Accuracy in the Automatic Gearboxes in the Modern Best Automatic Car.
Automatic cars have become the top choice for drivers across the globe and Indians too have joined the party. Convenience, smooth shifting and easy driving has resulted in people opting for autos instead of manual vehicles.
This gearbox began as basic gear shifting mechanisms with a lower fuel economy than the manual gearboxes of old. The advancement in technology for automobiles and electronics has led to greater efficiency and accuracy in the automatic gearboxes in the modern Best automatic cars.
Are you in the market to buy an automatic vehicle in India? Are you confused by the variety of automatic gearbox options available in the market? Before buying this gearbox, here are five types of auto-driven gearboxes you need to know about - AMT, CVT DCT, Torque Converter and IMT.
Automated Manual Transmission (or AMT)
Also known as semi-automatic transmission, AMT cars are the most used autos to be found on Indian roads. In addition to being inexpensive, AMT cars are an essential upgrade to the manual gear cars, with a few design tweaks. The automatic vehicle is great for people who want to combine high fuel efficiency and low costs of maintenance.
The AMT gearbox is used in diesel, petrol CNG and even LPG vehicles AMT is usually available in both entry level-segment and mid-level cars, including such models as the Maruti Swift, Alto, Brezza, Renault Duster as well as the Tata Nexon to name but a few.
Continuous Variable Transmission (or CVT)
If you're looking for an automatic car with a more silent transmission, then CVT vehicles should be your choice. CVT can also be found in many automatic scooters (Activa, Dio) in India. Technically, CVT vehicles do not have any clutches, gears or clutches - thus are best suited for users looking for smoother and more comfortable driving experience on their automatic vehicles.
Like AMT CVT is also offered in the most well-known cars in India including that of the Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz, Honda City, and Nissan Micra.
Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)
Also known as the direct-shift gearbox (or DSG), Dual-clutch transmission is easily among the market's advanced automatic car technologies today. In essence, DCT uses a twin-clutch system that is responsible for smooth gear shifts. Based on the engine's torque Automatic cars employ either dry clutches (for DCT) or wet-clutches (for DSG).
With the most modern generation of cars, DCT offers faster and the most precise gear shiftsand is extremely durable and effective. Its biggest disadvantage is that DCT vehicles are less fuel economy than manual. If you are feeling a lack of power during driving on hills or critical overtakes in a highway, you can easily downshift within a blink of your eye! Some cars equipped with this gearbox configuration feature paddle shifters which make driving even more convenient. You can find this technology in many popular vehicles like Hyundai Venue, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Polo, and Ford Figo.
Torque Converters
The Torque Converter technology was an innovation that paved the way for the rise of automobiles that are automated so it's typical to see these automatic cars on Indian roads. The most appealing feature of torque converters are their almost quiet as well as "free from niggles" gearbox. If you are looking for an automated vehicle designed for continuous use and with a smooth gear shift the best option is to go for DCT cars , though you must put up with its low fuel efficiency.
Because of their early development of torque converters, they are available in many car variants including the Mahindra ZUV, Tata Hexa, VW Polo, Skoda Rapid and Hyundai Verna.
Intelligent Manual Transmission (or IMT)
In the midst of the most recent innovations in autos that use automatics, IMT offers a complete manual transmission without clutch and no clutch pedal. IMT employs automatic sensors and actuators to perceive changes in the gear and activate your clutch automatically. IMT makes sense for those who are looking to enjoy the total simplicity of an automatic vehicle.
In other words, if you do not like stepping on the clutch pedal several times in traffic , or if you have the habit of your foot on the clutch pedal , but nevertheless enjoy driving with an H-pattern gear shifter, the IMT is the best option to take!
For the time being, Good Auto Deals is only available in Hyundai Kia and Kia automobiles. Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue are the only cars with this configuration of gearbox.

Tata Motors: Toyota, Maruti, Tata Motors and auto giants are stopping production of some models
Mumbai: Come April 1, some of the popular passenger vehicles to run on Indian roads will go missing as auto manufacturers are rationalising the number of vehicles they produce given the high cost of transition to BS-VI variants.
Some of the models to go off the shelf include the Etios, Liva, Corolla Altis from Toyota, KUV100 diesel variant and Bolero Plus from Mahindra, Hexa, Safari Storme, Zest, Bolt and all the older generation cars of Tata Motors, Maruti and Renault diesel cars. While Hyundai has transitioned most of its models to BS-VI, only the Xcent (prime) diesel, which catered to the fleet segment, will be discontinued. Instead, the Korean auto major has launched the Xcent CNG variant for the fleet segment.
