My brain started cooking up some potential Cole and Jay angst regarding the whole evil Jay thing. I don't have any specific scenarios figured out, but I had this realization that Cole is the only one of the main ninja (minus Jay I guess) who hasn't learned Rising Dragon. We've seen Jay use Shatterspin.

Basically what I'm getting at is imagine a fight between Cole and Jay where Jay uses Shatterspin and Cole can't really defend himself without Rising Dragon, so instead of fighting back he's trying to dodge and desperately trying to reason with Jay and get him to remember. Meanwhile Jay just continues to sink further and further into his own hatred or something like that.

This might also be a little bit of me coping since I feel like it's unlikely that Cole's gonna be going after Jay next season since it looks like it's just gonna be Kai and Nya going. If it were up to me I'd have it be Nya and Cole since they're the characters closest to Jay, but you know that's just me.

Also can’t get over the fact that Pearl wasn’t even the one to kill gem, she tried to set it up offered a sword fight instead, but in the end her loyalty to scar won out and she stepped back to let him finish Gem

And isn’t that worse? Isn’t stepping back and letting someone else do it worse?

Isn’t there that quote “The opposite of love is not hate it is indifference. If you hate someone you still care” if Pearl has so truely desperately loved Gem then shouldn’t she have been the one to land the final blow the way Gem had killed her and killed her again before?

Thoughts on Padmé x Anakin x Rex?

Padmé and Anakin are so mutually obssesed they would first have to check into that before trying to bring another person to their carefully-balanced-kind-of-damage or something it's going to explode.

Honestly it's a fun ship! But I don't have too many thoughts about them because when I consider them is usually in very low-stakes-fun-AU-scenarios.

And I'm actually a bit of a fan of Rexwalker myself! Athough I tend to like them more as very good buddies, the covering-for-you-dynamic it's so funny for them, lol It's also angsty and complicated because, y'know, the power-imbalance and unchecked trauma? Is funny that the clone that's actually a slave for the republic is the most normal if you bring him into the anidala romance circus.

Also shout out to @phoenixyfriend , she has a lot of rexanidala fics and recs for anyone interested reading this!

When people say “I’m okay with Buck & Eddie not ending up together as long as their friendship doesn’t change”, I hate to say it, but that’s just not possible.

I’m not saying that they’re going to stop being best friends or anything, but if they get into actual, healthy, serious relationships, with people that are well matched & good for them, their current relationship is going to change. It’s inevitable.

I do believe that they’ll always be family, that they’ll do their best to be there for each other & for Chris, but they get so much from each other. In the past, even unintentionally, they’ve been more emotionally connected to each other than they have been with their partner, & that’s part of why their friendship is so solid, because they’re both only ever vulnerable with the other.

If they find good, healthy, stable partners, they’re not going to need each other in the same way, and that’s going to change their relationship. Do you honestly believe that Eddie is going to leave Buck as Chris’ legal guardian if he finds a partner that he actually & genuinely loves and enjoys being with? (The fanfic writer in me wants to say yes, but the realist in me says no lol.)

If Buck falls in love with someone who is accepting & soft and kind and understanding with him, that person is going to be the one he goes to first for everything, not Eddie.

So much of their friendship is rooted in the way they show up for each other in ways that only committed partners really do, and if they fall in love & get serious and marry other people, it’s not going to be the same.

I just, idk if I’m explaining it eloquently enough, if I have the right words for it, but unless Buddie goes canon or they keep ending up in these half-assed relationships where they repeat the same mistakes over & over again, their relationships and these “moments” everyone loves so much are going to stop.

I'm back to thinking about autistic aro-spec Julian Bashir and how he doesn't know it, and how desperately he tries to do romance "properly", and how it always feels just off of what other people describe, but many emotions seen to do that anyway...

And how he's completely convinced that finding his One True Love would finally unlock the key to happiness he's been struggling to find, because hasn't it worked for Jadzia and Worf and Kira and Odo and Miles and Keiko...? Even for his parents, who always seemed to understand each other so much more than they in understood him, who always told him he'd "understand when he's older"...

He's a little bit in love with all his friends but it's all mixed in with the gratitude he has that they even are his friends as he he latches onto any and all strong emotions in the belief that this is what romance feels like - at last! - and he never even considers the possibility he might be aromantic because he's been in love, hasn't he, and sure he might not really "get" the whole romance thing, but he's trying and anyway he has felt it before - must have felt it before, right? - even if he couldn't place his finger on it or on quite how or why it felt different. Or even if it felt different.

...He's just one of the many flavours of queer Julian that live in my head, but I do like him this way so so much.

okay so i started 9-1-1 because i was feeling left out on this buddie thing. i finished season 1, and i really liked it because of how crazy it was (heavily disagree on hen cheating on her wife because literally what IS that she cares so much about other people and her family she would never).

so i start season 2 tonight and ik this is when eddie gets introduced because i looked it up. and idk what i was expecting but it wasn’t THAT. buck and eddie act like two omegaverse alpha males smelling each other’s competing scents and then barking???

and then 2 episodes later buck is personally driving eddie to go see his son at the school? and looking at him with pure adoration and love?? i honestly thought the fans were on some shit because let’s be honest it’s a FANBASE. it’s a fandom’s job to blow things out of proportions. but even i cannot deny this is INSANE and i owe an apology to all buddie fans for ever doubting you

also. i’ve been pleasantly surprised by how open the show is. i think i was anticipating more of the same as with drama cop/doctor. i’ve seen a few seasons of The Good Doctor, and i honestly thought it was just going to be a cop/firefighter version of that. which it IS but it also isn’t in a lot of vital ways. it’s doing a really good job.

although athena’s husband is throwing me for a loop. one moment i start to like him, and the next i’m seething through my teeth. and i almost LIKE that because it’s not shying away from saying that anybody can be good, and anybody can be bad. anybody go do horrible things with good intent, and anyone can do good things with horrible intent. it’s a step up from other episodic dramas i’ve watched. maybe it’ll bring me to watch others idk.
