there are several pokémon games now whose stories have absolutely microwaved my brain (positive). but black and white is really unique in that out of all of them, it feels the most like it had to have been a pokémon game. not even in the sense that it’s my absolute favorite but it’s probably the most creative when it comes to making a compelling plotline out of pokémon-specific game and story assets.
most games feature being a trainer, bonding with pokémon, learning about them and catching them, often times getting up to some insane stuff with the region’s legendaries, etc. pokémon are obviously always present- as characters, tools, or narrative devices- but the core conflict about the game is about something else. those staples of the series were only one possible means by which that sort of story could have been told. you could keep the core characters the same and change details like the method by which they fight each other and it’s the same thing.
in some games, these classic narrative/gameplay tools even sort of clash with and distract from the main conflict. battles that in any other story would be to the death are much like a fun little competition. that’s sort of just an innate thing to the game series’ turn based combat that is obviously based on pokémon, and most games are guilty of it. but there are ways to make it work in-universe, such as really emphasizing how any given pokémon is stronger than any given human and therefore whoever has even a single one of their soldiers left after the battle is holding a weapon against a defenseless target. in any case really it's generally up to the player to suspend their disbelief and allow themselves to get immersed in the aura of danger. but i would really love more games to make battles feel like a threat to the trainer as well… usually it's about trying to scare you off or maybe rob you, at most.
and my true pet peeve… in certain games, you awkwardly take turns between stopping the big bad and collecting gym badges and often even if there’s a story excuse for why you need to go get the badge or whatever, it’s kind of weak. you want to go after the evil team leader but first and foremost you want to become the champion and play with your cute little pets and these different desires rarely come up at the same time. the main antagonist might not even be the final boss; you’re expected to all but forget about them by the time you get to the pokémon league. the story is cool, yet not the point. ok yes this is me vagueing about dppt again listen platinum means the whole entire world to me but it hurt me to wrap up the cyrus plot at seven gym badges and get just a few lines of gratitude from cynthia for it later
but that aside. even in games where there’s no story-gameplay dissonance, where the story might be absolutely one hundred percent golden and the gameplay might be incredibly fun and work perfectly. you at the same time might be like 'wow, this is about pokémon? it didn’t even need to be.' (not to say that’s bad, obviously! people who are here to collect and play with cute creature friends deserve some insane banger plotlines too. the children yearn for existential angst and childhood trauma. i love unique storytelling devices and i hope these games have super cool utterly wild storylines that go way crazier than the child friendly marketing would indicate for the rest of the series.)
but like. black and white is so fascinating in that the core conflict is about being a trainer. it’s about the relationship between humans and pokémon. most games have a couple lines thrown in here and there about how anything is possible if you bond with your pokémon as equals, but this concept is central to black and white. team plasma are such good villains because they’re not another round of unhinged terrorists, they’re a sociopolitical advocacy group that legitimately challenges ways of life that most of the people of unova have never thought critically about. they ask the question of whether these norms and traditions are right and good. it’s like an attack on the whole entire series!
now obviously team plasma is like. wrong.., of course,,, both in terms of what they’re promoting and how they carry it out… but the fact that they make you think. the fact that they start a conversation. the fact that they hold assemblies in public and stand proud and don’t hide and even convince some people… that’s terrifying. their original plan was to rise to power not by force but by changing hearts. and through that they arguably got closer to winning than any other evil team.
and there is absolutely dissonance between the way they talk and the actual gameplay which requires you to pokémon battle them. but this dissonance is intentional. it's proving them to be a bunch of hypocrites who think that they alone know how to treat pokémon right and are therefore justified in training them. and it's meant to be obvious that behind the scenes (not even truly in secret, just like anywhere on any path outside of the big towns and cities) they are abusive bullies. but though the player can figure out what kind of people they really are right off the bat, most of unova might not. either news of the sorts of theft and threatening they do travels slowly, or certain people are being manipulated and swayed into believing it really was for the greater good. truly team plasma has a level of power that no other evil team has ever had.
then there's n.... n knows it feels wrong and hypocritical but he doesn't know any other way. or perhaps he also justifies it to himself by saying it's fine as long as he lets them go afterwards (which is, ironically, arguably even more like using them as tools for an intended purpose than properly being their trainer.) but after chargestone cave he commits to what he believes in and swears he won't battle again other than in the few cases it's absolutely necessary for his goal.
and of course. the way he's also trying to become the champion, the way interrupts your journey through the pokémon league, is so iconic. but he did tell you that quite early on. 'I need power... Power enough to make anyone agree with me.' and then 'I'll defeat the Champion and become unbeatable, unlike any other! I'll make all Trainers free their Pokémon! Just try and stop me! If you want to be together with Pokémon, your only hope is to collect the Badges from each area and head for the Pokémon League! Try and stop me there, if you dare! If your conviction is not strong enough, you will never be able to defeat me.' you see how neat that is? see how narratively awesome and efficient it is to give the player yet another, more serious reason to do the gym circuit? it's one of your personal dreams, like those of your friendly rivals. but now you have a not so friendly rival. not in the sense that he's some neighborhood jerk but in the sense that he's a madman running for public office.
but seriously, it's very important to me that they broke the tradition of the region's official champion being the final boss. they show you the league in all its glory as usual, and then make a big deal out of having team plasma show up and summon a whole entire castle that absolutely disrupts everything. they made it loud and clear that they knew what they were doing as far as breaking tradition. they said 'i know entering the hall of fame is very cool and important to you, and maybe you can do that later, but we have bigger problems right now.' alder is no idiot. he just got defeated! sure he could heal up with some revives and hyper potions but let's get real, he's in no mood to fight you, and it would be irresponsible for both of you to battle at a time like this.
like. now n has all the accolades he needs to set himself up as some sort of god king that no one would dare argue with, and basically the evil new york branch of peta just won the election by a landslide and took over all three branches of the government, and that's sort of a problem maybe. sure they aren't killing anyone or destroying the world (yet) but. they are a much more realistic type of threat. it wouldn't matter if alder was the coolest champion in the series (and i do like the guy as a character); i would not have been able to care even a tiny bit if we had battled him at that moment. and i would have been actively frustrated and let down if we had gotten to battle him after the epic climax of the plot and n's heartbreaking farewell. it was a very unique creative risk to save the championship for postgame, but it worked out so well.
but see like! when n does battle you it's not even because he actually wants to win. every single time, he wants to battle you because he wants to get to know you and to understand the strength (and accuracy) of your convictions. from the very first fight in accumula town to the grand showdown between the two of you. n never wanted victory. he wanted truth. he wanted righteousness. and slowly he learns that he wasn't the one who had either of those. his external journey was a facade for his inner one, which he can only bear to admit to you after everything has unfolded and he's finally safe and free from ghetsis and team plasma.
that's all to say, when it comes to him, pokémon battling is the only appropriate gameplay mechanic by which you ought to interact with him. unlike other antagonists he's not fighting to tell you to get lost, or to rob you, or to kill you, etc. he specifically needs to hear the voices of your pokémon in battle to realize you are a good and kind trainer and that he was lied to about battling. this specific conflict wouldn't work in another piece of media. of course, a more general theme of having been lied to about truth or justice could be done, but black and white specifically wants to talk about the ethics of pokémon training itself (to which there really isn't a real-world equivalent, since making animals fight is usually either rare and specific, or outright illegal. as far as i know. it’s definitely not a public sport that children are encouraged to participate in. and we don't have pokéballs so we can't verify irl how comfortable and fun it is to be digitized and put in a machine. it's probably fun for them but idk.) and that's so fascinating.
now of course, ghetsis is a more typical antagonist who actually wants you gone. dead, even. but for him, i think a pokémon battle as a final conflict still works. for one, they don't overuse it. in lots of cases, you battle evil team leaders or their admins multiple times- the majority of those times being an attempt simply to get you to stand down. when they finally 'get serious', sure the battle may be harder later on, but you're still doing the exact thing you were before. and like. you probably expected this, right?
ghetsis, however, doesn't even seem like a pokémon trainer at all until the very last second. it doesn't take you too long to figure out he's rancid and a manipulator, and that team plasma is trying to capture pokémon in order to have a monopoly over unova, but for all you know, he really might not use any pokémon himself. maybe only the king and the grunts do the whole battling thing but it's the sages' job to just walk around and say cryptic poetic things. and then. boom. he whips out a full killer team of six. he goes from 0 to 60 real fast. you've had zero experience with battling him thus far and therefore have absolutely no idea what he's packing and it's scary.
and of course, how could i not talk about his actual team? his infamous ace is a few levels too low to be a legitimate hydreigon, implying something fishy or forced. and in the sequel it's got frustration in its moveset, executed at maximum power- first of all, what kind of sicko even runs that move in the first place? unless you're like. working with buneary or otherwise doing something really specific. and what kind of sicko is so abusive to their pokémon that they lower its base friendship from 35 to 0? of course, that's a rather low base friendship value to begin with. but see, with this entire evolutionary line being vicious in its lore, you'd think it would be perfect for a guy like ghetsis, right? they're both brutal and also irrational- being geniuses, and yet knowing nothing but destruction. hydreigon is a killing machine and ghetsis flies into a genuine insane rage upon losing. point being you'd think they'd have fun together. we've seen villains legitimately bond with their pokémon before. but instead they're two toxic haters that don't mesh. ghetsis is so evil even his own partner hates him. and he delights in that and actively chooses to benefit from it via the use of a particular move. ugh i love when pokémon battles subtly say something about trainer npcs through gameplay mechanics...
also did i mention he's trying to Kill You. other villains are probably fine with doing that if necessary but scaring you off or taking away all your pokémon would also work. ghetsis implies that he specifically needs you dead because you know the ugly truth, and that knowledge makes that battle a lot more chilling than usual. that is a case of a true pokémon battle to the death. it doesn't feel cheap or like a relatively casual competition there, it's not a fight where either side is trying to prove anything, etc. and you can tell his bloodlust was genuine because he does not give up or admit defeat. he tries to murder the next protagonist too and goes to even more extreme measures that time.
ghetsis is using his pokémon as weapons against you because they're the most efficient way to murder you. that's all he wants. and you can tell he needs them because purely visually you can see he's gotta be kind of an old man with at least two physical disabilities, and he's not really dressed for physical activity- he's dressed like a big shot noble (or thinks he is. that fit is so ugly) who could never get his own hands dirty. and thematically it's perfect for the big bad leader of all hypocrites to use pokémon as tools, as opposed to any other type of weapon. like he could go get a gun or something if this was rated higher, but i think the sicko probably delights specifically in lording power over his tormented pokémon, if choosing to run frustration on hydreigon when there are probably better move options available means anything. i think he'd choose this means of battle in any universe he could.
in conclusion! the generation 5 games, more than any other games, absolutely needed to be pokémon games in order for the story to work. they closely examine fascinating aspects of the pokémon universe that are otherwise taken for granted. they seamlessly merge the goal of travelling and working to become the champion, and the goal of stopping the villains, instead of having these be awkwardly separate storylines. the gameplay is relevant to all three tiers of antagonist- grunts, main antagonist, and true mastermind villain- in different ways. i would love for another set of pokémon games to have such a focused, unified plotline that also feels relevant to the overall series. very swagful. something something mic drop

