relents; opening it to Anya. Clint gives her a once over and sighs, hopefully it doesn't look like he's just come out of a nap but Anya's already known him to be a patented Barton mess. ❝ You sure you're up for what old Hawkeye got in store? ❞ He's told her about what he did in his youth and early twenties, right?
❝ You take Lucky's leash, the pups can come with us for the warmup jog.... Before we even start. ❞

DOES SHE SEE HIS FACE? ⸻ He's got on a face that is not amused. That's because she was saying this to HIM. ❝ C'mon, captain of the bullshit brigade. @sheshootsxruns | Plotted for a Starter

So much time had passed since he'd seen the girl. Not girl. Soldier. His joints ached with the deterioration of time, but he was stronger than ever. How long had he waited to be awakened? Decades after the red room had fallen into obscurity. At least that's what most people who were part of the project thought.
There was no giving up the red room, no giving up the winter solider. Hydra always had their tentacles in places no one noticed. It was their gift as an organization. And when they finally had awoken him from his slumber it was for once purpose only. To retrieve the operative.
V had watched her for months, watching as she settled into the Avengers tower. Watched as her team members welcomed her like family. What a load of bullshit. The anger that festered in his gut set a fire inside, pushing him to act, but he had to pick his moment. If there was any chance of getting back his pawn.
There she was, alone, vulnerable, ripe for the taking.
"WinterWidow." he spoke in a gruff low voice, stepping next to her on the street. His secret weapon hiding in plain sight as he set the pheromones to keep her in control.
He turned to face her, holding up a finger, commanding her silence.
"I want you to know the work you've done infiltrating the Avengers has been ...exquisite."

"Come back cookies with me!" - christmas cookie random ask for nico
@sheshootsxruns
Nico, walking through one of the halls at the Avengers' compound, hears the familiar voice of Anya Barnes, a girl roughly her age, and daughter of two of the assassin Avengers, Bucky Barnes and Natasha Romanoff. Nico stop to see Anya standing in a nearby doorway, looking at her. Nico smiled at Anya and pointed to herself. "Are you asking me?" Nico briefly thought about it and thought it might be fun. It is the season after all. Nico shrugged then smiled and walked toward Anya. "Sure. Sounds like fun. But do you even know how to bake?" Nico smirks as she made her voice very apparent that she was jokingly teasing Anya.

"You get used to them." Natasha let her daughter lay close to her. She never found it strange when Anya needed it. "I've been having nightmares since I was fifteen." She admitted, staring at the dark ceiling.
Natasha nodded her head, pulling back the covers on the empty side of the bed. "Come on. Get in." She ordered softly, rolling onto her side.

@sheshootsxruns | said ❛ i'm so excited for the holidays already! ❜
There was something so endearing about Anya's excitement. Seeing the woman grow into someone who was openly enthusiastic about anything was a treasure. Kaylee giggled, her lips pursed against a smile as she eyed Anya up and down. "Well it is the most wonderful time of the year." her voice crackled off key as she sang the line terribly. Kaylee was many things but she did not inherit her father's musical prowess.

"Any thoughts about how you want to celebrate?" Kaylee asked, knowing the journey for Anya had been a long and winding road. Kaylee's nondenominational heart stuck with the social aspect of Christmas, and she carried on the traditions her parents set with their philanthropic ventures. "I gotta know if I'm getting you a present or what." the blonde beamed.

