It's not an ideal way of spending a Saturday evenings, honestly. That, of course, is not her priority right now. Getting to her feet and checking that Naoto is, indeed, alive is.

Once that's confirmed, and she offers a hand to help her get to her feet, muttering an apology for being so rough with her. After that is done, Okita then shoots a glare at the car, continuing to speed out of sight without a care in the world.

"...They'd better run. If they'd come out here after that - I would have killed them."

There is not a hint of irony or sarcasm in her voice. Though whether or not she'd have actually followed through with that statement would forever remain a mystery.

When she was a toddler, they were toddlers

When she was a teen, they were teens

When she turned into a (-responsible) adult, they did. Biologically speaking, of course. She’s certain especially Daniela hasn’t made it all the way there, at times

But, all in all, she’s very similar to her sisters as it comes to age, despite being the eldest and their older sister

And then, there’s you…

A new sibling, a new sister

A little sister

But…a real, far younger sister

A teen

A teen, whereas she has lived for centuries

Bela has been fond of you from the start. Sure, she wasn’t originally happy about getting another sister, but the moment she laid eyes on you and got to know you, she started to love you just as she loves and treasures and protects her sisters

At first, it’s very difficult for her to act as a sister, truthfully, rather than a mother

You’re just so…young, compared to her! It’s difficult for her not to get overly maternal, as she sometimes still tends to get with your older sisters

Bela tries to understand you, and your interests

Especially with how unreachable Bela seems at times; so intelligent, such good manners. Loved or respected by nearly everyone despite her nature, purely because of how she presents herself

Mother’s heiress…

She seems so impossibly strong, in her own way. Of course, you partly look up to her. But it’s difficult to see yourself on the same level as her

Sometimes, you’re sure because of all this she must be Mother’s favorite, and it occasionally nabs at you, how you have no chance of getting to where she is

But, she loves you dearly, and you love her

She will always comfort and guide you, even help you grow

She’s your protector, in a way, helping you always

Especially when feelings get the better of you. She reassures you often; it’s okay to feel this and that, and that it’s perfectly normal to feel certain things at your age

She also puts you in your place when you’re in the wrong, though, gently telling you and ensuring you know: she still loves you after

And, actually, you find Bela gives amazing hugs, and while she isn’t the sister to hug without asking what’s wrong, you find comfort in that, too

Out of all of your sisters Bela is best at controlling her strenght

Which, sometimes, is a little unfortunate because she’s also the sister that refuses to wrestle with you for fun. Apparently, she doesn’t “see the point” in that

At least she feels utterly comfortable hugging you, knowing that she won’t hurt you

The first time she heard of having a sister, she was thrilled!

And when she met you the first time, the two of you got along instantly

Cassandra feels much less unreachable than her older sister

She’s sadistic, has a short temper- much like your mother, at times- and rough

But you love her, and she loves and treasures you

She’s the first to take you out on a hunt to the forest, is the one to teach you to fight and keep yourself safe

While she has a little more difficulty controlling her strength at times and therefore occasionally keeps her distance, she has never hurt you

Cassandra is, in her own way, a role model to you

She’s fierce and powerful

She easily takes down her prey and entertains you with her stories of her hunts and previous victims

She teaches you to be strong, teaches you what it means to be a Dimitrescu. And even when you can’t be strong, she’s strong for you, easily putting others in their place with a mere glance their way

Cassandra and you spend a lot of time together, and she’s genuinely interested in most you have to say

By now you know, she will not care for gossip or anything like that. The wrong sister for that, certainly. And you know, she won’t even bother pretending to listen to that

But, she’ll listen to all you’re genuinely passionate about, perhaps even participate if it’s for her

She encourages you to follow your hobbies and make the most of them

Like with her sisters, after all, Alcina allows you to choose at least one hobby and fully supports it. She will not stand for any of her daughters not pursuing anything, however

When you have difficulty choosing what could be fit for you, Cassandra is eager to help out

She shows you this and that, and is eager to try most new things with you

Cassandra is also the sister to turn to when you want to know what they and your mother were like a few centuries ago

She’ll tell you every detail she so easily remembers, occasionally also brag about things she did particularly well

Often, she’ll sprinkle in a few details you’re sure aren’t quite that true, but you don’t mind

You find, she also inspires you to be creative like that!