(This is the longest hc i did I kind of digressed half way through)
My latest Rykard hc is that he is the eldest child and 'parent' between the 3 carian demigods. Everything bearing his name exudes this kind of ‘posh' 'sophisticated’ 'I will have you know-' sass you’d expect from an inquisitor-coded demigod of noble blood/one who, mind you, lives in a manor perched atop a live . f u c k i n g . VOLCANO with a crazy snake god in basement (What's with the lands between and weird basements?), I feel safe in asserting that this symbolically reflected his day-to-day persona as well: profanely hot, rich, powerful but nauseatingly prideful blonde male always a second away from hissing lava at 'haters'. He veils his barely concealed madness with an educated taste that screams refinement, if only to drown out the tortured Albinaurics screaming from his torture dungeons (or 'interrogation chambers' to the more sensibly inclined). He also seems like the type to be overbearing (his job is literally being a medieval glorified fantasy cop) and I find it difficult to imagine that some of that pride and sass didn't seep into his family dynamics.
But still, it is evident that he is a man who deeply cares for his family. Radahn's portrait nicely hung (aw), offering Tanith dementia in a bottle so she can forget her soon to be big back snake husband(aw), plotting with Ranni to kill Godwyn (aw)( common close siblings activity).
Mix love for family with his love of power, his love of prestige , of ambition. Spice up his lore with absentee divorced mother, absentee divorced TRAITOR AND ASSHOLE father and the deep turbulent hatred he simmers within himself...you get, the eldest child with fried brain matter

Close enough

I haven't forgotten the war automatons he created and named 'Abductor Virgins' Definitely cooked in the head but...some of them are found in raya lucaria 🥺 and in caelid 🥺
Being the “I fuck my retainers” bisexual is just the cherry on top.
Tumblr media
I mean look at this guy 💀 Too much doesn't exist in his vocabulary lmao also y tf does he have chandeliers in his boss room 😭talk about being extra for the sake of it (Banger Villain staple)
Before we conclude this earth-shattering and momentous piece of scientific inquiry, it is only fitting that we take a moment to review the distinguished list of intimate companions he deigned to keep in close company. As the old adage goes: birds of a feather flock together. Let us now examine those whom he permitted to remain by his side, each a mirror in some fashion, of the man himself.
Tanith:
Consort's robe.
Fine robe of white silk worn by Tanith, Lady of the Volcano Manor. Long ago, when Rykard first set eyes on Tanith, she was working as a dancer in a foreign land. Soon, he made her his consort. She was the only human to remain by his side when he became the serpent of blasphemy.
In that moment, Tanith was truly charmed by him.
Daedicar(retconned to being Rya's mother) now Ghiza
Daedicar's woe(Version 1.00):
Disturbing likeness of an old noble whose skin was flayed. He smiles with a serene tenderness. Increases damage taken.
This soft-featured man's name was Daedicar, and he was one of Captain Rykard's paramours, as well an attendant in his Inquisition.
He would test new methods of torture first upon himself, making a gift of his pain and first-hand knowledge to the one he loved.
Also Serpent Eigley (????)(snake babies???)
Let Eigley eat him (verbatim no exaggeration)
Must I say more?
-----
In retrospect, Morgott's beef with him makes so much sense. Not just a clash of ideologies but also character.
Morgott: Loyal to erdtree and order, Humble, tree slave bound by shame and sense of duty, trying to maintain the status quo, weighed by grief twisted into self loathing, extinguishes flames of ambition
Rykard: not loyal to erdtree and order, not very humble, Aspiring slave not bound by any sense of shame or duty, trying to usurp the status quo, weighed by grief twisted into world loathing, Giant snake man
Tldr: hc is that Rykard is a snarky eldest sibling who had to fill in the gaps for TWO absent parents . (This is what having Mommy AND Daddy issues does to a man 🙏Pray for this individual). He needs therapy. But in the lands between...who doesn't?

