I found a new band I like
They're called Cute is What we Aim For
I like them a lot their music is really chill, kinda like early MCR musically but different themes--idk who to describe it as, maybe Fall Out Boy or Pierce the Veil--lyrically
My favorite song by them is The Curse of Curves
I better check to make sure none of them did anything terrible
Looks like the answer is no according to Wikipedia
Anyway yeah they're cool go listen to them

Cute Is What We Aim For – The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch
Some bands in the 00s emo and pop-punk scenes have aged like fine wine, while others have aged like spoiled milk, but context matters in which you look at a band from the scene. Nostalgia can also play a big factor in that, because if you grew up with something, your nostalgia goggles might prevent you from seeing something for what it is, or you could at least overlook the shortcomings. It all depends on the album, however, but today I wanted to talk about an album that I have fond memories with, even if it isn’t one of my favorites of the scene today. That album is the 2006 debut from Cute Is What We Aim For, entitled The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch. I remember listening to this album quite a bit in my freshman year of high school, even though it came out a year beforehand (because a live version of a song was on an Alternative Press compilation that came out in the late summer / early fall of 2007), but I was heavily getting into that type of alternative and emo. I was a huge fan of bands like Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco, and both bands have a theatrical sound that I’ve always enjoyed, and Cute Is What We Aim For fits into that mold. They have a melodramatic sound that’s complete with sneering, cynical, and sarcastic lyrics with a lot of one-liners that people surely used as their picture captions on MySpace, a vocalist that’s both whiny and has charisma, and a rhythm section that provides some solid hooks.
Make no mistake, The Same Old Blood Rush is an album of its time. This screams Hot Topic and MySpace, but it’s not a bad thing, per se. This album has that sound, image, and overall aesthetic, but it feels like the time that it came from. There’s nothing wrong with something being dated, but it all depends on how it tackles that sound and subject matter. The lyrics on this album is all focused around high school, drama, gossip, cliques, “being fake,” and all that stuff you’d associate with high school (maybe middle school, too). That can be nostalgic, especially if you listened to this in high school and you hear it as an adult, but I can’t blame you if you don’t like this album at all. This album is nostalgic for me, personally, because I listened to this a lot in high school, especially “The Curse Of Curves,” but I can admit this album isn’t perfect. Hell, if you want an album that has this same idea, but does it better, look no further than The Academy Is…’s last album, 2008’s Fast Times At Barrington High. Not only is William Beckett a better singer and lyricist, but the band’s sound is a lot more interesting and catchier than this record is. I still enjoy it, but the way they tackle high school and adolescence is a lot more interesting and nuanced than the way Cute Is What We Aim For tackles it. This record can get somewhat obnoxious at times, because of how sarcastic, cynical, and witty it attempts to be, but it can be a lot. The album is still fun and catchy a lot of the time, but it’s not an album that I would go to bat for, or that I would immediately recommend first if you want some stuff in this vein.
I still enjoy it, nonetheless, because the album is of its time, but I can’t deny that it has some good one-liners and catchy hooks. If anything, this record is one that I’ll dust off every so often, enjoy it for what it is, and then forget about it until I randomly come across it again, only for the cycle to repeat itself. I don’t mind albums that I only listen to here and there, or that I’ll listen to once every so often, but that’s an issue, nonetheless. I only go back to those albums so many times before I get bored of them, because they’re not albums I love enough to constantly listen to. Cute Is What We Aim For’s debut album is a time capsule into 2006, but it’s not the best time capsule. Again, I could understand if someone listened to this now and thinks this album is garbage. It’s not all that unique, special, or even interesting, because there’s not much to dissect here. The lyrics don’t have subtext, nuance, or any real meaning outside of being about high school. This record takes me back to middle school and high school, and how much I loved this album back then, but it’s not a record I completely love today. I like it a lot, even so much that I picked it up on vinyl, but it’s more so one of those albums from my teenage years that I like to dust off every now and again, because it’s a fun listen every now and then. I mean, I would still recommend this, because it’s got some solid hooks, and a few pretty clever one-liners that I’m still impressed by today, but it’s not any better than bands like Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is, The Cab, The Higher, or a lot of those bands. It’s worth a listen, especially if you want to hear something from the mid-00s that you might have not heard in so long, but don’t be surprised if you don’t think it’s very good, or it’s not as good you remember. I’ve got a soft spot for this record, but out of the nostalgic stuff I’ve been listening to, this isn’t my favorite. Not by a long shot.