Speaking of little half truths here and there, Cassandra is the first to teach you how to lie and get away with it at the castle

Now, of course you’ve lied plenty times already in your life

But with Alcina, it seems impossible. Like she fully knows when you’re not being entirely honest

Even Bela seems to know, somehow, sometimes!

It’s infuriating, but Cassandra is quick to teach you

In return, she becomes about the only sister you are always truthful to

You never feel the need to lie to her, even when you’re planning on doing something stupid or risky

Often enough she’ll join in, or cover for you at least

When she does tell you not to do something, which is rare, you listen

You know, she means well, and doesn’t underestimate you or whatever you’re about to do

You value her opinion, and when she says not to do something, she tends to be right

Daniela finds you utterly adorable, as she calls you

She doesn’t quite remember her “teen” years, really

But that’s okay

She’s every bit as playful and still has a bit of a habit to get herself into trouble, much like you do, occasionally

She likes to join you when you’re about to do something risky, and at times even is the one proposing it and whining to you about joining her

Of course, she will always keep you safe during those times

Though your mother is unhappy to say at the least when she catches you, her youngest, covered in dirt and blood from head to toe after your sister insisted throwing guts like snowballs is a blast!

In many ways, Daniela doesn’t quite feel like an older sister

She’s playful, a little immature, teasing, socially intelligent, and quite handsy with the maidens. She’s a little clingy and delusional, but always has your best interests at heart, the same as your other sisters

She always has some gossip to talk to you about, rambling about this and that she picked up while lounging and swarming about in the castle

She loves to read, and loves to share her favorite books with you

Unlike her sisters, she isn’t overly picky with her interests, either

She isn’t into mathematics or science. Aside from that, she’ll happily learn about all you’re interested in

She’ll participate in your hobbies, or lounge on your bed like a lazy cat while you ramble about your hobbies and fixations

She doesn’t mind at all. She loves to learn about new things, and remembers surprisingly much you tell her despite her short term memory span

Often, she remembers even more of your stories and ramblings than your other sisters do, as she’s genuinely interested in your hobbies, even when she has no clue about them

Daniela, in a way, feels like a best friend rather than a sister

She’s always there for you, will always protect and teach you. She’s silly, playful, will never say no to some good fun and often even convince you to “play” with the maidens or her sisters, seeing how much the two of you can annoy them until they notice

She teaches you to be strong too, yes, but perhaps even more so, Daniela has a way of teaching you how to get along with people

How to blend in with them, how to lure information from others by casually being around them

No, not by using some reverse psychology and what not like Bela. By listening. By being friendly. By making them ramble on their own

She teaches you to make friends, even with the reputation of your family, and how to effortlessly start conversations

And even when you can’t make a friend, she reminds you that you will always have your family

Barrage was coming home from a hard day at work. His hand was on his face covering his eyes as he sat at the red light, he groans when it finally turns green.

He pulls up into the driveway of his home, opening the front door and kicking his boots off at the front.

“Baby! I’m home! You would not believe the day I had,” he says, taking his jacket off and hanging it up, he comes around the corner and doesn’t see Y/n in her usual spot after she gets home from work.

Maybe she’s working late? But Y/n hardly ever works late.

He walks upstairs and opens the crack bedroom door, in the bed he sees his wife all snuggled up under the blankets.

“Baby?” He questions, looking at her and quickly moving to her to see what is the matter. He placed the back of his hand on her forehead. “Baby, you’re burning up.”

“I don’t feel good,” she mumbles under the covers.

“I can tell.” He says, he goes into the bathroom and starts pulling out medications for Y/n to take.

“I-I’ve already tried those,” she tells him.

“Did they do anything?”

“Maybe s-stop my cough for a little bit,” she says, sitting up only for Calvin to come by and grab her shoulders to rest her down.

