Custom Pet Genetics Tutorial: Dogs

At long last, I am super excited to share with all of you my newest finished project: custom dog furs! I originally planned to have this out on Halloween, but it ended up being a much bigger and more complicated than I expected. Just like with the cat furs, these dog furs come in 51 shades of @pooklet​ colors, 20 lovely natural and 31 fantastic unnatural shades. They have been tested by me and @galaxy-maiden​, and each fur is fully breedable with working fur accessories.

Important Notice: Before downloading, these do require a bit of instructions. Included in the download is a file called MaxisAccFurDogFix. This file contains information that gives the available fur accessories (such as poodle puffs, beards, and brows) new family values. It is required if you want custom furs to be breedable with Maxis original fur colors. Plus, without it the fur accessories will appear white.

Also included is a folder called PetBreeds. It contains 15 Maxis breed packages that use fur accessories. Please merge this with your games PetBreeds folder and let the 15 pet breeds overwrite the files. Doing so will make these 15 breeds recognize the new family values of their applied fur accessory and display them accordingly.

The last file included in the download is a text file. Because of the way the MaxisAccFurDogFix works, if you have any previously created dogs or custom dog breeds that use accessory furs, these accessories will disappear from them. Fixing these dogs or breeds is a fairly simple procedure, however, and the text file contains information on how to fix them.

Lastly, before starting up your game please delete your cache files from your game folder. I also upgraded my KittenEyeFix in include a PuppyEyeFix so please redownload for the new addition.

Bari Build Set in Knotty Pine Woods

Why have I caught the recoloring bug? When will it run its course? No idea, but for now you get Veranka's conversion of mutske's Bari Build Set. All seven Knotty Pine textures, and a black inner-frame subset. Plus I figured out how to make fences, so you can further clutter up your fence catalog!

Two taller addons for Mutske's Jock Cabinet 04 as requested by @daydreamingdrawerette. Like the original addon they're repo'd to Smitty Classy's TV Shrine so AL is required. For maximum cuteness I also made ten recolors in Anna's colors. Note: for whatever reason the topmost slots can only be accessed if there's something in the slot below them. Otherwise they function normally.

Vital mesh fix by @pforestsims HERE

When @rascalcurious put out this TS4 conversion, I knew I simply needed to have this mock turtleneck as a separate top.

This *new* mesh: a top version of @ice-creamforbreakfast's Daphne outfit.

It has cleaned up hard seams, a slightly boxier waist and the bottom of it should meet the EA waist as well.

And 20 recolors of course! And a preg and fat morph as well.

Default replacement of emBodyOpenSweaterPantsShoes, from Base Game. The mesh was replaced by @whattheskell, but I wanted Mortimer Goth's outfit to still have its original colors. While making that change, I ended up making new recolors to replace the other two outfits as well. Download link and a before-and-after picture are under the cut.

Recommended: While this outfit is only available for elders, Skell converted the top part for other ages. They work with my default replacement, but make sure you don't have the one made by Skell as well. Otherwise, your game will use the textures from whichever default it loads last.

Hi friends! This is the first part of my pride conversions this year, I really love Blahberry Pancake's stuff so I specifically wanted to start with something from her awesome cc collection. Ended up choosing these glasses because they're super pretty :3 And I decided to go minimalistic with swatches this time, so for each flag I've picked only one frame color. Included are following flags: rainbow, philadelphia pride rainbow, lesbian, pan, bi, non-binary, asexual, transgender. Have fun with these!!!

Based off the fact this set itself is 15% of a GB even after all that texture referencing I did, I guess this can be considered a megaset.

So, first off you get the Skyrim Light Iron Armor and the Heavy Iron Armors. The Heavy one is the one with more armor pieces on it. It's a reasonable number of polygons. It's ~9K polygons and available for teen - elder. No separates versions. However, you do have options between my lower poly version of smooth hands or Maxis meshes for the hands but you must only choose one.

Below is a close up on my new hand mesh in action. Body meshes and resources for my new hands will be available in the future. These hands are 1,650 vs 470 for Maxis hands. The Original Smooth Hands is 2,200+ polygons.

Next, there's the iron helmet which is not a true hat hair since I have commitment issues for which hair I'd want to pair to the helmet. This hairstyle is under 4k polygons and available for all categories so you'll have to manually set them. Available teen-elder.

Next up you have the Skyrim guard armor which is definitely low polygon. This one's under 3,000 polygons and it is available teen-elder. I've made a ton of my own textures for it in the swatches above. It also comes in the colors of the original 9 Skyrim holds. This one also comes with separates (tops and bottoms) that are categorized the same as the full body outfits. Available teen-elder. Everyday, Athletic, Outerwear.

I also did the helmets in matching colors. The helmet is also pretty low poly at 734 polygons. It's also not a true hat hair so it's for all categories since I have commitment issues which what hair I'd want to pair it with.

For both of these, because there are so many different age groups and mesh options that all are capable of sharing the same texture, the textures have been separated into separate texture files that are required. So you'll make sure you have the required body files and the corresponding texture files. Swatches are also included and labeled so you can figure out which colors you want. Without the texture files, nothing will work.

Coming in last are gambesons from The Witcher 3 that come in at around 10,200 polygons. Like the guard armor, this one has separates (tops and bottoms) that are categorized the same as the full body meshes. For this one you'll have a required body texture file, the gambeson texture file/pants texture file/both (if full body), and the boots you want. There are swatches included but the color scheme is roughly the same offerings as the Skyrim Guard gambesons above. This one is available child-elder. Everyday, Athletic, Outerwear.

4t2 Cone of Shame

@calibysims First, oh gosh you are so sweet. Thank you so much for the praise!

Secondly, you are so right, TS2 DOES need a cone of shame. I haven’t seen one around though, so I went ahead and converted it myself. I don’t know why I didn’t think of doing this earlier, so thank you so much for bringing this to my attention.

Now for the details! This is a 4t2 conversion of the Cone Of Shame for cats, small dogs, and big dogs. They do morph with the pet’s head, but some clipping does occur on the weirder head shapes (moreso dogs than cats, since dogs have more head shape diversity than cats). Also, they do clip through the ears, so they look a bit better on smaller eared pets or floppy eared dogs, but even with ear clipping they’re still pretty cute in my opinion. Ideally, I’d make an overlay animation box to go with these to make pets have sad ears at all times when in the cone, but that’s a bit beyond my expertise. They are “collars”, so you will have to buy them from a pet accessory stand or apply them to a new pet in CAS. Just place the packages into your download folder. Other than that, I can’t really think of what else to mention, so have fun!

Update: I’ve since learned a bit more about pet cc and have edited the cones to now have morph significantly less. With that discovery, maybe one day I’ll come back and edit the actual mesh as well
