“Captain?”

Eddie turns and smiles at his Captain, Bobby smiles back.

Captain Diaz shakes his head, “Can’t get used to it. You’ll always be Cap to me.”

Eddie looks back out to sea.

“Have you ever seen one?”

Bobby moves closer to join him at the railing. His voice is gentle as usual. He’s more at peace now he’s handed over The 118 to Eddie. Not that he’s leaving, not yet.. Bobby says he’s tired of being Captain, not tired of the sea. Eddie doesn’t think either of them will ever tire of the sea. His ex captain chuckles.

“I assume you don’t mean the dolphins.”

Both men track the pod swimming alongside the ship.

“No.” Eddie glances sideways, “ I don’t mean the dolphins.”

He’s never asked before but after last week, he has to or he might go mad wondering.

“ Actually I have. Years ago now.”

He’s both surprised and not, “You never said, not once.”

Still staring at the horizon Bobby answers the quiet accusation.

“It was a private thing. Something you don’t talk about.” Bobby turns his back to the ocean to look Eddie in the eye.

“I think you understand that Captain.”

While ferrying a message for the Order of the Phoenix, Hermione Granger is caught by jaded Death Eater, Draco Malfoy. Unlikely and unwilling allies, the pair begin a cross-country journey where their survival depends on learning when to stand strong against the elements’ fury, and when it’s acceptable to erode.

so, yes, i would absolutely, no questions asked, recommend Time and Tide. but this fic is not my typical dramione fic rec whatsoever. at 10 chapters and under 30k words, it is pretty short, so there's no slowburn there. their relationship builds pretty quickly, but not abruptly. hermione being a selkie is one of the biggest story points in this fic, which i loved. i don't feel like i see many creature!hermione fics, honestly. the most notable feature of this fic, though, is just the writing itself. i mean, it's beautiful. you can absolutely tell the author is a seasoned and talented writer. for a short fic, the characterization is great and the entire time i was practically screaming, "PLEASE WORK OUT PLEASE GET SAFE PLEASE BE HAPPY" at my kindle.

also, for the record, there are two endings to this fic. one is HEA, but one is not. both contain smut. i read both because of course i did. the non-HEA version felt a little rushed and...underbaked? i don't love criticizing the work that amazing fic authors do for free, but it is worth noting. if you are going to read one ending, i highly suggest the HEA one, not just for your own mental health, but also for the story. the HEA one isn't even totally HEA, so the edginess is still present!

Time and Tide | Swansea Comic Teaser 🦢 🐕

Hello! This is the first major MW-related project I’ve been working on, so here are some teaser sketches while I finish inking it. I have a whole list of comic ideas I will be making and I thought what better way to start it off than with my GOAT Big Swans and Jaxson!

I’m aiming for this to be finished by the end of the weekend, so stay tuned my fellow mouthwash chuggers!

It's done! It's out there! 13 years after I started it, we are now finished. (The minute the party was over I felt like Morpheus had blown a handful of sand in my face. I am so wiped. I'm so delighted. I'm so tired.)