i love it when you get sustantiatedly bitchy about things that don't really matter like ships, so i'd love you to talk about some of the ones you feel most strongly about, but tbh now i am also curious what you DO see
strongly tempted to put "i love it when you get substantiatedly bitchy about things that don't really matter" in my bio 👍🏻
anyway i feel like most of my examples are honestly not down to anything wrong with that particular ship but moreso overall trends in f1blr shipping (and i think i have set forward this exact thesis before so apologies for repeating myself but i love getting bitchy as much as you love to read it so i will yap about it again 😁) so it's probably more productive for me to just moan about those. perhaps with examples. just to swing the bat at the hornets' nest a little bit harder
in my opinion all of these trends are also interconnected - although they may at first seem contradictory - and feed into and amplify each other's respective flaws to create one big mess of mediocre shipping
trend one: trying to make fetch (yaoi) happen for every combo of teammates, rivals, drivers who came up through feeder series together regardless of if there is any chemistry or even anything remotely interesting about the dynamic
trend two: when there is no chemistry or canonically compelling feature to a certain combo, instead of doing the tried and true crackship method of getting a bit silly with it and going "hey would this be fucked up/funny/sexy/cute or what" everythingggg has to be about overwrought tinhat soulmateism, which is what makes trend one so exhausting. you can't be telling me you actually think every single teammate combo on the grid are actually star crossed lovers with abundant genuine and compelling yaoi fodder. it's not possible
trend three: everyone on here has the attention span and object permanence of a six month old cocomelon addict and so instead of respecting and sticking to the genuinely fantastic "vintage" (read: they were teammates/friends 2-5 years ago and don't interact as much publicly anymore) ships that exist for several drivers the overwhelming trend is for people to flock to the next big thing (read: whatever two drivers are standing next to each other for this season). it's kind of like migratory slash fandom but it's even weirder because it's happening all within one fandom, and half the time you're abandoning a genuinely good fun interesting ship for something that fits trends one & two and is therefore, to me, a bit shit
anyway examples of ships i just don't really Get for one or more of the above reasons include: a lot of contemporary lando ships (i'm not actually saying this because i'm a lando hater on track. when it comes to yaoi i do not discriminate and i think carlando is an all time banger f1 rpf staple. which is why i'm baffled by so many people acting like landoscar is anywhere near a worthy replacement); certain other teammate ships like britcedes, alex/logan (🕊️), zhou/bottas; even (please don't kill me) lestappen to an extent which i don't mind and have even written multiple fics for but i think people are taylor swift easter egging it a bit too hard at this point
on the other hand some of the ships i DO still like and Get include: strollonso (genuinely top ship to me at this point, peak contemporary teammate ship), piarles (idk if this has fallen victim to the Vintage Ship issue as much as i think or if i just perceive it that way bc half the pierre blogs on here have me blocked), some maxiel (lowkey prefer it when treated as a Vintage Ship as opposed to trying very hard to prove it's still alive and kicking today), carlando as already mentioned, whatever was going on between lando and max fewtrell and their possibly shared girlfriend a couple of years back, charlos (another strong contemporary teammate ship), sebmark, and of course my beautiful iconic eternal brocedes. OH and max/gp 😜

So, @lysistra was nice enough to tag me to name four albums I’ve been listening to intensively in recent weeks (thank you!). It was a tough decision and I literally lost sleep over this, so everyone please be nice to me or I’ll never do this again.
And they are:
Tumblr media
#1: Sweeping Promises: Good Living Is Coming For You. Their debut, Hunger For A Way Out, was an essential Pandemic Autumn jam and I was drawn to it because of the d.i.y.-ethos album cover. I listened to that album the most out of any others that season. Now this came out with very little heads-up and I reached for it immediately, effectively taking me back to those Pandemic feels. They stuck with the same post-punk-driven, Pylon-influenced formula and these ten songs come with a slightly dirty, muddy splash in their production values. There’s a few new tricks that vocalist Lira Mondal has tried out and they show. They’ve also retained that d.i.y. method of creating records throughout all of their projects and their entire discography. Still not enough? There’s the orphaned single “Pain Without A Touch” and their other just-as-awesome project Splitting Image. And look at this CMYK artwork?!
Tumblr media
#2: Free Love: Luxury Hits. I’m elated to say that I’m the only one here amongst my mutuals who know about this Scottish electronic duo, and that started with Apero, a record that stamps my move into my current residency. Formerly Happy Meals (because they can’t be bothered naming themselves after cancerous toxicity), this married couple have that magic touch in their sound that no one else has. They have such a special soul that could take you to another world; one that could’ve possibly existed but per chance could be a reality. Luxury Hits contain two personal favorites / footnotes of mine: “Tomorrow Could Be Heaven”, one denoting an Autumn Sunday trip out to Greenpoint, and “Pushing Too Hard”, part of a soundtrack to a colorful and vivid but complicated Summer. The latter is a charmer thanks to Suzanne Rodden’s charismatic vocals, and any release of theirs is super high-resolution, sweet colors, and lush sounds. I still hope to keep Free Love as a personal gem only I can have to myself. Maybe not after you see this.
Tumblr media
#3: Kontravoid: Too Deep. Whenever I’m not blasting hardcore music while busting my ass at the gym, I turn to synthwave instead. After hearing the electrically-charged sounds of Kontravoid, I’m becoming more a fan. This all started when Boy Harsher featured Kontra's-“Maskerade” on a one-and-done post and the rest was game over. The original full-length has some severe high-voltage bangers (“Turn Away”, “So It Seems v.2”) and some superior anthems included (“Too Deep”, “Cost Of Life”). If you’re headed for the remix album, go on right to Fractions’ version of “So It Seems”, then tell me that you didn’t lose your shit over it because it’s that crazy.
Tumblr media
#4: Black Marble: A Different Arrangement. It’s Summer, and you know what that means: it’s time to reach for the record that one of my fellow dee-jays opened my eyes to. Black Marble gives me a elevated feeling of superiority thanks to not only its art direction but also its frigid beats and moderately warm but lush-as-heaven synth work. Chris Stewart’s project is so good that I saw them twice: one at Brooklyn’s Warsaw opening for Cold Cave, and closing out Sacred Bones’ 15th at Queens’ Knockout Center. Both amazing experiences. Bonus points for its’ Eighties sentiment which reminds me of Dead Or Alive’s “Brand New Lover”, and double that for being the soundtrack of me moving into a new neighborhood.
And…because I can’t settle for four albums, I’ll throw in a bonus:
Tumblr media
#5: SpaceGhostPurrp: IntoXXXicated. Holy shit. Talk about a venomous Naga-grade pit-viper of a rap release. This has to be the most exotic bars mixtape I ever heard. If you’re looking for a good drugs, money, and sex record? Well...then here it is! It’s super hot.
This time, I will tag: @sibelin, @charliemonroe, @kate2, @tewzz, @aleprouswitch, @sheisthesisterofnight, @restwaerme, @misterwhirly, @maldoror-est-mort, @sclr, @justmakesuresheeatsthemouse, @chickenshit-conformist, @urban-hieroglyphs, @iamdangerace, @the-land-of-rape-and-honey, @testure-1988, @rivetgoth, @theonlycure, @sweetness-doesnt-touch-my-face and anyone else who wants to play.

