Taking the current topic as an excuse to ask you to tell me all the reasons you love Rarijack. Your art for the ship is so sweet and intimate I'd love to hear any in depth thoughts you have.

I think what makes their dynamic really strong is that they have opposing personalities but aligned values. It's deeper than just "opposites attract." Rarity's fancy, prissy, and femme while Applejack's modest, rough, and "masculine." But both value hard work (to the point of being workaholics), their families (both have guardianship over their little sisters), running successful businesses, and eventually each other. Their relationship can be boiled down to, "Despite our differences/disagreements, I still like you because we value the same things."

We see their relationship develop so much. In the first season, they can't stop bickering about surface-level differences. By season four, they still bicker, but will mend their relationship because they can't help but do nice things for each other. In Trade Ya, they start off arguing over personality differences (Applejack likes old junk and Rarity likes useless crap). Then they pivot and start arguing that they value their relationship more than the other. In the end, they mend things by sacrificing their needs and buying each other a gift. Even if they don't understand it, they know it'd make the other happy. And that's all that really matters. It's a genuinely sweet moment that shows how arguing can be healthy and necessary for relationships to strengthen.

We even see them dropping their hang-ups about each others' personalities. In Made in Manehattan, when Rarity runs off in dramatics about someone's fashion, AJ doesn't roll her eyes or scoff, she smiles. Oftentimes, their conflicts are very common domestic conflicts romantic couples face. Applejack's Day Off is about a woman's inability to balance work and life and find time to properly spend with her partner, causing her partner to feel neglected.

By season seven, they're actively participating in each others' interests. Any problems or conflicts that arise are dealt with, and they come out the other end stronger and closer. In Honest Apple, AJ pretty much spells out why their relationship works so well: even though she doesn't understand fashion, she can recognize and appreciate how much work it takes and wants to respect that. When she realizes her mistake in the episode, AJ goes above and beyond to fix things and apologize to Rarity. They care about each other so much.

The two go out of their way, sacrificing their personal desires and beliefs and doing things they normally wouldn't, to make the other happy. That's just love.

There's Simple Ways, where AJ gets stuck in an unwanted love triangle between Rarity and her hipster crush. And her frustration and anger can be so easily interpreted as AJ finding herself in a terrible position; the girl she loves wants another man, and that man wants her.

I dunno. I've always had a preference for opposites attract ships, but Rarijack's stuck with me like a brain worm because they have the perfect chemistry. The way they show they care, or do things for each other, I've always read it as the truest representation of romance in the show.

“Look Dan. Maybe I don’t want to go back to Amity. Maybe I like living in Gotham. Crazy and all.”

Jason was never one to get involved in a stranger’s business while in civilian clothes, but he had to see what kind of transplant wanted to stay in Gotham of all places.

He peeked over his book around the park and found her, tall and glorious in the afternoon sun. He tracked her pacing a track into the stubborn grass, her long red hair whipping with each sharp turn as she argued on the phone.

She looked a bit like princess with how she refused to hunch her shoulders and glared hard enough to make plants wither. The stranger would look at home in armor.

Jason blinked, then tried to erase the image of her sunset hair flowing in battle from his mind’s eye.

Her conversation partner had said something and the growl she responded with nearly made Jason fall out off the park bench. The sub-vocal rumble even made the lingering Lazarus Pit sit up and retreat.

If he hadn’t let out his own mortifying noise of surprise at her growl, her sharp teal eyes certainly did, a mutant meep escaping from deep in his chest. With her gaze actually on him he felt as if he needed to bow, to defer to the clearly more dangerous predator.

His noise stopped her growl, halting and leaving a drowning silence in it’s wake. She flushed red, stepping his way with an apologetic smile.

His heart still hammered from the surprise and the Pit was more awake then he was comfortable with.

“Dan! We’ll pick this up later.” She commanded to the person on the phone. “I just scared my boyfriend, poor thing.”

With a resolute snap of her flip phone she came to his side with the aura of a human trying to sooth a stray. Or maybe an otherworldly being trying to say “Be Not Afraid.”

Jason was Red Hood! Former Robin! He wasn’t scared. Nuh-uh, not at all.

