Y'all ready for another big beta sprite drop of Unova Pokemon? (There's another part to this but it will be smaller, but there's a lot of other information covered as well.)

I like how beta Simisage had a bushier tail and cooler expression, and the sprite work for Lillipup and Herdier looked almost complete, but then we have Stoutland 😂

Sorry, I don't live in Unova so I'm not familiar with those Pokemon but... Do Throh and Sawk wear actual human clothes? Or is it something else? Did they make it??? Is it given by their trainers????

i'm not sure you're going to like the answer to this (a lot of people don't), but their "outfits" are actually skin. similar to how scraggy's skin works, the thick, loose skin around their bodies helps distribute the force of attacks, protecting them from getting hurt as badly in battle. note how the white and colored parts of their bodies have the same sort of patterning!

the dark parts are adornments made of vines, which they weave together and replace fairly frequently. but the rest of it is just part of their body.

last night i found this little book of unova comics in my brother’s room while looking for a gba charger

the art in it is lovely and i would like to share some highlights cuz the pokemon in these comics are for real just silly little guys

sawk and throh are unwarrantedly adorable. they’re so muppet.

so is gurdurr. whoever’s said that gurdurr is not cute has clearly never read the Pokémon Black & White Pocket Comics. shoutout gurdurr nation

Osamu Tezuka x Pokemon

Tezumon! This one is more of a grab bag, an interim between the next set. We have Sapphire from Princess Knight, Rock Makubes/Holmes, Kenichi Shikishima and Higeyoji/Shunsaku Ban. I don’t draw the first three often for personal reasons, so I really went out of my comfort zone.

Sapphire has Gallade and Gardevoir! Both are capable of mega evolution.

Rock has Zoroark, Pachirisu, Deerling and Kirlia!

Kenichi has Chatot, Duosion, Pichu and shiny Meowstic!

Higeyoji has Walrein, Sawk and Throh!

This makes no sense and it was all created when I was supposed to be asleep, but roll with me now y'all:

Gyutaro as Scyther: he fights with scythes, green, weirdly stick-ish body and honestly Scyther kind looks like it's scowling all the time like him

Daki as Tsareena: Blurry photo aside, something similar about the socks and leg coloring, as well as the hair.

Akaza as Hitmonchan: I can't be the only one to see the fighting and stance similarities here can I?

Gyokko as Gyrados: Other than the fact they're both fishy, Magikarp and Gyokko are both kinda ugly with yellowish eyes (sorry), but their final form are really dragonlike.

Shinobu as Butterfree: It's a no brainer, they're both butterflies and the coloring scheme for the haori to the wings are kinda similar

Rengoku as Arcanine: Fire and fire, but I didn't go for Charmander here is because I can't put my finger on it exactly but there's something in both of their expressions: eyebrows and big dumb golden retriever smile, if you get it.

Urokodaki as Throh: This was purely off appearances...

Hantengu and Clones as Evee and Evolutions: Ignoring the...other Pokemon in the picture, this idea was given to me by my sister. Sekido as Jolteon, obviously, but I don't really know who for what else.

Nakime as Mawile: My love for both Nakime and Mawile aside, there's just something about the hair connotations and colors that made me link these two although Mawile has two eyes.

Kaigaku as Pikachu: Electricty and the black markings, plus their names have some sort of rhyme to them...

Aoi as Gothorita: No joke, the twintails were what made me think of it

Mitsuri as Diancie: She is a legendary and that's that. Also the crystal things poking out kinda look like Mitsuri's braids.

Obanai as Seviper: Why not Arbok because it's closer to his color scheme and because of the knife at the tail

Well that's all I could come up with. I might do a Part II if I can think of anymore. If y'all have any ideas I'll be interested to know!