Industry executives believe that OEMs would replace the vehicles with newer models and variants. With the clamour for gasoline engines growing, auto companies may look at such products in lieu of diesel-powered vehicles, say experts.
“At Mahindra, we are upgrading most of our current portfolio to BS-VI along with planned new product launches and a couple of limited volume variants that are getting discontinued on account of BS-VI will be replaced with some of our other existing products,” said Veejay Nakra, head of sales & marketing of Mahindra’s automotive division. The Bolero Plus 9 seater people mover and Plus Ambulance will be discontinued. The KUV100 diesel will be discontinued since the XUV300 is the flagship offering in the compact SUV segment. The KUV100 on gasoline and bi-fuel (gasoline-CNG) variants will continue, adds Nakra.
It is, however, no surprise that companies are using the BS-VI transition to quietly retire products which did not perform well in the market . Naveen Soni, Sr VP – sales & service of Toyota Kirloskar confirming the discontinuance of Liva and Etios, said “We always study and evaluate the market, continue to understand customer preferences and trends. This also applies to cases when we have to discontinue an existing model to vacate plant capacity for advanced and better technologies to come in. In order to service the needs of our customers, we are now offering Yaris and Glanza in BS-VI avatar against the discontinued Liva and Etios respectively. Apart from the Etios series, we will also be discontinuing the Corolla Altis, having seen a conscious shift in customer preferences from the C sedan segment to C MPV segment.”
Automobile companies need to see through a prism of commercial viability and the future of the product. Decisions are taken product-wise and the costs involved upgrading the product, said Arun Kumar, ex Nissan India head & auto consultant.
The country’s largest vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, however, seems to be unfazed. Shashank Srivastava, ED, (marketing and sales), said “Maruti is manufacturing BS6 vehicles from end January 2020 and this transition from BS-IV to BS-VI was planned a year in advance. Best-selling mass models such as Alto and Baleno were upgraded with BS-VI petrol engines in April 2019. This was closely followed by WagonR, Swift and Dzire in June 2019 and Ertiga in July 2019, XL6 in August 2019, S-PRESSO in September 2019; Eeco, Celerio, Super Carry, Ciaz in January 2020 and Vitara Brezza, IGNIS in February 2020. We had also announced end of BS-IV diesel vehicles nearly a year in advance so that our customers have an informed choice on fuel type.”
Tata Motors declined to comment. Sources in the know said while Tata Motors will do away with older generation cars, and the focus will be on Nexon, Altroz, Tiago, Tigor, Harrier and the EV segment.
Vendors have also been helping and working towards upgrading variants of petrol, CNG, manual/automatic transmission or AMT to BS-VI. But it has not been an easy journey for suppliers with the challenge of supply parts especially given difficult external conditions.

Tata to launch 12 new cars and SUVs in India by 2023
30th Dec 2019 11:15 am
ALFA and OMEGA platforms to type bedrock of Tata Motors’ new product offensive; petrols, diesels, hybrids and electrics can be a part of the combo.
Tata Motors’ new Altroz isn’t merely its first premium hatchback, it additionally boasts one other first – one that’s much more vital in the grander scheme of issues – it’s the first car off Tata’s all-new ALFA platform. Designed and engineered to ship international ranges of flexibility and native ranges of cost-competitiveness, the new platform began out life because the AMP or Advanced Modular Platform. Slated to be shared with the Volkswagen Group on the time, AMP has at the moment developed into Tata’s first versatile automobile structure, ALFA.
Named ALFA for Agile Light Flexible and Advanced, the new structure will, in mixture with the OMEGA platform (shared with JLR), account for all of Tata’s new cars set to hit the market in the following decade or so. Of the 2 platforms, the ALFA, in fact, could have the lion’s share, and that’s solely proper. Smaller, extra inexpensive and the extra appropriate of the 2 in our low- price setting, it is rather versatile, and, in consequence, may be tailored to make cars of various shapes and sizes.
ALFA structure stretches from 3.7 to 4.3m, provides super flexibility.
But simply what number of cars can we count on? Guenter Butschek, CEO of Tata Motors spells it out: “We will have 12 to 14 new top hats between ALFA and OMEGA in the next 3-4 years”. This is big and it’s doubtless to take Tata’s market protection up massively, to round 90 %.