Dirty Pair
ダーチィペア
(Anime)
Sci-fi comedy by Haruka Takachiko
Era: 1980s
Rating: A
Plot: In the 22nd century humanity has expanded through the galaxy, and to help the people with any problem they have, for a price the World Welfare Works Association will send trouble consultants. Kei and Yuri are one such team, codenamed the Lovely Angels, but their propensity to make every situation far worse before successfully completing their assignment earns them another nickname for which they're (in)famous across the galaxy - the Dirty Pair.
Length: 24 episodes, 4 OVA, 1 movie
Thoughts: Ah, one of the first shows I decided to watch on this journey back to anime, only because I recalled from the early 2010s one eyecatcher being used in one of Smash TVs 80s/90s VJ nostalgia fests, and thinking to myself "hah, girls with guns who look like wrestlers, sounds fun". It's probably hard to be more right about something without knowing anything about it.
On the rewatch for this, it really holds up well - their clashing personalities really pop, the assignments are very varied even when they mostly end the same way (something big exploding), we have fugitive hunts, sensitive deliveries, a ultra-smart mouse taking control of the 3WA HQ, treasure hunts, an investigation to a pod that crashed into a mansion and, uh "killed" one of the occupants while knowing they did it... after all, as it says on the OP, "I will solve any problem for you". There are no big arcs (and it is quite short for such a beloved 80s show), and there's no continuity, just one story spanning two episodes, so it can be something to watch little by little. Also helps it keeps a limited cast - outside Kei and Yuri the only recurrent characters are Mughi, their genetically engineered intelligent giant cat/bear, the ship robot Nanmo, and Gooley, their supervisor, always suffering at the ends of their methods but reliant and confident on their skills. It is also a very stylish show, from mechanical design having a lot of varied futuristic vehicles (very informed by prototype cars of the era) and solid character design to music (still bummed I never found a score with the action scene sax music), everything here scores big in that aspect. All things considered, it's a staple of 80s sci-fi anime, and it's not hard to see why.
On to the OVAs, the first, With Love from the Lovely Angels are simply two unaired episodes, and everything said applies. The second, Affair of Nolandia is an hour long episode about a missing girl with powerful psychic powers. It features a slightly different character design and a more serious tone, but... nothing here is particularly great. The animation isn't the bump you'd expect, and the more serious tone kinda takes a lot of what made the show great (if you want individual ratings, C). It was followed by the feature length Project Eden, where we go back to form with great animation and closer in looks and feel to the TV show with a story of an sabotage investigation on a mining planet where the mineral that makes galactic travel possible is found, this being the ideal point of entry for anyone new to the series (A), and later by Dirty Pair 2, which adds 10 new episodes at the same level as the TV show once again, which feels just a bit underwhelming, but hey, more Kei and Yuri (B), and finally Flight 005 Conspiracy, another hour long OVA, only this time it looks like one, and while the story (dual investigation of a spaceship crash and the disappearance of a scientist) becomes a lot more serious as it goes along, it manages to be a far more entertaining watch than Nolandia (B). There was also Dirty Pair Flash but that's something for other time and not covered in this post.
Recommended to: want to see girls with guns exploding everything around them?
Plus:
OP/ED of the TV show by Meiko Nakahara, bangers. The score by Toshiyuki Kimori has a great early 80s synth and space disco feel to it.
Balances the action and humour pretty well
Might go a bit off-model here and there, but the action is pretty solid.
Minus:
It IS quite short for such a beloved show even to this day. Made rewatching it a breeze, but...

🟢 DJ Premier and Royce Da 5'9' are one of the illest combos in hip hop. When you talk about lyrical skill paired with top-tier production, this duo stands out. DJ Premier, the legendary producer known for his classic boom-bap sound, and Royce Da 5'9', the Detroit-bred lyricist with a razor-sharp flow, have been collaborating for years. Their chemistry in the booth has birthed some of the dopest tracks in the underground and mainstream scene. This partnership, officially known as PRhyme, brought back that raw, gritty sound that many thought was missing from the game.
🟢 Premier, who came up as one half of Gang Starr, has always been known for his signature chopped-up samples and hard-hitting drums. He's produced for legends like Nas, Jay-Z, and Biggie, but his work with Royce hit different. Royce, on the other hand, has been in the game for over two decades, holding his own alongside heavyweights like Eminem, Slaughterhouse, and Bad Meets Evil. The respect he commands as an elite MC is evident when he teams up with Preemo.
🟢 Their first PRhyme project dropped in 2014, and it was a breath of fresh air for the culture. Premier ditched his usual method of sampling from vinyl records and instead used the music of producer Adrian Younge as the sole source for his samples. This change added a unique twist to his production, while Royce’s bars were sharper than ever. Tracks like "PRhyme" and "Courtesy" showcased their chemistry, with Royce spitting conscious, streetwise lyrics over Preemo's immaculate beats.
🟢 After the success of their debut, PRhyme 2 came out in 2018, continuing their legacy of dropping heat. Royce was at the top of his lyrical game, spitting thought-provoking bars about life, fame, and the state of the culture. DJ Premier’s production remained unmatched, proving that his sound could evolve while still staying true to his roots. PRhyme 2 had bangers like "Era" featuring Dave East and "Flirt" featuring 2 Chainz, showing they could blend street wisdom with commercial appeal without selling out.
🟢 Outside of PRhyme, DJ Premier and Royce have linked up on several occasions over the years. Royce appeared on Gang Starr’s final album, *One of the Best Yet*, in 2019, with the track "What's Real." This track was a testament to their long-lasting relationship, showing that their chemistry hadn’t faded, even after years of working together.

exploiting ADHD like a buggy feature in a game
I've realized some things about adhd, specifically how I can exploit certain things like impulsivity and hyperactivity to benefit me in specific ways.
All of my (2) posts? Purely driven by the insane amounts of manic energy I get at 1am after my meds have worn off. Also posting is scary, but the second point makes it possible to post
The way that I can stop over thinking and actually enjoy conversation? Telling my brain "fucking stop" and it being like "no, actually, sure, you're probably right"
and this morning, I have something even better
I've been trying to fix my sleep schedule, and my chosen method is to bully my body into being tired earlier by waking up on as much sleep was given to me (waking up to an alarm at 7am and dealing with the consequences of staying up till 4am). Normally an impossible task, something only possible if one is a deity of some kind
but not today, no, today I could do it. My proof?
Tumblr media
boom, undeniable proof (just noticed how fucking long my ramble is, and I haven't gotten to the point I wanted to share lol)
The way that I did it was that, as soon as I woke up, I realized that the song I had in my head was perfect for waking up. The song was C:\AM#N_C0RE, and the only way I can describe it is manic adhd energy but in music form. My brain, with less than 3 hours of sleep was like "Fuck this is such a banger that I gotta listen to it" and so I was up at 7:04 head banging as my mind tried to keep up with the drums, flailing my hands around as my flesh prison tried to keep up with the energy of the song and soul, you know what I'm talking about?
youtube
The other part that adhd plays in me being able to do superhuman feats of waking up and functioning is that I have stimulant meds, that means that I do not feel tired during the day when I pull shit like this
Also for all of those people that are going "Well, I can also run perfectly off 3 hours of sleep, and I don't have adhd", quiet. Please let me be proud of waking up using my chaos disorder