The witch shrugged at the other teen and began nodding as though Anya had just complimented Nico and the Runaways with her asking for their help. It felt good to help people, even if they were stubborn one like this girl seemed. Nico wasn't sure what any of her team could do specifically, other than how smart Alex was. Although that being said they did know Cloak & Dagger, they were great at tracking people down. They had tracked the Runaways down pretty quickly after they came out as a super hero team of teenagers fighting against the crime syndicate known as The Pride, that just so happened to be run by the parents of the Runaways. Anya was right about Nico's parents, as much as she hated it. Nico tried to rationalize it by pointing out the fact that this girl's parents were trained hired killers, and not just killers but governmentally ran assassins. Well they were, now they are super heroes. Nico sighed. "I know. I know. I'm sorry." Nico put her palms out and pumped them forward and back, indicating a "hold up" motion. "T' be honest I donno what exactly the Runaways can do. We do tend to help other runaway kids and teens, a lot. That being said I know a few other heroes that could help. We can start there. How bout that?" With a smile, Nico pulled out her phone and looked for Alex's number and texted
*"Hey Alex. I need you to get in contact with Cloak & Dagger. We got some missing kids to help find."* She wasn't trying to be rude, but Nico did want get a hold of Alex and by proxy Cloak & Dagger.

The effort was mostly there. But the second you said anything that she could perceive as being in disfavor to her parents , and any attempt to be reasonable was off the table. A massive character flaw to be sure. And while that wasn't what was happening here . . . well , teenagers were rarely known to see things that way.
Plus she had a temper , and she was trying very hard to control that temper. Her jaw clenched , holding her tongue for now while this girl spoke. God did everyone in America sound so condescending all the time? Or was it just her.
It was probably just her . . .
Rolling her eyes , she crossed her arms over her chest , looking back to Niko. ❝ Fine , it's whatever. ❞ She mocked the other at the tail end of her reluctant and snarky agreement. ❝ Look , I'm askin for your help cause I was told you guys were the mostly likely t'know what's goin on. I can go find someone else who can track down these missing kids if you would rather. ❞

The sense of worry and anxiety that washed over her left as quickly as Anya told her it was fine. She tracked the light hesitation, but Kaylee was quick to believe those at face value. She wanted to give Anya the space to speak truth and was hopefully providing it.
They sat close, shoulders bumping together as Kaylee twisted her hips to comfortable face toward Anya. "Oh yeah!" she held out her hand, her cellphone in her palm. The glass screen lit up brilliantly, blue orbs swirling just above into a holographic frame.
"So the phone is connected to the tv via wifi, you can use it to open networks, apps, pretty much anything you want. The tv is more like a fancy computer monitor at this point." Kaylee started, flicking her finger through the screens.

"Google has the market on browsing but for privacy purposes dad created his own to use personally. This way nothing you search for can be accessed by anyone else. Other than dad of course but he's got so much in his head he doesn't really pay attention."
She flipped the phone horizontally, a holographic keyboard popping up and typed in dark blue blanket. "And look now you have your pick."
"There's also the A.I. Friday if you don't feel like doing it on your phone you can just ask her and she'll pop up but we need to make sure your voice activation is set up."

𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙷𝚄𝙶 𝚆𝙰𝚂𝙽'𝚃 𝚄𝙽𝚆𝙴𝙻𝙲𝙾𝙼𝙴 , 𝙱𝚄𝚃 𝚁𝙰𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚁 𝙲𝙰𝚄𝙶𝙷𝚃 𝙷𝙴𝚁 𝙾𝙵𝙵 𝙶𝚄𝙰𝚁𝙳. She wasn't used to the affection coming from anyone but her family , and that had only started very recently. Anya enjoyed people , at least , the ones that she liked. Learning to trust had taken more time than other things had.
She moved casually when Kaylee pulled out of the kiss , shaking her head and scoffing when she apologized , as if to brush it off a bit.
❝ It's um , it's okay. ❞ The hesitation wasn't her lying about it being okay , it really was. She just wasn't sure how to respond to the affection being given. Hugs weren't a thing with HYDRA and the Red Room. When her dad had first tried to hug her , she had shied away from it. Sometimes se wanted nothing to do with being touched , other times it was welcome.
Anya watched the cheerful blonde bound over to the spot in front of the bed , sitting down and facing the tv with the idea to shop on the tv.
Her brows furrowed , but humored her as she slowly stepped toward the spot Kaylee was sat down on , looking from her to the tv with slight confusion. ❝ I'm sorry . . . Did you just say shop on the tv? ❞ The young brunette sat down next to Kaylee , looking at the tv. ❝ Didn't know they did that now . . . ❞