So what can we glance ahead to? Plans haven’t precisely been firmed up, however you’ll be able to count on the vary to begin with Tata’s H2X or Hornbill, then the new Nexon can be constructed on the ALFA platform, and Tata might even push the bounds of the platform and attempt and do a Creta rival. The latter, nonetheless, is also constructed on a platform shared with Chinese carmaker and JLR accomplice Chery (see under).
Tata lately confirmed a sedan idea that appears prefer it might go up towards the Honda City, and then, logically there must be a compact sedan or Maruti Dzire rival. An Ertiga-sized MPV can also be on the playing cards, and then don’t low cost a spacious Maruti Wagon R-rivalling hatchback both. Of course, afterward, there can be replacements for the Tiago, Tigor and a devoted EV is probably going as nicely.
Tata is probably going to do a compact sedan in addition to a Honda City rival.
Tata says cars constructed on the ALFA platform will stretch between 3.7-4.3m in size, the wheelbase is stretchable to a not-so-insignificant 2,450mm, the entrance and rear monitor may be altered, and ought to engineers and designers select, the cars, SUVs, and MPVs could possibly be as large as 1,800mm too. They are doubtless to have the largest boots in their class, there can be a flat flooring in the rear, and high quality ranges are doubtless to take a giant soar up too, as round 90 % of the cars’ our bodies can be constructed by robots, permitting for excellent precision, and better uniformity of elements.
The Omega platform is much less versatile. The bigger of the 2 and the one shared with Land Rover, it might have not less than three new cars constructed on it. The first would be the seven-seat Gravitas. Then there can be an SUV with a coupé-like roof, and afterward will come the Hexa substitute or a big, Innova-sized MPV. For now, the OMEGA platform has just one diesel, the two.0 Multijet, however Tata is engaged on a bigger 1.5 petrol, and there might even be a mild-hybrid model, although Tata appears to at the moment not be in favour of hybridisation.
The smaller ALFA structure, however, could have all method of powertrains: petrol, diesel, hybrid and electrical. Engines at the moment out there on the Nexon and the Altroz are anticipated to be the mainstay, and there’s a new twin-clutch computerized gearbox in the works too.
To maintain prices down on the ALFA, your complete construction can be cut up into round 15 important modules which may be reused on different high hats with out an excessive amount of further funding. Tata can also be in the method of weeding down the provider chain. Now lastly down to round 300 part makers between each PVs and CVs, from not less than double of that, it can permit Tata to get its new fashions to the market sooner – much less time wasted on taking good care of poor-quality provides.
Leapfrogging and going instantly to a variable structure was truly essential for Tata. “We changed track halfway from doing a more limited platform to a more flexible architecture,” explains Butschek. “Rather than merely have a platform with a restricted vary of high hats, we moved to an structure that’s versatile in size, width, peak, and which lastly goes to give us a excessive diploma of commonality. By doing this we additionally de-risk particular person launches, create huge economies of scale, and, on the similar time, assist leverage the large preliminary funding higher.
BRIDGING THE GAP . . . WITH CHERY
Tata’s Creta-fighter, codenamed ‘Blackbird’, is an SUV in search of a platform. Too small to be constructed on the OMEGA or Harrier platform, and too huge to be constructed on the ALFA structure, it falls in no man’s land. The stumbling block isn’t general size; ALFA may be stretched to 4.3m. The drawback is wheel dimension, or fairly a scarcity of it. Thing is, ALFA is predominantly a small-car structure, and in consequence doesn’t help wheels bigger than 700mm in diameter, key to SUV attraction. To get round the issue, Tata has been speaking with JLR accomplice and Chinese automaker Chery, which has SUVs and platforms that match the outline. Of the numerous, the perfect match is believed to be the 4,338mm-long Tiggo Four or T-17. But is a 5- star NCAP crash-test ranking doable with these underpinnings?
With 90 % market protection now technically doable and an assault of all-new cars on the horizon, Tata Motors could possibly be in for its most profitable part ever. ALFA and OMEGA put collectively actually have loads of promise. We simply might see an all-new and hitherto unrecognisable Tata Motors emerge. Heady instances forward.

The updated version of this vehicle is going to come with a soft-touch dashboard. In addition to this, it will also get leather upholstery. The facelift will also get a jump in terms of onboard features as well.

We are still not sure if the 1.99-litre engine, sold in the Delhi-NCR region will also receive an update or not. Furthermore, it is likely that the lower variants will continue to come with the older spec, 140 BHP engine.

7 Searter SUVs for India 2018
New Post has been published on https://www.autohubindia.com/7-searter-suvs-for-india-2018/
7 Searter SUVs for India 2018
The arrival of Jeep Compass has taken the competition to another level in that segment. Now with four heavyweights in the segment, people have much more choice than ever before and that is a bit confusing. Who should which car from the Tata Hexa, Mahindra XUV 500, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson? We tell you exactly that!