There’s nothing like a good collaboration with mcs that really gets the fans excited
There are some posse cuts that are undeniable.
We all know "The Symphony" and "Buddy." And who doesn't love the star-making turn Nas gave us on "Live At the BBQ" or Busta's scene-stealing verse from "Scenario?" And there are posse cuts that may not be as inescapable as those tracks, but are just as noteworthy. The one-upmanship of "Don't Curse." The camaraderie of "Watch For The Hook." So many others that deserve way more love that don't get discussed as much as the go-to tracks.
But what is a posse cut? In this day and age of constant collaboration, the thought of several emcees hopping on a track together may seem routine. But a posse cut is when a corp of rappers team up and take turns showcasing their skills on the mic. For the purposes of this list, we're gonna stick to songs that feature at least four emcees (sorry "I Wanna Be Down" remix) and couldn't be group cuts like "Triumph" by Wu-Tang Clan.
But here are songs that we think you might wanna check out, if you love hearing emcees bringing out the best in each other over a dope track.
#26
"VIBIN'" (REMIX) - BOYZ II MEN FEAT. CRAIG MACK, TREACH, BUSTA RHYMES, METHOD MAN [BONUS SONG]
Our BONUS SONG is a celebrated guest spot! Or in this case--four emcees taking over for the harmonizing Philly quartet.
#25
"DA LADIES IN THE HOUSE" - BIG KAP FEAT. U-NEEK, PRECISE, LAURYN HILL, BAHAMADIA
This track from Big Kap may have had quite the on-the-nose title (and very 90s spelling: "Da?"), but it's one of the most underrated posse cuts of all time. Shout-out to Precise and Uneek, Bahamadia and the one they call "L," who shows up and shows out in this early (Pre-THE SCORE, that is) appearance.
#24
"DUSTED N DISGUSTED" - E-40 FEAT. MAC MALL, 2PAC, SPICE-1
Everyone came with heat, and in the video they held it down for 2Pac, who was incarcerated. The Bay Area represented to the fullest on this classic from 40 Fonzarelli.
#23
"1 TRAIN" - A$AP ROCKY FEAT. BIG K.R.I.T., YELAWOLF, DANNY BROWN, KENDRICK LAMAR, ACTION BRONSON
An impressive lineup of 2010s emcees go bar-for-bar on this banger from LONG.LIVE.A$AP. Hit-Boy produced this track with the intention of capturing a 1990s East Coast underground feel. Mission accomplished.

#22
"GOT MY MIND MADE UP" - 2PAC FEAT. THA DOGG POUND, METHOD MAN, REDMAN
A great lyrical showcase that debunks the East-vs-West mythology of 1996; this is lyricism at it's finest. And 2Pac quotes Run-D.M.C. and Rakim for good measure, just to remind everyone he was as Hip-Hop as anyone.
#21
"SYMPHONY 2000" - EPMD FEAT. REDMAN, METHOD MAN, LADY LUCK
We could not talk about great posse cuts that deserve more love and not mention this heat rock from the Def Squad/Hit Squad crew. Everybody snaps the fuck out on this track. And it'll make you wish we heard way more from Lady Luck.
#20
"WATCH FOR THE HOOK" - COOL BREEZE FEAT. OUTKAST, WITCHDOCTOR, GOODIE MOB
The Dungeon Family was at the peak of its powers when Witchdoctor, the members of Goodie Mob and OutKast teamed up with Cool Breeze for this anthem. Highlighting a handful of the greatest emcees in Atlanta rap history, it helped solidify the talent throughout the crew and still has one of the coolest videos of the 1990s.
#19
"24 HRS TO LIVE" - MA$E FEAT. DMX, BLACK ROB, THE LOX
Ma$e became one of the biggest rap stars of the late 1990s on the strength of slick pop hits, but this classic was one of the grimier moments on the multiplatinum-selling Harlem World and features a star-making appearance from Dark Man X.
#18
"MAKE 'EM SAY UGH" - MASTER P FEAT. FIEND, MYSTIKAL, SILKK THE SHOCKER, MIA X
New Orleans rap stormed the mainstream in 1997, and this anthem from Master P's GHETTO D album was the rallying call. No Limit smashed through and showcased some of the brightest stars on the label, with Mia X, Fiend and Mystikal ripping the track to shreds.
#17
"JOHN BLAZE" - FAT JOE FEAT. NAS, RAEKWON, BIG PUN, JADAKISS
You can feel the respect in the room. These are all emcees who hold each other in the highest esteem and they bring the best out of each other here. Pure late 1990s Mafioso rap greatness, all on one track.
#16
"STRANDED ON DEATH ROW" - DR. DRE W/SNOOP DOGGY DOGG, KURUPT, LADY OF RAGE, RBX
It may seem contradictory to act like any track on one of the most famous rap albums of all time is something you might've slept on, but seriously-- why don't we talk more about how great the album closing Death Row call-to-arms is here? And there' a Bushwick Bill cameo!
#15
"I SHOT YA" (REMIX) - LL COOL J FEAT. KEITH MURRAY, FAT JOE, PRODIGY, FOXY BROWN
It may suffer in the shadow of a hit single like "4,3,2,1," but we can't front on LL's grimy, gritty group shot from 1995. Featuring one of his most bombastic verses, a straight up classic by Prodigy, and a star turn from Foxy Brown, it reminded everyone (once again) that LL can go hardcore with the best of 'em.
#14
"MONSTER" - KANYE WEST FEAT. NICKI MINAJ, RICK ROSS, JAY-Z
Kanye flew his collaborators to Hawaii to record this standout from MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY, and Nicki Minaj's hyperkinetic verse absolutely steals the show. The controversial Jake Nava-directed music video remains one of Kanye's most memorable.
#13
"BANNED FROM TV" - N.O.R.E. FEAT. JADAKISS, STYLES P, BIG PUN, CAM'RON, NATURE
Swizz Beatz was a new producer when he laced N.O.R.E. with this anthemic beat and six hungry wordsmiths let loose on it. It's an anthem that sounds of its era—and we mean that in the BEST way.
#12
"RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE" - THE FUGEES W/A TRIBE CALLED QUEST, JOHN FORTE, BUSTA RHYMES
Over one of Clef's best productions, these legendary crews repped from Native Tongues and the Refugee Camp while singing the praises of none other than Muhammad Ali. It's the Blackest, dopest shit you've ever heard. Is it the most underrated posse cut of all time? We think so.
#11
"DON'T CURSE" HEAVY D & THE BOYZ FEAT. PETE ROCK & CL SMOOTH, Q-TIP, KOOL G RAP, BIG DADDY KANE
Heavy D knew that he was every grandmother's favorite rapper and decided to poke fun with that image (and with the idea of censorship) while recruiting some fellow legends to do it. It's a wonderfully tongue-in-cheek moment that showcases real camaraderie, over a sick Booker T. & The M.G.'s flip.
#10
"STAY FLY" - THREE SIX MAFIA FEAT. EIGHTBALL & MJG, YOUNG BUCK
Legends gon' legend. It's a victory lap for some titans of Memphis rap. Call it a "crossover" hit all you want, some songs are just dope. And this is one of 'em.
#9
"4, 3, 2, 1" - LL COOL J FEAT. REDMAN, METHOD MAN, CANIBUS, MASTER P, DMX
The song that launched one of the most infamous beefs in rap history, it's almost taken for granted that it's also one of the dopest posse cuts of all time. Erick Sermon provides the beat, as a handful of rap icons do their thing.
#8
"NOT TONIGHT" (LADIES NIGHT REMIX) - LIL KIM FEAT. ANGIE MARTINEZ, MISSY ELLIOTT, LEFT EYE, DA BRAT
Hip-Hop had precious few all-star female posse cuts when Lil Kim tapped four fierce emcees for this girls-night-out classic. An iconic performance at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards cemented it as a rap standard.
#7
"LIVE AT THE BBQ" - MAIN SOURCE FEAT. NAS, JOE FATAL, AKINYELE
The legendary track from CRITICAL BEATDOWN is famous for announcing a pair of newcomers named Akinyele and Nas, but let's not forget that "...BBQ" is also just a blazing posse cut that captures the round robin energy of friends freestyling in the basement.
#6
"I GOT 5 ON IT" (REMIX) - THE LUNIZ FEAT. DRU DOWN, E-40, SHOCK G, RICHIE RICH, SPICE-1
Some shit you just have to do. Whether this is an widely hailed classic or woefully slept on masterpiece might depend on where you grew up, but we weren't going to do this list and just not mention this Bay Area roll call. It's just all NoCal love, and it's just as cool today as it was 25 years ago.
#5
"FLAVA IN YA EAR" (REMIX) - CRAIG MACK FEAT. THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G., RAMPAGE, LL COOL J, BUSTA RHYMES
The song that really let the world that Bad Boy had arrived. Craig Mack's original single was a hit, but it was subsequently overshadowed by this classic. Fans can recite everybody's verse on this one.
#4
"BUDDY" - DE LA SOUL FEAT. JUNGLE BROTHERS, Q-TIP, MONIE LOVE, QUEEN LATIFAH
The Native Tongues were already earning a reputation for outside-the-box creativity when De La Soul dropped this D.A.I.S.Y. Age ode to coitus. It's so freewheeling and whimsical that you might not notice how naughty it is; but the vibe stays breezy.
#3
"INTL PLAYERS ANTHEM (I CHOOSE YOU)" - UGK FEAT. OUTKAST
It's a song that has come to epitomize rappers gettin' grown. After years of songs about being playas and pimps, two of the South's most iconic acts gave the Dirty an ode to matrimony. Produced by DJ Paul of Three Six Mafia, the ceremony begins with an uber-classic verse from André 3000, and Big Boi, Bun B and Pimp C do the rest from there. Three Six joins in on the remix.
#2
"SCENARIO" - A TRIBE CALLED QUEST FEAT. LEADERS OF THE NEW SCHOOL
Widely considered one of the greatest posse cuts of all time,  “Scenario,” which was the third single from "The Low End Theory,"  also served as a launchpad for Busta Rhyme’s solo career.
#1
"SYMPHONY" - MARLEY MARL W/BIG DADDY KANE, CRAIG G, KOOL G RAP, MASTA ACE
Marley put together Hip-Hop's Avengers for this Juice Crew-defining cut. Indisputably one of the greatest rap tracks ever, and a posse cuttour de force, this is one of Marley's masterpieces.

