Fanfic Ratings!: - Time Loops - Soulmates - Monster AUs (half/all the ship is mermaids, dragons, demons, whatever)

Time Loops: B! I really really enjoy time loops, I just don't spend much time Reading them - which I might change actually 👀 There's a lot of potential in them, and I like them best when they're taken in a weird direction, like subverting other common tropes like "The power of love/friendship will save you" or doing everything perfect etc., etc. But I also like when those happen too! :3

Soulmates: D - I have a lot of strong opinions about soulmates as a concept which basically boil down to This Would Change A Lot of Things about the World, and if that's not worldbuilt into the story, I'm not interested. If it's just a singular/ethereal/unproven soulmates thing like the Red Thread? All over that lol, but it's more set dressing than Plot if you get me. Things like first word-tattoos, or hearing your soulmates' thoughts, or feeling what they feel, or yes Omegaverse true pairs - full of potential! But I don't! Like it! Generally!! I think it's that I feel icky about One Person Ever (abusive True Pairs really turned me off of Omegaverse), maybe if I hunt down some polygamous Soulmates I'll feel better about it lol

Monster AU: A - I love monsters! ♥ Of all kinds! I have a lot of faves in this category (I'm also including aliens in this because - apart from the obvious lol - I really enjoy non-human alien pairings :D Bug aliens are some of my favourites ♪), including monster/monster! I haven't read it for a while but there's one that's a drider/mermaid pair and they're super cute <3 I also like when the monster is a manifestation of self-something-negative and turns into self-love hehe ♥

The jump btwn the second to last and last always surprise me whenever I make one of these because I always forget to take snapshots after I start painting. It's always like: oh yeah heres the lineart with some colors- BOOM fully finished✨️

I was going to draw the crown too but decided I don't hate myself that much(maybe some other day), and gave him a golden laurel crown, bcs I'm obsessed with that as a motif, and also its very remincient of the boy king statue that started this whole thing!

There's some symbolism of this, both intentionally but also just historically. I love that the orb represents that the monarch is holding the world in their hand, basically every old monarchy has one of those, and I think it's very cool for symbolism. But also bcs of that, I was forced to basically draw catholic fanart so, you win some you lose some. The star halo above him head is both to reference those religious statues with star crowns(I saw them a lot in Europe and they imprinted onto my brain), as well as: his four championships of course!

Aylin stands on a small hilltop at the edge of the camp, her eyes closed, both arms outstretched in the moonlight. Isobel stands at a slight distance; her gaze is fixed on the aasimar's back, drinking her in as if she has sighted an oasis after long years in the desert.

"Do you feel it, my darling?" Aylin intones softly, like a chant, like a prayer. "Upon Dame Aylin shines once again the moonlight of her mother, in spite of all the evil machinations that caged her and the very darkness of Shar herself."

Isobel smiles slightly. "I feel your joy in the freedom, and my own at seeing it," she answers. "Will you come to bed, my love? You need rest." She still cannot fathom everything Aylin suffered in the century that they have been sundered; what seemed only seconds to Isobel in death has been years of brutal torment for the one she loves above all. It is not something to be shaken off like an old cloak, and she can see the way it has sharpened Aylin's edges and dulled her luster with the stains of pain and rage.

"In time. In time," Aylin says. She turns to face Isobel, and her eyes glow with silver fire. Isobel feels her breath catch in her throat. "My spirit is yet too full of joy to sleep. Come, stand at my side, my mate most high, and rejoice with me, that the very heavens shall hear us."

Isobel hides a slight smile, moving to Aylin's side and taking her hand. "Were we to rejoice quite so loud, I fear we might wake our new companions," she murmurs.

Aylin grunts thoughtfully, mulling this over. "Aye - you speak true, of course. And they who set Dame Aylin free of her unending torment have truly earned the sweetest slumber fate can provide."

"Truly," Isobel says with a hint of amusement. "As have you, for suffering that torment. So come to bed, dearest... please."

Aylin smiles - that fierce smile that makes Isobel shiver all the way down to her bones. The aasimar turns in a single smooth motion, laces her arms around Isobel's waist, and lifts her as if she weighed nothing at all. "Ah," she murmurs, staring into Isobel's eyes with a yearning a century in the making. "But to sleep would be to close my eyes, and it would be torture yet again to remove you from my sight by but an eyelid's breadth... my mate, my Isobel..."

The passionate strength of that embrace shatters all of Isobel's resolve. In Aylin's arms she is safe, she is loved, she is adored, and it drives back even the black remnants of death itself that still cling to her soul. She wraps her legs around Aylin's torso and clings to her unashamedly. "Then look upon me as long as you like, my love," she whispers. "Only do not let me go."

Aylin kisses her, and the kiss burns like fire. "While Dame Aylin lives," she murmurs against Isobel's mouth, "you shall not leave her side again."

Isobel presses her hands to Aylin's cheeks, holding the kiss, deepening it. Her love's lips are hot and dry; there is a warm, bitter taste of metal on the lines of gold that crisscross her skin, the scars of a thousand deaths carved into her flesh. But she is the same Aylin underneath, the same steady, moonlit strength. "Never," Isobel answers softly. "Where you go, I shall go too. Always."

She draws her head back and opens her eyes to find Aylin watching her with a devotion that takes her breath away. "I can ask no more..." her love murmurs. "And I shall follow you in turn... so let us to rest, yes, for I can deny you nothing in the end, and I shall lay my head upon your sweet breast and be content."

When Rion was six, she would sit on the stoop of the house and catch fireflies in her bare hands in the warm, thick summer air. Jaheira, still heavy in her mind with many losses, watched the little girl’s movements - quick and yet gentle - and smiled a little in spite of herself. It was a reminder that nature existed even in the civilized wasteland of Baldur’s Gate, and a reminder that her child could know the land in these small doses, even among high buildings.

It felt as if she lived an entire lifetime in those few moments she knelt on Irenicus’s laboratory floor alongside Khalid’s broken body. The keening wail in her mind had no melody, for she knew nothing of music, and yet it was a song in its way. A crescendo of grief, starting from mute disbelief and slowly rising into deafening anguish; a chorus, call and response, of the attempt at comfort and its screaming denial; a final coda, a dissonant leading chord resolving into nothing but silence.

oh okay so one more question. I did not realize start again and isat were separate things on steam what is the relationship between those two like well it says prologue but I am confusion

OH yeah thats a thing.. to be real i havent played or watched a playthrough of start again yet (i found one (1) earlier while searching for some kinda guide) so im not entirely sure what kind of context it gives to the main game, i just know it came out before isat itself and IS related but from what little ive seen i dont even know how it fits in with isat's canon, so .. its not that its not important (probably) but u definitely dont Need to play it to get a good and full experience out of isat itself if that makes sense ?
