The audio/visual artist Christian Marclay on the NBC late night show Night Music from October 29, 1989. This was a seminal experience for me. Watching Marclay perform on his "collaged" bit of vinyl records, creating mad sounds and rhythms, completely improvised... it was like nothing I'd ever seen before. Inspired by early hip hop turntablists DJs like Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc and Afrika Bambaataa, Marclay took it to an entirely different level of audio collage. Check out this video of his appearance on Night Music to see what I mean. Night Music was a real treat in it's day, and I watched it regularly because of the top tier musicians, of all genres, that were featured week after week. It was hosted by the saxophonist David Sanborn with Jools Holland, and Marcus Miller as the house bands musical director. And produced by none other than Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night Live fame.

"UNDER THE SEA , turn the music up"

A collection of b-side tracks from El Producto (1997), the single EPs for Since I Left You (Electricity, SILY, Frontier Psychiatrist), the Japan-exclusive 'At Last Alone' (2002), and other rarities posted on the Avalanches' Youtube page, with a bunch of transitions and exclusive pieces made by myself. It's kind of a revamped version of the B-side collection also on YT called "This Is More". The tracklist is very similar, but I try to make the differences worthwhile, especially since I made this as a response to "This Is More" feeling a little.. lacking in cohesion, I guess.