The Ultimate Guide to Dab Rigs: A Comprehensive Overview
Introduction
In the world of cannabis consumption, dab rigs have emerged as a popular and efficient method for enjoying concentrates. This comprehensive guide will delve into the intricacies of dab rigs, covering everything from their definition and components to the various types available and how to use them effectively. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced dabber, this article will provide valuable insights to enhance your dabbing experience.
What is a Dab Rig?
A dab rig, also known as an oil rig, is a specialized water pipe designed for vaporizing cannabis concentrates such as wax, shatter, or resin. Unlike traditional bongs that combust cannabis flower, dab rigs use a heated surface, typically a nail or banger, to vaporize the concentrate. The vapor then passes through water for filtration, resulting in a smoother, more flavorful hit.
Key Components of a Dab Rig
Rig Body: The main structure of the dab rig, which holds the water for filtration.
Nail or Banger: The surface where concentrates are heated. Nails are usually made from titanium, quartz, or ceramic. Bangers are similar to nails but are designed to hold larger amounts of concentrate.
Dome (optional): A glass cover that captures the vapor for better inhalation.
Torch or E-Nail: Used to heat the banger. Torches are traditional propane or butane torches, while e-nails are electronic devices that provide precise temperature control.
Dab Tool: A small utensil used to scoop, apply, and stir cannabis concentrates safely.
Types of Dab Rigs
Traditional Glass Dab Rigs
Glass rigs are the most common choice for dabbing. They are durable, easy to clean, and provide excellent flavor preservation. Borosilicate glass is especially favored for its ability to withstand high temperatures.
Mini Dab Rigs
Compact and portable, mini rigs are ideal for users who want discretion without compromising functionality. They are perfect for on-the-go dabbing or smaller concentrate sessions.
Electric Dab Rigs (E-Rigs)
E-rigs eliminate the need for a torch by using a battery-powered heating element. These rigs offer precise temperature control and are beginner-friendly. They are also more convenient and safer to use in environments where open flames are not allowed.
How to Use a Dab Rig
Prepare Your Rig: Fill the chamber with water to the appropriate level.
Heat the Nail or Banger: Use a torch or e-nail to heat the surface until it reaches the desired temperature. Low-temp dabs are smoother and more flavorful.
Apply the Concentrate: Using a dab tool, place a small amount of concentrate onto the heated nail.
Inhale: Slowly inhale the vapor through the mouthpiece while rotating the dab tool to ensure even vaporization.
Maintaining Your Dab Rig
Proper maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Here are some tips for maintaining your dab rig:
Clean Regularly: Use isopropyl alcohol and salt to remove residue from the rig and nail.
Change Water Frequently: Fresh water ensures cleaner hits and prevents bacteria buildup.
Inspect for Damage: Check for cracks or weak spots, especially in glass rigs.
Choosing the Right Dab Rig
When selecting a dab rig, consider the following factors:
Material: Glass is the most popular material due to its durability and heat resistance. Borosilicate glass is especially favored for its ability to withstand high temperatures.
Size and Portability: Smaller rigs are ideal for maximizing flavor and are easier to store and transport. Larger rigs often include extra features like recyclers or multiple chambers for added filtration.
Accessories: Investing in high-quality accessories like carb caps, dab tools, and quartz bangers can elevate your dabbing experience. For advanced users, electronic nails (e-nails) provide precise temperature control, ensuring optimal vaporization.
Ease of Cleaning: Consider how easy it is to clean the rig. Dab rigs with simple designs are easier to maintain, while more intricate rigs may require additional effort to keep them in top condition.
Conclusion
Dab rigs have revolutionized the way cannabis enthusiasts enjoy concentrates, offering a cleaner, more potent experience. By understanding the different types of rigs and how they function, you can elevate your dabbing sessions and enjoy the full benefits of this method of consumption. Whether you are new to dabbing or a seasoned pro, there is a dab rig out there that fits your needs and preferences.

BGM: Japan - Quiet Life
I worked late today. This morning, I went to AEON as usual. There, I read an interesting book, Se Teruhisa's "Anglicization Means Making People Stupid [施光恒『英語科は愚民化』]" while enjoying Takkyu Ishino's bangers. Indeed, the title sounded provoking/controversial, but I enjoyed this book's content because in my opinion this author's position seemed to be next to us, ordinary people (in other words, the people who aren't so-called elites).
In Japan, as this Se Teruhisa's book explains, the concept of "Anglicization" has been working as quite an obsessive ideal for people like me. Se tries to clarify that Anglicization must be based on the so-called notorious neoliberalism (the mechanism that enables making some elites and upper class richer, instead of making "us" so because that Anglicization enables us to be divided into those two types because of abilities in English).
After that, I tried to change my mood. I went to the bookstore in AEON, and found a new copy of the weekly magazine "AERA". The cover said this one featured several methods (or clues) to study English casually, so I bought it. Reading it slightly (quite interesting), I thought about several reasons I've been learning English. Indeed, by learning English I want to learn other things abroad (No… The worldwide issues containing domestic ones from any outer perspective). Also, I guess that learning activity has enriched my personality a lot enough to think several things as crisply as I can.
One of the articles in that magazine said that Japanese people's ability of English is poorer relatively than other countries, and it meant that the Japanese must keep trying to learn English to become international people who can explain their unique opinions to the world. Indeed, that must be important for us. However, I guess that the issue we must think about is that we need to "weave" each one's unique opinions within one's mind carefully/steadily, and also declare them in public to start any discussions (even in Japanese).
At 5 p.m., I had a break time. I thought about how I could build my identity as a Japanese guy sincerely within my mind, and also show it in public with a tolerant mind. For example, I don't like so-called notorious nationalism because I am so strange that I couldn't have felt that no one accepted me as "a member" in this country, even though they accepted me as "a friend". I need to think about this more.