Want 7 seats that can intimidate others on the road?
Mahindra XUV 500
The Mahindra XUV 500 has become quite common on the Indian roads now and still, its toothy grille gives an intimidating image on the rearview mirrors of other vehicles. Even though Tata Hexa is bigger and wider than the XUV 500, it looks more classy. The XUV 500 can sure get people out of the way with its menacing face.
Want reliability with good service network?
Hyundai Tucson
If you are looking for an SUV with reliability and something that will not fail you mid-way through your journey, the Tucson is the best car you can pick. Tucson also gets Hyundai’s service network backup, which is well-spread across the nation. So if you’re someone who loves to be adventurous and goes to remote places, the Tucson can be your best choice.
Want a fast SUV?
Hyundai Tucson
While Jeep Compass is quite quick, the Tucson is seriously fast! The Tucson diesel is a true acceleration king and can do 0-100 km/h in just 9.48 seconds. The Tucson diesel is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 182 Bhp – 400 Nm. It is available with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. The Compass petrol automatic is approximately 1 second slower than the Tucson.
Want a good brand value?
Jeep Compass
If you’re someone who holds high regard for the brand then the Jeep Compass fits the choice. The Jeep is an internationally acclaimed brand and has a cult following. Mahindra is still marking its presence in the international market. The Jeep brand has a lot of heritage attached to it and will put you in a group of high standard car owners if you have one parked in your garage.
Want petrol power?
Jeep Compass
Well, only three SUVs among the four offer petrol options. The Tucson is powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine that generates a maximum of 153 Bhp – 192 Nm. Hyundai offers 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission with this petrol engine. The Jeep Compass is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that generates a maximum power of 160 Bhp and 250 Nm.
Compass petrol comes with either 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 7-speed DCT is seriously quick and much more fun to drive too. Mahindra uses a 2.2-litre petrol engine that is derived from the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The engine is not built from the grounds up and that does not make it as refined as a petrol-powered vehicle should be.
Want the diesel automatic?
Tata Hexa
Jeep is yet to offer an automatic version of the Compass diesel. The Tucson, Hexa and the XUV 500 offer the automatic transmission with the diesel engine option. Among the three, the Hexa diesel is the best one to choose. It gets a highly sophisticated 6-speed transmission that has been sourced from France based brand called Punch Powertrain while shifters have been sourced from ZF. The completely sealed transmission gets Sports mode and is very quick and smooth.
Want a city slicker?
Jeep Compass
While all the four vehicles are quite sorted out on the highways and inside the city limits, the smaller dimensions of the Jeep Compass makes it the best among all to be a city roamer. Most cities are generally overcrowded by traffic and having a small vehicle turns out to be a big advantage. Yes, the Compass is a five-seater but has compact dimensions.
Want a capable SUV?
Tata Hexa and Jeep Compass
None of the vehicles that are being compared gets low ratio transfer case but two of them get various modes that make them more capable than the others. The Jeep Compass gets driving modes (Auto, Snow, Mud, Sand) that make the Compass quite capable. The Compass uses smart features like brake lock, which acts similarly to the differential lock. Whenever the car detects wheel slippage and automatically applies the brake on that wheel while transferring the power to the others.
The Hexa also gets similar Terrain response system that can be cycled between auto, comfort, dynamic or rough road. While the Compass will be more successful than the Hexa on off-road due to its lightweight, the Hexa is more capable than the XUV 500 and the Tucson when it comes to the rough road capability.
Want a good value for money?
Tata Hexa
Tata Hexa is a lot of car for little money. The car offers 10 JBL speaker system, powerful engine, a good automatic transmission, comfortable seats and a long list of safety features like 6-airbags, traction control, ABS with EBD and more. The Hexa is the most affordable choice among the four. The Hexa starts at Rs. 11.85 lakh while the XUV 500 starts at Rs. 12.78 lakh. The base variant of the Compass is priced at Rs. 15.16 lakh while the Tucson comes at a base price of Rs. 18 lakh.
Want a feature rich SUV?
Mahindra XUV 500
The Mahindra XUV 500 gets a very long feature list. To start with, it is the only vehicle among four to get a sunroof. The infotainment system of the XUV 500 gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It can also get connected to a phone through Mahindra BlueSense app and can send driving habits and various other data to the phone directly. The XUV also gets features like Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and many other unique features.