Somewhere Stephanie Brown got the impression that there was something important happening that would make excellent blackmail.

recurring minor characters not being in s2 of the show does mean that TLO is absolutely doomed now if they ever do get to it, because the weight and impact of characters like Silena and Beckendorf are entirely based on how long they've been around in the books and their longstanding connection to events in the story and particularly Percy (not to mention Beckendorf's importance in SoM specifically but i digress)

HOWEVER. on the bright side: this means they are spared from being in the show for now. so.

so i have this au called "the mage's heir" where davy never gives simon up after lucy's death and, instead, makes the decision to raise him alone. and kinda does okay! davy is still all *snazzy piano riff* and shit, but in this verse, taking care of simon when he's small forces him to step away from his work and chill the fuck out a bit. at least for a little while. (simon winds up growing up into a signficiantly more arrogant and morally grey version of himself tho.)

at first it was mostly just to explore my MC (Raymond)'s design and i was like "well i want to figure out how tall she is compared to mammon" so i drew mammon but then I remembered i headcanon asmo the same height so i drew asmo and... it went down hill fast and suddenly i have 7 of these fuckers in my face.

As i finished up the sketches of the boys i realized i wanted to add more of my personal headcanons of them- like usually, outside of the exchange programs, demons would exist with their demonic features out n about (horns, tail, wings and freakishly proportioned limbs) like we see the normal RAD students do in the manga

but since the second human exchange student would be staying with them- Lucifer strictly asked for the brothers to take more effort into "looking human" to seem more welcoming and ensure the program runs smoothly but their appearances differ anyway- like how belphie puts zero effort into seeming more human with his gross long fingers and tail n horns out to still nonchalantly stick it to the man (although perhaps it would change depending on his relationship with MC- painfully aware he was in his demon form when he killed them), Asmo keeping his horns because you 'shouldn't let hide beauty !!' while Lucifer and Satan generally just look like tall humans- but its not like Satan actually respects Lucifer's wishes or anything, I think its just Satan's default normally since he wants to come across as calm and collected.

any other changes to their being are just because some of their outfits are fucking ugly. dont @ me. i'll probably actually do drawings of what id want them to look like but have half assed headcanons for now

Rewatching SAO season 1 and banging my head against the wall maybe it's just me maybe I'm the only person who prefers the later seasons over the first bc it's just so. All over the place. And I'm SORRY but I gotta say it the romance is Bad. And by Bad I mean Badly Written. Looking at it from an analysis viewpoint I honestly like the idea of Kirito and Asuna getting together bc they're just so desperate for some form of comfort in the fucked up world they're in. Maybe some part of it is from mutual attraction but it's mostly due to wanting some form of stability bc what else can they rely on? Literally Yui says she was banned from giving the players any sort of encouragement or, more importantly, therapy so it's no wonder so many of them are traumatized and cling to each other for support. There's definitely evidence of that with Kirito's PTSD (during s1 and even s2) but also the fact that like. He and Asuna didn't even get together until two weeks before SAO was cleared. TWO WEEKS. In that time they got married and adopted a kid. They're literally TEENAGERS. I can absolutely see their relationship forming from a "well we could die any day now so we might as well" standpoint. How much of their relationship was actually real and how much of it was just extreme codependency and longing for companionship as they tried to deal with the literal death game they're trapped in. It all felt so rushed--and honestly that's probably why Kawahara started writing SAO Progressive to give their relationship more time to grow and add more context on what happened during those two years. But I can definitely see a world in which they finally escape SAO and realize that yeah. We literally just got together bc we needed it in that moment, but now we're back in the real world and can reevaluate our relationship and realize that we're just not meant for each other and that's okay. What we had in SAO was really special but that's specifically bc of the circumstances. Now we can move on with our lives and find other people and form relationships NOT based around the context of a death game. I especially feel this in season 2 because both Kirito and Asuna have character arcs that really develop their characters and the other isn't even present!! They actually spend more time apart than together and sadly enough I love their characters way more bc of that 😔

MAYBE this is just me arguing bc I like Yujikiri a billion times more and think Eugeo's way better for Kirito romantically but I DIGRESS. That is not my POINT. LMAO