Elevate Your Experience: Premium Dab Rigs & Recycler Bongs
In recent years, the culture surrounding concentrates and dry herbs has evolved significantly, bringing with it an explosion of innovative smoking apparatuses. Among these, dab rigs and recycler bongs stand out as sophisticated tools designed to enhance flavor, maximize efficiency, and provide an unparalleled smoking experience. This guide delves deep into the world of dab rigs and recycler bongs, exploring their features, benefits, types, and the factors to consider when choosing the perfect piece for your collection.
Tumblr media
What Are Dab Rigs and Recycler Bongs?
Dab Rigs
Dab rigs, also known as oil rigs, are specialized glass water pipes designed for vaporizing concentrates like wax, shatter, and oil. Unlike traditional bongs that use combustion to burn dry herbs, dab rigs employ a heated nail or banger to vaporize concentrates, delivering a smoother and more potent experience. The result? It is a pure, flavorful hit that highlights the essence of your concentrate.
Key components of a dab rig include:
Nail or Banger: Typically made of quartz, titanium, or ceramic, this component is heated to high temperatures to vaporize the concentrate.
Percolator: Helps to cool and filter the vapor, providing a smoother inhalation.
Carb Cap: Enhances vaporization by trapping heat and controlling airflow.
Torch or E-Nail: Used to heat the nail or banger.
Recycler Bongs
Recycler bongs are a type of water pipe with a unique design for enhanced filtration and smoother hits. The name "recycler" comes from how water and smoke continuously circulate through the chambers, ensuring the smoke is cooled and filtered multiple times before reaching your lungs. This constant motion delivers a cooler, cleaner hit and minimizes waste by preserving the potency of your concentrate or herb.
Key features of a recycler bong include:
Cycling Chambers: These keep water and smoke in a loop.
Splash Guard: Prevents water from entering the mouthpiece.
Percolators: Enhance filtration and cooling for a smoother experience.
The Appeal of Dab Rigs and Recycler Bongs
Both dab rigs and recycler bongs have gained immense popularity for their ability to elevate the smoking experience. Here's why they're a must-have for enthusiasts:
Enhanced Flavor: Concentrates are known for their potent flavors, and dab rigs preserve these nuances better than traditional smoking methods. Similarly, recycler bongs enhance the taste of dry herbs by providing cleaner, more astounding hits.
Efficient Filtration: The advanced filtration systems in both devices ensure that harmful residues and impurities are filtered out, offering a healthier and smoother inhalation.
Customizable Experience: With countless designs, materials, and add-ons, users can tailor their setup to suit their preferences and style.
Aesthetic Appeal: Modern dab rigs and recycler bongs are works of art featuring intricate designs and vibrant colors that make them stand out in any collection.
Versatility: Whether you're into concentrates or dry herbs, there's a piece that caters to your needs.
Types of Dab Rigs
Traditional Dab Rigs These are the classic rigs designed with simplicity in mind. They typically include a single chamber and a nail or banger for vaporizing concentrates. Ideal for beginners, traditional dab rigs are easy to use and maintain.
Mini Dab Rigs Compact and portable mini dab rigs offer the same functionality as their larger counterparts but in a smaller package. They're perfect for on-the-go enthusiasts or those with limited space.
E-Rigs (Electronic Dab Rigs) E-rigs eliminate the need for a torch by using electronic heating elements. These devices allow precise temperature control, making achieving the perfect hit every time easier.
Recycler Dab Rigs These rigs combine the benefits of recyclers and dab rigs, offering advanced filtration and cooling for an ultra-smooth dabbing experience.
Silicone Dab Rigs Durable and unbreakable, silicone rigs are ideal for those who prioritize practicality. They're easy to clean and perfect for outdoor adventures.
Types of Recycler Bongs
Standard Recycler Bongs These bongs feature a basic recycling mechanism that keeps water and smoke in constant motion, delivering smooth hits.
External Recycler Bongs External recyclers have a separate recycling chamber attached to the main body, allowing for more intricate designs and enhanced functionality.
Klein Recycler Bongs A Klein recycler incorporates an intricate design where water flows in multiple directions, offering exceptional filtration and cooling.
Incycler Bongs Incyclers are compact versions of recyclers with the recycling mechanism housed within the main chamber. They're perfect for users who want advanced filtration without a bulky setup.
Tumblr media
Tips for Maintaining Your Dab Rig or Recycler Bong
To ensure your piece remains in top condition, follow these maintenance tips:
Clean Regularly: Residue and buildup can affect flavor and functionality. Use isopropyl alcohol and salt to clean your rig or bong thoroughly.
Use the Right Tools: Avoid metal tools that scratch glass surfaces; opt for silicone or plastic accessories.
Replace Worn Components: Over time, nails, bangers, and other parts may wear out. Replace them promptly to maintain optimal performance.
Store Safely: Keep your glass pieces in a secure, padded case to prevent damage.
The Future of Dab Rigs and Recycler Bongs
As technology and craftsmanship continue to advance, the world of dab rigs and recycler bongs is set to become even more exciting. Innovations such as innovative rigs with app integration, enhanced recycling mechanisms, and eco-friendly materials are shaping the future of smoking accessories. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a curious newcomer, there's never been a better time to explore the world of premium dab rigs and recycler bongs.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, dab rigs and recycler bongs are more than they're an art form and a testament to the creativity and passion of the smoking community. By choosing the right piece and maintaining it well, you can elevate your experience and enjoy the full potential of your concentrates and dry herbs.

Best Dab Rigs for Smooth and Flavorful Hits
As dabbing becomes a popular method for consuming cannabis concentrates, the demand for high-quality dab rigs continues to grow. Whether you're new to dabbing or a seasoned enthusiast, finding the perfect dab rig for smooth, flavorful hits is essential to elevate your experience. In this guide, we’ll explore some of the best dab rigs on the market and what makes them stand out.
Tumblr media
Why the Right Dab Rig Matters
The quality of your Dab Rig can greatly affect the flavor and smoothness of your hits. Dab rigs are designed to cool down the vapor from concentrates, making the inhalation smoother while preserving the full flavor profile. The right setup can help you avoid harsh, hot vapor that diminishes the taste and smoothness of the dab.
Whether you prefer compact rigs for portability or more intricate designs for enhanced functionality, the following options will give you top-tier performance for flavor and smoothness.
Top Dab Rigs for 2024
1. Glass Dab Rigs
Glass is the most popular material for dab rigs due to its ability to provide pure, unaltered flavor. High-quality glass rigs not only deliver smooth hits but also allow users to see the vapor and water filtration process, adding to the overall experience.
Some popular models include:
Recycler Rigs: These rigs continuously recycle water within the rig, providing extra filtration and keeping the vapor cooler for a smoother hit.
Mini Glass Rigs: For those who want portability without sacrificing quality, mini glass rigs are a great option. They offer smooth hits in a compact size, perfect for travel or discreet sessions.
2. Silicone Dab Rigs
If you're someone who values durability and easy maintenance, silicone dab rigs are a fantastic choice. While they may not offer the same level of flavor purity as glass, they are nearly indestructible and perfect for outdoor adventures.
3. Electric Dab Rigs (E-Rigs)
Electric dab rigs, or E-rigs, have revolutionized the dabbing scene by eliminating the need for a torch. These rigs allow for precise temperature control, ensuring that you get smooth, flavorful hits every time. E-rigs are especially great for beginners, as they simplify the dabbing process.
One highly recommended option for 2024 is the Lookah Unicorn E-Rig, which offers temperature precision and portability, making it easy to enjoy smooth hits on the go.
Features to Look for in a Dab Rig
1. Percolation System
Percolators are essential for filtering the vapor and cooling it down before inhalation. The more percolation a rig has, the smoother the hit will be. Common percolator styles include honeycomb, showerhead, and tree percs.
2. Nail or Banger Quality
The quality of your nail or banger directly impacts the flavor of your dab. Quartz bangers are widely considered the best choice for preserving the taste of concentrates. Titanium nails are also popular for their durability, but they can sometimes affect flavor.
3. Size and Portability
If you're looking for something portable, mini rigs are ideal. However, if you want larger hits and are less concerned with mobility, a full-sized dab rig may be more appropriate.
Conclusion
Choosing the right dab rig is crucial for enjoying smooth and flavorful hits. Whether you prefer the elegance of glass, the durability of silicone, or the convenience of electric dab rigs, there’s a perfect rig for everyone. Take into consideration the percolation system, the quality of the nail or banger, and the portability to find the best match for your dabbing style.
Explore the wide range of dab rigs available today, and elevate your dabbing experience with smooth and flavorful hits every time!