“No, baby, stay down, you need to sleep-“

“The kids also n-need to be p-picked up from s-school.” She reminds him.

“Dammit, I don’t wanna leave you-“

“I’ve been stuck home all day for 7 hours, I’ll be okay, go get them, and I’ll take a few more medicine.”

“Yes, now go on,” she says, patting his buff arm.

Barrage was always a worry wort when it came to his wife’s health, I mean the man took an oath to her when they got married he’ll be there for her through sickness and health.

He got his boots back on along with his coat and rushed out of the house.

Y/n grabs a blanket and wraps herself up in the warmth, she goes to the bathroom where she saw all the medications spread out on the sinks counter. She slightly chuckles and takes a Tylenol and a grave a handful of cough drops and heads back to bed to continue her resting.

Calvin sat in that car rider line for what felt like 30 minutes, (it’s was 10 minutes) he sees his kids Reed his son and Addie his daughter standing outside Reed looking for a familiar car while holding his little sisters hand.

Once the line moved Barrage rolls the window down and Reed walks to his dad’s truck opening the back door for Addie to get in and he gets into the passenger side.

“Come on, come on, buckle up,” Calvin says.

“Why are we in a rush?” Reed asked.

“Your mom is sick and I want to get home, asap.”

“What does asap mean?” Addie asked from the back.

“As soon as possible,” Calvin says, bluntly as he pulls out of the parking lot. The man was panicking like if he didn’t get home in time something bad was going to be happen, and nothing was, the man is dramatic.

When Barrage started driving he might have started breaking some traffic laws, speeding, tailgating, slightly running a red light, which Addie called him out on for not waiting.

“So, daddy, if I have to be somewhere does that mean asap?”

“Yes, baby.”

“So we have to get home because mama is sick.”

“Yep, I just want us to get there, so I can take care of her and help her.”

“Can I help her?” Addie asked.

“I don’t know baby, I don’t want you getting sick as well.”

“I won’t get sick, I promise.”

“Baby, that’s not up to you, it’s up to your body and how mama’s germs might hurt you.”

“What about you then?”

“I’ll be okay. I’m tough.”

“I am too.”

Y/n had her eyes closed and she heard the front door slam shut, she opened her eyes and heard Addie’s voice from downstairs asking for a snack.

Barrage ended up giving Addie some grapes and Reed had gone upstairs to start on his homework.

Barrage goes upstairs and pushes the door at the end of the hallway seeing Y/n in the same place he left her.

“Did you take any of the medicine?”

“I-I took a Tylenol and a few cough drops,” she says. Barrage sat on the edge of the bed caressed her hair, she looked so at peace with Barrage comforting her.

"The kids are home, and they're safe, but how are you feeling?"

"Still worse," she says.

"Baby, why didn't you tell me you were sick this morning?" Calvin asked.

"I don't know, maybe I could go to work and suck it up, but I got up and got ready but the moment I was ready to leave. I started to feel sick and my stomach was hurting and I just called in, I didn't tell you cause I wanted you to keep working."

"And the kids?"

"I told them to take the bus and either me or you would pick them up."

Barrage looks down at her and takes a deep breath. "If you feel sick baby, I wouldn't mind coming home early just to take care of you...do you want some tea?"

"Do we have any?"

"I think we have peppermint, chamomile, ginger and elderberry."

"I'll take chamomile."

"The way you like it?" She just nods at his question, he kissed her forehead and walks out of the bedroom and into the hallway, where he sees Addie heading to her room, but she stops and sees her dad walking towards her, his hand goes to the top of her head and pats her black hair as he continues past her to the kitchen.

Addie looks at the bedroom at the end of the hallway and goes towards it, she sees Y/n laying on the bed, snuggled under the blankets and she opens her eyes seeing Addie coming towards the bed.

"Mama?" Y/n placed her arm out to keep the distance between her and Addie.

"Stay there baby," Y/n says, giving her a soft smile. "I don't want you getting sick too."

"But I want to see you mama."

"I'm right here."

"How'd you get sick?" Addie asked.

"I'm not sure baby, just woke up not feeling great."