The air around them turned warmer as Kaylee's excitement reverberated through her entire being. She went to grab Anya's wrist to pull back her sleeve and check out the hardware when her brain caught up to her and she stopped.
Shining blue eyes cut over to her friend. "How good is it? Do you need any upgrades already? Does it have a good response? Do you need some further testing on it?" Kaylee gasped as the words spilled out. "Or do you want me to just shut up about it because as my friend I should not gawk at you like a piece of machinery?" she asked as the realization dawned on her that Anya might not want to be bombarded with so many questions.
That was absolutely no surprise to Anya. When you were Kaylee . . . The whole world was able to move and bend to you. If she didn't know any better, she would think there were likely some people who thought she was a God.
" Of course you'll just buy the restaurant. " She shook her head. A bright smile on her face as they walked for the door. When asked what she had been up to . . . She shrugged and huffed out a sigh.
" Oh you know . . . Mostly just sparred with Dad. Getting used to the new hardware. " Anya was outwardly dealing with the new arm rather well but really she was just saving it for when she was alone. She put on a smile and rolled her eyes. " Honestly . . . It's a bit much. "

andie tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear, bundled to the cheeks in her own coat and scarf—a handmade and soft pink and green number. "you're gonna catch your death if you're not careful." her breath puffs out in front of her with every word. it's far too cold for anya to be out here like this and not even dressed warm enough. a nice pair of gloves—maybe a hat—would help, andie thinks. something in orangey-red, maybe. she pays no mind to anya's awkwardness, already planning the pattern in her head.
tie. for your muse to adjust an article of clothing on my muse.
@lvebug sent an ask !
She froze, like an animal CAUGHT in a trap. Ever the dramatic one, that was Anya. Any time someone made an advance like that they were ALWAYS met with the same reaction. She wasn't FAMILIAR with the act yet. The idea still being a FOREIGN one to her.
Anya relaxed her shoulders when the other woman reached to fix her coat, the cold air of the WINTERY New York blowing her hair about her face. She cleared her breath, taking a step back to create some space she was SURE was needed after she had gone and made the situation awkward. " Uh . . . Thanks. " Nice one Anya. That really helped.

hands on her hips, she peers not at anya, but up. "well have you got a different way of getting up there?" this really seemed like a phenomenally simple solution: they need to be on top of a very tall building, and andie is quite good at getting on top of very tall buildings. it would be easy for her, she could climb up the side or shoot a webline and swing up—the later being her current plan, only with the addition of anya. she bounces on her toes and swings her arms forward, then back, in a stretch. "this'll be a lot faster."
i'm going to carry you, of course. - @lvebug
She was going to do WHAT NOW ?! Anya looked at the other with a bit of a furrowed brow . . . and an INCREDULOUS LOOK on her face. " I'll be fine . . . You don't have to. "

"Nightmare." She didn't go into detail about her time in the Russian Armed Forces very often, unless she was asked. So no one knew she had trauma from the war.
continued from here. // @warwidcw.
"The fact that you think I was already in bed is hilarious." She moved to sit down , instead of doing what her mom had said. "Nobody in this family sleeps well." Anya settled and looked back at Natasha , a curious look on her face. "What's got ya up?"

"Ivan Petrovich Bezukhov was not a good man, Anya. Yes, I will say that he did the right thing by taking me in as a baby when my mother died in the fire, instead of putting me in an orphanage." She drank her tea. "But Ivan ... had something wrong with him. And when we became super soldiers in the 1950s, it made him worse. I don't know if it's because he was in the Red Army, and it just caused him trauma from the war, or if it was something else. And I don't care enough to look deeper into that."
"will you tell me about my grandfather?"
"You mean, the man who took me in as a baby and raised me for ten years? Him?" She wouldn't exactly refer to Ivan as Anya's grandfather. Not in a lifetime. She despised the man now. To her, Ivan wasn't her father, and never will be. Natasha sighed. "I guess so."