it's a good thing conclave didn't waste any time on making the stories about catholic orders and their in-fighting. and probably i shouldn't either because i am not informed enough about it to go on at length. pls take all of this w a grain of salt.
but i know in my heart of hearts that aldo bellini is a progressive liberal jesuit, the holy father's specialest most progressive liberal italian-american jesuit.
look at him. look at his glasses. those are the glasses of a man who did his dissertation on reinterpreting loyola through a contemporary reformist lens. academic wunderkid. has sooo much beef w the editors of american jesuit weekly. possibly the events of conclave are occurring in a better more beautiful world where aldo bellini is the editor of american jesuit weekly.
the late holy father for sure was a progressive jesuit also. vr pope francis coded. and low-key set him up as a successor. for a while, that seemed nearly a sure thing in some circles.
but there is the fact. well. the fact that everyone is tired, done and tired of jesuits, progressive or otherwise.
this among other factors meant he couldn't consider him the best option, besides whatever character judgement and uncanny machievallien prediction he came up with.
adeyemi has that benedictine swag which makes his potential election particularly seem like a breath of fresh air + reliable + lots of influence. tremblay is giving dominican drip and dominican corruption. and dominican flop. his nespresso machine? it's giving dominican also.
tedesco has to be an italian-founded order member. most hypocrital salesian of all times maybe?? this is unrelated to the fact that i was nearly enrolled in a salesian primary school and the weirdly panopticon-ish playground didn't pass the vibe check. and also because: consider tedesco rising in the ranks of an order created to help migrant workers...someone kick him in the head for me pls.
who even knows about benítez. i want to say franciscan but that might be just too on the nose. cistercian?? honestly it would work well if he is also without affiliation.
this lens does make lawrence's homily being interpreted as a campaign speech more understandable (and particularly funny).
because, as far as anyone can tell, he's fully running as an independent candidate. zero platform besides - if i fuck up i'll apologize and do better and be held accountable, which is more than any of you probably would.
and because he stands alone, he can be held accountable. he can belong to all, and not one faction only. as far as anyone can tell, he's burning bridges with bellini and rocking the status quo.
he is speaking to/from a place of frustration with institutional inertia and factionalism, he is using his position as dean to bravely promote a platform for internal change in the curia, he is offering doubt as an alternative to certainty, he is pulling an absolute wildcard move.
pity he didn't mean it.
pity the the only order lawrence is interested in joining is the most hardcore discalced carmelite experience possible.
you know how some people look into luxurious real estate listings like it's porn? that's lawrence w tiny monasteries. the sort of minuscule organization with not enough people for management to be necessary. too small for politics. as close to erasure as you can get in this world: no need to be useful.
serving god by existing only to meditate on him. a narrow slant of a life, at that. barely taking up space, barely casting a shadow.
his favorite is a decrepit wreck of a place in the middle of southern spain, nowhere. no wifi no speaking aloud no possessions. no shoes no food. no nothing, only prayer. and a big big sky overhead.
maybe that will fix his issues with reaching god. if that doesn't work he'll probably just wander into the tabernas desert and become an hermit. works for some people, supposedly; plenty of order founders seem to believe so, anyway.
#conclave#sabbadin also gives jesuit. imo#i can't begin to guess at ray o'malley. some really niche order no one's heard about or he's also unaffiliated#i do think that. perhaps. unfortunately. everyone thinks lawrence is pulling another curve ball of a political move.#so even if he does join an order post canon#that reputation will proceed him. no abbot will believe this political mastermind if he says he wants to set aside wordly matters#he just won't get that spiritual job interview acceptance.#guy who is cursed to remain orderless. to answer to his own discernment and be an agent in the world. forced to try and try again#thomas lawrence#aldo bellini#vincent benítez#goffredo tedesco#joseph tremblay#conclave spoilers

sometimes i forget that people genuinely perceive season four sam exorcising demons w his powers as genuinely horrible, or even scale his killing the nurse in 4.22 as the worst he's ever done. on the 4.04, "use the knife!" and [proceeds to use the demon blade and angel blade for seasons upon season afterward] and drains multiple people in 5.21 and 7.15 flashback scene show
#kindergarten concept to me. like can we be fr lmfao#tbh soulless!sam has done 'worse' than sesson four sam and sam still managed to take responsibility for it AS figuring out what happened#i genuinely really do forget that people interpret the show from this level of dissonant narrative framing#even sam's letting lucifer out of the cage was highly manufactured (both in terms of the actual event + sam's consent)#like i get it people who think of the show this way could care less since they're not actually interested in sam much less#this hypocritical view of him at all but like even if you believe in the dichotomy of monstrosity they show you sam saving lives#+ his motivations within that season. even his drinking of the blood was consensual and was even attempted to be forced onto him#in specific instances so your dislike of it mainly just comes down to your dislike of the imagery or idea of it#which is shallow as hell at best and negligent of sam's 'supernatural' circumstance as a character at worst#also re: theo's tags the 'well. he was killing innocent people' as if the whole reason he was doing in the first place wasn't#because he curved that !! he says it at the end of 4.01 and again in 4.04 he was saving people with 'this curse' and he was proud of that#he literally‚ on screen‚ within canon events‚ was doing the Opposite of killing innocent people and the ways#in which he did kill innocent people were typical monster kills on the monster hunting show#&#referat