"Are you feeling better?"

"Not really, daddy went to go make me some tea, so I can feel somewhat better," she smiles at her daughter.

"Reed said you have a cold."

"I do."

"Addie," Calvin came into the bedroom, placing the mug on Y/n's nightstand and picking Addie up.

"I wanna stay with mama."

"She needs rest, come on, let's go play," Barrage says, carrying his daughter back into her bedroom and placed her down on her rug.

"What did I say?" He reminds her.

"To keep my distance."

"Yes, baby, come on now, how about we play or do you have homework that needs to be done?" He asked. She looks down at her feet.

"Homework." She says.

"Then let's get it done," he says as she opens her backpack and pulls out her pink folder covered in stickers and some pencil designs.

Y/n just felt worse, Barrage sat on the edge of the bed holding Y/n's hand as she was heavy breathing as if she had just ran a marathon, her nose was also stuffed up, so she could hardly breath along with a few small whistles coming from her nose that drove her insane, and every time she sniffled trying to clear it, just felt worse.

Barrage had placed a cold rag on her forehead as she laid on her back, his hand moves from holding her hand to moving under her shirt not trying to do anything but just felt to rest there.

"Cal?"

"It's okay, do you wanna take a bath and try to lower your temp?"

"I-I can t-try," she tries to get up, Barrage took the rag off her forehead and he didn't let her touch her ground, he picks her up and takes her to the bathroom, he kicks the door shut but made sure it was cracked.

He sets her on the counter and turns to turn on the bath, he made sure the water was lukewarm, he turns to help her remove her clothes, her sweatpants, her fluffy socks that were so thick to keep her feet warm, then her hoodie (Barrage's hoodie). He picks her back up and gently placed her in the bath.

"I'm gonna go check on the kids, let me know when you're hungry and I'll make you some soup."

"Okay," her face was red and flushed.

Honestly this wasn't something I had thought about yet so thanks for throwing something at me that I actually wasn't ready to answer! Admittedly the au itself is actually a bit more of a general story than focused on Staged Duo alone, but they are a focal point and Dream is one of the main POVs - but regardless after a bit of thinking, I think I've figured out how the two met! (Pardon the rambling here)

All in all Sirens and Mermaids don't cross paths all that often - mermaids tend to be an ocean fairing species and greatly prefer deeper waters. They avoid conflict with humans by staying out of reach, generally avoiding inland areas most of the time. Sirens, due to lacking gills, often keep closer to shore and a fair few have a preference for setting up territories within swamps and estuaries, as it gives them a bit more security than living by the coasts in terms of avoiding human conflicts.

Due to Dream tending to be adventurous and Punz most likely dwelling within a more brackish water area their paths crossed numerous times before properly meeting. Simple cases of 'being aware' that the other was there or witnessing the other from afar. They never spoke, mostly due to a slight difference in language (namely just the fact that Sirens can't communicate underwater like Mers - who click and chirp much like whales and dolphins) as well as Punz being well, Punz and generally keeping a lot of distance between him and Dream. Though this finally changes when Punz unfortunately ends up struck by a boat - the siren is left injured and frankly not in the best of states when Dream happens upon him again.

The interaction is tense and Punz definitely is defensive, hell it probably takes a couple of days of trying to help on Dream's end before he can actually get close enough to do anything. So their first 'official' meeting turns into a few weeks of Punz begrudgingly accepting help and by extension Dream's company, which he grows to like more than he would ever admit out loud. (Both of them have been alone for like 70% of their lives, probably more on Punz's end, so their relationship probably develops rather quickly from that point honestly - also just differences in culture, the marine people do not know what dating is your honor)

apart from her more vivacious energy ,,, she’s also really caring when it comes to you . you look after her , make sure she’s doing okay , and she tends to your emotional needs , like very verbally affectionate , lends an ear when she notices you’re stressed , so on and so forth ꒰ though you both do those things for each other , but like those are your “primary” roles if that makes sense , like more often than not you find yourself looking out and caring for her and she finds herself more and more compassionate to you stuff like that T  T ꒱