At just 18 years old, this Inglewood native has already secured his place as one of the most promising young voices in the rap game. With the release of his latest project, 310Degrees, 310babii is turning up the heat, showing that his meteoric rise is just getting started.
310babii’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. In 2023, while still juggling high school classes, he dropped his breakout single, “Soak City (Do It),” which quickly became a West Coast anthem. Fueled by a viral TikTok dance challenge, the track dominated the charts, earning over 20 million views on YouTube and peaking at #1 on both the Rhythmic and Rap charts. His success didn't stop there—Soak City spent 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing 310babii as a certified hitmaker.
Fast forward to 2024, and 310babii is ready to continue his winning streak. His new project, 310Degrees, is a testament to his ability to deliver bangers while evolving as an artist. The project features his latest single, “That’s It,” a bass-heavy, thunderous track that showcases his versatility. In the accompanying music video, 310babii is seen riding through the streets of Oakland, exuding confidence as he commands the screen. Directed by AdamKG, the visuals highlight his flair for storytelling and his undeniable charisma.

The new single comes on the heels of other summer anthems like “Rock Ya Hips” and “Pink Whitney,” both of which dominated TikTok and amassed millions of streams. His knack for creating viral moments has positioned 310babii as not just a rapper, but a cultural force. From collaborating with heavyweights like Saweetie, OhGeesy, and BlueBucksClan to gracing stages at Coachella and Rolling Loud, 310babii is showing no signs of slowing down.
But it’s not just about the music. 310babii’s work ethic is a driving force behind his success. “Every artist has their recipe, and my method of success has been dominating TikTok and social media,” he explains. With a platinum plaque and countless viral hits under his belt, 310babii’s hustle is undeniable.
Now, with 310Degrees officially out, the world is watching to see what’s next. As he continues to climb the charts and evolve his sound, 310babii is proving that he’s not just another rising star—he’s here to stay.
For fans of West Coast rap and those looking for the next big thing, 310Degrees is a must-listen. This project encapsulates 310babii’s journey from high school to the top of the rap game, and it’s only the beginning.

"Arp Omni" | "Veneficium" - Xiu Xiu
◇ released: Aug. 14, 2024 ◇ featured on 13" Frank Beltrame Italian Stiletto With Bison Horn Grips (not yet released) ◇ genres: psychedelic rock, neo-psychedelia, ambient
Xiu Xiu have returned with two more excellent singles leading up to their upcoming new album - no doubt, one of my most anticipated releases of the year. These new songs have them playing around with songs that have much more psychedelic sonic palettes than the previous single, "Common Loon." "Arp Omni" is an ethereal ambient track with rising synths that remind me of Angelo Badalamenti and "Veneficium" is a scratchy piece of psych-rock that's one of the most straight-up rock songs they've ever made all the while not sacrificing their signature edge. Really loving these tracks and I can't wait for the new record, they've been on a roll.

"Mutations" - Nilüfer Yanya
◇ released: Aug. 14, 2024 ◇ featured on My Method Actor (not yet released) ◇ genres: art rock, indie rock
The fourth single from Nilüfer Yanya's My Method Actor is here and it might be my favorite thus far. A sleek, mellow cut with some gorgeous vocals and punchy percussion. Nothing is overstated, but emphasis is put on just the right stuff. Those short but sweet string arrangements on the back end are also an incredible touch, one of those things that elevated the song into "ohhhh yeah" territory. This upcoming record is shaping up to be one of the strongest sleeper hits of the year. I'm very excited to hear it!

"problem" - Cash Cobain & Lalai!
◇ released: Aug. 14, 2024 ◇ featured on PLAY CASH COBAIN (not yet released) ◇ genres: sexy drill, east coast hip hop
So, my first introduction to Cash Cobain was through his god-awful collab with J. Cole from a few months ago, "Grippy." I figured I might as well give him another shot, which was pretty generous of me given how horrible that track was. "problem" is definitely a step-up, but it exhausts all of its good ideas far too quickly. The track reaches nearly 8-minutes and it does not have the pacing or the ideas necessary to make it engaging all the way through. Aimless track desperately in need of some extensive editing.

"Shake It Like A" - Frost Children feat. Danny Brown
◇ released: Aug. 15, 2024 ◇ genres: electro house, electropop
A few weeks after their noteworthy feature on Porter Robinson's new record, Frost Children have released an aggressive electro house banger with the one and only Danny Brown. He brings just the right energy to this track, I think he could fit almost anywhere. This is a song meant to be heard in a live setting, a climactic moment in a DJ set. If Frost Children have more tracks like this in their arsenal, I really need to go back through their catalog.

"Lonely Is the Muse" - Halsey
◇ released: Aug. 15, 2024 ◇ genre: alternative rock
Halsey, I would like to apologize. I ragged on your last single for being a slice of boring alt-pop, indistinguishable from the dozens of other artists playing around with that sound at the moment. However, this new single of yours is pretty great. "Lonely Is the Muse" somehow manages to recapture that 2000s alt-rock sound without sounding like a pastiche. It's arresting, just a track that really gets your attention. This track, alongside her last album, add further proof that Halsey sounds the most at home when not doing the alt-pop she came up on. More of this please!

"Pretty Slowly" - Benson Boone
◇ released: Aug. 15, 2024 ◇ genres: stomp and holler
This is evil music. Evil. This music has no heart or soul. It's only put on this earth to terrorize us. Benson Boone, I don't respect you and I don't like you.

"Die For Me" - Jean Dawson feat. Lil Yachty
◇ released: Aug. 16, 2024 ◇ featured on Glimmer of God (not yet released) ◇ genres: alternative r&b, trap
Jean Dawson has returned with a polished R&B cut with Lil Yachty - who, like Jelly Roll, is a presence I can't seem to escape. This track is ... good! I can't say it's doing much for me, but it's a pleasant listen. Jean Dawson's verses are nice and he gets the opportunity to flex vocally alongside some sharp string flourishes, but it all just feels a bit anticlimactic. Maybe it'll fit better in the context of a full record, but as a single it's leaving a bit to be desired.

"Die With a Smile" - Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars
◇ released: Aug. 16, 2024 ◇ genres: pop soul, pop rock, adult contemporary
Seemingly out of nowhere, this new single from early 2010s pop icons Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars emerged. "Die With a Smile" is fine, a bit of a snoozer, but it's decently produced enough and features some good performances to make it all go down easy. His catalog can be hit or miss, but Mars always brings a swagger to his performances that makes him frustratingly charming. Gaga also really shines here, perhaps the brightest. This seems to be a fun one-off before the pair go off to do other things ... or it could be a case of a friend helping a friend given Mars' massive gambling debts that were reported a few months ago. Either way, I see no harm!
